Hey,

fantastic template but I seem to be installing it wrong.

I open “PopGallery-TumblrTheme_1.4.html” in dreamweaver and set it to “code” so I have just the code, copy and paste it into “edit html” in my Tumblr. dashboard but it it’s not working.

I’m on a mac and tried opening it in “TextEdit” but it tried to interpret the code and display it instead of just showing the code straight up.

Is there anything else I could be doing wrong?

Hi,

Any chance that if I post a text – or article, and insert an image into the text as a “header”, this image appears on the front page as a thumb, not just ‘in’ the post?

to simplify it: I need image thumbs for text post on the main page

oh, and I forgot: any chance that I can use Top Tags (1-2-3) not just on image posts but on any other post?

I would really love to mark them with this Top Tag labels if I can.

I am not a huge html geek, can you give me advise on this?

Hi Misspato,

Hi Amatology,

The problem you are having has to do with the application that you are using to open the file.

Some apps parse the html files and don’t show all the code needed. So when you copy and paste you are only copying part of the code and that won’t work.

What you need to do is to open the file (the .html or the .txt file) in a simple text app. If you are using a Mac you can open the .txt file using TextEdit (open the app, then Open > Browse and select file). If you are using Windows, there’s NotePad I think.

You should have something like this (starting with <!doctype…. ending with ):

2 things: 1.) Can you add Google+ to the list of social icons available? 2.) I can’t get the Custom Tags 1 & 2 to work. Is there a trick to that?

Regarding your question, please make sure that you are doing 2 things to make Custom Tags 1 and 2 to work:

1 – Define the correct words in the Customize panel (1 word per tag and I recommend you always use all lowercase for tags)

2 – When posting photos, tag that post with one of those (just one per post)

Currently the theme supports 8 nav tags, but there’s a chapter on the Help.pdf file that shows how to add more items. Please check ‘Adding more tags’ on page 15 on the Help.pdf file.

Hi, just got this theme and it looks great. Few questions I have about extra customization. How can I do the following:

- change header space to be 200px high?

- add my tumblr description between Home link and Nav Tags

- for posts with multiple photos, make the thumbnail use only the first photo rather than then entire photoset?

- add more social media links than ones provided?

Regarding your question, you can use up to 2 prices and for that you’ll need 2 things:

1) When posting an image, in the description field, you can add a blockquote with a price per line;

2) In the customize theme panel, you need to check the option ‘Enable Custom Blockquote’. Then save.

Hi again!

Here’s my answers:

1) You can link the post using the Source field – this way other visitors will know where to find it. The price as a link inside blockquote wouldn’t work.

2) I’m working in the next update that will have 15 new icons (will be available in the upcoming days). However you can now use some currently – check the settings panel to see which are available.

Im really confused I have opened the .txt fill in text editor (mac) and have pasted this into my tumblr HTML field, all I get is a track playing in the preview window….no theme??

None of the text is HTML ….Ive used Tumblr for years so not new to editing and adding new skins, are the download files damaged or am I missing anything here?

EDIT : Fixed now opened the HTML file in Dreamweaver and cut from there….still havent a clue what is going on with the text file though?

That text you saw it’s the sample they have on Tumblr to preview the themes. It isn’t included in the theme itself :-)

I’d like to purchase this theme in order to sell some simple design related digital good’s. I just have two questions…

1. Is it possible to add in a featured item at the top of the grid that spans the entire width? Does an option come with the theme? 2. It is possible to add titles to the images on the grid either below or overlaying the thumbnails?

Hi Anthony,

Those two functionalities aren’t included in the theme. I don’t have plans to include a slider at the top (but it’s not out of the question) but I do have the plan to include the titles as an overlay in a future update (hopefully this month as I’m finishing it).

At first I’d like to say that the theme really looks great! Just a view questions about the homepage thumbnails: - Can I change the fact that if I want to avoid the tiling, that the image uploaded will only be displayed from the top-center. I have no idea to explain this differently…. (sorry) - Or can I use a different image for the thumbnail and the picture you see when you click it?

Hi sabinegrooters!

Tiling of the thumbnails is an option that you can switch off in the customize theme panel :-) When thumbnails don’t tile, they will be centered from the top and only that are would appear.

You can’t choose which image to be the thumbnail. Unfortunately Tumblr doesn’t have this option.
