Hi there, is there anyway you can make this theme boxed as well as stretched?

CapitalH

I have not included it yet, planning to add a style (profile) to support boxed layout too. watch for upcoming updates. There is going to be support for WooCommerce 2.0.1 too stay put

Just FYI there is a typo in the product image. Shouldn’t it read: SelfTitled instead of SeflTitled? :D

CapitalH

yeah, I saw it, sent new ones, waiting for the update. Thanks anyhow ;)

outstanding work! Can you customize colour options other than the presets?

CapitalH

yes of course you can, you have two sets of options in fact, one for the framework, containing all the presets, one for the theme itself, almost all the colors and fonts can be customized.

Any way to disable the color picker without going through jquery? Was looking through the documentation and settings but have yet to find it. Seems kind of silly to not be able to disable it, so I must keep passing it over.

Also going to push for WooCommerce 2 support :P But seriously, there is a lot larger audience upgrading for the additional features. I decided to roll back my WP installation and continue using my old theme until support for WooCommerce 2 is added. Other than displaying the products using prodcat permalinks or using WooCommerce’s short code, it pretty much works.

Also, let it be known that there is incompatibility with older versions of WooCommerce. I neglected to update to 1.6.6 before 2 was released and am stuck because this doesn’t work with an older version. Your documentation also describe a non-existing version of WooCommerce (“I only work with wooCommerce 1.8 for now”).

None the less a sold theme regardless. You may want to do some hand holding in documentation for any new users sometime in the future however. Great work.

CapitalH

Which color picker do you exactly mean? maybe I could help you remove it.

yes I noticed the wrong version number now, thanks for mentioning, will fix it in the docs.

About woocommerce 2.0, I have to say that it has just been out, but I am working so hard for an upgrade. About the support for older versions, well, nothing to say, I never move backwards.

Default-user

The color picker: http://i46.tinypic.com/1ggimw.jpg

Completely understandable, I know it was just released. Will stay tuned for the updated version whenever available. And no problem with not pushing backwards, just thought I’d mention it for anyone who was expecting legacy support ;)

CapitalH

Oh, sorry for that, that was not supposed to come with the theme, I must have packed the demo version for upload, will fix it soon.

Any how, here’s how to to remove it: go to styles -> capital-styles -> layouts open up template.php with a text editor and remove all the codes starting from:

<!- Demo Theme Options -> right up to <!- end of demo theme options ->

then go to styles -> capital-styles open up styles.css and remove all the codes starting from

/* Demo Styles / right up to / End of demo styles */

that’s it, you have just got your self rid of my mistake, sorry for that.

CapitalH

I am also sending new updates right now, fixing what you just mentioned, you can download them too when they are out.

Default-user
I’ve spent the past few days trying to figure this out, but still can’t. Even set up a test installation for this as follows:

3.5.1 WP install
Latest theme
WooCommerce 1.6.6

I set up the theme, set up the store, but whenever I try to use WooCommerce’s short codes to pull up a product category, no products are displayed. Also whenever I try to pull up a product category using the permalinks, no products are displayed. The same goes for the automatically generated “Store” page by WooCommerce. What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting that I’m missing?

CapitalH

clearly you are doing something wrong, other people have set it right up. I would be more than glad to help, but I need to see what’s going on, if you can provide me with the link to your site where you have installed the theme. and wp admin username and password.

Default-user

I figure as much, I’ll send you a message to my test server.

can I use this theme for free downloadable files ?

CapitalH

yes of course, read the docs for woocommerce 1.6.6 on their own site to learn to do so, this theme supports all the features that comes along with woocommerce 1.6.6

Hello CapitalH, great theme, love your work :D

Similar to how the shop page is, are you able to add a grid blog template for posts with a similar sorting dropdown (e.g. sort alphabetically) as the shop page?

CapitalH

actually that’s a good idea, and I think that would be doable. I might include it in the updates, and also in my next themes.

smartsites1

Thanks for the fast reply, I have just bought your theme now.

That’s great, I will look out for the next update of the theme and yes I do know how to code so I will look at that post and see if I can add it into a child theme of this.

By the way I am a big fan of the audio-to-text search option you put in the search bar, it really makes the theme unique. But are you able to make the featured image display on the search result page for each post and product?

CapitalH

Thanks for the purchase.

1) I am working on the theme to make it ready for WooCommerce 2.0.1, so first updates are focused on that area.

2) just a hint for the link above, create a drop down list using select/options, then use jQuery to target option values as links and you’re good to go. take a look at this:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5150363/onchange-open-url-via-select-jquery

3) I have just put “image in search results” in my customers wish list, so I might include it in the upcoming updates. again if you wanna dig into it yourself here is a hint:

head over to wp-content/themes/self-titled/styles/capital-styles/layouts open up search.php find the line where it says
// loop result
   while (have_posts()) {
     the_post();

add:

if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) {
    the_post_thumbnail();
}

where you want the thumbs to be included in the loop. You might want some customization though, read about wordpress thumbnails, wordpress thumbnail size and wordpress loop on codex.wordpress.org Good luck.

Make sure to make back ups first.

smartsites1

Thanks alot for that, will test that code as well and wait for the update.

I am having a problem though, I am having alot of trouble setting up the theme even with the documentation. Is there a way that you can help me set it up with default data, tell me how to set it up or add an auto theme setup module in the dashboard? I am only asking this because I do not know where to start…

CapitalH

if you want dummy data for your theme, you can use dummy-content.xml inside your theme’s root folder. Just go tools, import, press wordpress, install wordpress importet. after installation finished, press choose file and import dummy-content.xml into your wordpress.

If you have trouble installing the theme then I need a link to see where you are, if you are working on a local machine then tell exactly where your are and what you wanna do.

smartsites1

I am trying to upload dummy data now, the website I am working on is here: http://beta1.onlinemallsuncoast.com/

And I am also getting an error whenever I activate the “Capital Shortcodes” plugin. The erorr is shown in this image: http://beta1.onlinemallsuncoast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/error1.jpg

CapitalH

Ok, I think I need to see your admin to see what’s the problem. I have tested the plugin, running now on the demo site with no problem. You must have missed something somewhere.

if you’d like send me a private msg containing your username and password of the admin panel.

CapitalH

You also need to go to selftitled > framework options -> profiles now set the styles to capital-styles

smartsites1

Ok thanks I will send the details along. And there is no profile called capital-styles just default.

CapitalH

it’s in the profiles tab under framework options. Just where you can select color presets. Provide me the info and i will do it for you.

smartsites1

Hello CapitalH, no worries now, I finally found out :) Thanks for the help.

smartsites1

Hello CapitalH,

I have found the style options but I am clueless on how to correctly set-up the sliders and home page template.

If I send my website login to you can you fix it up?

CapitalH

Well I saw it, and you have succeeded in setting it up and right. Which part are you clueless?

and yes of course you can send me the log in info via private msg if you want, but first tell me what exactly you would want me to do.

CapitalH

I think you have set catalog images no to be cropped, that’s why product images have the image sizes wrong.

Go to wooCommerce > seting > catalog (tab)

scroll to the bottom where it says Image Options check “Hard Crop”

here is my sizing if you need:

Catalog Images: 300×300 Single Product Image: 600×600 Product Thumbnails: 100×100

you might need add product images again for the changes to happen.

smartsites1

I am getting used to the options and I have changed the catalog images….but how do I get the slider to stretch across the screen and how do I add a link and description in a slide?

CapitalH

That’s a good news

from your wordpress admin go to widgetkit choose slideshow tab create a new slideshow, (seems to me you have created one and assigned to slideshow widget position) click on the slideshow you created, on the right side under setting choose a style (in this case capital_fullwidth_slider) once the right style is chosen you will have extera options like Slide Heading, slider text etc.

you have 5 slider options for different situations, even testimonial slider in my theme demo is using widgetkit, just set the style to capital_testimonial_slider

CapitalH

in your wordpress widgets, you have widget named widgetkit, assign it to a position, from the drop down list choose your slider

CapitalH

And about your product slider > play with the width on the widget it self to get a good width according to your content layout

smartsites1

When I go to add a new widget-kit slideshow the only style that appears in the drop-down is default…....

CapitalH

so you have not added the styles yet. read the docs first, if you couldn’t do it ask me again and I would be more than glad to help.

smartsites1

Hello CapitalH, I have read all the docs but still not sure exactly what to do to make the widgetkit styles show….I am stuck.

Can you help me? :)

CapitalH

Along with the files you downloaded there is a file named widgtekit-slideshow-styles.zip

find it, unzip it, there is a text file inside it named how to use widgetkit slider styles.txt there is a full instruction, read it and you will see how easy it is. there is a link there too inside that txt file, to official docs of widgetkit itself, read their docs to learn more about widgetkit and what you’ll be capable of doing just with one single plugin. Good Luck Please let me know if you needed more help.

smartsites1

Thanks alot for the help, I musn’t of seen that folder, but I have most of it all understood and sorted now, Great Work :)

There is one other thing I do need help on, what height does the slider stay on so it works on all devices? At the moment when you resize the screen the slide images shrink properly but the height of the slide stays there and pushes everything underneath it down.

smartsites1

Also… can the audio to text in the search bar be made to work on any other browers?

CapitalH

Glad you finally made it.

1. Just set the height of slider to auto (simply right auto instead of the number) and the height would be responsive on any device too. in some situations based on the place where you use the slider and the content you put inside it the auto height may not work properly, but it will work 99.9 % of the time.

2. unfortunately audio search belongs to google, chrome belongs to them too, this technology is only supported by google chrome for now. it’s new, so we just have to wait and see what the future would bring us.

CapitalH

oh, btw, you have lots of effects for your slider, just in case you haven’t noticed yet. GLWS

smartsites1

Thanks for the fast replies and the great help CapitalH, Ok, I will set it to auto and see how it goes, and yes I have seen the different slider effects and they are all brilliant.

CapitalH

Your welcome, I’m glad I could help.

smartsites1

You helped me out a great deal :) And do you know when you are releasing another update for this theme?

CapitalH

I’m doing my best to release it as soon as possible, can’t promise a date. Just follow me on twitter/facebook to get the updates and news.

Is it possible to change the background with a photo?

CapitalH

yes, it’s in the theme options panel, you can easily set a color or a photo as a background for main background, buttons, pageinfo/breadcrumbs and even all 5 widget styles.

xtantk

Thank you. I’ll discuss this with the client.

Can you add social icons for pinterest and instagram for that little plus social icon thingy :)

CapitalH

with a bit of hack it would be possible to replace one of the icons with another, but based on the shape of the design which is circular I had very limited options and we can not add more except for some major css reformation in that area. all you need is a change in the sprite image and then add the link and change the tool tip text.

Default-user
sk619 Purchased

Not a bad idea :) All I would have to do is change the flickr icon and rss icon with the ones I want right? Also… last two questions, I hope hahaha. So how can I remove the star ratings and how can I keep good resolution on the product thumbnails. When I created products the mages for the “Shop” pages looked really fuzzy… Is it because it makes an auto thumbnail? Any ideas?

CapitalH

1. yes that’s right. I have included the psd file of social (icons social-icons.psd) exactly for this reason use it. keep in mind that in my design I use css for the background color, so u can use both psd or css

2. to remove the star ratings, in your themes root folder > woocommerce open up content-product.php and comment this line out
<?php include("in-archive-rating.php"); // shows product ratings ?>
or maybe remove it completely. you may need to add some padding or margin to the bottom of product titles.

3. Well I started with using high res images, set the image size in woocommerce setting like this: Catalog Images: 300×300 Single Product Image: 600×600 Product Thumbnails: 100×100 with hard crop “on”

the key is to use large images with some high resolution and then let woocommerce crop them to the sized you set in the setting page.

do some google, I guess there are some plugins to help have better thumbs in woocommerce, but I didn’t use any.
