Hello I recently purchased your theme and so far i’m loving how it looks. I am just wondering if I made a new sections part called certifications and I added your code from the instructions to format it correctly, how can I add a tab to the top of the screen in the navigation section? I would like it to work how the premade sections navigation tabs work. Thanks a lot!!

Figured it out! Thanks again for the great theme!

I really like this theme, but I’m stuck on the blog functionality. You’ve called it a fully functional blog, but there’s no sidebar or widgets, so I can’t have people sort by category or view an archive or anything. I added my own sidebar to functions.php, but getting it to display properly is a bear, and I wish you would consider REALLY making this fully functional in the next version. I have 4+ years of blog posts I’ve just added, and there’s no way to sort them. Right now, there’s just a single blog page that displays the entire content of every single post. The container background runs out. I could fix this myself, but it would take a while. Right now I’m shopping around for another theme, because I didn’t realize this one doesn’t have the standard sidebar/widgets that even basic WP comes with. Thanks – the rest looks good & the customizer is very easy to use! If I’ve missed something, please let me know.

Hi, thanks for purchasing. :)

Lack of a widgetized sidebar doesn’t mean the blog doesn’t fully function, it’s just that type of a theme and we decided to leave it out. Purely a design decision as we wanted to focus the sidebar on the section titles. This is also visible on the demo. After all, this is mainly a CV theme and 99% of users only want a simple blog for occasional blog posts.

As for sorting the posts, I’m not really sure what you mean, but categories and tags work properly… if you’re talking about the order of the post we bundled a plugin suggestion with the theme for this.

For the container background – it works properly on all browsers and OS’s we tested, please send us a screenshot and your system info so we can look into this if you want.

Changing the main blog page to display excerpts instead of the full posts is very easy to do too, if you need assistance let us know.

This is my blog page. I don’t see any way to use categories or tags. They don’t display anywhere. When I click on “All Posts” this is what I see. If you scroll down, you’ll see that it’s placing all text (no excerpts) and eventually the background of the container runs out. I have done what I thought was necessary to display excerpts in the reading settings, but it still shows full text. Do I need to use the_excerpt code somewhere?

Am I missing something? I am on the latest version (or should be the latest) of Firefox. It must be the browser because I just checked & it’s displaying fine on IE. A lot of differences between IE 11 and my version of Firefox in fact. The progress bars, for one.

How do I attach a screenshot? I can show you what’s happening in Firefox.

By the way, I get leaving out the sidebar on the main page. I just want a way to have readers sort my blog by category, date, and tag. Right now, the “All Posts” link takes them to a single page of all the blog posts in their entirety, with no widgets or navigation to sort them. I understand that this is primarily a CV type thing, but my blog (as a writer) is part of my portfolio/CV. So…kinda important in that regard. Just my opinion! I still think I must be missing something if you say categories & tags work. I just don’t see any way to make categories and tags visible. I’ve checked them in my posts, but they don’t show up.

These are all quite easy fixes – changing it to the excerpt, limiting the number of posts and thus displaying the navigation at the bottom, listing the tags and category of each post. But, instead of explaining this to you, it’s easier for us to do this for you. So please create an admin login for us and send us the details via our kontakt[at]pixeldizajn.com email. Allow us up to 48h to do this.

I’m sorry, I appreciate the offer, but I don’t give out admin logins. I’m sure I can figure it out then. If it were “quite easy” then explaining it shouldn’t be so hard. ;) I do understand coding to some extent. Also, I don’t want to limit the number of posts on the page unless there is pagination. When I limit the posts, they just stop – with no next page. Perhaps you could add these variables or at least some documentation to that regard on your next version. Thx for the fast reply.

Also, I like to learn how to do these things, so having someone else do them doesn’t really help there. :D

pixeldizajn

Sorry, we’re just offering help but we can’t teach you things. As you may know, sellers are not required to do any of this on ThemeForest. As we’d have to add some functionality (categories list) and do some php code changes (excerpts, and pagination when the post count is not limited) only way to do it would be forwarding it to our development team and doing it directly on your website.

Since you’re not okay with this, I’m afraid we can’t assist you any further. We’ll add your suggestions to our list and hopefully introduce them in one of the next updates. Since you’re the first to suggest them I’m not really sure how soon will this be.

Greetings

Oh, only quick fix that you can do yourself is just change the_content to the_excerpt in the index.php file.

Default-user

Thanks. I was adding the_excerpt to single.php and page.php or wherever I could find it, but I didn’t think it would be in index. I added that as well as: Read More

That will do for now. I’ll get around to fixing the other stuff on my own if I don’t end up changing the theme. I like the simplicity of the rest of your theme…just needed the blog to have more features. Other CV themes do have these features, but their themes are more complex than I need for this project. Thx. I do appreciate your offer to help, but for the security of my clients, I can’t provide logins.

No problems, if you happen to have any other questions or run into any issues while doing the changes – we’re available.

Cheers!

2 questions / issues: 1) How do I configure the contact form? Can’t seem to find any settings for any kind of mailto: / contact form plugin, etc… 2) I’m using custom google fonts on the page, however in the education and experience sections, the title font is using the theme default font, not the custom one I specified. Thanks for your help!

Here’s the error: “message NOT sent”. I have not configured any kind of Pop3 / SMTP access within the wordpress install if that helps

pixeldizajn

Hi, you need to have the PHPMail function enabled by your host. We also replied to your email, so please continue communicating there. For the second issue you’re having we need your website URL, so please send it.

Hi,

Thanks for the theme!

Small issue with the child theme: because the parent uses get_template_directory_uri() to enqueue style.css, the child theme’s style.css is never loaded when it’s chosen as the active theme. This means you can’t put CSS in the child’s style.css to override the parent.

I fixed it locally by using get_stylesheet_directory_uri() in place of PDS_TEMPLATE_URI in the wp_enqueue_style call for style.css in the parent’s functions.php.

Matt

Downloaded this template and installed it. It’s great! Quick question: What do I need to update in order to insert a copyright line?

Thanks! Brian

pixeldizajn

Hi,

Thanks for purchasing.

If you’re talking about insert it at the bottom, you just need to open the footer.php file and put it there. Let us know if you need anything else.

Hello,

First off, great theme. I was wondering, however, if it was possible to reduce the space between the ‘period’ dates and the text. I would like to have only an end date for the education section, but when there is only one date listed the space between the date and text is huge. How would I change that space?

Thanks.

pixeldizajn

Hi, thanks for purchasing!

There’s a class called ‘bigspacing’ in the css file, just reduce the padding-left property and that should do it. :)

Perfect, thank you!

Hi,

I recently bought the template, great work, thanks.

Is there a way to make it bilingual? I have clients in two languages.

Thanks

pixeldizajn

Hi, thanks for purchasing!

Yes, the theme has Localization Support (.pot/.po/.mo files are included). Not sure if you’re familiar with translating themes but there’s a lot of different guides for this, it’s standardized.

Let us know if you need anything else.
