Is there any way to add a piece of content (logo or slogan) at the top right, opposite the logo?

Parallelus

Yes. In the headers you can add ANY content. To position it exactly where you want I would add a touch of CSS, but that’s super easy and we can demonstrate it for you on our Help Center.

Perfect! A client was looking for some certain things and a cutting edge look, and this meets all their needs! Thanks for another great theme!

Would you be able to demo the iframe embed code in wordpress post, buddypress activity, and forum post displayed from the youtube api blog. Would like to make sure it works without simply using the standard youtube http address. Here’s the link: http://apiblog.youtube.com/2010/07/new-way-to-embed-youtube-videos.html

Parallelus

I don’t think the code embeds in BuddyPress areas. There are a number of plugins for this I think. You can test the demo by logging in and adding content to BP areas if you like or install a default BP theme on your own site and test these features. We have not made any modifications to how BuddyPress or WP handle content so it will behave the same.

I’m developing a new web site and looking at several theme options for Wordpress. This one caught my eye. The people I develop for need a preview with their content before committing funds to purchase. Is there some way I could get a trial version.

Parallelus

Unfortunately there is not a trial version of themes for things like this. I would take screen shots and mock-up the content in Photoshop if they needed samples.

Looking forward to taking Razor for a spin :)

Trying to decide between Razor and Aggregate by Elegant Themes http://www.elegantthemes.com/preview/Aggregate/ Is it possible to add a top menu bar to Razor? How many buttons can fit on the main bar? I have 12 menu buttons I need people to be able to see. Can I create small preview types of images below the main one that is on Aggregate? I’m new at this, any insights are appreciated!

Parallelus

Adding an extra menu would require editing the PHP files, but it is not difficult and can be done.

Generally speaking, the main menu fits about 7-8 top level menu items. That’s typically plenty but if you need more space you can disable the search area on the right of the menu bar (in the admin) and add 3-4 more? The best way to get more space would be to decrease the padding on each menu item a little to save space.

I think you’re asking if you can have thumbnail previews of the slide show images? The slide show isn’t designed for that in this theme but if you wanted to take on the job it can be done through some customization.

This is very helpful. Thanks!

I’ve already built a website using the Salutation theme can I switch over to Razor without breaking Urls, losing members, links and settings etc?

http://www.drugsight.com/
Parallelus

You won’t lose any content or user settings in WordPress, but the theme specific areas like Design Settings, Layouts, etc. you will have to create again. They do not copy over since the settings are saved specific to the theme. All of your content should translate over very well since the core structure is nearly the same. The shortcodes are 90% unchanged so you don’t have much to modify in order to switch.

Help, After installing the RAZOR theme, i get the message error “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’, expecting T_STRING in /Users/user/Documents/Websites/www.website.com/wp-content/themes/parallelus-razor/framework/theme-functions/layout-and-design.php on line 1796”

Parallelus

Thanks for the quick find. I’ve updated the files and it should be approved soon.

To fix this open the file “parallelus-razor/framework/theme-functions/layout-and-design.php” and on line 1796 update it to the following:

$classes[] = 'bp-group-'. $bp->groups->current_group->id;

@tecarchi

Same here after updating from v1.0 to v1.1.

I am pretty sure there will be a fix in no time!

Already posted a message on the forum so it should be on Parallelus radar.

So for now stay on v1.0.

Hope this helps. ;)

Sorry, the error message is “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’, expecting identifier (T_STRING) in /homepages/11/d148702371/htdocs/wp-content/themes/parallelus-razor/framework/theme-functions/layout-and-design.php on line 1796”

Parallelus

Thanks, see previous reply for the fix. Should have v1.1.1 approved soon with this typo removed.

I’m not sure how it got there but I suspect my 2 year old may have been involved. Strangely, I don’t have this error on my live demo, so it happened AFTER I finished the update but before I zipped the files. I’ll have to be more careful about leaving documents open when I walk out of my office. ;)

Wow, this theme looks nice! Can I ask what is weight of the code of this theme?

Parallelus

It’s a robust framework, but it only loads components that are in use. For example if BuddyPress or bbPress are not active, those features and functions are never loaded. It’s much like WordPress, being feature full but efficient.

Default-user

I do want to use BuddyPress and bbPress and I am a bit concerned about the loading time of website. Should it be all right?

Parallelus

It shouldn’t be a problem. The PHP is very efficient and not something you will need to worry about.

Can you make multiple forms without a plugin or is only the contact form built in?

Parallelus

Yes, you can have as many contact forms as you need. They can all have different fields and options to present however you need using our Contact Form Builder.

I have a client who would be ideal for the Razor theme. However, his content production team are going to need some help with getting used to the functions and features available to produce the good looking blog posts and pages of which it is capable.

When are the tutorials and videos for specifically for Razor going to be available?

Parallelus

The video tutorials are being worked on right now. I am hopeful they will be ready by next week.

The administrative interface and options of Razor are more than 90% the same as Salutation so you can reference those video tutorials until the new ones are completed.

Parallelus

We do have some Tutorials (written) for Razor already published and more on the way:

terence_milbourn

That’s good news and I am very glad to hear its going in the right direction. What I really need ~ and I imagine, so do other re-sellers of your themes ~ is a tutorial or tutorials to show new users how to use all the functionality of just the blog interface and features. These are not like YOUR users ~ like me ~ who bought the theme and are busy learning how to get the best out of it, but employees who have been asked to contribute content and for some while have simply been given what native WordPress had to offer. I would like them to be able to learn how to use the functions and features from the prospective of how much better their blogging could look. Not from the standpoint of someone like me who has done it for years with many blog themes and for whom that holds no fear.

hi, I wanted to know how to remove the background image “architecture image” and how to translate your theme to the French language.

Parallelus

I believe the image you’re looking for is set in the “Appearance > Layouts > Headers” area as a background of one of the home page headers.

Translation is done using the included PO/MO files.

Good to see the theme was updated. I couldn’t find the demo section for the plugin bbpress. Is it safe to assume that it will look plain and stripped of all the styling since it’s no longer group forum? Holding back due to that concern.

Parallelus

Lost some time to a cold my 2 year old brought home and gave the entire family. I’ll try and get the bbPress demo section added for the next update.

Currently the theme has a number of custom features for bbPress and integrates it well into the Layout Manager letting you control the look of that section of your site. The actual forum styles are not customized to the look of the BP forums section, but some of those styles will be applied as much as possible. They are different in their ability and underlying code so it’s not quite possible for them to be identical without editing the bbPress template files, something that makes updates a lot more difficult for you and me.

Default-user

Get well soon for your family. Really appreciate your replies. It’s a tough choice for anyone that will depend on buddypress group forum. There’s no clear upgrade path at the moment and no timeline. The choice is either go with group forum minus the plugin compatibility or build all out with bbpress + plugin minus the seemless look of group forum. Hope you understand the dilemma.

Presale questions:

While using the demo I noticed that when an incorrect username or password is entered that I get kicked to the default Wordpress login: http://para.llel.us/themes/razor-wp/wp-login.php

Is there anyway to enable form validation with the same form that pops-up to “Sign into your account” on the frontend?

And I am also redirected to the default wp-login page when logging out. Can I just redirect the user back to the home page instead?

http://para.llel.us/themes/razor-wp/wp-login.php?loggedout=true

Thanks,

Abe

Parallelus

There is a WP redirect variable you can set for the popup login. You have to edit the PHP file specific to this feature to do it. You would still have to customize the popup to recognize or understand the invalid result response. There are plugins that will do these things for you by taking the user to a page on your public site rather than the WP login. That would be my recommendation as the easiest solution.

Im seeing some issues with the blog breadcrumbs.

Example: Home>Blog>Style 2>Category>Post Title. “style 2” should not be in the breadcrumbs(I can’t figure out how to delete it). Clicking the “blog” crumb should take me to the main blog page but it links to the current post page.

Also I am having issues with the featured images displaying correctly. I did not see a default blog layout included with the theme files? I want the blog to be set up just like the demo style 2.

Thanks for the help

Parallelus

The breadcrumbs are correct, we have the demo setup in an odd way in order to show all the different layouts. You should really create your own pages and setup instead of reusing the demo content and you will have much better results. Those are really intended to be examples and not used in a finished product.

It sounds like you need to review the help document to understand how the theme is structured and works.

There is a default blog settings option in the “Settings” menu. The blog shortcodes can override this.

Parallelus

You also need to review the shortcode documentation for the breadcrumbs (on the demo site) and you will understand how to configure the target of the “Blog” item in the path. It’s all there you just need to do some looking and find out how to use it properly.

ok, Ill keep looking. Ill go through theme support with any further questions however I’ve already spent some time going over the documentation. The blog shortcode parameters link in the documentation does not link correctly and there are other issues with blog that are not addressed in the demo documentation. Thanks for the help

Parallelus

You need to download the latest version, v1.1.1. The links in the help document were fixed.

I did download the new version and have been using the new documentation file. The links just send me to the parallelus website? – I figured some things out through the forum and found the other info on the demo site but im not seeing the link changes in the doc. Not sure what the issue is

Parallelus

It’s the capital “R” in the path “Razor-wp”. I was fairly certain I corrected all of these. I will double check.

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks really nice! I’m running a social network on Salutation theme. I’m wondering what additional features it offer compare to Salutation theme except that it’s mobile friendly? Do you plan to make Salutation responsive? Here’s a heavy competitor for Salutation.

Parallelus

The main differences from Salutation to this (other than the design) are the Retina or HiDPI ability, responsive layouts, and added “background slider” that rotates the foreground slide show and background web page images together and the just added layer style slide show.
