Can you provide me with step by step instructions to help me set up the theme in a blog format please… what do you mean by “make sure you have set up a blog as a page” Thanks.

ThemeCanon

Hi, in the documentation there is a section called “Setting up the blog” :)

Default-user

I need to know how to configure Selfy so that my home page is the profile page and the second and third pages are my blog posts and contact form respectively.

ThemeCanon

Hi in settings/reading you can configure “Front page displays”, make sure this is set to “Your latest posts” to ensure that the Profile or Selfy home page is displayed, from here update the Home Page in Selfy Settings.

As for other pages, please update your menu to reflect what you want under appearance/menus in the main menu.

Menu setup, setting up a blog and contact form are all covered in the documentation provided.

First of all: absolutely love this template!

I’m just having one problem I can’t solve. On the contact page (http://www.bastiaanhuls.com/?page_id=39) are two titles (“Contact me“) and a line at the end of the article: [contact-form-7 id=”38” title=”Contact form 1”]. No further fields are visible.

The installation is quite clean: I just installed Wordpress on my server and installed your template and the XML with test data after that. Probably overlooking a setting to get a contact form, but can’t find which one.

The problem with two titles is solved, already. The title is (was) used in the title field and the ‘body’ of the article. Only the missing contact form left…

ThemeCanon

Hi, we recommend using the plugin Contact Form 7. The shortcode displayed is used by this plugin :)

Where do you download the latest update for the template? :)

ThemeCanon

Just download the theme again – this will always be the latest version :)

Hi guys, just wondering if anybody else is having SEO issueswith Selfy? I love them the look and feel of the theme but have noticed it possibly creating some strange ALT tags on the homepage of my site (http://robertryan.ie) – anyone know how to solve? Thanks..

ThemeCanon

Hi Robert, as I have also written to you in response to your support mail could you please point out where in the source code exactly these ALT tags appear? Only alt tags we use are for images and the content of these alt tags are whatever you put in the image properties in the WP media manager.

I’m having an issue using the gallery function. Creating the gallery with the WP functionality works just fine, I also see the Selfy Page Settings for said gallery. However, the gallery itself just doesn’t work. It simply displays the shortcode (i.e. [gallery link=”file” ids=”23,22,11,10,9,8,7,5,4”]) on the page. Is this a Selfy problem, or a WP problem?

ThemeCanon

Hi, I’m not quite sure I understand what you have done and where. Could you send us a mail (through the email form on our profile page) and include your URL and a working wp-admin login so we can check it out directly in the back end? :)

Does your theme has “turkish character” support?

ThemeCanon

Hi, unfortunately not. You would have to customize the theme and include your own fonts to make this work :)

Hello,

I tried to look everywhere for this option but didn’t find anything. Is there any possibility to change the sliders default background color? It bums me out when loading the page it first flashes a grey background.

ThemeCanon

Hi, yes this is a bug that we have fixed in the upcoming update. You can correct it manually by opening the file selfy/inc/templates/dynamic_css.php line 65:

#masthead {
change this to
#masthead, #slides {

Now you can control the background color using the Masthead background color option in Appearance settings. Sorry for the inconvenience :)

Thanks for the quick response, I got it to work! Everything looking good now.

oh a 13” mac it seems the words on the slider are cut on, and not vertically responsive

ThemeCanon

Hi, the images in the slider are responsive and scaled to fit the viewport, however as a template, the text can not be made scalable for this area with out removing the ability for users to freely use and add their own wording and word formatting.

One more question: Is there any possibility to add more icons to the front page statistic? I need Facebook Thumb for the icon to add “Likes Accumuleted” statistic. I see the icons are genereted by font, so if there isn’t any easy way to add more icons to the font itself, can this be solved by changing font to another?

ThemeCanon

Hi, There are two options to include extra fonts in the home page stats, one is to update the existing Selfy font, you would need to add new glyphs through a font creation piece of software. The second option that you already alluded to is to use a new font that has your desired icons. The easiest way to do this is to rename the new fonts as the same name and extensions as the existing Selfy fonts and then over write the existing fonts.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Awesome theme, but can I make the whole home page image slider a clickable image? The editor only allows for creating clickable text, but I need the entire slide a clickable link. thanks, Jamie

ThemeCanon

Hi, it’s not intended that the whole image be click-able and to make it dynamic would involved a fair bit of a rewrite of the slider. If you did want to make the image click-able and it was always to the one URL, you could do the following:

Look in folder: inc/templates/template_slider_masthead.php line 12

change:
<img src="<?php echo $canon_options_slider['slides'][$i]['image_url']; ?>" class="slide-img">
to this:
<a href="#"><img src="<?php echo $canon_options_slider['slides'][$i]['image_url']; ?>" class="slide-img"></a>

And update the href # to your single URL.

Thanks, just an FTI heres a simple piece of HTML code our Fiverr dev guy shot over. works great and no coding of the php files. Just pasted this into the slider “text” field: Note: remove the “blue” color from the code once the link is positioned correctly.

<a href=”http://goforgopher.com/schedule-now/” style=” z-index: 9999; background-color: ; width: 1130px; height: 400px; position: absolute; top: 330px; left: 15px; font-size: 0px; ”>link

Also if using an iframe, the iframe width is not responding, the command doesnt work, only the height tag works?

disregard this one, i got it working with %

Hi,

Really loving the theme BTW.

Couple of things. On certain browsers / resolutions some of the main content in the slider is cropped of by the div below it. Any way to resolve this e.g. how could I raise the position of the copy div in the slider OR can this be sorted dynamically?

Also, I would like to remove the HR under the main header as some of the slider images go under it at certain desktop sizes?

Is it possible to put images into the text area on the sliders? I want to put two logos into this space. I have tried but it seems to simply scale the image to the full dimensions of the slider.

Any ideas?

ThemeCanon

Hi, Sorry the jQuery slider will interpret any image in the slides as being the background slide, any images will be resized to fit the viewport. The only work around for this is to create an empty div in the slide text and set your logo’s as background images for that empty container.

Hi. I am trying to sort out the button hover text color. I have changed in the appearance settings to what I want but when I test it it does the opposite of what I expect i.e. it shows the hover colour when I roll off it and not over it?

ignore. Saw it at bottom of appearance as menu text color

Im having the same gallery issue mentioned above:

Hi, the answer is the same as above. Please be very specific in your email as I am still not sure what is being meant by this question :)

Hi. LOVE this theme – really one of the best I’ve seen. One thing. When opening the page in Mobile Safari on an iPad, the light line going across the masthead cuts into my head. Is there anyway to remove the line. I scoured the code but can’t find the . Was showing people at work and others noticed it too. Note it doesn’t effect the normal web version. I did try moving my self photo down but too no avail. Thanks in advance. You can see it at www.itschrismead.com (look at it on an iPad in portrait). Thanks.

ThemeCanon

Hi Chris, place this at the bottom of your styles.css

.header-container header .wrapper{
    border: none!important;
}

Hi,

I want to place an arrow / image into the text div in slider (I have managed this based on your previous suggestion i.e. empty div within text area with back ground image). Now I want to have this clickable so it scrolls the page down to the content under the slider (main-container). I have tried using an anchor which snaps it down but unfortunately the slider content then has disappeared when you scroll up because, I assume, the page is now mydomain.com/#theanchor.

You are using an arrow block bottom right to allow users to click to scroll back to the top. Is there anyway of re-purposing this to allow users to click down the page from the slider as mentioned?

Cheers

Hi,

I am having trouble with the contact form. I know it is a third party plugin but not sure what to do or where to look. The form says it has successfully sent an enquiry but we never receive anything in our inboxes. Any thoughts on where to start?

Hi guys,

I’m playing around with the “Use embeddable media instead of featured image.”

How do I use the embed function for imagery? It’s working great with Youtube and Soundcloud posts. But when I want an image or photo displayed in the blog posts overview page, somethings going wrong.

Cheers!

ThemeCanon

Hi, the “Use embeddable media instead of featured image” option is not really intended for use with images. If you want to use an image (and have the blog display that image) you should use the featured image for that purpose. The embeddable media is for when you don’t want to use an image but want to have videos og soudcloud widgets displayed instead. :)

Default-user

Thanks for getting back to me! I’ve got that one sorted so much appreciated. Next stop, the size of the featured image (or any kind of media) displayed in the blog roll is quiet large. To reduce these sizes, do I need to go into the php for blog page or is it a setting I can change?
