2. is it possible to define how many features image will be displayed on the home page, how many rows etc… ?

No you can not add any side columns in product page because product page layout is designed in full width..
Not much clear about your second question but there is no any feature for home page to display products in multiple rows but if you want than you need to modify code

You can add around 7 or 8 categories it depends on category name

Awesome theme. A couple of questions: 1. Regarding the slider: – can the transition be set in a singular way? such as right to left? - is it possible for buttons to be added on a specific image of the slider? 2. Can the overall color be changed?

2. Yes you can change whole theme colors using theme settings module which is included in theme package for more information refer help file
