The template should work fine in 1.7. Maybe the language strings for the contact form must be updated. We’ll check and if they do we’ll submit an update.

So if I wanted image/video galleries, would that be hard to do? I never worked with joomla too often.

We didn’t include any skins for specific extensions in the template but you should be able to find what you need in the JED . For image galleries we can recommend Simple Image Gallery. We’ve never used a video gallery specific extension but you may be able to modify AllVideos to suit your needs. Thank you for your interest.
