Is it possible to use a custom page as homepage to acheive: -
Basically I want it to look similar to default homepage but have the page content above the blog posts level with the top of the sidebar.
So: -
Main Col
—-—-—-—Side BarUNIQUE PAGE CONTENT here above blog posts.
Then underneath blog posts (in the format of the default homepage. Which has the tags etc that you select in the options tree etc)
Heya Jez! Yes, but what you’re looking for will require a bit of customization on your part. It’s tough to tell exactly what you’re looking for because your comment formatting seems a bit screwed up (themeforest does this ;)), but I’d recommend using a Full Width Blog page template, adding a frontpage or page slider to it, then add in any custom stuff that you want (like the superquote shortcode for a caption) and the blog posts will automatically show up below. Again, this is a totally custom thing on your part and might require some basic web development skills, but it’s totally doable. B
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the reply that helped me get what I was after. I used the traditional blog template as a starting point as a new page which will make a static homepage in WP and then added the extra page content in the wysiwyg editor and it is above the posts with the sidebar on the right, so no extra customization needed. Really pleased.
Thanks for replying on a weekend too.
Great Theme and support ! Jez
Happy I could help out! B
Hi Brandon,
Nice job on this theme. We love it. We’re running into an issue, however, that I’d like to get solved.
We wanted a three-column hybrid blog format for our home page, so we set that up as a page, set it as static home page, and that works fine. It’s set to display 9 items/page of a parent post category (of which there are hundreds of posts).
What’s not working (in Safari or Firefox at least) is the cycling between pages of posts. On the first page (home) I see the “Previous Posts” button as expected. Clicking on it takes me, as expected to ~/page/2 and looks good. However, the “Next Posts” button is missing and “Previous Posts” button takes me back to page 2. Changing the URL to ~/page/3 or any other number works fine to take me to that page, but still, there’s only the “Previous Posts” button that takes me to page 2.
Any ideas? I’ll keep poking around and experimenting, but maybe it’s something you’ve run into before. From category pages, everything works fine, as expected.
Heya 981! I’ll be glad to check into this for ya – If you don’t mind, submit a support ticket to http://makedesign.ticksy.com as this might require me to log in and make some minor code changes for the pagination (WP is buggy when you use “blog-based” page templates as the frontpage and it usually requires me to copy the page template over as the index.php to work around their bugs ;))> B
Hi, I’m very interested in purchasing Reason or one of the Skeleton framework themes but I’m curious how well it plays with something like Buddypress?
Heya Watelmeron! There’s no verified BP integration yet, but that’s the topic of the 2.x update series this summer. The major thing to point out is that when we release full BuddyPress integration, the price will likely go up anywhere from $10-$20 as that’s the going rate of BP compatible themes right now
B
Hey,
Nice theme, i just installed it and it seems something doesn’t work or i didn’t set it right..
I’ve put in the sidebar the archive and category widgets but when i click on a category link, the filter doesn’t work, it lists posts from all categories. Can you help me with that please?
Thanks a lot, Catalin
Hi Catalin! Got a link that I can peek at? This was patched in the most recent update… so it might be worth updating the theme
B
Hey, love the theme so far but I managed to erase the code in the footer that lays credit for this to you. I mean the one that came with the original set up and said “powered by wordpress, theme by Brandon Jones” I would like to give credit for the theme, if you wouldn’t mind sharing that code, or where to find it?
Complete Noooooooob!!!
Thanks man!
Heya! No need to share credit, honestly
The theme’s there for you to use. You’re entirely welcome to copy the text back in there from the Theme Options panel in the area for the footer… but that’s there for you to change, not for me to leave my mark, hehe.
Cheers! B
Can’t figure out what CSS is making my images slightly disorted or fuzzy. I have set the slider height to be 374 which is the same height of the slider images but when I right click and view one of the images on their own it shows much more clear. Any idea as to what is overriding or affecting these slider images?
thx site: kalanmilley.com
Hey k! Try resizing your images to 301px (same height)... that’s the default item width for the slide count that you’re using and will prevent any stretching which is causing the slight blur on the text
B
When I try to import the demo data for the reason, most of the images fail to download. Like for example the following link has a 404 error: http://reason.makedesign.wpengine.com/files/2011/09/favicon.gif It seems to work in general but I was hoping to have some to the images as a working sart.
I’ll get a new XML file up first thing in the morning – we switched servers this last week so the old server’s demo images won’t work (everything else will naturally).
Thanks, an update would be great. How long does it take themeforest to update packages (I checked just a bit ago)?
Anywhere from 12 – 24 hours
You can always post a ticket to http://makedesign.ticksy.com and I can send it directly from there too.
B
B!! It’s me (again) just a little question as usual
Well, I give you the website, I just wanna know how to delete those “get started”, “theme basics” etc. under the “menu title ” please
http://noutcuisine.kimyalvarez.com/
I hope we’ll be able to answer today or tomorrow, it’s very important

Hi Paja!
Add this to your Theme Options > Skin (or Styling) Options > Custom CSS field:
.sf-menu > li span{display: none;}Cheers! B
I’ve put another background color to the container, but now how to remove the white background’s title? http://noutcuisine.kimyalvarez.com/2011/10/10/portfolio-post-1/
Try this snippet:
body, h2.title span, h1.title span, ul.tabs li a.active { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent !important; }Cheers! B
Really loving this theme, can the logo and navigation bar text be set up similar to your Reaction theme? I’d prefer if it wasn’t centered.
Thanks Hamish
Heya Hamish – Not without a bit of recoding those section to follow the same basic markup that Reaction uses… it’s not terribly difficult, but it’s also not something that I’d recommend to basic users unless you’re confident editing HTML /CSS
B
Looks great so far! Thanks
My pleasure Greg! B
Can you not change “REASON” on the home page to your own name? Do you have to have a logo to upload?
I’m not allowed to distribute the font file because of licensing restrictions, but the font is “Clarendon” which you can find on the web
B
Hi Brandon,
I’m having the exact same issue as 981bus described above. I’ll be happy to open a ticket, but before I did I just wanted to ask if maybe you found a fix that could be shared, and I could implement myself.
This a beautifully designed template, and bravo to you, sir. Thanks! = )
Heya Sortiv – This is a WP core related issue – so while there’s a fix, I’ll need a login to get into your specific theme and make a few adjustments to allow pagination on that page template
B
Brandon, it seems like the documentation .pdf is corrupt: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/144582/Screenshots/5e.png .
Is anyone else having this issue? (I’m working on the site for a client, hence the lack of purchase badge.)
Heya J! You sometimes need to use the free Acrobat reader if you’re on a Mac as their default reader doesn’t render everything properly
B
trying to switch themes today; for some reason my menu in Reason gets crazy; take a look here:
http://www.holyblasphemy.net/Resolved in your next post
B
Never mind, found my problem.
Ok
Thanks for the update!
B
Heya Teo – The tabbed widget is the likely culprit as it relies on a lost of custom JS to run it, but the sidebar loaded up pretty quickly for me. It might be worth looking into a Caching plugin to mitigate the loading time on those widgets
B
Hey Epicera.
I am trying to get some ideas and samples of short codes but the link from the live demo doesn’t seem to be working on the page below
http://reason.mdnw.net/about-super-skeleton/shortcodes/Check out the full “flexible grid” example <
--this is the link that’s bad.Would love to see some different column layouts, and uses of tabbed content etc.
thanks
Heya Special! I’ll see what I can do about assembling some examples (this page shows the columns for instance though – http://reason.mdnw.net/about-super-skeleton/flexible-960-gs/ ), but you can also use the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin for other shortcodes.
Can you fire me a quick code for doing 2 columns? I can figure it out from here I think/hope.
thx
Sure:
This writeup may help out as well: http://pastie.org/3616825
Ugh… so when i create a categories page it seems to show everything… i disabled the theme and the standard one works… i would really like to use this theme so does anyone have any suggestions… i have already tried changing the permalink structure.
thanks!
Heya Laempire!
Got a link that I can peek at? The category page should be pretty straight forward – either link to the category link or create a page, apply the blog template, and assign a category filter. A link will help me see what type of cat page you’re trying to set up though.
Cheers! B
Yeah… http://abletonempire.com/category/liveracks/
notice the first post is uncategorized and the other is both categorized proper and sub.
thanks for the quick response!
Hey i updated to Version 1.9.3 from 1.9.2… didn’t realize their was an update… seems to have fixed the problem…
thanks!
Ahhh! Yep – the 1.9.2 was only available for a couple hours as we patched that one up pretty quick

I’m having a hard time getting my front page slider to work properly. I have 3 images uploaded in the option tree, urls are posted correctly, saved, and nothing loads.
http://www.cassiekphotography.com/Am I missing something?
Heya Mrs – Because you’re using a static homepage, you need to turn on the FP slider from that page’s Skeleton Page Options
