Hello,

I know when you classify a product as being on sale, the product post will show a label saying “sale.” Is there a similar classification available for displaying products classified as being new? Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch! I’m not aware of one. This extension comes close:

I’ve been looking around and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

http://www.pokercrashcourse.com/blog/

I can’t get the blog to just show snippets. I’ve looked in the backend and the closest thing I can find is Settings>Reading>show article feed>summary. Any idea how to change this so it looks/acts like the blog in your demo site? (with a snippet + continue reading link)

(I did remove the post thumbnail for the blog page, maybe I broke something there?)

themesforge

Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch!

The blog on the demo site is the default WordPress blog – no changes to the core settings.

For items with the “Continue Reading” link, (e.g. http://proffetdemo.themesforge.com/next-day-delivery-coming-soon/)

Just insert the more shortcode to break up the post

Content on the summary page here

@splitsuit i just went to post a question myself and saw yours, which i may as well answer…... edit your post and if you’re in ‘visual’ view, just to the right of the ‘links’ options on the tool bar you have an ‘insert more tag’ button… put your cursor where you want the break and click this button.

If you are in ‘text’ view, simply put ’<!-more->’ where you want the break. This will then break the post and add a ‘read more’ link.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Ed,

Is there a way to add another ‘tab’ on a product page. So at the moment i have ‘product descriptions’ and ‘reviews’.... is there a way to add another tab?

Cheers,

Lee

themesforge

Hey Lee,

Thanks for helping out @splitsuit earlier :)

The easiest way to do custom tabs is to use this plugin

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/woocommerce-custom-product-tabs-lite/

or there is some nice code to do the same thing here:

http://www.benblanco.com/woocommerce-2-multiple-custom-product-tabs/

Really loving this theme so far, big thumbs up from me! One thing I’d like to do is be able to have all of my products in thumbnails in a grid on the homepage, rather than just trying to use the Featured Products widget. I could add all my products as Featured products, but then they’re in a sliding carousel, rather than in a grid. Any thoughts how I could do this?

themesforge

Hey merkin51,

thanks for getting in touch and for the kind comments :)

That’s a good idea. It should be possible to do this by modifying one of the existing widgets. Leave it with me as a feature request and I’ll let you know – should get to it in a few days :)

That would be great, thanks Ed :) Just another quick query, I’d like to play around with the formatting of product pages, specifically I want to move the thumbnails under the main product image over to the right, under the product description. Do you know which files I need to edit?

themesforge

Hi there markin51,

you’ll need to get familiar with WooCommerce hooks :)

/proffet/woocommerce/content-single-product.php is the best place to start.

Hey Ed, just wondering if you made any progress on being able to list all products on the homepage? Cheers, Tim

themesforge

Hey Tim,

Sorry about the delay on this. I actually did get a bit of time to experiment with this on my local dev instance but I’m not yet happy with the implementation. When you have a lot of products the grid can be quite large when means having to consider calling things like sorting filters and pagination etc. so I’ve put this on hold for now. I will get back to it in a few weeks and evaluate it again but right now I can’t promise that it will make it into the core release unless I’m 100% happy with it.

Best,

Ed

And now i want to edit spacing header menu. I want menu on one row.

Thank you.

themesforge

Hi there,

You have 2 choices.

1.) remove a menu item 2.) reduce the font size for the menu

experiment with smaller font sizes by adding the following to your custom.css

.nav a { font-size: 12px; }

If 12px is still too big try 11px

Best,

Ed

It work thanks!

Hello,

Is there an easy way to change the color of the menu bar and bottom footer from the current black to something else? I’m looking at a dark gray as a possibility. Also, is there an easy way to change the color of the “more info” bar under the products and the price bar in the homepage sliders? The red is a little to jarring for me. Thanks.

themesforge

Hi there,

Yes! The footer background is controlled from the Theme Customizer – check out the docs :) The menu bar is a css gradient which will need some css to be tweaked directly in layout.css (line 492)

.navbg {
    background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #363A3F 0%, #25272A 100%) repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    border-radius: 4px 4px 4px 4px;
    padding: 0 20px;
}

You can override that css by adding it to custom.css and tweaking the hex values for the colors.

Hope this helps,

Ed

Hi, just setting up a site using this theme and want to make the sidebar on the product full details page appear on the left rather than the right. Seems odd that when you are viewing a list of products the side navigation is on the left then it jumps over to the right when you view a product.

Presume it’s an easy change?

themesforge

actually it’s harder than it should be :)

But of course it can still be done easily enough.

open /proffet/woocommerce/single-product.php

replace the contents with

<?php get_header( 'shop' ); ?>

<?php do_action( 'woocommerce_before_main_content' ); ?>

    <div class="wooside three units first">
        <?php do_action('tfwoocommerce_sidebar'); ?>
    </div>

        <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?>

            <?php woocommerce_get_template_part( 'content', 'single-product' ); ?>

        <?php endwhile; // end of the loop. ?>

<?php do_action( 'woocommerce_after_main_content' ); ?>

<?php get_footer( 'shop' ); ?>

and one other small change, open

/proffet/woocommerce/content-single-product.php

line 13

replace:
<div class="nine units first">

with

<pre>
<div class="nine units">

and that should do it.

Ed
</div></pre></div>

Also how can I hide the ‘Add to Cart’ that hovers over the products when looking at a list of products and also the title on the main slider (just want to see an image, no text overlaid) and same with the deals on the right hand side of it. Many thanks

themesforge

Hey shine!

for the main product listing:

Just drop this into your custom.css

li.product a.button, .single-product .upsells li.product a.button, .single-product .related li.product a.button, .tax-product_cat ul.products li.product a.button, .tax-product_tag ul.products li.product a.button { display: none; }

for the main slider – that’s a bit trickier – the slider is designed to have a title/link displayed on it.

I’ve posted some code to do this before – let me hunt it out.

Ed

themesforge

actually drop me an email to ed@themesforge.com and I’ll send you the alternative code.

Hi! How do i remove the calculate sgipping button in the cart?

themesforge

Hey Jonasamb,

I’m not 100% sure about that as it’s more a WooCommerce plugin issue than a theme issue.

There is an article here but I’ve not tested this and it’s from before WooCommerce 2.0

Hi!

Thanks for the great theme, still working on my webshop and almost ready! 28th of april is the big opening! But now I have some small issues..

http://www.pixelparty.nl

- The top menu with (log in, cart and checkout) disappears when the screen resolutions is for tablet and phone. Why is that? And is it possible to activate it? And can I change the language titels of this menu? - Also have some other language issues, the cart: YOUR CART CONTENTS and the buttons are in English. Where can I change that? - In the footer I have my facebook and twitter account but the one with facebook in it is small. Where can I change this that my twitter and facebook area have the same width? Found this, but dont know where to change.. :<section class=”second-footer-widget one_third first”> Change to one_half both, instead of one_third and two_third?

Thank you very much! Very happy with the theme!!

themesforge

Hi there!

Re: Top menu disappearing – this is by design. It is removed with a media query – you could remove this media query but it will break the layout – you would have to do further redesigning work and that level of tweaking of the theme would be something you would need to do yourself.

Re: language – yes these can be changed – if you translate the theme using poedit or Codestyle Localization you will be able to apply your own translateable strings

Re: Your Cart Contents – same as above – look into theme translation using poedit.

Re: facebook in your footer – not sure what you are trying to accomplish? email me (ed@themesforge.com) a mockup of how you would ideally like it and I will tell you if it’s possible.

Ed

The facebook thing I already did, now it is the same width as the twitter! Found the sub_menu and changed layout (it already was decent!) Also did other changes to the iPad portrait mode!

Forgot one question: On a single product page, I need a text input area where the visitor can write some color numbers and then set the amount and click the “buy” button.. Any idea?

themesforge

Hi there,

To my knowledge this can’t be done with core Woocommerce – it sounds like you might need an extension to do this but I’m not aware of any good ones to do it.

You should check out the main WooCommerce site and see if they have an extension that could do this.

hi ed

2 things please

1st)

any deadline for the column issue with media gallery as discussed a page bckwd? ya said will be fixed in next release.

2nd)

I know how to edit lang files with poedit. as mentioned befor it requires hands on several files.

how does this whole PO thingy work? why I ask? isn’t there a way to crawl through top-level of the WP and create kind of new catalog, so that I can edit all translations in my child theme lang file? or how does it work then when plugin/them/core are updated?

it is simply a real mess the whole translation in WP as far as I am through it atm.

rgds, thewrath1

Hey thewrath1,

hi ed

thx for your reply and the timeline ;)

as mentioned I know how to edit the po file and do it exactly as in the video.

but as written there is a lang file in the theme, some in plugins some in core … spread everywhere :(

I would love to know how the po catalogs are created!

as written my idea would be to have all o files combined into ONE my_child_theme_language.mo in the end.

themesforge

Hi there,

Yes it is a bit of a mess – by design really as each theme, plugin, core has it’s own translation owners.

poedit is used to generate the po files. There is a good description of how po files are created here:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress

I think there would be a lot of fundamental tech redesign required to get it all into a single child them lang file :)

Hi Ed,

I am now very close to launching my site…. just a couple of things outstanding. I have installed an SSL certificate on my domain but it is breaking the twitter feed in the footer..

Viewing the issue in Chrome’s dev tools it says:

[blocked] The page at mydomain.co.uk ran insecure content from http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline/niftyprint.json?count=2&callback=jQuery18302057683658786118_1365715675339&_=1365715676467

Do you know of any potential workaround for this? I’d quite like to keep the twitter feed in the footer!

Thanks in advance,

Lee

themesforge

Hey Lee,

Great to hear you are nearly there :)

This was fixed in V1.3

only a minor change required:

proffet/functions/global/widgets/tf-twitter-widget.php

just replace http with https in the code fragment like below.

$.getJSON('https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline/<?php echo $tf_twitter_username; ?>.json?count=<?php echo $tf_twitter_postcount; ?>&callback=?', function(tweets){
                      $("#twitter_update_list_<?php echo $id; ?>").html(tf_format_twitter(tweets));
