Common WordPress Installation Issues

Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Theme looks “unstyled” after activating. What should I do?

Please go into Scroller admin panel and hit “Save All Changes” button – default style settings will be applied.

2. How to reorder homepage layout sections?

You can reorder layout easily – just change publish time/date for partial sections.

How to setup service icons?

Please, look into documentation (11. Theme icons) how to add (and how to work with) icons.

How to make a map section?

You need to create brand new section and into ‘Map’ field paste generated code (embedded iframe). I recommend to generate 1920px wide map.

I want to create a section like your: WE DO PARALLAX! but I don´t know how…

Create new layout section (without ‘intro text’), set featured image for this section (or custom BG color). Then into content write your h2 heading, center it and add custom font color:

How to update Font Awesome font?

You can download latest version here:
and css files upload into ‘styles’ folder and font files (.otf, .eot, .svg, .ttf, .woff) into ‘font’ folder.

I have only three team members instead of four and need to center this section.

Add following code into style-custom.css

.warpbox {margin: 0 0 0 13% !important;}

In style-mobile.css override/disable this margin for smaller screens.

Link to external page doesn’t work.

You need to add ‘external’ class for external links (links to pages/posts/URLs). Process (+ screens) is described in in documentation.

I would like to change portfolio post url ( to something different, for example: (

In …functions\posttypes\ptype-portfolio.php file change ‘slug’ (myportfolio) on line 16. Is necesssary to re-set permalinks after change.

How to update theme?

- From download theme package.

- Unzip package (twice) to get main theme folder ‘scroller’ .

- using FTP, go to theme folder (“YOUR_HOSTING_ROOT/YOUR_SUBDIRECTORY/wp-content/themes/”)

- rename actual theme name to eg. scroller_backup

- Drag and drop new (downloaded) theme folder ‘scroller’ into theme directory: “YOUR_HOSTING_ROOT/YOUR_SUBDIRECTORY/wp-content/themes/”

- do nothing with website until upload is done.

How to change parallax intensity in Chrome? In Firefox is fine…

You can change parallax intensity (for Chrome & Safari) in …js/ownScript.js file: – increase highlighted value.

After change clear browser cache to see changes.

What is the difference between parallax effects in Firefox and in Chrome/Safari?

Parallax means that images are moving faster or slower than other website elements.

Images are more “fixed” in Firefox, in Chrome/Safari images are scrolling (with other content) – but are moving with different speed. In new Chrome/Safari versions isn’t fixed position supported (in combination with backface-visibility:hidden ).

Between browser engines are differences = advanced effects may vary.

style-mobile.css file is not loaded in child theme.

Into child theme folder put style-mobile.css file and add following code into this file:

@import url(”../scroller/style-mobile.css”);

style-mobile.css from parent theme will be imported; and if you want to edit (responsive) style, it isn’t necessary to edit parents style-mobile.css

I’ve updated theme to the 1.7 version and my service icons are gone…

In Scroller 1.7 is used Font Awesome 4.+ version.
Font Awesome versions (3 vs 4) are not compatible. You need to use icon codes from this page:
