hi there, i can’t seem to get any menu items at all. Also, i’ve found that the PDF instructions download is corrupted.
here’s a link to my site, you can see I have no menuHi! You need to set these up from the Appearances > Menus panel
B
Thank you for this theme, works really great! I have a question about the ‘more’ tag. When I insert the ‘read more’ tag in the editor, the blog is not showing the read more link, but it shows the whole post.
I must be doing something wrong here, any ideas what this could be?
Thank you!
Hi Niekkes!
To extend your ability to customize that “excerpt” area and how it works, grab the recommended “Advanced Excerpt” plugin – we even have a video on how to use it here: http://youtube.com/makedesignnotwar
Thank you! It’s working like a charm now! Nice video’s by the way, very helpful
Kudos on this pleasant theme. I like your logo as well. so I am using the dark skin, and am looking at editing the subtabs and text to be a different color. I am looking at the skin-dark.css file to edit the text color. am I looking at the right style-sheet? also, what is the classes to edit the submenu’s bg and the submenu text color?
Hi Pulsatus – The best way is always to just use the Firebug plugin for your browser and then add your customizations to the custom CSS panel in the Theme Options page. To change the submenu color, you’d use something like this:
.sf-menu li strong{color: orange;} .sf-menu li span{color: pink;} #section-header li a{ color: red; } .sf-menu li li { background: blue; }thanks for your help Epicera…. Way 2 be!
Hi, how do I get the subheading in the navigation bar, like “Get Started”? Thanks in advance!
Heya JB! Go to the Appearances > Menus panel, open the Screen Options at the top right, and select the description box to enable this on all menu items
B
Thanks
how can I change the language of “Posted on Juli 8th, by” – is there no standard translation + timeformat for other languages? JB
Heya JB – Dates are notoriously tough to properly translate as the ordering changes from culture to culture – check out this link for some tips: http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress – The file in question will be single.php and element-excerpt.php
B
Hi! I love this theme, thank you!
Question – I have a static page as my landing page & blog on separate page.
I’d like to remove the slider from the blog page (or alternatively have a different slider if I must have one) but when I go into OTree and advise ‘Front Page slider off’, it disappears from both the blog page & the static home page.
I have tried leaving FPage slider ‘on’ and then adjusting the Page Options on the ‘Blog Page’ directly to advise I’d like the slider off – but that has no effect.
I’ve also used firebug and had a poke around the php files etc to see if I can locate anything, but perhaps my skills are not quite developed enough to see what needs to be deleted/added to get the required effect.
Basically I’d like the slider on the home page (a static page) and NO slider on the blog page.
Any help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance,
Polly.
Hi Polly!
You should be able to control all of this from the Skeleton Page Options on each page instead of the Theme Options value – just turn the Blog page’s FP slider OFF and the other page’s to ON
Let me know if that helps! B
just thinking out loud here and would love to hear any SEO perspective on the following.
Currently I have some blog posts being pulled into the main page. My concern is that upon every new blog post the keyword density and content would change which theoretically would constantly change your ranking for the index page.
I assume I could make specific blog posts sticky to ensure this does not change?
Or a better way would be to assign a static page.
thoughts?
Hi There, thanks for your response! I’ve tried playing with the options.. unfortunately it doesn’t work for me. This is driving me nuts as I’ve almost completed this job and need to submit it to my client.
I have images loaded into Option tree which are included in the ‘slider’ set. 1. OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘No’ HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – Yes HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No - – Result: No Image on News (good), Space shown for image on Front static page BUT no image loading within it. 2. OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘No’ HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No - – Result: No image on News (good), Space for image on Front static page BUT still no image loading within it. 3. OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘Yes’ HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No - – Result: Image on Front Page (good), AND image on News Page (bad)
Now perhaps I need to load images into the ‘home’ page to use the Page Slider ‘beta’ feature rather than using the Option Tree / Front Page Options area to load the images? I have tried deactivating plugins, to no avail.
Thanks again for any help you can offer!
See your next post
B
Excuse me, that was badly formatted.
1.
OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘No’
HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – Yes
HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No

2.
OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘No’
HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
- – Result: No image on News (good), Space for image on Front static page BUT still no image loading within it.
3.
OTREE – Front Page Options – Front Page Slider ‘Yes’
HOME PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
HOME PAGE – Show Front Page Image Slider – Yes
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
NEWS PAGE – Show Page Image Slider – No
- – Result: Image on Front Page (good), AND image on News Page (bad)
Heya Polly!
First, remember we have a support ticket system over here for this sort of non-quickie stuff: http://makedesign.ticksy.com
Next, I’m not entirely certain what you’re aim is here but I’ll take a stab – The homepage template that the theme demo uses is activated when you have your Settings > Reading panel set to “Your Latest Posts”... the page slider is a bit different if you’re using a static page – you just need to upload images into the page that you’re using as the static homepage
B
Hi,
Can you provide the logo template PSD please? In your document, it’s supposed to be included in Resource folder but it’s not there.
Cheers,
Unfortunately it was removed for licensing reasons
The font is freely available online (Clarendon is the name), but distributing it isn’t allowed.
Cheers! B
Ok thanks B! Will sort out and put a ticket in if I’m still struggling
Sorry to clog up the comments with mountains of questions! Have a fab weekend, P
No worries
B
Hi. Great theme! I’m just wondering if you could email me the PSD of the Reason logo, or tell me what font you used for it? Super work!
Heya J!
The font is Clarendon
I’m not allowed to distribute the file because of licensing, but it’s easy enough to find.
Cheers! B
Hi There, Love the theme… I Chose the “Big image blog” to be my homepage template. If a post has superskeleton Slider I would like that to show up on the homepage (like the feature image does now). Is there a tag I can put before the”more” tag, to display it on the page before the blog post?
Heya Daniel!
You can edit a lot of the excerpt functionality stuff with the Advanced Excerpt plugin – Unfortunately, there’s no way to add a slider preview as that’s actually tied to the individual post templates
B
Hi B, Thanks for getting back to me. That was what I was afraid to hear.
I saw a script you could put in the loop, that checks if there is a gallery in the post and then shows the frontpage if there is, but I guess that the slider is different.
<?php if ( strstr( $post->post_content, ‘[frontpage_slider’ ) ) echo do_shortcode(‘[gallery columns=”1”]’); ?>
Thanks again
Heya Daniel!
Yup – the issue here is that we’ve done a ton of work getting the slider to work in the 16-column full width layout… getting it to work in the smaller 12 column area for the blog excerpts is sorta a pain (not to mention that things might break if we load more than one slider per page as the options right now are all based on having just one).
Sorry I can’t help more on this one – it’s a great idea from a usability standpoint, just a pain to code for the handful of people that might use this feature as we’re talking possibly a couple days of custom work.
I’m here if you have any other questions though! B
Hi there. Bought the theme and I’m having trouble implementing separate pages. I’m making a very simple site with four separate pages that can be selected through the menu. The problem is, in addition to being viewable tby clicking through my menu tabs, the content of all four pages will show up stacked vertically on my home page. How do I prevent this from happening?
Heya Silent!
I don’t quite follow this one… got a link that I can peek at? Or better yet, file this question at http://makedesign.ticksy.com
B
Hey.
I just bought the theme. Like it! But the Theme Options seem not to work for me. I downloaded the Option Tree Plugin (version 2.0.3).
The Theme Options are empty. Does the theme have to be updated too to work properly with the plugin?
Please help. I can’t use the theme until this is fixed. Thanks alot!
Sam
Heya Sam!
They just released that version of the plugin this morning… and it seems as though the entirely changed the way the options are loaded (not cool of them). I’ll get you guys a new copy of the theme ASAP today that works with their new version – till then, you can install the old OptionTree version and it should work as expected
B
Hi epicera,
FYI … The slider is not working on the theme demo. Not seeing any images. I remember seeing this theme a while ago and it was cool. Considering purchasing but need to be able to review all theme features before deciding. Please take a look at the them demo when you get a chance.
Thanks Scott
Thanks for the heads up – you caught up mid-theme update
It’s all updated and working as expected now.
B
Hello,
I’m getting a wordpress error when trying to install this theme. This is what I did: Appearance/InstallThemes/Upload
I browsed to the folder and uploaded the .zip file for this theme.
Then hit Install Now.
It take forever then I get this error: Are you sure you want to do this?
Please try again. Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/update.php on this server.
Please help.
Thanks
Hi Fernanda! Contact your webhost on this one – permissions errors are usually on their side of things. As a WP admin, you should always have permission to upload a theme
B
Got it to work.
Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template. Name Description Reason WP 1 .9.4 Stylesheet is missing.
So where is the Stylesheet?
Thanks so much.
Heya Fernanda!
You’re uploading the wrong file actually – you need to upload the file inside the Theme ZIP folder
B
Heya Justin!
That version was only up for a couple hours this morning – grab the new one that I put up about 2 hours ago – it’ll get ya up and running
B
OMG .. how do I file a support ticket.. Im getting crazy stuff here.
My looks exactly the same as the guys above.
