Hello, I took a look about the way to change the order that the Galleries are displayed, but the link you mentioned is not working

http://www.wpexplorer.org/knowledgebase/changing-post-order-portfolio-services-highlights-staff-etc/

Could you give me another solution? thank you in advance

WPExplorer

Hum, the link is working for me.

Maybe try this one instead, its basically the same instructions – www.wpexplorer.com/order-custom-post-type-posts-wordpress/

that works well thank you

I know I have asked this before but what is the best way of updating this to the latest version?

WPExplorer

Override the files via FTP or use this plugin – http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/

ps: New version will have auto updates! Just fill out the details in the theme panel under the new updates tab.

Having installed the theme on my live site I am finding that when I click on a gallery to view it, the slider launches to show the gallery images, and I also get a set of large thumb nails of the all images in that gallery showing below the Slider.

This is not happening in my test site and I cannot fathom out how to remove the larger thumbs.

All I want is the slider, with the galleries shown below the slider and no additional image thumbs in between the two. Can you advise.

Also Where can I find the documentation to support this themes as I can not find it in the Download file and unfortunately the links you provided earlier in the posts are for a now defunct page. Thanks for any assistance

WPExplorer

It’s hard to tell what the extra thumbnails are…my guess is maybe you inserted the WP gallery into the post? This is not needed, to create the gallery you just use the gallery metabox: http://cl.ly/image/1U2K3v0K3k2H

The docs are included, make sure you are downloading the correct zip and not just the installable theme.

You are correct about, the WP gallery was in inserted into the post, as well as a metabox gallery. I’m still not sure how I managed that :( but thanks very much for the head up.

Greetings and best wishes for the new year … I am very happy with this theme but would it be possible to know what is the best format to have a very good record in the photos galleries? He must do “save for web”? or JPEG but then with what format “standard base” or “optimized background” or “progressive optimized”?? What weight should be at maximun picture to avoid burdening the site? I know that’s a lot of question, but it is one of the most important things for a picture site is beautiful and I can not find anything on the web to answer my questions … Thank you in advance www.jeanpierrerieu.fr

WPExplorer

Happy New Year to you too!

To be honest it’s a pretty difficult question, because it depends on your needs and desires. I’m not a photographer either so I can’t really tell you what the best is in terms of keeping the quality.

That said, if you are trying to speed things up you could maybe consider using a plugin to strip out your image metadata and slim them down, such as this one – http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/

It does but a strain on your server, but you can run it then de-activate it.

I personally use an app though on my computer before uploading images called ImageOptim – http://imageoptim.com/

Thank a lot

Hello, I changed the gallery background by the following line in style.css: #gallery-slider-wrap { background: #303030 border: none } but in the full screen mode it persists your standard grey. Can I change it?

Default-user

Sorry, I forgot… ...and in the gallery how can I change the color of both name and navigation controls? (I need to contrast the background color)

Default-user

I found parameters needed in Galleries RoyalSlider section, in style.css. so I’m ok. See you next time

WPExplorer

;) Thanks for letting me know!

Hello! Great theme, thanks for building.

I have my site title (under Settings > General) set as “Taylor Michie Media.” However, it appears that the site name also appears next to the page name in the header bar as part of the theme framework.

For example, on my page titled “About”: In my browser’s header bar, it shows “About – Taylor Michie Media | Taylor Michie Media.” Is there a way to remove the first “Taylor Michie Media” so that the header bar reads “About | Taylor Michie Media.”

Thanks in advance.

WPExplorer

Hi there,

I think the theme does have some outdated code for the title, contact me via my profile page and I’ll send you an updated theme so you can see if it works better for you.

I am new to Wordpress. Can anyone send a step by step tutorial how to set up a webpage with photojax? I found the instructions useful if you are already familiar with the tool. Any helps appreciated, Thank you, AF

Hi, I was wondering if there has been any update on being able to password protect specific galleries? I’ve seen several people post on this topic and I’ve sent a message on your profile page but haven’t gotten a response.

WPExplorer

I made the update and responded to your email 5 days ago with the updated theme zip. Maybe double check your spam folder?

I’ll re-send it for you.

Hi, nice looking theme! I purchased it a couple of days ago. I was looking at your video for creating galleries and the ‘Simple galleries’ plugin you mention isn’t automatically installed nor activated. Have tried to look for it everywhere, but I can’t find it. Can you help me out please? Thanks!

I started everything again from scratch and this time it works just fine. I figured it out! Thanks for the help :)!

Hi,

it seems like whatever change I make (even to the point in deleting the whole css file) doesn’t affect the website. Also there is a different font on chrome and safari. It’s gill sans on chrome and courier(which is recently changed to) on safari.

WPExplorer

Just from the front-end there doesn’t appear to be any caching plugin active, I would have to look in the back end as well to confirm.

Are you positive you are editing the correct files?

avinje89

Thanks for answer. It was my browser which cached

pre-order question hello, the theme looks very nice! one thing that is important to me: when i click on an album, i would like to see all pictures in this album in a overview, bevor clicking on a picture and then start the slider. is there a chance to realice that? just for the visitor of the page, think it would make it more comfortable. thanks a lot, greetings daniel

Hello, I love the theme, but unfortunately I have discovered a bug in Chrome on Mac (both latest versions).

The zoom button on the gallery takes you into full screen successfully, and clicking the “un fullscreen” button does exit full screen – but you are then stuck with the fullscreen layout filling the browser. The button is still there in the corner, but clicking it takes you full screen again. There is no way to properly exit out and see the rest of the website! The only way to get back is to reload the page…

Can you think what might be the problem? This is happening on the official demo.

Thanks

WPExplorer

Hum, I’m not having this issue on Chrome on my iMac or Macbook pro. Can you try de-activating any Chrome extensions/addons you may have active to make sure one of them isn’t causing the bug?

Ah ha! Good thinking. “Better Pop Up Blocker” seemed to be the culprit. I’m so glad it’s just me being dumb and not a fault with the theme.

Thanks for your help. This theme is awesome!

WPExplorer

Sorry Daniel, I simply didn’t see your comment before!

To be honest I’m not quite sure what you want to do. Sounds like you want the homepage items to link to the categories instead of the individual galleries. This isn’t something built-into the theme, it would require a custom homepage template.

If you don’t have that many categories it wouldn’t be too hard for you to use a static page and add a grid of images that link to your categories, either via column shortcodes, a custom template or a 3rd party plugin…

But yes you can definitely organize your galleries into different “albums” (categories) such as these examples:

http://wpexplorer-demos.com/photojax/galleries-category/lifestyle/
http://wpexplorer-demos.com/photojax/galleries-category/fashion/

hey thanks for reply! i try again: if i go to the “preview”, there are albums for example “food”, when i click on it then its starting the ajax slideshow of this album. i would like to see all the pics as thumbnail in a mosaik layout, when first clicking on a album, to get an overview of what is inside. when clicking on one picture in this overview it should start then the ajax picture slider. hope u understand.. greetings daniel

WPExplorer

A gallery is just a custom post. What you want to do is organize your galleries into Categories but then create a custom template that loops through these categories so when you click on 1 category you can see the galleries within the category. As I said above, this isn’t something built-into the theme, it would require a custom template.

If you don’t have that many categories it wouldn’t be too hard for you to use a static page and add a grid of images that link to your categories, either via column shortcodes, a custom template or a 3rd party plugin. Of course the best would be for you to develop or hire a developer to develop a page template that can loop through your terms.

Hi,

Previous post seems to be repeative. It only happens when it’s static, since it’s my front page. If I don’t have it as static, it sorta fucks up. I’ve made some customization on that blog, so it might be difficult for you to locate the problem.

When I click previous post, it just refreshed.

www.andersvinje.com

WPExplorer

Yes, you can’t have the homepage set to static with the blog template because the blog template has a custom query and it will conflict and cause the pagination to break.

I’m not sure what you mean by it “sort of fucks up” if you have it set to display latest posts rather then static. I’ve double checked locally and it should be fine.

I just had a look at the site and it seems like its working correctly now, what was the error?

avinje89

Oh, I’m so sorry! I sorta fixed it. Problem was that I had only customized it as a static page, so it “sort of fucks up” when I changed it to latest posts. So I just had to customize it like a latest post.

I’m sorry for not giving you the heads up!

WPExplorer

No worries, glad you got it working!

Hi,

thanks for the theme, I like it very much. I am wondering 1. if it is possible to add some text below each gallery 2. if it is possible to keep the original size of each featured image in the gallery display

Thanks!

hi, i use the theme photojax for 2 years. All is nice, but now the Manage Gallery does not drive! The order of the pictures isen´t right, i can´t change them. What could i do now?

WPExplorer

Sorry for the delay!

Delete the Gallery plugin (there was a plugin that I used to recommend, but is no longer needed) and use the new built-in Gallery metabox. Have a look at the screenshot I posted above, it’s very different then the old method.

if you are still confused let me know and I’ll do a quick video guide!

hi, thank you for the answer! Could you show me the screenshot, you wanted to post in the last mail (it was not there)! Could i feel certain, when delete the plugin Symple Galleries? Two plugins are activated now: Symple Galleries and Gallery Metabox. Could it be, that one desturbs the other one? I look forward to your sppport!

WPExplorer

If your theme is 100% up to date you don’t need either of the plugins! So you can de-activate them both.

The built-in gallery box looks like this: http://cl.ly/image/10200J3Y3k3D

So you can actually add images straight from the gallery and click the images and drag them to re-order them.

Hi; i have a problem with the “Read more” tag (i added the a href with the permalink in the content.php page) but when i have just an image in the post, nothing but the title and the “Read more tag” appears in the blog main page. Is there any way to show the images in the blog main page before the “Read more tag”? Sometimes I also add a thumbnail in my posts, but it doesn’t works property and not always want a thumbnail in my posts. My page is http://www.dar417.com/blog Thank you very much!

WPExplorer

Sorry for the delay!

I’m not quite sure what you mean, looks like maybe you corrected the issue? If you are still having a problem please show me so I can provide some feedback!

ps: Great work!

Is there anyway to force the images to look bigger on a mobile phone screen? the portfolio images are just too tiny to see any detail or something… The theme is really awesome, but if there was anyway to correct this I would love to purchase it.

I’ll be waiting for your answer, thanks.

WPExplorer

You can add some CSS so that the image takes up the whole area like this:

@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
#gallery-slider { width: 100%; margin: 0; color: #FFF; }
}
http://cl.ly/image/3E1e2G2h0J0m

Personally though I think its best the way it is so people know you can scroll left and right. If you flip your phone around to landscape mode they display much larger ;)

A photography site should really be viewed on a desktop/tablet anyway 8-)

Hi, I’m having a problem with uploaded photos. I uploaded photos that have the sRGB colour profile and 600×900 size. When I download by right click > Save As, the size is 476×700 and the colour profile has been stripped. I wouldn’t have noticed, other than its badly affecting the colour of my photos. Can you suggest any way I can make sure my photos stay the way I upload them. Thank you

WPExplorer

The only way you can have your photos stay exactly the way you upload them is by removing the auto cropping of images.

I’m guessing when WordPress crops/resizes your images it strips the color profile.

The easiest way would be to edit functions/aqua-resizer.php and on line 24 inside the aq_resize function add:

return $url;

So it looks like this:

function aq_resize( $url, $width, $height = null, $crop = null, $single = true ) {
return $url;

That would remove all resizing on the theme completely.

You could also edit content-galleries.php and change line 42 from:

aq_resize( wp_get_attachment_url( $attachment), 9999, 700, false )

to:

aq_resize( wp_get_attachment_url( $attachment), 9999, 9999, false )

And that would remove all cropping for galleries only.

Let me know if you need further guidance!
