prepurchase questions…

is it possible to have the masonry design on the home page… when i click on an image… it goes to a blog page? i’m not looking to build galleries… i’m thinking of using the design for curating images for design inspiration. i only need a blog post to credit the image… possibly provided more contact information. this could be done in the image viewer as a credit as well if a blog post is not possible.

and the masonry design on the home page… is it infinite scrolling?

thanks. it looks so clean and elegant.

WPExplorer
  • Yes, see the masonry homepage style in the demo. When you click it will go to a gallery not to a blog post. See the video overview on the theme description so you can see how the theme works.
  • Masonry isn’t infinite scrolling. It just shows all your galleries by default or you can have pagination if you define a fixed number to show in the admin.
  • For the credits, you could use the image caption I guess that shows when its opened in lightbox on the single gallery posts.

thank you for the reply. i looked at the video earlier but review.

How do I edit the font for the menu? I can’t seem to get it right

WPExplorer
.widget_nav_menu{ font-family: DESIRED FONT NAME; }

Thanks!

Do I have to delete the old version of the theme to install a new version and will I lose my galleries, layout, css etc? Is there anyway to overwrite? I keep getting an error saying it exists already

Default-user

I checked both of them; they’re still not loading. I even reinstalled to no avail

WPExplorer

If you want me to log in and have a look you can open a ticket at wpthemehelp.com. I’m running the latest version on my live demo though (just replaced the files via FTP as I suggested) so I know for a fact it should work fine.

Default-user

Ok I just submitted it. Thanks

I just purchased this theme and loved the demo of it, but I’m immediately running into problems…

I followed your video tutorial step by step on how to make the gallery, but when I publish it and then view it, it gives me a 404 error. If I revert the gallery from published to “pending” and then preview it, it works just fine. I thought maybe its a WP thing, so I’ve been doing a lot of googling and they’re not much help either because it would seem as though this problem is only happening with the galleries and not any of the posts or pages. Could you help me at all with this?

I was also wondering how I get seperate menus on the sidebar like you had in the demo, and how I could make links on the sidebar to change the skin of the site with just a click.

WPExplorer

Hi there,

Thanks for the purchase!

The 404 errors is simply a permalink issue. It’s explained in the documentation under the Installing section and the “Activate & Save Permalinks” sub-section. Whenever you install a new theme that uses custom post types you need to re-save your permalink settings (settings->permalinks) to re-fresh your .htaccess file with the new slugs.

For the sidebar I create my menus under Appearance->Menu. Then use the custom menu widget to add them to the sidebar.

The skin selector is added for demo purposes only. I used the following plugin if you require something like that as well: http://codecanyon.net/item/css-style-switcher/150156

Default-user

Got them working! Thanks for the reply!

WPExplorer

Sure thing!

Is it possible to have my blog page in masonry format? For example it would show the blog post previews, before you hit “read more” in masonry format.

WPExplorer

Technically it is possible. But there isn’t any option for this. You’ll need to edit your CSS, enqueue isotope on the blog page and archives and load custom js to activate it for the blog entries.

Default-user

How do I do that? and what do you mean by “enqueue isotope”?

WPExplorer

Sounds like you need to hire a developer to assist you. Unfortunately for a $40 theme I can’t provide you with free support for a $200+ customization. I’m sure you understand.

Hi AJ, i was working on the mobile.css and im trying to get the CSS to make the images go horizontally, not vertically. I read through your earlier comments where u said i had to change the scroller to table. I cant get it to go horizontally. I am only touching the mobile.css. Here is the code that i changed:

/main/ body.mobile #content-left { position: fixed; float: left; }

body.mobile #content-right { position: inherit; float: right; padding: 25px 0; }

body.mobile #copyright { position: inherit; bottom: auto; left: auto; margin-top: 40px; }

/homepage scroller/ body.mobile #scroll_play_pause { display: table !important; }

body.mobile #scroller-wrap { height: 600px; width: auto; margin: 0; text-align: center; }

body.mobile .scroller-entry-img a { width: auto; height: auto !important; display: inline-block; }

body.mobile .scroller-entry img { max-height: 600px; max-width: auto; display: block; }

WPExplorer

This is way outside the scope of theme support. It’s going to take a lot of changes to do what you want.

hello i buy this one “PhotoPro – Photography WordPress Theme” but my worpress (thats is up to date) can`t install and say it`s because this theme does not have a style sheet “style.css” what i have to do?

Default-user

like i said, i`m not a web guy (and my english is not so good)... i will never discover te right css width to modify. You really canot help me? It`s only thing i want to change at all. thanks

WPExplorer

You should hire a web developer to assist you or request a quote from our partner at Tweaky. I dont have the time to waste modifying the templates for people for free. The theme is too cheap as it is! Please understand from my perspective.

Default-user

ok

Any issues with updating from 1.1 to 1.2.1 via the WordPress admin? Running backups just in case.

Excellent theme.

WPExplorer

Shouldn’t be. Easiest though is to replace your files via FTP ;)

Hi there

I have just bought this theme and LOVE it. I’m setting up my site atm and have got the galleries up and running fine. See http://www.soongkroeger.com

However, when I try to set up the homepage so I have my gallery displaying I do not have a ‘page template’ option under ‘page attribute’. It only has the ‘parent’ option displaying.

Please can you advise?

Thanks so much for your help. Brilliant theme!

WPExplorer

Great I’m Glad ;)

Regarding the template error is a very very strange bug that I’ve only seen like 4-5 times in my experience with WordPress and there isn’t really any straight explanation for it and 99.9% of the time it isn’t theme related.

There are some things you can try…

  • Try disabling plugins to see if any are breaking the dashboard
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • You can try reverting back to the default WP theme and then back to this one

Let me know if any of those work. If you do a Google search you might find a few more things you can try. A lot of times switching to another theme and back fixes it.

Default-user

Thanks for your quick response! I deleted a number of plugins and also updated to the latest version of Wordpress. This fixed the template issue iso that is appeared under ‘Page Attributes’.

However when I created a home page (using the homepage template) and changed the reading settings to that page it is coming up blank ie no images are displaying.

Originally when I was playing with it, I deleted the first three home pages and tried creating new ones – could this be the problem?

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Also, if I make the gallery my homepage, how do I get my Blogpost on the menu bar? Thank you!

WPExplorer

Have you created your galleries and set featured images for each?

Default-user

Um no I hadn’t set the featured images. Sorry – my mistake. Now it’s working perfectly. Thank you so much for helping me so promptly.

Hi,

I Have a question. I want to have a setup for my portfolio but it doesn’t work the way I wanted. For example

I have in the menu bar MODELS > PROJECTS>Project a

When I press models i already see the gallery’s of project a how can i have that when I press models i only see the sub categories like projects and not the galleries of the sub cat projects.

WPExplorer

I’m not quite sure what you are asking. But please note that support is for paid customers only. If you require assistance and are using a product given by your client, please request the purchase code or access to the support site – wpthemehelp.com

Thanks!

Default-user

Yes I bought ur product and have a key code.

I’m not sure if I’m the only one who is running into this problem, but when I make a “scroller” gallery with more than one image, one of the images is placed underneath the first image, rather in line with the other images.

I’m using the newest version of chrome.

WPExplorer

Sounds like javascript issue. Try disabling any active plugins, the most likely case is a plugin is adding js incorrectly causing a conflict.

I am interested in a template with a scroller but had a question. Is there a way so the scroller doesn’t move automatically but with user control?

WPExplorer

You can disable the auto-scroll but will require you editing the js function. Currently the scoller auto starts on page load and also when you close a lightbox or close an about/related photos section – as you can see from the demo.

Your javascript will need to be adjusted to prevent the auto-scrolling.

Hi, I am working on a photography portfolio with the theme. However I do not like the gallery bar on the bottom of the theme and it’s kind of confusing. Is there a way I can get rid of that?

WPExplorer

In the latest version of this theme there is an option to disable it in the Theme Panel under the “Galleries” tab.

If on an older version you can either update or you can edit single-galleries.php to remove this section manually.

Hello, I really love this theme and its simple and clean design. Currently I am using the masonery view on the homepage and tried to add the gallery name to each gallery. Unfortunately I did not manage it. Would be great if you could advise how to do it. Ideally I would love to have a kind of overlay on the featured image. Many thanks. Christian

Hi, sorry for bothering, but which file do I have to edit (inserting the

<?php the_title(); ?>

) for a title in a MASONERY gallery (not homepage!). already tried most of the files…thanks and sorry again.

Oh for single galleries look at includes/gallery-masonry.php

Hey, thanks for getting back to me so quickly the other day, I really appreciate it. I’m currently having a few issues that I’ve never seen before and have no idea how to fix. I’m working with my scroller galleries, and for some reason the images in the gallery are appearing differently in the gallery view than the images I uploaded. The images are lighter and have less contrast and clarity than they should in the gallery view. When I click the image and view it in lightbox, the images colors are corrected, but the images are still lacking the clarity of the files I put on the site. I uploaded the images at a much larger size and resolution than I would need to view these images – and the same files look fine when viewed on my flickr. Since I’m using this as my main portfolio and website; it is of paramount importance that the images displayed online look the same as the same as the files I upload to. Is this a common issue? Do you know of any way to fix this?

WPExplorer

Hi there,

Pretty sure this has to do with the way WordPress resizes jpegs. Are the images jpegs? WordPress tends to lower the quality a bit – I’m thinking maybe thats it?

You could try uploading the same image as a png and see if it produces the same result.

It’s really hard to know without having a look at the back-end. If you want you can open a ticket at wpthemehelp.com so I can have a peek.

I tried it and it didn’t work :/ but ok will do

Hey there, I’m having a few issues setting up..

First off, I know there’s most likely a simple solution, but I have a 2-tier menu using the Custom Menu widget, and I cant seem to get things organized. To paint a picture, for example sake,

Home About Gallery —weddings —event —lifestyle —etc. Services

I need to assign a masonry style gallery to each subcategory in the Gallery item. I have the galleries created, but can’t find a way to create that seamless menu I’m looking for. Also, I cant seem to find anything online regarding how to style my Custom Menu, and I was hoping you could point me in the right direction.

Also, sorry for asking such a stupid question, but would you mind walking me through how to update to version 1.2 without losing the progress I’ve made?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

WPExplorer

I don’t understand what you are asking here:

“I need to assign a masonry style gallery to each subcategory in the Gallery item”.

Also, in terms of styling the custom menu, I assume you mean the design? I can’t offer free design services so you will have to hire a developer for this or you can contact my partner at Tweaky for a quote if you know what you want it to look like.

Updating…it really depends. If you haven’t made any edits to the theme files the best/easiest is to replace all files via FTP. If you have updated any files, I assume you’ve kept a changelog, so you’ll want to update accordingly.

Alternatively you can download the latest version. Rename the zip to something else so then you can upload it via WordPress without it conflicting with the previous version and you’ll have access to both so you can switch that way.

oh frig, i bought this theme thinking it was a newer theme and responsive.. um, any update when that’s gonna happen?

WPExplorer

This theme isn’t responsive, but its 100% mobile ready. Have a look at the theme description.

Because of how the theme works a responsive design wouldn’t work as well as having separate CSS for mobile devices. It’s much better in my opinion. I believe the carousels, sliders are buggier and not as user friendly as the way I’ve set it up.

Maybe have a look at the theme on your tablet so you can see the mobile style.

Thanks for the purchase ;)

Hello!

Is there a chance to have more than 5 galleries on a tag(!) page? See here: http://www.christianspuller.com/gallery-tag/iceland/

THANX!
