Great Template! I realy love it! Thanks!
I do have a question, and thats about the Events function. Is it posible to publish events to google calendar and/or maybe facebook? So you can easy add event to you personal calendar. .. Maybe with the help of a plugin? I installed All-in-One Event Calendar but that mesh up the site on IOS and mobile view. thank you.
There is no built-in events integration with Google Calendar or Facebook. You would either need to use a plugin or code customization. Here are other plugins to try. All in One Event Calendar is a popular choice, but I see you’ve tried it already.
My gallery page isn’t displaying as it is in the original theme. Only the title of the gallery shows. The images don’t show.
This is what mine looks like:
Please let me know how I can fix it.
Thank you in advance!
Please see this video and guide for setting up a gallery: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#gallery
Each gallery item represents one photo, which is the featured image. “Add Media” is for adding a WordPress gallery to any content. In the case if a Risen gallery item, the content should be only a description and not contain a WordPress gallery.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Thanks for replying Steven!
I had seen this guide but I’m not sure I’m getting it.
I added a new gallery item, set a feature image for it, specified the category it belongs to and published it.
So that’s only 1 image in the album of that category.
If I want 30 pictures, I’m going to have to do this 30 times?
Or is there a way to upload 30 pictures inside that album/category just one shot?
Yes, you need to add a gallery item to represent each photo or video. Each gallery item represents one image or video and requires a featured image to be set. There is no bulk add feature for gallery items. You can upload your images in advance in Media beforehand, however.
If you want bulk image upload for galleries you can use WordPress’s native gallery feature instead of Risen’s gallery. To use it, create a page then click “Add Media”. From there, you can upload multiple images and create a gallery on that page. Here are some solutions for adding a lightbox to the native gallery:
I have a background image which I can see fine – but I would like to select a different color for the main content area – I thought I could do this by selecting “Background color” – but it remain grey. How can I change the content background color please?
Cheers – T.
The background color refers to the background of the site. The content area’s background color is either light or dark, depending on the color scheme you choose. There is no option to change the content background color in the way you want.
You would need to make a code customization using a child theme to accomplish this: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme. styles/*/style.css would be of interest.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Is there any way I can add another page template and to it another side bar?
You can make a code customization using a child theme to add another page template and sidebar: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme
A simpler option may be to try a plugin like Simple Page Sidebars or WooSidebars. http://wordpress.org/plugins/
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I’m rho youn hyun
I have a question.
In the old days I could upload file successfully,
But Now I could not upload file. In succession,
What do the errors say?
Try deactivating all plugins in case there is a conflict. If the problem goes away while all plugins are inactive, then reactivate them one by one to determine which is causing the problem.
Do you experience the same issue if you switch to the default Twenty Thirteen theme?
What is your URL?
If you want to handle this by email, you can send a message to me via my profile page: http://themeforest.net/user/StevenGliebe (must be logged in) and I will reply by e-mail.
After much research…chose the Risen them to revamp our church website. There are a number of customizations I’ll need to do to get it where I’d like it to be…but will only attack them one at a time…so I don’t get lost and confused.
My sliders are mostly right justified on content and I would like to use the left third of the slider to place text.
And…is there a way to place a “GO” button to click through in the caption space?
Figured everything out but the GO button possibility.
Thank you for choosing Risen.
You would need to make a code customization using a child theme to make these changes: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme. Support is not offered for code customizations. You can find a file list here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#files. I can refer you to Tweaky for professional customization if it would be helpful: http://churchthemes.com/go/tweaky
Question…about updating the provided child theme…if you do update the theme…would that just be the main theme code…or would you publish a new child theme too? Just wanting to make sure that anything I do will not be overwritten. Thanks!!!
Only the main theme is updated. The sample child theme is just to get you started with your own code customizations. It becomes yours at that point and only you will ever update it.
I have a bug to report. See below.
I’m using your Risen theme on a Hebrew web site. Since I’m from Israel and my native language is Hebrew, I’m using the Hebrew version of the WordPress management tool. Also, all my posts are ‘justify’ aligned (which means that the text is aligned to the right and to the left simultaneously).
When I’m using all those options, the theme becomes not responsive, and it behaves very odd on the web site. It produces a lot of space (huge space!) on the left side of the screen when using a mobile phone with HTML5 browser. In order to view the site on a mobile phone, one must scroll to the right almost endlessly, so it’s almost impossible to view the site on a mobile phone, regardless of its browser version (the theme should be responsive). It creates many more problems.
To solve those issues, I tried to use the English version of the WordPress management tool (since its default direction is LTR- Left to Right). It solved the problems mentioned above, but it created another big problem: The entire site is left aligned (not ‘justify’!!!), including all text, posts, buttons’ text, videos, etc. A big issue it created is that all punctuation signs (”.”, ”,”, ”;”, ”!”, ”?” etc.) are shown at the beginning of each line.
In order to solve that problem and get a valid Hebrew visual view of the site (on desktop and mobile phones), including all the above features, I must go to each and every post, page, widget, button, control, text and embed into it the command\tag “direction:rtl;” in all relevant lines (and there are hundreds of them!).
Do you have any reasonable, much lesser programming solution?
What is the WordPress management tool?
Risen does not have RTL support. You would need to make a code customization using a child theme to modify the styles in order to accomplish this: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme
How do I write this code, so it solves all the problems?
There is a guide here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Right-to-Left_Language_Support
I recommend using a child theme for code customizations: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme
I was wondering if it would be possible to change “just” the font type of the “Proclaiming the Good News” area (top right of your demo content).
Many thanks -T.

Hi, love the theme! One quick question:
I really need to get rid of the page title in the header images. I have unchecked the “Show this page’s title below header” option on the pages but it still shows up. Please let me know what i need to do to get rid of it all together so only image displays on the individual page headers.
“Show this page’s title below header” applies only to the Page Header Override. Still, any time a featured image is used, a title shows over it.
When will the next version of risen be ready ?
With support for woocommerce ?
2.0 should be out early December. It’s done, just need to update a video, package it up and submit to TF.
No support for WooCommerce is planned at this time.
Hi, looks like a great theme,
i have only one question, is it compatible with wmpl ? or any other multilanguage program ?
waiting your reply to proceed buying the theme
Thank you for your interest in Risen.
I know some use WPML with it. However, the theme is not made specifically for any third party plugin so I cannot guarantee it will work without a hitch.
Happy Thanksgiving! Is there a way to display the galleries as slideshows instead of them clicking into large images?
Each gallery item represents one photo, which is the featured image. “Add Media” is for adding a WordPress gallery to any content. In the case of a Risen gallery item, the content should be only a description and not contain a WordPress gallery, which is what I’m seeing on your URL right now.
A quick question – I’m trying to widen the width of the sub-menus and I can’t seem to locate the digits which affect this. I’m sure its just been a long week and I can’t see the woods for the tree’s but if you know where this bit of code might be hiding that would be great.
Support is not offered for code customizations. I can point you in the right direction by saying you should use a child theme: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme. Whilst I understand that tech support isn’t included I’m not looking for any amendments to the code just a line number. The superfish menu is included in your template but has been put into the wordpress css code without the standard comments indicating where the settings are.
I’m looking for template support here and just knowing a line number will enable me to make the css changes to the menu widths. Again I’m not looking for a complete edit just the location of the code you’ve included in the template that is relevant to this. I can do the rest myself.
Support is limited to normal use and does not include guidance with code customizations.
Superfish supersubs configuration in js/main.js might be of interest.
I love the theme, it is a great upgrade from our last website!
I had one question regarding the “Staff” widget. Is it possible to change the widget name from “Staff” to “Leadership Team?” When I go to appearance>widgets and click on staff, there are no settings.
I’m glad you’re liking Risen. Thank you for choosing it!
Yes, each widget has a Title field (and usually other options) that you can change.
Are you clicking on the Staff widget that already exists in a sidebar?
Yes, I was clicking the Staff widget that was already in the side bar. It did not have any options to change the title. Other widgets had options, but the staff did not seem to have one so I wasn’t sure if the options were located somewhere else.
Are the options still missing? If so, try deactivating all plugins in case there is a conflict. If the problem goes away while all plugins are inactive, then reactivate them one by one to determine which is causing the problem.
Hello Steve, I am trying to upload the theme and get the following error:
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.
I have downloaded the zip file multipe times from ThemeForest thinking that the download might have been corrupt. Can you offer any suggestions?
Sorry for jumping the gun. I figured it out. Great Theme!
I’m glad you figured it out. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi Steve, I’ve just noticed something with the sermon audio player:
If I upload an mp3 file with whitespace in the name “My MP3 Audio.mp3”, the following code strips the whitespace out re-formats the file name like “MyMP3Audio.mp3” resulting in a 404 error which then causes the player to not work:
<audio class="audio-player" src="<?php echo esc_url( $audio_url ); ?>" type="audio/mp3" controls="controls"></audio>
I’ve removed the esc_url() function which seems to fix the problem.
Maybe something to look into for your next update.
Thank you for sharing this. esc_url() is a security WordPress function so I would be hesitant to remove it. I recommend using filenames without spaces.
Love the theme. It is making running a one man band a lot easier.
I am struggling with http://holynativity.co.uk when it is viewed mobile. It doesn’t matter what page I try to go to on the site, it brings up the blog. Is it possible to make it go to the page it is directing to?
On your preview if I scan the QR code it goes to your mobile site. As most people view the web via a phone, I need to be able to direct people to events or specific parts of the site.
I deactivated them all and reactivated them one by one. None of them made it go wrong. Weird.
Which mobile device/version are you using? I’ll try to test with the same on your site.
I am managing this theme for my church website and I want to update the theme to 2.0 without having to compromise all the information the website right now?
How do I go about doing so?
You can find update instructions here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#update
Your content and settings will be preserved.
Excited to finally purchase this theme. 2 questions:
1. Can I change the page link name in the navigation bar at the top from “staff” to another name if I am using the Staff Page Template?
2. Can I put additional pages or categories under staff so I have one for the Pastor, one for the Elders with a list, One for other?
Hope this makes sense.
1. Yes, you have full control over what shows in your menu. Please see this: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#navigation
2. No, the staff page template simply lists all staff members. There are no categories for staff.
