Is there any instructions on installing this theme? I tried uploading the ZIP file, but it says it’s broken. Am I missing something?

RuvenThemes

Hi Chris,

Did you bought the HTML or WordPress version? This here are the comments for the HTML version.

However, if we’re talking about WordPress, please unzip the file you’ve downloaded. In there you’ll find the Polyon.zip. THAT ’S the theme and the file you have to upload a described in the documentation (which you also find when you unzip the file you’ve downloaded) :)

I do not have a polyon.zip file in that archive. Only “_MACOSX” and “Polyon – HTML Template (1.5)” folders. Neither of those folders contain Polyon.zip either. I’ve tried a different unzip utility also, but got the same results. Inside the “Polyon – HTML Template (1.5)” folder, I have “Documentation”, “Graphics”, and “Template” folders. I’ve tried manually installing from the template folder with no luck.

Hi Chris,

yes I’m afraid you purchased the HTML version instead of the WordPress. Here is the WordPress version: http://cl.ly/CFt0 (it hase even more features than the HTML ;)

Hello Ruven,

Thank you for the great theme. I was wondering the easiest way to upgrade Polyon from 1.1 to 1.2. Do I have to uninstall the 1.1 before installing 1.2?

The issue I am trying to fix is that I am using the three columns on the home page as you have them in your dummy-content. I want a partial story and a Read More link. I also want an image for each story. What I don’t want is the images to lightbox out to a photo slideshow. I just want to either turn of the linking of the images or at least make them their own thing and not tied together. I appreciate any help you can give.

I have taken the step of setting you up with an admin account already, just in case. ;-)

Thank you in advance.

Hi Scott,

I assume you’re talking about the WordPress version of Polyon.

All you have to do is to delete (or simply rename) the old “Polyon” folder in your ”/wp-content/themes” directory. Then simply re-download the new version from ThemeForest on “My Account > Downloads” and install it.

The update enables you to link the image shortcode to any page you want via the shortcode editor :)

Ah… I realized after I posted that I entered the HTML side by mistake. Yes, I was obviously talking about the Wordpress theme. Sorry.

The theme wasn’t uploading through the admin and I assumed I was doing something wrong since this is the first time I have used any theme other than Sandbox. I got it uploaded through the FTP way.

Thank you for the shortcode update. That was exactly what I needed.

Cheers!

Love the theme, but I can’t get the slider to work. The Nivo slider doesn’t work at all and the other sliding format just stacks the second photo on top of the other. What am I doing wrong? I have followed the documentation instructions.

RuvenThemes

Hi,

could you send me a link to your site, so I can check it out?

I think you might’ve installed the theme wrong. Please unzip the file you’ve downloaded here from ThemeForest. In there you’ll find the Polyon.zip. THAT ’S the theme and the file you have to upload a described in the documentation :)

Best regards, Ruven

Sorry, same as above but forgot to check email box

RuvenThemes

Ha, thats ok. I figured :)

Could you use the “Reply” link (above) to answer next time? This way it’s easier for me to keep track of our conversation :)

Ok, now the slider isn’t sliding. It is just stacking the different photos on top of each other. Any advice?

RuvenThemes

Hi,

could you send me a link to your WordPress installation, so I can check it out?

It might be that you didn’t installed the theme correctly. Please unzip the file you’ve downloaded. In there you’ll find the Polyon.zip. THAT ’S the theme and the file you have to upload a described in the documentation :)

Hi Ruven, I just bought the html version of Polyon & am a little confused about how to begin. I’m afraid I might need some handholding as this is the first time I’ve worked on a template like this. Do you have a list of basic instructions I could follow?

The main issue is that I’ve downloaded the template but I can’t edit (add my own content) any of the pages that were contained in the “Polyon (HTML)” folder.

Many thanks for your help! Juliet

RuvenThemes

Hi Juliet,

there is an extensive documentation included with the template. In there you’ll find some steps to follow. To edit the files, I recommend an HTML editor like Notepad++. Of course a little HTML knowledge is required. If you need something that works ut of the box and that you can control without any code knowledge I’d recommend the WordPress version of this theme: http://cl.ly/Cey8

Best regards, Ruven

Hi Ruven,

Thanks for your quick reply. I can’t seem to find the extensive documentation you are referring to – what file would that be in? Also I spent quite some time looking at the demo & it wasn’t clear to me that one had to have code knowledge in order to use it. If that’s true, what I bought is useless to me :( Is there any way I can exchange it for the Wordpress version & pay the balance?

Many thanks for your help, Juliet

RuvenThemes

Hi Juliet,

when you unzip the package you’ve downloaded here from ThemeForest, navigate to the folder “Documentation” and open the “index.html” file with your browser.

I’m sorry that it wasn’t quite clear to you that the HTML version requires coding knowledge. But let me tell you that every item in this category dose. Of course you can ask the Envato support for a refund to purchase the WordPress version of this template, but I can’t guarantee that it’ll work.

Hi Ruven,

Is it possible to change the colors of some shortcodes, like ticks, bullet points etc… and/or replace them by other png files for example ?

I tried to add some color=”green” in the <li /> but no luck :(

Thanks for your help!

Cyril

RuvenThemes

Hi Cyril,

yes, you’d have to change the images (PSD files are in the folder “Graphics”) and replace them in ”/lib/frontend/images” :)

Is there anyway to remove the sidebar menu on the homepage (wordpress theme)

RuvenThemes

Hi,

yes, it’s as easy as adding a class to the body tag. How to do that and what to add is described in the documentation in detail :)

Hello Ruven,

You are a wonderful programmer thanks for your good job keep rock…

I need a styleswitcher i like to change wrapper bg color please help me,

thanks, amin

RuvenThemes

Hi Amin,

you can change any colors via CSS . There is a “color_settings.css” file in the “stylesheets” folder. The styleswitscher in the demo is only for demonstration purpose and can’t save any changes.

If you need something like an interface to change things around, I’d recommend the WordPress version of the theme: http://cl.ly/D33A This way you don’t need any coding knowledge :)

Best regards, Ruven

OK, Thanks for reply

I bought HTMLPolyon v1.5. How can I change the color of the top bar navigation where About us, Contact, etc are. Right now it is a light grey. Thanks

RuvenThemes

Hi,

you can change the background through the style.css on line 2152 :)

Best regards, Ruven

So easy! :) Thank you very much.

Another question. Thank you. Is it possible in html to change the layout from a stretch one to a boxed one and also to add a header bar (where to put a phone #) like in the Word Press Template.

RuvenThemes

Hi,

With some CSS knowledge you could give the body wrapper a specific width and the center it to get a boxed layout. To get a header bar you could just copy the html code from the footer bar (and give it its own ID), put it over the header and then style it with CSS :)

Hi Ruven,

I bought the HTML version and I’m using PHP included.

I have some pages not on root eg http://www.mydomain.com/site/page.php

What code should I have in _header.php to link properly to stylesheet on all pages, included on root and in a folder please?

Thanks Dominique

RuvenThemes

Hi Dominique,

You could set a global variable that holds the page URL and prefix the style and script paths with it :)

Best regards, Ruven

Hi – how can i change the titles for each page. I noticed that the title is in the header file – so does this mean i have to have the same title on every page ?

RuvenThemes

Hi,

this can easily ba archived. Take a look at the first lines of the “index.php” for example. Just create a variable BEFORE you include the “_header.php” in your pages like this:

$page_title = "About us";
include '_header.php'

Then in the “_header.php” you just rewrite the line with the title tag like this:

<title>Polyon - <?php echo $page_title; ?></title>

I hope this was helpful :)

Hi can you give me help regarding the CSS ? if i edit the minified CSS will i break it ? in the docs file you mention that it has to be re-compressed …. how do i do that ?

RuvenThemes

Hi,

If you’re talking about the “option_css_code.php”, then yes, you can change it and it will not break if you don’t do a mistake. But please note that the code is cached, so when you edit the pure file, the code won’t apply right away. You have to hit “Save” on one of the theme options pages to recreate the cache :)

How can I change the punchline for a category I use as a page in my navigation?

http://www.axiomnational.com/test/category/news/
Default-user

Really? That doesn’t make any sense, does it? Where can I find the default text so that I can at least change it to suite me?

RuvenThemes

Hi,

You can change the default headline in “Theme Options” in the field “Default Headline” :)

Best regards, Ruven

Duh! Thanks, that helps!
