Before I purchased the theme .. I read the comments about the excellent support given by it’s author. In fact, they swayed me to buy Purity over another I was considering.
Let me just say .. This past week .. not really sure the cause .. or even if that matters .. but my web site had quite a trouble. I worked on what I could before needing to send up a flare for help.
Filip went out of his way to help me .. He was responsive, worked with me at my knowledge level, and logged into my site to fix everything else.
As with anything else .. it’s all is good until it’s not .. and when it’s not, it sure is nice to have a helping hand.
Thanks again Filip!
And thank you for the kind words, I truly appreciate it! I’m really glad I could help.
Is this template responsive?
The WordPress version of this template is (I have it and I love it!).
Please let me know.
Thank you for the kind words!
The HTML version is currently non-responsive but I’ll definitely consider an update in a couple of days.
Yay! I really love your theme and I am recommending it to a friend. He says he wants a responsive theme, so if you could have it in an update in a couple of days. We’ll definitely wait to get it!
Thank you once again for the warm words!
All the best,
So far I love the theme, but I’m having a serious issue with images. I’ve noticed that a number of places in the theme use the crop_img function (in functions.php, line 423) to manipulate the image, presumably to make it look better.
The actual resizing (done in aq_resizer.php) first checks to make sure the image is local. For a number of reasons, I have my site configured to save/serve all images from an Amazon S3 bucket. So the image isn’t ‘local’ (technically), which is fine, but I would expect this function to simply return the url of the image as-is. But in this (and a number of cases), it just returns false. This has the effect of omitting any/all of my images from showing up.
Can you please update the this functionality to fall-back to the original URL? Resizing should be done on a best-effort basis; if it can’t/doesn’t work, fall-back to the original url. For the time being, I simply make the crop_img function return the url provided to it, and simply bypass any/all resizing.
It was a a pain to track this down and I definitely wasted more time on fixing this than I should’ve. I think it makes sense to try to resize and if not, just return the url. There is logic for this already – it’s just further down in the aq_resize routine. Just my 2 cents…
Aside from that, good stuff!
First of all, thank you for your extensive comment. The aq_resizer.php file is a third-part script called “Aqua resizer”. I’ve only modified it to allow resizing images hosted on my server (the ones imported in with the demo content). No one has ever reported any problems with it so I never really thought about introducing a functionality you write about. However, I like the idea of yours and will definitely consider upgrading the script in a future theme update.
Sure thing! I also ran into a couple other, smaller things. One may be worth fixing in an update, the other is more of a documentation thing.
First, I noticed that my site title was being repeated twice in the <title> element. To make sure it wasn’t a mysql issue, I queried ‘blogname’ in the wp_options table. Sure enough, it was correct. Then I went and read the WP codex for wp_title(). I’m not sure if this is a recent change or not, but in the notes, it is indicated that wp_title() shouldn’t be used with bloginfo(). Sure enough, if I remove the bloginfo() call, the site name is only shown once in the title bar. It seems like wp_title also emits the site name and not just the page title. For what it’s worth, this is an issue I’ve seen with three different themes (all of which combine the two APIs) and isn’t a problem specific to Purity.
The other issue was that I was trying to figure out how to shorten my blog entries on the blog page, to display ‘read more’. It just took me awhile to figure out that when using the_content(); you can specify <!-more-> and it will cut it off for you. I thought that maybe the manual excerpt was the way to go, but that doesn’t work. Not your fault or anything, but it may be worth documenting that by using a ‘more comment’ you force a shorter [preview] entry and a ‘Read more’ link appears.
Thanks again. Cheers!
1. As I read on other forums, the issue is caused by a SEO plugin that extends the wp_title() function to display both the page aswell as the site title. Thank you for pointing this out.
2. It’s just the More Tag button http://bit.ly/vUhEgJ that splits the text in two with the “Read More” tag. But I’ll definitely add it to the Documentation and the FAQ section.
Wow, thanks for looking into that! I know it’s a popular plug-in and one that i’m using. I didn’t know that, so thanks for the info!
Yep, the ‘more tag’ functionality is great, it just took a bit for me to figure out how it was actually working. Adding something to the FAQ regarding ‘read more’ and/or ‘excerpt’ would be great.
Any news on making this template responsive?
Please let me know.
I’m currently working on a new WordPress theme so I needed to delay the responsiveness update for this template. I’m really sorry for any inconveniences.
Ok, thanks for the info! Is it hard to make this template responsive?
I’ve just submitted the update to the review queue. It should be available for download in a couple of hours.
Can you please check my website and tell me, why the slider do not work anymore?
This is a HTML Template comments section. Please repost your question here: Link.
thank you for this nice theme!
It would be really great if you could bring an responsive upgrade for this theme.
I know that you have already planned this (and I saw that you made the wordpress theme already responsive) and I just want to thank you in advance for your efforts regarding responsiveness for this theme!
Thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you like it.
As I wrote somewhere above, I’m currently working on my new theme so I cannot give you a specific date of the update. But it’s definitely going to be there.
Hi there Filip. Really, really, really looking forward a responsive update! I’m considering re-building my site based on another theme just to add this, so it would be amazing if you could release it soon! I’m sure it will boost sales as this one is getting a little out of date.
Question: Is it possible to have a portfolio item appear under more than 1 filter option? If not that would be a great feature to have.
Looking forward to the update!
Thanks for the help.
Thank you so much for your kind words and the comment!
I promise to deal with the template’s responsiveness feature in a couple of days. Gonna have some free time this weekend so chances are high.
Answer: I’m really sorry but it’s currently not possible but I’ll definitely take your suggestion under consideration.
Thanks Filip! Glad to hear update is around the corner!
To impliment the update is it just a matter of placing the two new CSS files in the correct folder and inserting the links to them in every html page?
I’m sorry but no. You will also need to update your slider jQuery file aswell as it’s .css stylesheet (flexslider). As you can see, the new files have got an extra Navigation select menu for mobile view so you will need to add it aswell. I’m going to write a full update guide soon.
Any update on a guide for this Filip?
My Twitter widget no longer loads the latest Tweets. Any ideas on a fix?
It was fixed in a theme update several weeks ago. Please redownload the theme files and install the Twitter plugin I’ve included in the theme package.
I downloaded the new files and I see the new Twitter folder with PHP file in it. What code do I actually need to put in my webpage to run the plug in?
Also you mentioned an update guide…is that available yet or soon will be? I’d love to start using the new responsive templates.
I should have sent it to you right away: http://tauris.ticksy.com/faq/1108
I should have mentioned I have the HTML version. I did download the new files from the HTML page. The Twitter file is a PHP in the download.
I’m glad you like them.
Can the Menu at the top, Home|About|etc, be more than 6 items?
But of course. There is no limit for that except available space.
Hello – My name is Max and I purcased the HTML version of Purity today and am having an issue with the slider on index.html.
- p1.jpg is in the same folder as 5w.jpg
- p1.jpg is 900×380 just like 5w.jpg
- p1.jpg is 300dpi where 5w.jpg is 96dpi
If I were to replace 5w.jpg in the working code with foo.jpg and foo.jpg didi not exist, it produces the same effect that I’m having with p1.jpg. Do I have to modify the code somewhere else other than index.html or is it the resolution?
Thanks so much
Is there any chance I could see your site online?
I have not posted the site on-line yet – this is just my fist shot at editing the site on my local computer as this is not the wordpress version
Then it’s going to be truly hard for me to help you if I cannot see the site live. You may just drop me zipped files on my e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll take a closer look at it.
Issue resolved – I re-sized and re-cropped a new image from the origional with a lower dpi and it worked.
Veeted yesterday I e-mailed you a photo of myself that I was unable to get to work in the slider. I was wondering if you could test this image and see if you can get it to work. Thanks so much
I’ve just tested it on my side and the image displays perfectly fine in my slider. Are you sure you have a proper URL?
Hello – I have determined that the issue with the photo’s has someting to do with dropbox corruption. I am still researching
All right, let me know how it goes.
I just purchased this html template and I am having trouble with the contact form. When I hit send, it keeps popping up as “An unexpected error occured. Please try again later.”
What could I be doing wrong?
Thank you for the purchase!
Can you please share your website URL?
It’s really odd. Can you please send me your FTP login information through my Profile Page so I can debug it for you?
How can I view the mobile version of this template to see how the responsive portion works? Should the website look the same on an iPhone as it does on a desktop, just smaller? Or should it look like a mobile site?
First of all – thank you for the interest!
The ThemeForest’s frame blocks the previewed theme’s responsiveness. Please visit a direct link:
Please forgive my ignorance, but when I go to that link, it takes me to a WP theme. Does the HTML theme respond the same way as the WP theme?
I ask this because I did a website and an SEO marketer said that it is responsive and looks bad on mobile devices. When I look at the site on multiple devices it looks fine, and the Purity site appears to do the same thing my other website does.
Can you take a look at my other website and tell me if I am missing something? I want to get the Purity theme for this same website because the owners want to brighten up the site.
Marketer said it was NOT responsive. Sorry about the typo.
Oh, thank you so much for pointing this out. I forgot to update the HTML version while migrating into a new server recently. I’ve just updated the files, here is the link:
Once again, thanks for a reminder.
When I am looking at my site from an iPhone, I am not seeing anything that appears to be using the mobile-nav settings. I have seen other websites that use mobile-nav and there is a box they click and it contains there menu. What am I missing here?
Are we talking about your website or the demo one? Did you check the demo one on your iPhone?
My Site. I see how it works on your demo. I haven’t changed any of the code in the template other than the links they point to. Where should I look for the error?
Are you sure that you’ve got all of your files updated? Do you include the responsive.css file in your template files?
Do I redownload from themeforest?
when I go to the link above on my phone, it does not show the mobile nav. If I go to veented.com/themes/purity, it works, but that is the WP theme.
I fixed it by adding: <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no” />
Yes, you need to redownload the template files from ThemeForest.
I am based in Sweden and just purchased your Purity HTML.
I’m a beginner working with this but usually I manage to work things out!
Just realizing now that the three additional Swedish letters “å Å, ä Ä, ö Ö” are not included in the main font for the template.
Do you have any advice how to be able to include these letters, please?
Thank you for the purchase.
As for your quesiton, just download a bit more extended version of the League Gothic font and paste it into the /css/font/ folder:
All the best,
Thanks for the quick response!
OK I’ve downloaded and pasted the extended version into the css/font folder. But the special characters still don’t come up when I’m working on the page.
Is there anything else I need to do?
Can you please visit that link again and use the “Test Drive” tool to see if your characters are supported?
Yes the Swedish characters are supported in the test drive tool.
Although for ease of editing I have now purchased your WP version of Purity instead!
Please can you tell me how to go about installing the extended font version for the WP theme? Or please direct me to instructions if you have already explained this before!
Thank you for purchasing the WP version!
And sure: just upload those files into the /purity/css/font/ folder.
I’ve now uploaded the extended font in the purity/css/font folder.
I still don’t get the special characters when viewing the page. Is there anything more I need to do?
This is the first time I’m working in Wordpress, so any help to make this font work is greatly appreciated!
My apologize, it seems that they do not offer the extended version of the theme on that size. I’ve prepared a special .zip file for you:
Yes that’s it, all good now!
Thank you very much
You are welcome Natalie!
I’m having issues uploading jquery-ui-personalized-1.5.2.packed.js to a server, it is being identified as a virus? I imagine this is a false positive but is there any way around this?
It is of course a false notification since ThemeForest would never allow any bad or infected files on their servers. Anyway, the file has been updated long time ago, just redownload the latest theme files.
Thank you so much sir!
Is there a way or can you help with code to add Facebook feed onto the site?
I’m sorry but the theme itself does not provide a Facebook feed. However, there is plenty of plugins available for WordPress, like:
I purchased this version of the ‘Purity’ template. My website will be hosted by godaddy on wordpress.org (not.com). Is the version of purity that I purchased compatible with wordpress.org? someone told me the HTML version I bought is wrong.
I’m sorry but you have purchased the HTML version. You will need to buy the WordPress version:
You can ask for a refund for the HTML version at Envato Support Center.
I’ve been happily using Purity for a couple of years now on my site. I notice its now responsive.
If I download the files again, will I get the new code for the responsive version? What exactly do i need to install / change?
Thanks for the great design!
But of course, the upgrade is available for all Purity customers.
You can find a little update tutorial here:
Thanks Filip, but I’m using the HTML version on another CMS, not the wordpress version. What do I need to do to update to the responsive version if I’m only using the HTML and CSS?
I’m so sorry, I didn’t notice that you posted it via the HTML version comments section! And I’m so sorry but the responsive update is available only for the WordPress version. It would take a lot of code changes to upgrade the HTML version. If you want, I can send you a new responsive.css file from the WP version but I cannot guarantee it’s going to work perfectly fine as there were some html code itself changes aswell.
If you could send me the responsive.css and outline the basic changes, I can try and figure out the rest. Thanks!
Sure thing, just drop me a private message to veented@Gmail.com
Hi, really like this template but notice its a couple years old. Is it responsive or not? It appears to be but looking at the comments I’m not sure. Any plans to update this template any more with newer scripts or anything? Its really nice clean and simple… =)
PS – There are some php errors on the live preview. http://awesomescreenshot.com/07c5012719
I’m truly sorry but this template is not responsive. The WordPress version is.
Oh that’s too bad. The title says “Purity: Responsive, Clean, Minimal & Bold Template” so I wasn’t sure if the HTML version was or not. Thanks for the response.
