I love the simplicity of this one, nice work!
Thank you!
Nice theme. Very clean
Thanks!
Nice, elegant work , good luck with sales
Thanks!
Hi dwoolf! such an amazing clean theme!
Two questions! Can I upload my own logo? And also, can I change the header color?
Thanks!
Hi,
You can change the logo and the background color / image right through WordPress using the theme options panel or new Customizer included with WordPress 3.4+.
Thanks for your interest!
Thank you! Gotta buy it and try
Thanks! Feel free to email me at woolf.david@gmail.com if you run into any problems!
Amazing theme! So clean and simple – I love it!
Thanks!
The bottom of my page has all all of my page headings bunched up into one long word. How can I separate them?
Hi,
If you mean in the footer, you just need to create a footer menu in the menu section. This is the same as for the top menu, it would just be assigned to the footer menu. All of this is explained in step 2 of the readme file as well.
I did fix the issue in an update, but the above will fix it and give the slashes between links just like the demo.
Thanks for purchasing!
Looks promising. I’ve got a lot of journalism (text, pdf, screenshots of articles) clips, and projects (photos, text, links), and tutorials (images, videos, text, links) that I need to modernize at calebclark.org. My firm need is that each piece needs a stable, searchable permamlink since some of my work is currently found and visited by a few hundred folks a day.
I’m wondering if there are examples of Portland available in the wild that folks are using that I could look at out there?
While I don’t have any examples of customers using the theme, each individual item has it’s own post page with that view item link you see in the demo. You can provide links to individual portfolio items and of course they are indexed.
Thanks for your interest and I hope this answers your question!
Hi There!
First off, incredible theme; I’m loving it!
A quick question.. next to like every page, by whatever is on it (at the top), it says “Nothing Here” to the left. What is that referring to and how would I go about getting rid of that?
Thanks!
Hi, that’s the default message when you aren’t using widgets. Simply go to Widgets under Appearance in the admin sidebar and add the ones you like. You can also use the full width page template for pages if you don’t want a sidebar.
Thanks for purchasing and I’m glad you like it.
Bought it. So far, love it. I’m working with a friend on customizing it. We’re getting a strange flash on first load of what looks like the original dark top bar in the middle if the page. Then it disappears.See my personal portfolio sitewhere I’m using Portland.
Also, for posts like this that were imported, any quick suggestions for how to format lists so so they work best with your theme?
For the bar, that looks to just be your site loading, but I’ll take a closer look at the theme demo to make sure.
For lists, that appears to be an oversight in the stylesheet, so I’ll get an update out right away. You can email me at support@davidwoolf.net for an update on those changes.
Thanks for purchasing!
I’ve been building out my portfolio with Portland. Before I put a tremendous amount of work in populating Portfolio items with my old projects, I need to make sure that 1. If I change themes is their a resonable chance I can use portfolio items in some other themes? 2. I have to have images in the gallery be clickable to see their original in full size. See: http://www.calebclark.org/?page_id=3702
Preferably this would happen in lightroom like the other image links on my site.
Any ideas or starting points would be helpful.
Hi,
The portfolio data will always be stored in WordPress, even if you switch themes, but you wouldn’t be able to pull that data into a new theme without some extensive work. You could build a new theme and call the data from the database using all of the variables, etc found in the Portland theme, but again this would be a lot of work. What I can tell you is that, if you switch themes and then switch back, you portfolio items should still be there.
For the overlay issue, email me at support@davidwoolf.net and I can provide some step by step instructions for getting that functionality.
Thanks for purchasing and I hope this answers your questions!
Hi dwoolf! I’m happy with the theme, but I have problem to make columns with the shortcode in the template “full with standard page”. The texts appear down and with another style css. I need looks like this: http://davidwoolf.net/portland/the-team/ Can you help me?
Hi,
Can you send me a link of an example? I’m not sure what the issue is.
I want design 5 columns, the shortcode that I write is:[layout width=”20%]text/layouttext/layouttext/layouttext/layouttext[/layout] And it does not prove, what is de correct code for design meny columns in te pages??
What you’ll want to do is:
[layout width=”20%”] your text [/layout]
Sorry, the help file has it stated the way you have it, I’ll get it updated.
Hallo David,
Thank you for a great theme! I did run into one problem though and was hoping you may be able to help me:
When creating a custom menu, drop downs don’t seem to work.
Thank you for your help!
Hi,
Do you have a link to your site? I just tested the drop down functionality, and it should work…
Thank you for following up, David! I eventually got it to work!
Great, sorry for the confusion!
Correction. It does work on the homepage but not on the other pages. Here is the address: http://markus-giesler.com/blog/site/
I see what you mean. The drop down menu you see on the home page is the mobile menu, which is triggered when the amount of links you have will not all fit on one line.
I’m guessing this issue is by using the default menu, and creating sub-pages in the WordPress dashboard. To get the menu to work correctly, you will need to create a custom menu by clicking Menus under Appearance in the dashboard sidebar.
Hope this helps!
I’ve been using a custom menu for this from the start and recreated it several times from the menus section to see if it makes a difference but it doesn’t work
Hmm,
Could you email me at support@davidwoolf.net with your site link and login details so I can take a closer look? Thanks!
David, I just purchased “Portland”. Can you send me the XML data? I’d like to load in all your pictures, files, etc like the demo. Thanks!
Hi Josh,
I received your email and will send you the file shortly. Thanks!
On the home page under the Portfolio, how do I change the “from the journal” to update to my stories? Thanks!
Hi,
In the WordPress dashboard, go to Theme Options under Appearance, and then you will find the setting near the bottom of the page under Text Settings.
thanks!
