The slider is really big on bigger screens, I’m not sure if my images are too big or what. Is the slider responsive? On my iMac its GIGANTIC..I’m trying to diagnose the source of the problem. Please take a look and advise.

If I’m not mistaking WooCommerce supports subcategories. Though we never tested this within The7 theme.

I have been using this theme for well over a year. The support was great, the function was great, and it was very versatile, which I loved. We had even shot a video for our users where we highly recommended this theme and let them know it was really one of our go to themes, which was obviously a ringing endorsement.
Now, however, I will have to rescind that endorsement. I don’t know what has happened in the last few months but the support has gotten lazier. They put in a new policy where they decided to stop support for customizations because it was “taking up too much time”.
Honestly, I can understand that. People asking for huge customizations can be a profit sink. However, customizations that aren’t customizations at all, that are actually standard procedure for pretty much every other theme on the internet for the past 5 years, for example, having a slider link to a page, is covered under “customizations” as well.
After mentioning as much, they still refused to help. Not only that, but it took them a week and a half to finally finish my ticket. I had several issues which I’m surprised they didn’t try to dodge by labeling them customizations. One was the basic feature of the nav menu not being cut off by the boxed layout. Pretty standard stuff. But hey, people mess up sometimes, I get that. Help me fix it. Their solution was for me to update the theme, which I did, which didn’t help, and they took 2-3 more days to reply. In that time, I just hired an Odesk developer to fix the issue, who fixed the problems (yes, more than one) in 20 minutes flat.
Look, this is a great theme. It’s very versatile and I have loved it. However, the support has become very shoddy and is not on par with other themes in the market. I have used the theme and because I know it so well, will continue to use it I’m sure. But, I will be looking for a replacement, a replacement that provides support that most people expect. Not barebones support.

Please note, that our support policy remained unchanged for 2,5 years. Though we indeed provided certain amount of customization before, we were doing it against our own support policy.
When this became a real problem (starts taking over 70% of support time), we had to stick to our own support policy.
We consider it not normal when 10% of users are taking 70% of support time. This influences rest 90% users – they simply not getting answers in adequate time.
Unfortunately, whether right or wrong, when you provide a certain level of service, that level of service is set as the “norm” and is expected, whether you return to your legal policy or not. It’s called expectations.
It’s also a market standard by the way. I can’t think of any high level theme support that doesn’t provide for minimal customizations. I’m not talking about the 70% support time customizations were taking that you referenced, which I imagine were somewhat advanced customizations.
I’m talking about customizations that shouldn’t even be customizations as they are standard operating procedure for any template since 2008, as I mentioned before.
The exact situation I referenced earlier is different from the “70% of support time”.
I made this comment to let people know about the type of support they can expect to receive with this template. Your reply was in line with that as well.

The Twitter feed doesn’t seem to be working after the changes made by Twitter on June 11,2013. I guess you have not updated your widget to add the Access token key and Api keys yet.
I have raised the Support ticket for the same and have not received any response yet.

When I look at my site with my mobile phone and click “request desktop site” it doesn’t do anything. Is there a way to allow the desktop site? (there is nothing more annoying than a website that blocks that option)
Sorry, bet there’s no “request desktop site” button/feature/switch in this theme… Maybe you have a JetPack plugin with “mobile site” feature enabled??
The “request desktop site” is an option on my phones web browser (chrome & mercury). It is not built into the web site. It allows you to skip the mobile version of a website when you are on a phone. It works with most websites but for some reason it does not on your theme.
Most probably enabling that feature makes your browsers send false headers trying to mimic the desktop browser.
But most responsive theme are not relaying on headers. They only using your actual screen width.
You can completely disable theme responsiveness via “Theme Options > General” But this way your site will no longer be “mobile friendly”.

If I use this theme for my blog, can I set the blog page as the Home page instead? Also, is this theme SEO friendly? Can I add 468×60 Google Adsense Ads on the header for this theme? In case of any future theme updates, how would the update go about? Will it be the type like “click this button to update to the latest version” or we have to do some manual coding that kind of tedious thing? Lastly, does this theme have an author bio box on blog post page?

Will this theme be tested for compatibility with 3.8? I am the administrator for a secondary school’s website, and as we’re a school, we cannot afford to have downtime when approaching the new term. I only ask as this theme has not received an update since April.
3.8 is only in RC phase. It’s not being released yet.

What should I change so that the Category archives only the title are displayed. No description, no author, no date, no comments. Only the title. I have already opened a ticket. But no reaction.

Can the slider in portfolio automatically move slides on to the next slide please and if so is there a simple setting for this or do we need to hack the code? If it is a third party slider which one is it please?
Also we installed way back when this first was launched. Is there a version control doc so we can see what has changed since we installed please?

ok thanks for the response. i found a work around for the portfolio page is to turn off the associated portfolio slider and simply set up a slider using the nivo, fancy and onebyone sliders to replace it with. we also bit the bullet and upgraded and installed a child theme so we are now uptodate and hopefully insulated against having to make lots of changes when you next update. Thanks again.

I have a ticket open since about a month age. Simple “Does this theme support 3.7?” Not even looked at.
It seems questions are answered here faster.
My recommendation to dreamtheme is to open a message boar quick. At least let people work things out on their own or have more FAQs made public… your FAQ section hasn’t been updated in like a year. It takes a half-hour to get a message board up and running. It will significantly reduce your support costs and complaints.
