Does this theme support child themes, in case I want to modify but still update?

It hasn’t been tested for child themes yet. Stay tuned.

I am getting this message when I try to download it Unpacking the package…

“Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed. ” How do I install this theme?

You need to unzip the file you get from ThemeForest first. The zip file you purchased isn’t the theme itself, but a package of files (including the theme in a folder)

Still working on our site – it looks amazing, right out of the box!

I thought of an interesting idea, figured I’d run it by you and see how possible it would be. I think it’s more of a feature for the calendar plug-in, though.

We have so many men who serve communion, or preach on a rotation, it would be great to have an online resource they can go to (some don’t use google, and just want to ‘view it’ online, lol) so they can see who’s preaching next, or is part of the team passing out communion.

I thought about creating a second calendar, one that’s only accessible by directly typing the URL, or a small and obscure link on the main calendar page – something that anyone can get to, but isn’t the main calendar. Then on THAT page, have another calendar, just for the guys to see what’s going on. identical functionality, just a second event calendar specifically for job-rotation.

Anyways – just wanted to share the idea. Phenomenal theme – GREAT feedback from the congregation. I can’t wait to fill it up with content! We just merged a bunch of youtube videos from an old account, so once those new videos are named properly – (and when your ‘recent videos widget’ is finished) I think we’re going to have a SLAMMIN’ website.

btw – I tested and found out that your theme cooperates splendidly with Event Espresso – it’s a popular event registration plug-in that allows us to plan and register for events. Feel free to poke around at: http://www.LibertyInMechanicsville.com

Thanks again – great theme!

Fantastic, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the theme! So guess what? You can already do what you’re asking for, check this out:

Basically that first one allows you to specify categories to display with your calendar. So what you would do is create a category that is for “Job Rotation”. Then, on your main event calendar you would exclude that category by editing the shortcode to something like this:

[calendar categories=”#” excluded=”true”]

... where ”#” is the ID of the Job Rotation category (you can see the IDs from the categories page). Then you would create a new page, insert the calendar again and add the Job Rotation category ID WITHOUT the excluded tag (which will INCLUDE the category and ONLY this category):

[calendar categories=”#”]

Make sense? If not, I’ll set it up for you. Just submit a ticket with your WP login information: http://scheetzdesigns.ticksy.com

Awesome! Man, thanks! I should be able to handle this, but I’ll definitely let you know if I need a hand. Thanks again – wonderful theme and support!

You’re very welcome, enjoy!

Can I upload the Audio to Amazon S3 for the podcasts? (ie is an external link possible) or does it need to be uploaded to the site?

You can use an uploaded file OR an external link.

I have uploaded the theme, adjusted yhe substitutes for ’/post-types/sliders/cash ’ to 777, checked the uploads folder, but I can’t get the slider to work. Do i need to register the theme somewhere? Have I not seen something?

Great theme.

Hmmm, I’d have to take a look at it to see what might be going wrong. Could you submit a ticket with your login information? Thanks!

I posted there with Ticket #20714 2 hours ago… Do i need to register the theme somewhere?

Sorry about that, I respond to tickets as often as possible, however I tend not to log in during the weekend. I’ll check yours out tonight however. Thanks for your patience!

How do I switch on the Sliders which I created? The slider is off for me.

When you’re creating your homepage, you’ll see a dropdown to select which slider you want to display. You can do this for any page.

If I use the theme on one wordpress installation which is used for testing, is there a way to then copy that wordpress across to the actual site? I am trying to have a development/staging area and then the production area and wondering what is the best way to achieve this with wordpress.

This isn’t really a question for the theme, but more of a general WordPress question. I suggest Google to learn a bit more about migrating WordPress themes, but here’s a great post along with a plugin that migrates sites: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/119/how-to-easily-move-a-wordpress-install-from-development-to-production

How do I add a Contacts page so people can submit an email through it?

My suggestion would be to just install one of the great free contact form plugins that are available:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-plugin/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/

Or the best one out there that’s a premium plugin is Gravity Forms:

Does this theme have other shortcodes besides the ones listed on the demo site? Thanks!

Right now it includes what you see in the demo:

Columns, highlighted text, galleries, gallery albums, posts, audio posts, event calendar, event list, and single events. Each one has a button as well: http://cl.ly/LVBh

I have a issue that just popped up and not sure if it’s to do with updating to 3.5 but if you look at http://wp.synco.me you’ll see threre is duplicate content being generated on the front page. It only happens when you activate the 3 rows of widgets.

I also have a small CSS issue on the http://wp.synco.me/resources/calendar-of-events/ where there is some basic misalignment.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Looks like you’ve done some editing to the theme files, could you have broken something possibly?

My blog posts are not showing up even when I changed the settings in the ‘reading’ panel. www.indianeducation.com

That URL redirects for me. Where are you looking when trying to view Blog posts? You’ll want to link from your Menus panel to a Blog category.

1) Go to “Appearance > Menus” 2) Find the Blog category on the left. 3) Add it to your menu. 4) Click on it in your menu and voila!

Having a similar issue as katurahdesigns – when we change settings in the reading panel so that posts go to the blog page, not only do the posts not show up, but then the default home page shows up when you view the blog page.

You need to link to a Blog category to view blog posts. Go to Appearance > Menus and find the blog category and add it to your menu.

I’m sorry, I don’t get it. We’re just setting up the site and there are no blog categories yet, other than “uncategorized. Are you saying that, in order for people to get to the blogs, we have to add every category into the navigation menu? I’ve never come across this before. Do you have an example that I could see?

Yes, if you’re writing a blog you wouldn’t want them to be “Uncategorized” anyway. So create a category called “Blog” and then add some posts to it. Then simply add that category to your menu.

Hey man,

Great theme! Is there a reason why the column for Saturday is thinner than the other columns? It’s like that in the demo, as well as the purchased theme.

Yeah I’m trying to figure out the same thing actually. I’ll try to get this fixed on the next update. Thanks for the reminder. ;)

Fixed it! http://demo.scheetzdesigns.com/savior/event-calendar/

I’ll have an update out shortly.

I am new to Wordpress and purchased this theme to use for a website for a nonprofit outreach organization that I founded and I’m having a couple of issues.

The first is that when trying to enter an event I get this error: “Warning: Creating default object from empty value in C:\xampp\htdocs\wp-content\themes\Theme\savior\_theme_settings\plugins\ajax-event-calendar\inc\admin-event.php on line 25 “

Would it have something to do with the fact that I’m not sure what the following excerpt from the theme’s instructions means and was unable to complete these steps?:

“2) Set Upload Permissions. I think this goes without saying, but make sure your /wp-content/uploads/ folder is created and writeable by the server. Otherwise, anything you try to upload will not work properly. 4) Setup Custom Permalinks. If you haven’t already, go to “Settings > Permalinks” and set up your custom permalinks. You may need to create the “.htaccess” file in the root of your site. Make it writeable! Personally, I use the “Post Name” option. (more information)”

I apologize for the ignorance. Like I said I am brand new to this. Thank you!

I bought the them but in the download folder there is no ‘musician’. how do I switch from savior to musician? Thank you.

Savior is a multi-purpose theme, and to show that I created three different examples. You simply need to customize your theme to look the way you want it from the Theme Options page. Musician was one example of that, but it doesn’t come prepackaged with the theme. Sorry about the confusion!

Is it possible to only display events of a particular catergory on any page?

Yes, the calendar shortcode is customizable. http://code.google.com/p/wp-aec/wiki/ShortcodeOptions

Hi the slider is not working. I tried everything. Any ideas? And how do I change the menu color? And also how do I change the background for example only for the events display? I would like to make it look like in your ‘Musicians’ example. Thank you.

Hmmm, could you submit a ticket with your URL and login information. It sounds like some sort of conflict.

Sent a message to your contact with the info. Thank you for taking a look at it, I was almost giving up. Regards!

Maybe it will be easier if you can just send me the ‘Musicians’ example!
