Common WordPress Installation Issues

Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find this theme’s changelog?

The detailed changelog for this theme can be located at the following url:

Where is the video guide?

Where are the documentation files?

The documentation files are provided in HTML format inside a folder called “Documentation” that is included with your purchase. You’ll need to download the “main files”, unzip them and you’ll find the docs right in there!

How do I first setup my homepage?

  • Create a new page
  • Select the “Homepage” template
  • Publish
  • Browse to Settings -> Reading
  • For “Front page displays” select “A Static Page”
  • Choose the page created earlier
  • Posts page:” can be left blank (best) because you can create your blog page using the “Blog” template.
  • Go to Appearance -> Theme Options to edit your homepage options.

Why is my sidebar toggle button to open and close the sidebar missing?

If you are logged into your dashboard and you have your WordPress admin bar enabled at the top while viewing your site, then your little toggle button will be right under it and not visible. It should still be visible to everyone not logged in.

Is there a fix?

Definitely, you can add the following custom CSS to move the button down while logged in so it’s still usable:

body.admin-bar #left_content_toggle{ top: 27px; }

How do I add a menu to my sidebar?

It’s super easy. You can use the built-in menu system at Appearance->Menu and then use the “custom menu” WordPress widget.

I just want 1 full-screen background image on my homepage, how can I do it?

This would be really easy via CSS, see the example below:

/*set homepage background*/
.home {
 background: url(URL TO IMAGE) no-repeat center center fixed;
-webkit-background-size: cover;
-moz-background-size: cover;
-o-background-size: cover;
background-size: cover;
/*hide page*/
#post { display: none; }

Just be sure to set your homepage to a standard blank page so nothing shows up.

How do I fix 404 Errors?

If you are getting any 404 errors on your site most the time it can be fixed by re-saving your permalink settings.

Go to Settings->Permalinks and click the save button

How can I create unlimited sidebars a.k.a have different widgets on different pages?

Some people add unlimited sidebar functions built-into their themes, but I like to keep my themes as bloat-free as possible. There are already some great plugins out there for this. Here are a few to choose from:

How can I have just 1 single gallery on the homepage (display images that open in lightbox)?

How do I disable auto-scroll animation on the main slider?

1 – Remove line 376 in js/jquery.smoothDivScroll-1.3.js

2 – Edit js/scroll.init and remove essentially everything except the first smoothDivScroll() function.

3 – On the first function of the file noted above set autoScrollingMode to nothing:

autoScrollingMode: ""

How can I speed up or slow down the auto scrolling effect?

You would have to edit js/scroll_init.js and add a new parameter to the first function “autoScrollingInterval” so it looks something like this:

   autoScrollingMode: "onStart",
   mousewheelScrolling: "allDirections",
   autoScrollingDirection: "backAndForth",
   autoScrollingInterval: 10

Then alter the 10 value accordingly. A higher value will be slower.
