Hi I’m just about to buy your template, but do have a couple of queries beforehand if you don’t mind.
Thanks a million in advance!
Hi,
1. There are shortcodes to generate nice galleries like those: http://demos.ruventhemes.com/polyon/shortcodes/galleries/2. The size depends on the size of the image that you upload.
3. Yes.
4. Yes, all via a few clicks in the shortcode editor
5. No.
Best regards, Ruven
Hi, Ruven -
Will you be updating this theme to WP 3 .4.2?
Thanks! Natalie
The theme should run just fine with WP 3 .4.2
LOVE your theme so much. You did a great job with it. One of the best I’ve purchased. Getting ready to buy it a second time for another client, too. = )
With that said, rookie question from a non-rookie – I’m trying to move down the menu nav bar about an inch, but can’t seem to identify the code to this. JS file? CSS ? Thanks for your guidance…
Hi, Take a look into the “style.css” on line 3454
Hi Thanks a million for your clarifications and the shortcode gallery link! Can I just ask one more question please: You know in the galleries when you open an image an click through your images – in the pop-up window of the image you can currently see 1/5 and so on. Am I able to make this into a caption for each photo that is in my gallery? Thanks!
Currently not, but with the next update im planning to improve on such functionality.
i got a problem with the sidebar, the background become discontinue somehow. the code: http://waiwah.hk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Snap-2012-10-08-at-16.12.38.png the actual outlook(first one with “wide” sidebar style and the other with default style): http://waiwah.hk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Snap-2012-10-08-at-16.12.19.png the text in default style even disappeared: http://waiwah.hk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Snap-2012-10-08-at-16.12.51.png
Thanks
It looks like it’s caused by a div that is not closed. Aree you using a custom widget? Does the error occur on every widget you use?
I was modifying a widget to suit my need, but that actually happen on few other widget i used. when i try to fix the problem, i try to re-order elements and comment out the css, when I relocate a html form on the top and remove the css “form padding-top: .5em;” , it seems fix the problem, but i still dont what what is real cause.
By default that shouldn’t happen at all. I never had a anyone having issues about with it. So I’m thinking it’s either a plugin or a custom widget that breaks something. You can find the code for registering the sidebar widget area in the file “Polyon/lib/shared/functions/functions.php” on line 174. If nothing helps at all, you can create an admin account for the email support[at]ruventhemes.com and send me a mail with the login data and short summary of the problem within this email. Then I’ll have a closer look at it
sure, i will take a look at that file. if i create another widget later on and got the same problem then i will contact you
Is it possible to make the page title which I add into a page/post appear after the default wordpress title of my site?
Currently its: “polyon adds this bit : this is the default part in wordpress settings” I would like: “my default text : polyon adds this bit”
Is there a line of code I can edit to do swap this?
Sorry, not sure if I understand the question right. So you want to change the title tag in the header to the notation “Site Title – Post Title”? By default that is the case.
I know you are going to disagree, but on my site if I make a test post called “Test”, that page title looks like “Test : name of my web site” So – default is “Post Title – Site Title” Please can you tell me where to edit this to be the opposite way around. Thanks !
You can find the code that creates the page title in the file “Polyon/framework/frontend/functions/functions.php” on line 258
Hi again,
I have a bit of a pressing question related to the nav bar item above. I need to enlarge the header area height, but haven’t been able to for some reason. Once it’s enlarged I need to move the menu bar text over a specific area of the header image. I’m unfortunately still not certain where the code is to control this. Thanks for all your help. My client was published in an international publication today and there’s lots of traffic coming to her site, but the header is all crazy, so any help is certainly appreciated. Thanks so much again.
Hi,
You can adjust the header height from the backend in the “Header” panel in “Theme Options > Layout”. The menu bar text should stay in place. If further issues occur, please send me a link to the site so I can check it out myself.
Best regards, Ruven
Thank you
You’re welcome
I just purchased the Polyon Themeforest product. When install it in wordpress I keep getting this message after it installs.
Are you sure you want to do this?
Please try again.
What do I need to do? Is there a support line?
Hi,
Please follow the installation instructions here: http://docs.ruventhemes.com/polyon/#ins
If you cant upload it through the WordPress admin panel (e.g. because the server file upload size limit is too low), do it via FTP . Both methords are described
Hi I’ve just bought your theme and am trying to work my way around it.
getimagesize(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/~kevinbow/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Pukaki-Wild-galleryb7w.jpg) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/kevinbow/public_html/wp-content/themes/Polyon/lib/frontend/functions/functions.php on line 1341
What does this mean?
Thanks a million for your help!
Hi,
1. Please install and activate this child theme: http://cl.ly/K4Pb (but leave the original theme installed) to get rid of the error.
2. Please use the WP Menu manager in “Appearance > Menus” to edit the menu. Here more info: http://docs.ruventhemes.com/polyon/#content-custom-menus
3. This plugin should help: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/
4. Sorry, this is not possible.
Best regards, Ruven
Sorry, the error is still there. My current theme is now the child theme and I still have the original theme amongst my others.
But I’ve fixed the menu – thanks!!
Could you create an admin account for the email support[at]ruventhemes.com and send me a mail with the login data and short summary of the problem within this email, so I can investigate it?
Done. It should have sent you the login details.
I fixed the problem. I had an alternative child theme in stock that worked
You’re a star! Can I please also ask you: for my galleries, is there an option to have one large image with thumbnails of the other images underneath, rather than showing all images in the same size tiles? This would make it a bit less bitsy and more visual. Do you maybe have one of your clever shortcodes for this?
Ah, I think you’re talking about a slide show. Polyon has no such functionality, but there should be lot’s of plugins out there that can provide this
MediaTemple complained about the PHP code on your template, I have used their template at: http://kb.mediatemple.net/questions/793/Why+is+allow_url_fopen+disabled+on+the+%28gs%29+Grid-Service%3F#gs to get the site up online but they advise you adjust the to be more secure.
Hi, I host on MediaTemple myself. I know about the allow_url_fopen issue, but let me insure you there is no risk, since no other than the admins making indirect use of the function. Only an admin can upload images and I think you wouldn’t attack your own site
Hello Ruven,
I bought this theme and made the website http://green-valley.co
Since I have renewed my hosting, there is an error appearing on the home page,
Warning: getimagesize(http://green-valley.co/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/greenvalley_logo.jpeg) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP /1.1 404 Not Found in /home/content/83/7885183/html/wp-content/themes/Polyon/lib/frontend/functions/option_css_code.php on line 157
I saw similar queries from people based on your reply have also updated the rvn_resize_image function. In fact my original functions file has the godaddy fix function that you have supplied. Still the error is there. I will appreciate your prompt reply as a chunk of business relies on the website as well.
Hello There,
I just managed to sort it!
Thanks Anyways for making a great theme
Tarpit
Glad you got it to work
Hey there. Do you know if Twitter has changed something recently that would cause the Twitter Feed widget to stop working? I haven’t changed anything, but while the Twitter feed (in the footer and on each post) WAS working, it suddenly is not for many days. I am getting “Error while loading Twitter feed.” I’ve tried entering the username as @fcccanton and as just fcccanton. Both with the same results. Also, is there a way to customize the refresh rate of that feed (assuming we can get it working again)?
http://www.firstchristian.info/Any ideas?
Thanks for your feedback on this. Yes, I think there have been changes and I will investigate this and update the theme. Untill then, I recommend to use another WordPress Twitter plugin.
Hello, good job on the template.
I would really appreciate if you can help me with something. I’m trying to implement facebook like button next to the punchline, floating right of the “Put a cool and catchy slogan..” part.
I’m having troubles finding where to put the code, can you point me to the file where to implement this?
Please open the file “Polyon/lib/frontend/functions/functions.php”. Starting at line 1172 you can edit the punchline code
Thank you!
I have been looking into the SEO of the site, and the homepage H1 seems to be using ‘logo’ as the H1 text
This is my site source:<h1 id="logo"> <a href="http://www.mywebsite.com"></a> </h1>Your code looks like this:<h1 id="logo"> <a href="<?php echo home_url(); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a> </h1>Why isn’t the web site Title (as defined in Settings, General, Site Title) being used? Can I override this somewhere to use my own H1 tag on the Homepage? The site title is already being used in the content, also as H1 heading (which is allowed in the HTML5 specs). It would be bad SEO to use the same title twice.
bloginfo('name')does exactly what it’s supposed to do, it outputs the name/title of your website. If you don’t like it, you can of course modify the theme on line 50 in the “header.php”Looking at what I said above, this might be a similar problem to what I mentioned earlier regarding you mixing up ‘bloginfo’ and ‘wp_title’.
Should the above code contain wp_title instead of bloginfo – because the home page is not a blog post, and therefore bloginfo will always be empty.
Again, bloginfo is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, it outputs the name/title of your website at all times.
bloginfo('name')has nothing to do with your blog. It outputs the name at all times, not only when you’re on a post.wp_titlewould instead output your current page/post title, but not your sites name/title. Please read this section on the WordPress Codex for clarification: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_title#ExamplesOk, the more I look into this, the worse it gets… On every created Page, there are 2 x H1’s. (1) the logo (2) the page title
This is really bad SEO , and I would like you to amend the theme so that only one H1 tag is present throughout each post / page as per normal web standards expect.
It is not bad SEO . The HTML5 specs allow you to do that. I know the old XHTML specs don’t, but this theme uses HTML5 (see doctype). But again, if you don’t like it, you can always modify the theme however you want to have it
What Google says is good is not in any way linked to the HTML 5 spec. According to Google, there should only be 1 x H1 per page.
Anyway, the ongoing problem that I have seems unique to my web site. For some reason the ‘bloginfo’ and ‘wp_title’ do not work properly with this theme. Firstly they get swapped around on each page, and secondly, the home page does not add the bloginfo(‘name’) into the H1 tag as I mentioned in my original post. Where do I start looking to work out why the theme doesn’t use the info correctly ? Or can I give you access to look into it? Thanks, Justin
Hi Justin,
If you don’t want the H1 tags around the logo you can remove them in the “header.php”. It’s weird that bloginfo(‘name’) is not working. I don’t think it’s a theme issue, but maybe a WordPress Plugin issue. Have you tried to deactivate your plugins and see if it works then?
Best regards, Ruven
Hi Ruven
I’d like to implement a print friendly version on select pages and posts (excluding home page, blog home, all articles listing).
Any suggestions on how I would go about implementing this (aside from downloading a 3rd party plugin which will just link to their remote site to run the print version)
I’d like a PDF version button too but first with the print
Many thanks for your help as always
Best regards,
Alex
Goringe Accountancy Firm
Hi Alex,
I’d just write a CSS file for print and link it in the head of the theme
I don’t know much about PDFs, so here maybe a plugin should come in handy.
Best regards, Ruven
Hi Ruven Thank you for a beautiful theme! I am just having a problem with the logo not displaying. I have inserted as a png and a jpg but it is still not showing up in either case. Could you point me in the right direction. Thanks!
Hi, Can you send me a link to your site, so I can check it out?
