Installing Theme from uploaded file: themeforest-3272300-photopro-photography-wordpress-theme.zip Akismet is almost ready. You must enter your Akismet API key for it to work.

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

This is the message that is coming up.

I really love this theme by the way, and can’t wait to get it up and running.

WPExplorer

You need to first unzip the purchased file. Then upload just the theme which is located inside the “Upload’ folder.

Thanks for the purchase!

Found a bug in the gallery “plain” style where the category tags are not separated by anything, space, comma, etc. Should have some sort of separator.

WPExplorer

Thank you for letting me know. I am submitting the update now.

If you want to fix on your own, open includes/gallery-plain.php and change lines 20-22 from this:

<?php $wpex_single_gallery_terms = get_the_term_list( get_the_ID(), 'gallery_cats' ); ?> <li class="category"><?php echo $wpex_single_gallery_terms; ?></li>

to this:

<?php echo get_the_term_list( get_the_ID(), 'gallery_cats', '<li class="category">', ' - ', '</li>' ); ?>

You can change the hyphen to any separator you want ;)

First of all – great theme!

I’ve been looking for a modern, super clean, image focused, user friendly, mobile friendly photography site – have now found it.

Have created a site – http://naturalpixels.co.uk/ – and all works well on desktop and iPad.

However, on an iPhone clicking on an image opens a lightbox version that is smaller than the image shown on the site.

Is there anyway lightbox effect can be disabled for iPhone only or can the image be made to go full screen?

Many thanks

Paul

WPExplorer

Great, glad you like it Paul!

You are right the fancybox should probably be disabled for mobile ;)

It’s a simple edit.

If you open functions/scripts.php locate line 64:

if( is_singular( 'galleries' ) ) {

And change to:

if( is_singular( 'galleries' )  && !wp_is_mobile() ) {

Have you tried using the alternative view.js lightbox? This is the original one included with the theme which is better on mobile devices, fancybox was added later as requested by many.

Default-user

Thanks for the swift response.

I found the line under scripts.php and changed it but it didn’t appear to have any affect.

When viewing the site on an iPhone it still opens the images in fancybox.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Paul

WPExplorer

Maybe clear your phone cache.

Default-user

Sorry – that doesn’t work.

Have changed scripts.php and cleared the iPhone cache but fancybox still opens on the phone.

Maybe I’ll wait for a future PhotoPro update and see if there is an option in there?

Thanks

WPExplorer

You don’t like the default view.js lightbox? It’s a little more mobile friendly.

Today I bought PhotoPro. I thought I got everything up and running. Galleries work. Pages work. Homepage works. But: There’s a scrolling problem.

I can create a blog page. That works fine. But when scrolling down, I only see the first blog and a part of the second.

Same happens when I open a blog post. I only see the top part of the blog. No scrolling to the bottom part where I can add a comment.

Third place where I find this issue is when creating a gallery as masonry. I only see the images in the window. There’s no scrolling option.

So, something’s wrong if it comes to scrolling. It looks like the theme doesn’t reserve enough scrolling space.

I’m using Wordpress 3.5.1 (Dutch) on a local (XAMPP) installation. Tested this with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. Same thing happens on all browsers.

I tried to disable all other plugins. Doesn’t change a thing.

What can I do to get this theme up and running? Please inform me if you need more information.

Best regards, Dennis

WPExplorer

Hi Dennis,

Sounds like maybe there is some sort of PHP error breaking the site. Since you are running locally there isn’t much I can do to help.

Can you enable wp-debug on your install and also check the source code for any errors?

http://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG
Default-user

Hi,

Thanx for your reply.

I’ve done a fresh (local) WP install and compared it with my previous install. It seems that there was kinda hack in that version with jQuery in the WP code. My hack, my fault.

On the clean install I installed the PhotoPro theme. After that, I installed plugin Balupton jQuery. When I activate it, the same issue appears again. So it looks like a conflict with jQuery. On all the websites I maintain, I never had a conflict with Balupton jQuery (not with a theme and not with another plugin). So I was surprised.

I haven’t tested it with other jQuery plugins. Can PhotoPro work next to an activated jQuery plugin at all? If not, will it do so in future?

Best regards, Dennis

WPExplorer

All the jQuery in this theme has been added in Non-Conflict mode. My guess is the issue is coming from the plugin. Can you check with Firebug to see what sort of script error you are getting?

Default-user

Your guess was totally right. It’s in the latest (and recently installed) version of the jQuery plugin. More people complain about it. I’ve tried some other plugins and they work fine. (sorry, I have Firebug installed, but haven’t used it yet for this issue)

Thanks for your time AND your effort. I really like this theme. I’m going to integrate it on my website in about 3 weeks.

WPExplorer

Hope you can get everything working well!

Best of luck, AJ

Hey there, congrats for the theme, its really awesome!

im having just a little problem, how did i show all the galleries at the left menu?

Ty

WPExplorer

You can add your galleries to the menu via the built-in menu dashboard at Appearance->menu.

If you don’t see the galleries on the left hand, click on the “screen options” tab on the top right of the screen to enable them.

Glad you like the theme!

hello, I would buy the theme and I’d like to know if the gallery you can enter text / descriptions. I would also like to know if you can enter the various social networks in the galleries and in the home. thank you very much and congratulations for the theme, it is beautiful!

WPExplorer
  • The galleries have an “about” tag you can see in the demo which shows the post content. Unless you use the “plain” gallery style which looks more like a post.
  • Not sure what you mean by social networks…the sidebar is widgetized though so maybe that helps?

Hello again. I’m very new to this so this question might sound really stupid but I haven´t been able to figure out how I can take a created gallery and add it to a previously created page. Any suggestions?

WPExplorer

I don’t understand the question.

Default-user

Sorry… I didn’t explain it correctly. Say I’ve created a page called “X”. I’ve published this page but there is no content within it. I’ve also created a new gallery in the Gallery section. These exist independent of one another. How do I take that already created Gallery and instert it into a page?

Default-user

I know its probably the most basic stuff… I apologize for my sad skill level.

WPExplorer

Oh you mean switch post types? You can use a plugin like this:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-type-switcher/
  • Bought between 1 and 9 items

Also, is there any way to make the scrolling arrow disappear?

WPExplorer

Hide it via CSS:

.scrollingHotSpotLeft,
.scrollingHotSpotRight { display: none !important; }
Default-user

Where do I need to write this bit of code?

Thanks!

Default-user

I just want to hide it in the home page…. don’t know if that’s possible.

WPExplorer

The homepage has a body class of “home” so it would become:

body.home .scrollingHotSpotLeft,
body.home .scrollingHotSpotRight { display: none !important; }

Hey – I love this theme – great work. However, I have noticed that it does not work correctly with Windows Phone 8 or Windows RT (IE10). I use these devices regularly – is it fairly easy or do you plan to update the code to support these devices?

WPExplorer

Glad you like it ;)

What do you mean it doesn’t work?

The theme comes with a specific mobile style that changes the default sliders/masonry galleries into photo listings on purpose – for multiple reasons. This is briefly mentioned on the theme page.

Or do you understand that and there is an actual issue?

Default-user

Hey mate

On Windows RT (Surface RT) – the layout breaks. The menu remains on the left hand side, but the pictures fall under the menu rather than on the right hand side (thus leaving a large white space on the right hand side). On Windows Phone 8 – it does not recognise it as a mobile device and displays the Desktop version (I have checked to make sure the device is set to display mobile). This is broken just like it is on Windows RT. So my guess is that 1) It does not recognise Windows Phone as a mobile device and 2) The theme is incompatible with IE10.

Absolutely my favourite theme so far – so only those two issues are holding me back. Thanks!

WPExplorer

Hum..

The theme does work perfectly on IE10, this I can be sure of.

I don’t own a Windows tablet (only iPad 2, iPad3, iPad Mini and Nexus). I’ll see if I can get a hold of one to check.

The theme uses a custom script for testing for mobile devices – might be outdated (like you say, maybe it doesn’t recognize it as a mobile device). I made a quick edit to change the default mobile check to use the built-in one from WordPress instead – wp_is_mobile() – does that help?

I spent a lot of time setting up the mobile version so that its smooth and fast, would be a bummer if there are serious issues with Windows RT.

Default-user

Yup! It is now working correctly on Windows RT! Awesome! Windows Phone still picks up the desktop site rather than the Mobile site though. (unless its a cache issue) I can help you with testing if the devices are not available to you. I’ve only just joined themeforest so I am not sure if there is a private message feature – otherwise we can communicate via email if you prefer. I’ll keep trying with Windows Phone – just incase it was a cache problem.

Default-user

Just an update -even though Windows Phone is stilly displaying the ‘Desktop’ version of the site – it works really really well since you’ve applied the fix (it displays correctly just like it does on Surface RT). Since the Windows Phone has a fairly big high resolution display – I am pretty happy with that. It’d be great to get the mobile version working on it – but its not as urgent anymore. Any idea when you’ll package these new changes up for release?

WPExplorer

Good stuff. It sounds like the WordPress mobile check is much more up to date.

I’ll submit the update tonight when I get back from the gym. So you should see the changelog on the theme page tomorrow.

I need to go out and get my own device, it’s the only real way to truly test it. Its too difficult to fix issues with someone else telling you whats going on . Just another excuse to get myself another “toy” that I can write off on my taxes 8-)

Default-user

Haha – I agree. I would definitely recommend a Surface RT and/or a Lumia 920 – they are definitely fun toys but also definitely in the minority. Great to see you supporting us minority gadget lovers. I will grab the updated theme tomorrow and start updating my website. Thanks for all your help – will definitely be recommending your themes to my friends and colleagues.

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll have a look.

Hello, thanks for the theme. I’ve installed Wp 3.5.1 and i connot upload a logo image. Whem i press upload the upload window does not appear. Thanks

WPExplorer

Strange. The theme is fully functional with 3.5.1 – if there is an issue with the upload window try de-activating your plugins to make sure none of them are causing issues with your site.

Also you should try clearing your cache to be safe.

It doesn’t seem you have setup your site as described in the theme documentation or videos.

Here is the online version of the docs, but they are also included with the purchase so you should have them locally as well – http://www.wpexplorer.me/premium/theme-docs/photopro/#home

Here are the video guides (also on the theme page) -

That should help you get started, like you said it should be very simple to use the theme. Thank you for the purchase!

Hello

I’ve just purchased the theme, i’m upgrading from the KIN theme which had an awful scroller so Im pleased the demo of this one worked much better. I have created two temp galleries just to test it and although the featured image of each shows on the homepage, when clicked the gallery is blank.

Do you have any suggestions on what may be preventing this?

Cheers

WPExplorer

Have you “attached” any images to your galleries?

The way the galleries work is by looping through image attachments. What does that mean? In WordPress an image attachment is an image that is either upload to that post or that has been “attached” via the media library.

Easiest is to upload fresh images – http://www.screenr.com/Rpj8

But if you have images in your library currently un-attached you can visit your media library and attach them.

Default-user

Hi

Yes of course i attached images to the galleries, I added them from my existing media library. However, as a test I just deleted all of my old media and uploaded them fresh to the gallery and after that they were display on the homepage.

I then found that I couldn’t change the order of the images, even when rearranging them in the ‘add media’ screen. The order appears to be random, not based on the images title of order they were uploaded. Even more weird is that I then deleted all of the imagery on my homepage, and in the galleries, and the images still appear??

WPExplorer

You should be able to re-order the images via the media pop-up by dragging and dropping them. This is a core WordPress function, if that isn’t working then you might have issues with your WP install/setup or maybe you simply need to clear your site’s cache to see the effect?

Since you say you deleted images and they still show up, makes me think maybe there is a caching issue here…?

Default-user
robot83 Purchased

thanks for replying so quickly. It wasnt caching issue, i actually deleted the images directly from my hosting cpanel, only then did they disappeared from the homepage. Strangely now in the media pop-up there are blank thumbnails where the images used to be.

WPExplorer

Seems like there are some issues with your WordPress installation or your server…As these are all core functions non-theme related. Can’t provide assistance there unfortunately ;(

Hi, just a quick question: I’d like to remove “gallery” from the gallery permalinks. Instead of them being created with the url domain.com/gallery/photos1 i would like to have them just domain.com/photos1 – is there a way to do this?

WPExplorer

It’s impossible to strip the slug from a custom post type in WordPress. Without maybe some crazy server side configurations – you can google search it if you want, but I wouldn’t advise.

You can only change the name – see functions/post_types.php line 35 – re-save your permalinks after changing it.

Hello,

Great theme. It´s all I was looking for my website. Just an issue. When I try to display a gallery, the images are shown in reverse order and even unordered. You can see it here:

http://lopecampos.com/gallery/no-son-solo-cucharas/

29-28-27-26-25-19-20-21-22-23-24-18-17-16…

I´ve edited the page in the wordpress html editor and there they are ordered.

Have you an idea of what could cause this?

Thank you.

I see vgmaster21 talking about mobile device support. I have the same issues using Android 4 devices (Samsung Galaxy S2 phone and Samsung Galaxy Tab). Tested this with the default browser and Google Chrome.

Are Android devices also supported now? Or will they be in an update?

WPExplorer

I’ve updated the mobile checker the theme uses so it uses the default one built in WordPress. Can you test my live demo?

Default-user

On my S2 (phone) it seems to work correctly with the latest release. Great!!

But on my Galaxy Tab the images are still on other places. Large images are below the menu. Masonry images are displayed outside of the browser view area.

WPExplorer

I think the issue might be with WordPress. They probably need to update their mobile check function ( wp_is_mobile() ) – I would rather not add a lot more bloat to the theme (include a secondary mobile checker) just to support the Galaxy Tablet. Maybe there is an easy way to hook into the WP function. I’ll have a look and see if there is an easy solution rather then waiting for a WP update…

hum, although looking here: http://www.inpixelitrust.fr/blog/wp_is_mobile/ – it says it does support “Galaxy nexus Jelly Bean 4.1” – do you know what you are running?

Default-user

I’m using Android 4.0.3 on my Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1). The page http://www.inpixelitrust.fr/blog/wp_is_mobile/ recognizes my tab as a MOBILE device. So that seems to work fine. Thanks for having a look at it.

WPExplorer

Strange…

I’m getting a Galaxy Tab soon hopefully so I can have a look myself ;)

Default-user

More info: When I tell my Galaxy tab to load the Desktop version of the site, it works fine. I even see the Scroller working fine. So Wordpress really recognizes my tab as a mobile device. That’s OK.

But when I switch back to the mobile version, the images are below the menu or outside of the viewing area.

WPExplorer

It seems like it might have to do with the media queries then.

If you open css/mobile.css and remove line 98:

@media only screen and (min-width: 959px) and (max-width: 1024px) {

and line 158:

}

Does that help?

Default-user

Cool! Now I see the mobile view on the tab working correctly. So, this works! Thanks! :)

Unfortunately it breaks the Masonry view on my phone. In portrait mode: I see 1,5 image per line (the rest of the image continues on the next line). Only when I put my phone in landscape, it looks fine (2 columns). But for the time being, that’s OK.

WPExplorer

Ok cool, so it is an issue with the media queries – thanks for testing for me ;)

My guess is you simply need to decrease the min-width value for the gallaxy tablet only – see the previous comment where it says “min-width: 959px”. I think the Gallaxy tab might be smaller ( 800px ). So I’ll have to mess with those values to make a custom layout just for the Galaxy tab.

Ill pop this in the to-do list.

Default-user

Cool, thanks.

I tried someting else. I changed the line into @media only screen and (min-width: 960px) and (max-width: 2024px) {

I know, the 2024 is way too much, but now it looks like everything works fine. Tab, PC, and phone. I’ll have a deeper look at it.

Mind the 959 that I’ve changed to 960. There was some overlap: @media only screen and (min-width: 959px) and (max-width: 1024px) { @media only screen and (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 959px) {
WPExplorer

Sweet. Thanks for helping out with this dennisebben!

Hey AJ,

I’ve been pulling my hair out for two weeks here since purchasing this theme. The overall look and layout are great, and I’m hoping its that I’m new to WP that is causing my issues rather than design….

When I purchased this theme, I was under the impression that I would be able to drop galleries into pages and have them all linked on the sidebar. I’ve tried to make galleries within the pages, use galleries as attachments to pages, and just drop the photos onto the pages… What I’ve been finding is that the masonry layout that I set in the gallery creation is ignored by the page attributes when i insert the gallery.

So… I can click on the gallery itself, and it loads fine, but if i put it in a page and try to load it via page-link on the sidebar, I just get a 3 column thumbnail page instead…

Is there a plugin or a setting that I am missing? I have Gallery Metabox installed and that has helped, but so far no luck. You can see where I’ve gotten to so far with it at www.citrusphotography.ca/wp

Any advice helps. Thanks.

WPExplorer

I’m not quite sure what you are talking about “pages”.

The galleries are extremely easy to create. Have you checked out the video?

http://www.screenr.com/Rpj8

The galleries should all be setup via the custom post type. All you do is either upload fresh images when adding a new gallery or you can attach images in the media library using the “attach” link next to images.

When adding Gallery posts to your sidebar if you don’t see the galleries in your menu dashboard, click on “screen options” on the top right to enable them so you can add them.

Default-user

Hey AJ,

Sorry about the delayed reply. It was Appearance -> Menus -> Screen Otpions -> “Galleries” option that sorted out my issue. I didnt realize that those options changed depending on what part of the backend I was looking at (ie Galleries vs Menus).

For clarification, what I had been doing in regards to “Pages” was creating pages in the dashboard menu and then trying to insert the Gallery tags into them ( ie “[gallery id=”xxx”]” tags). Thats what was causing me to see the galleries that were set to appear in masonry layout to come up as just thumbnails.

Its sorted now, as far as I can tell, and I am nearly done. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

WPExplorer

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know ;)
