Hi Brandon,
I would like to modify the size of the Logo. I can’t find it in the core css files and in any other files of the theme.
Would you have any idea on what would be the simplest way to do it?
Maybe trough the .PSD files?
Cheers, Remy.
Hi Remy,
The header should flex to match any size image you put in there (within reason) – I’m not at liberty to hand out the font for the logo if that’s what you are asking (it’s a paid font called Gotham Rounded). Is this what you are asking?
Brandon
Its all good.. I figured it out. Thanks Brandon.
Hi Epicera and congratulations for this really nice template !! I love it ! I just have a problem with the lightbox function : it works with jpg images and .mov movies and panoramas, but not .swf files. Did you ear about that ?
My site is : http://www.perritaz.com/blog/homelink/
The first image connect to a swf file, and the second one to a mov file.
Any idea ? Thanks in advance.
Hi Zawyat,
I just updated the version of prettyPhoto in the last update, so this should work properly now
Brandon
Hi! Love the design, just have 2 quick questions..
1) Why is my favicon showing up on some pages, while the standard one shows up on others? I have installed “shockingly simple favicon” plugin and then routed that to my favicon (which shows up on home + about); however, on services + portfolio, your favicon shows up; and on contact, no favicon shows up at all.
2) Any advice on using different header images for different pages? Currently I just have an FPO red image up, but I’d like to customize that for each page.
see: http://www.stephaniemattina.com
Otherwise, thanks so much for your hard work on this. I’ve been able to deliver to my client exactly what they were looking for!
1) It’s hard to say why it’s not working if you are using a plugin for this – but I’ll note that the new version of the theme includes it’s own favicon management from the admin panel
2) Customizing this kind of stuff per-page on Wordpress is actually pretty tricky unless you are comfortable writing custom PHP for the template files. In layman’s terms, you need to write an if/else statement for each page that corresponds to the header images. It’s not impossible, but it’s also not something that I could personally just jot out in a few minutes either.
Cheers! Brandon
Hi I’m an illustrator/graphic designer and I am considering purchasing this theme to display my work. However I’m not quite sure exactly how configurable this theme is as I am new to Wordpress and using themes in conjunction with it.
I have a couple of questions which will help me make up my mind:
1) Is each slider tied to one particular page, ie could I use the slider from the homepage on my portfolio page and vice versa?
2) How configurable are the sliders and the Lightbox ie can I change the width, timing, borders etc?
It’s a great looking theme but I want to be sure of what I can do with it before I buy. Cheers, Barney
Hi Barney,
Thanks for the questions
1. No, the sliders aren’t tied to any one page – right now the slider is universal (there is one large slider and one small slider). I’ve helped out a few people with extending this to more than just one though. You do have the option to turn the slider off on particular pages (or even the homepage) if you want though.
2. This is totally flexible – the lightbox scales to meet the media – so if you put a large image, it scales accordingly automatically – same with videos, etc. You can also change the skin of it using basic CSS customizations
Cheers! Brandon
Can you restrict the user comments so that you determine prior to posting comments or deny them?
Yes you can
First of all, great theme. 5 stars. I’m using it on my Thesis Skins site and couldn’t be happier with it. I thought I’d let you know about a bug I found though.
If you have the comment tally showing and use a long title, it will cut off part of the title. I fixed this by putting a small margin-left on the comment tally box, so it pushes the word down instead of making it disappear. Then I added a bigger line-height to the post header to keep the typography consistent, since by default it was smushed.
Just thought you should know about that for future releases.
Cheers, Matt
Thanks for the note Matt! – I’ll include it in the next update
Has there been any fix for the way the images in the slider load on the homepage? I love, love, love this theme but that drives me nuts. Is there another slider I could implement that wouldn’t do that?
Hi Jes – at the moment, no – it’s basically tied to the third party script being used and since I didn’t write it, I’m unclear on how to fix it – but I’ve been hunting around for a fix and I’m hoping to release one in one of the next updates
Okay cool, well I will definitely keep my eye out for any updates then
Thank you!
Hi! just saw your tweet about the new update – awesome! I already have this all online and installed and beautiful so what’s the easiest way for me to make the update without screwing anything up lol.
Thanks!
It depends a lot on how much you tweaked, but there are notes inside the new Start folder in the download
In short, if you’ve made a lot of edits to the template files, I’m basically advising you to keep a backup just to be safe as this latest update is HUGE and includes quite a few changes to all of the core template files.
Great news this update! I downloaded the zip, uploaded the files, but don’t see any changes to the admin panel. Files and folders dates appear to be created on 15 Feb 2010. Does this mean the update has not yet been through the TF review?
Make sure you’re using the new admin panel (it’s at the very bottom now) – if you didn’t delete the previous folder’s admin panel, it still may show up under the Appearance panel
I’m sorry for being a noob, but I just deleted the entire folder uploaded a new one with a different name. Still same old admin panel. It shows as the last option under Appearance tab. I will try downloading the package again in a couple of days. Cheers!
Hi again,
Double check for me – the NEW admin panel is at the BOTTOM of the sidebar, it’s not under the Appearance tab at all
It’s actually all the way at the bottom below settings.
Brandon
tnx for your fast replies! I made you a screenshot: http://ow.ly/1A8th
Hmmm – strange – I’m wondering if you’re somehow still using the old version. Which version does the theme read on the Appearance > Themes page? The newest version is 1.4 – try resetting your browser cache and re-downloading the theme – perhaps your browser is just getting stuck and needs a jolt to download the newest file that’s available.
Cheers! Brandon
I’m actually experiencing the same thing. I downloaded the new new theme and overwrote the files. It shows as version 1.4 in my wordpress admin but nothing seems to have changed.
The documentation for ‘getting started’ seems to not have changed either. It shows the old admin as well.
You said above that the old admin might still show up unless we delete it. Will the new admin be found in the same location as the old one in our wordpress admin? Should it look the same as the admin panel found on your other updated themes? Los Angeles for instance. There doesn’t seem to be a preview on the theme page like the others have.
Thanks for your continued support. Very much appreciated.
Justin
Hi Justin,
Yes – it should look the same as the new Los Angeles admin panel – let me check into the issue for you guys right now
B
Ahhh! It would appear as though there was a mixup during the update – let me post the file again for the reviewers – it should be up by the end of the day at the latest
B
Thanks Brandon
You got it dude – sorry for the confusion
Ok – and the new version will be called 1.5
Yippee :
) Thanks Brandon. I was starting to doubt myself ;)Oh – and it should be up now – just got the approval email
Looks good, although the admin panel is not the same as the one that is shown on the Los Angeles preview. It consists of the following categories.
- design & settings - homepage settings - footer settings
It is missing the homepage blurbs, gerneral settings, comments and menu settings as shown in this image.
http://makedesignnotwar.com/themes/losangeles/adminpanel.png
It does however appear in the main sidebar of my wp admin and not in ‘Appearance’ as it once had.
Hi again,
Uh – the admin panel is the same – the settings are different of course, because the themes are different
B
Hi Brandon,
I purchased this theme a while ago and just installed 1.5 with a clean Wordpress 2.9.2 Install. So I’m just getting started, but have some weird behavior… The menu dropdowns are stuck open/down and the slider is not working… all images just show up on the page.
Site is: golf-swag.com
Thanks,
Jim
It looks like you’ve got a hiccup somewhere in the jQuery loading – my best advice is to try deleting/uploading the theme folder again (you won’t need to do this for the dummy content or anything), but just one missing file can cause this kind of bug. Good news is this only happens once every 200 or so installs, so try a fresh one and see if that doesn’t fix it.
Brandon,
Thanks for the reply, but that did not work. Here is what I did the first time.
I uploaded the pacifica.zip file to the themes directory then unzipped on the server. I then deleted the pacifica folder from the themes directory and uploaded the pacific folder and all components back to the themes directory and seem to be getting the same thing.
Maybe I need to get a clean version, or could it be a conflict with WP 2 .9.2?
Just noticed this too. Problem is the library/scripts -folder it is empty in 1.5 Try copying the earlier .js files to that folder and clear browser cache after that. Should solve the problem.
Checking into this right now – thanks for the heads up guy
Weird! Ok – uploading the patched file right now
I understand that not all the options will be the same because the themes do differ but it doesn’t look like much has been changed from the last admin except for the addition of the custom css field and how everything is ordered/displayed. I’m also having an issue with the images in the sections loading.
Here’s a screenshot .
http://www.ignitecreative.ca/images/pacificaadmin.png
Any idea what would be causing that?
Oh! Sorry for the confusion – yes, most of the options are the same – it’s the UI that’s been dramatically improved – and the backend coding is now a lot cleaner and easier to manage.
As for the images… that’s strange – what browser are ya using?
I’m using Safari 4.0.5. I just checked using FIrefox and it displays fine.

Hey Brandon, thanks for the update on this great theme. I was wondering if there was a way to stop the sliders from auto scrolling on some pages, but leave them be on others? This may be a PrettyPhoto question, but I thought I would post it to you if you knew the answer. Thanks again!
Hi Lees,
To my knowledge, there’s not an easy way to make the sliders auto on some pages and not on others… it’s pretty much an all or none kinda thing the way it’s programmed right now. What you could do (and I should note that this is a lot of work and pretty tricky) is register a unique page template and a unique slider for each page on your site, then you could have custom control over one or the other, but again, this isn’t an easy modification and might be so complex that it’s not even worth it (especially if you haven’t written any custom Wordpress php code before).
Hope that at least clears it up
B
Thanks Brandon for the response. It’s not that important to me, so I’m probably going to leave as is.
I did have another question and I tried searching the discussions to find my answer but there’s not an easy way to do that. If I wanted to change the order of the nav bar, say move”ABOUT” to the right and switch that with another link, how would I do that.
For example, if you go to www.leesmillard.com, I would like to switch “ABOUT” and “WORK” around.
Thanks, Lee
Hi :o)
This looks like a great theme and one which I could use for an upcoming project. 2 questions for you!
1/ Can I set the front page slider to just display a single image and also to autoscroll, say, every 6 seconds
2/ I’ll be using the portfolio page to display videos but I’ll need to add a custom thumbnail for each video – is this possible?
Thank you,
Jonny.
Hello,
I have two issues that need help with.
Firstly the image slider on the front page loads unusually and looks unprofessional. It loads vertically and then jumps over to be horizontal. Is there a fix for this, and can you walk me through it?
Secondly how do i limit the number of blog posts on the home page? Is there a way to do this?
By the way just incase you need to know my website is http://nolan.atbhost.net/
Thanks for the help!
I have yet another question…
How do i get rid of the masive blue scrolling bar at the bottom of some pages like this one http://nolan.atbhost.net/?page_id=1091?
Thanks for the help!
