To see the email field: look at the left sidebar on http://lolamediadesign.com/demo/20seconds to see the email field is too wide for the column. 2) Also, please look at the blog section, The Handkerchief Ghost, and somewhere in the description I want to put in the image or part of the image you see in the first blog post. It could possibly be a background or a left-aligned image where the text wraps, but I want it to show in the header area.
3) Lastly, when I upload an image to the slider, it is not showing and I have set the pixels according to your instructions. I have uploaded them several times, so not sure what’s happening.
Many thanks again for your time and help with the theme.
Lori
Hi Leugs!
1. That’s actually pretty odd – what widget are you using for that? I can’t seem to target the CSS selector for the form element width though…
2. I can’t verify this off the top of my head, but try using just some standard HTML for the image:
3. Make sure you select the “File URL ” for the image before you hit the “Add to OptionTree” button, not the attachment URL
B
I successfully had it working several days ago, so its not a permission problem.
So sorry to hassle you! I really love the theme and so does my client, so I hope to get it all working soonest.
Thanks again, Lori
No worries at all Lori! (and thanks for being patient while I was out of the office this weekend) – Any chance I can get you to file this over at http://makedesign.ticksy.com so that I can also get a private login/pass to check this out for ya?
Thanks! Brandon
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the nice template. This may have been noted somewhere already, but this forum isn’t searchable. If you can help answer the below, great!
Scrolling Menu: How do I control the type size of this menu? Can I shut off the rollover/indentation transition? If so, where?
Blog: The blog break out row is nice, but isn’t exactly what I want. Is there a way to bring the user to a list page instead of individual posts?
Is there a way to turn the blog break out row into rows instead of a grid? (i.e. image on the left, title and text on the right)
Shortcodes & layouts: I’m a designer and new to controlling everything through short codes. I’ve done most of my styling through coding for the web.
I’ve read your documentation here http://goo.gl/EOAsI, but I’m still looking for other basic examples. Do you have any resources or examples that work really well with shape shifter2?
Please feel free to email me if this is a pain to respond here.
Thanks.
Hi CGI !
1. Basic CSS will let you control this stuff – for instance:
.sf-menu strong{font-size: 12pt;} .sf-menu span{font-size: 12pt;}That would cover the font size… and this:
.sf-menu > li a:hover { padding-left: 0px; }would remove the hover animation.
2. Sure – just use the Traditional blog page template… but keep in mind that you can’t use the page templates on the scrolling homepage template as WP won’t let us use a template inside a template.
3. I’m actually about to release a brand new shortcode system in the next update, but till then, check the end of the PDF documentation included in the file
Cheers! Brandon
Thanks! looking forward to those shortcode updates!
Hey there, my seconday navigation has some 16 secondary menu options, therefore creating an issue of the secondary navigation cutting off at the bottom of the page and unable to get to the final few menu options.
I’ve had a play around with Firebug but I just don’t seem to be able to move the complete secondary navigation further up the page!!
Any idea how I could do this?
Heya Park! Got a link that I can peek at for this one? B
I’ve had the same problem as leugs regarding searchbar width. Using the standard wordpress search widget but it doesn’t adjust well with the rest of the responsive theme. It would be ideal if it could be smaller/more responsive. Would love to hear the solution once it’s found.
Also I’m having trouble getting one of my pages to align blog posts properly: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/577/alignmentj.jpg/ http://whatsthebigdealnow.com/in-the-media/ Images are both same size and should be correct ratio. Any ideas?Sixth and lastly, any more thoughts about adding custom caption capabilities to posts instead of just pages? It would be great to be able to use text for a title, hide it (but keep it for SEO , menu and post caption purposes) and use a custom caption or image in it’s place, similar to how pages work.
Again, super impressed with your work and support so far.
Thanks for the updates on this D – I’ll follow up with you guys on the default searchbar and subscription form stuff this week
For the alignment thing – try adding this to your Theme Options > Styling Options > Custom CSS field:
.six.module-container{margin-left: 0;}I’ll consider the post caption thing as well – I hadn’t really considered that before for SEO reasons, but I think I can probably whip up a nice compromise version that includes a caption and doesn’t compromise any SEO .
Cheers! Brandon
Fix worked great. Thanks again!
Not sure if it’s related to the search bar issue but my “page not found” page is messed up and replicated the serarchbar in three places: http://whatsthebigdealnow.com/stapppdf
Ahh! Good catch – adding this to the bugfix list for this week’s release
B
Hey man! Thanks so much for all the support so far.
One problem I’m running into is that the site does not want to load properly on a mobile device right now. I just tested it on my Android, and an iPhone. On the Android, the browser crashes every time. On the iPhone, the page gets stuck. The background won’t load, and some of the images.
Here’s a link if you wanna take a look: http://revelation.westwinds.orgThanks!
Hi Mike! It seems to be loading up fine on my iPhone… but just to be safe, are you running any additional third party plugins or anything like that?
For me though, the site loaded in about 4-5 seconds on my 2 test iPhones… which is about normal. You can always speed it up with improved hosting, but that’s pretty acceptable for a mobile site nowadays.
Cheers! B
Hmm. Still not loading right for me. Even tried different networks. I’m using a couple 3rd-party apps, but none of them on the home page, really. Just Disqus comments and Sociable, I think.
The page mostly loads, but the background doesn’t. And it still crashes my Android browser…
That’s super odd – any chance I can get you to deactivate those other two plugins to see if they might be the source of the crash? This is the first crash report I’ve gotten in quite a few sales/installs though, so it’s going to be tough to pinpoint the issue if it is somehow theme related. I’ll do my best though! B
Tried it, then cleared the cache on my phone and reloaded. Still crashing. It crashes while it tries to load the 3 featured images on the home page.
I’m wondering if it’s because I stopped using sencha.io…
I quit using it because the link to the sencha image on a Tag page was broken. Might be worth looking into.
Thanks for the help!
I’ll check it out Mike – I’m actually about to strip Sencha from the template as we’re going to be moving in a new direction starting with the 2.0 releases… but I’ll keep that in mind. There’s a 1.9 update coming today, so maybe that’ll resolve it.
Cheers! B
Cool, sounds good. Will the update today allow me to add content to the portfolio pages, like we had talked about? That would be great.
Thanks!
Yup – that’s on the agenda as well! B
Cool! I’ll be watching for it. Thanks!
Man, I know I keep hitting you with them lately, BUT on this page: http://whatsthebigdealnow.com/faqs/sex-faq/ I’m using categories to sort through different FAQs. When I sort by a different category and then go back to “all” it cuts everything to a 3 column view and crams the vertical spacing, instead of keeping the 4 column portfolio hybrid that they’re all set for.
Heya Dr! I just got another similar report on this yesterday, so I’m checking into it and will be releasing a fix (if it’s possible) in today’s updates
B
Any news on the update?
It’s almost ready… still hoping to fit in a couple final tweaks and bugfixes based on some late-feedback today. If you’d like, set up a ticket at http://makedesign.ticksy.com and I can send over the update as soon as it’s ready.
Cheers! B
Hey there. is there any easy way to add another flexslider to a page that will show up on the scrolling landing page?
Heya DJ! Not yet, but I’m hoping to squeeze this into the updates coming this week for you and a few other people asking for this one!
Cheers! Brandon
Sounds Great! Can’t wait.
Best, A
For my comment above here’s a link:
http://action.innercityadvisors.org/Also my hacked together three column post display you see there, managed to totally break the scrolling functionality of the homepage. Permanently, even if I delete the pages. But I guess thats my own doing.
Thanks DJ! See my other response… this is on the way and the official release should be bug free when I get it out early this week
Great questions though and nice attempt on the custom coding… there’s just a few special tricks that I’ll be using to isolate some of the slider variables which will prevents the bugs that you’re seeing right now.
B
I am new to WordPress and to your theme. Absolutely love it! Two questions:
1. I tried to register my purchase on MDNW support site, but the ShapeShifter 2 is not listed. It would not accept my registration code.
2. Is it possible to add the “3 column portfolio” page template to a post?
Thank you
Heya CTB !
1. The new support site is over here : http://makedesign.ticksy.com – Long story, but this will end up being a lot better for users overall.
2. Not to a post (posts all pretty much use the same default template), but you can add it to a page
Cheers! B
I LOVE your theme, but I can’t find the answer to this question on the support/forums… (probably because i missed it.) Can you please tell me how to change the slider from “Sliding” to “Fading”
Thank You!!!
Hi Scott! I’m hoping to add this as an option in the next update – till then, find the /assets/javascripts/skeleton-key.js file, scroll down to the big block labeled “Flexslider”, and change it from scroll to “fade”
B
Thank you epicera. You’re the best
Hey man! Your support has been great so far, thanks.
Quick question. Is there a way to disable the whole image-hover thing site-wide? Since I’m using the theme as a blog rather than a photo-heavy site, I use the photos a bit differently, and disabling hover function would be great. If you want to check out what I mean, http://revelation.westwinds.org
Sure Mike!
Let’s start by adding this to your Theme Options > Styling Options > Custom CSS field:
.module-img span { background: url("none") none transparent !important; } .module-img img { background: none transparent !important; }Hmm, didn’t seem to work. All the images still come up with the ’+’ hover.
Let’s add this in now:
.module-img:hover img { opacity: 1; }I think that should do it
B
I have a lot of pages in my navigation. Static pages, that is (not sections on the 1-page layout).
But I just realized that the navigation won’t scroll at all, so some of the pages will be hidden as I add more. Is there a way to add scrolling to the navigation?
Heya Mike! This should happen automatically – post a link for me so I can check it out? It might be something that I need to pass over a little snippet to automatically tell it what height your nav is. Thanks! B
Well, to be fair it was only on one display, where the resolution wasn’t fantastic. Let me add a few more pages over the next couple days, and if I’m having trouble, I’ll let you know.
Thanks!
Sounds good Mike! B
Hey, I figured out what it is. Head to revelation.westwinds.org and resize your browser to cut off a few of the nav links. Then try to scroll. It will scroll the page content, but the nav won’t scroll. However, the second you start to resize the browser again, the nav snaps into scroll mode.
Do you get what I mean by that?
The more I test it, it seems as though it doesn’t detect the browser size on the first load. Only after you resize it a bit does it respond and become scrollable. I’ve had a couple people using the site mention this to me, so it’s noticeable to the average user.
Heya Mike! I’ll be glad to check this one out again – got a link that I can peek at? I’m admittedly relying on someone else’s plugin to do the heavy lifting here, but I can always make a note to adjust it or add a call for the height onLoad in one of the next updates. That said, this is the first report of this in quite a few sales, so it’ll hopefully be one of the last reported bugs on the theme
Cheers! B
Yep, check out http://revelation.westwinds.org
To see the problem: 1) Load the home page. 2) Size your browser to cut off a good chunk of the nav. 3) Reload the page. 4) Try scrolling.
My boss was looking at it on a Macbook air or whatever the hell those tiny ones are, and since his display is so small, the nav was off the screen to start, and he couldn’t scroll it.
Interesting – Hadn’t noticed this before but you’re right… for your case, since you don’t really need the scrolling thing, a quick solution might be to make that space scroll always with a snippet like this:
#section-sidebar{position: relative;}That said, it’s worth me taking a peek at why it’s not reading the height properly onload… so I’ll get back to ya on this – hopefully with an update! B
That snippet works great for me. As you said, I’m not really using the single-page layout.
Good luck with the proper fix, though! Thanks for all your help!
Absolutely
I’m more of a CSS expert than a jQuery expert, so that’s my go-to fix – but I’ll work on getting a script based solution as quickly as I can for anyone else who runs into this issue.
Thanks for the heads up Mike! B
I get this when I go to activate the them:
“Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_option_tree() in /home/content/m/a/r/maryshattuck/html/celebrationchristianchurch.com/wp-content/themes/shapeshifter-2/header.php on line 70”
Is that a problem with the theme or with my hosting?
Heya Mike – just make sure you install the OptionTree plugin that’s mentioned through the documentation and dashboard
B
Great theme as always Here are my issues
1. Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist.
This happens when I upload and image into the gallery or on one of the “Blurbs”.
2. The font on my navigation and in certain parts of the site are nothing like the font in the example that themeforest has. I know I have all of the fonts loaded on my end because I can see the example clearly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can view examples of what I am talking about here http://sdejohn.com/blog/
Heya Improv!
1. Make sure that you select the “File URL ” option when you are uploading your images and before you hit “Add to OptionTree” – the Attachment URL option will result in that error message usually.
2. I’m just using the basic Serif font-stack for the demo… make sure you select that one from the Typography Options panel
If you’d like a quick primer on how to set up the theme exactly as the demo is, we have a video on that over here : http://youtube.com/makedesignnotwar
Cheers! B
Hi,
This theme is looking exactly like what I need.
I have 2 questions: 1. Is it possible to make the slider full screen? The idea we want is to have the home page with slider taking up the full screen so the user gets the best visual experience. 2. Based on 1, we would then like the menu to be a floating menu. Is this possible?
Thanks Barry
Hi Barry!
1. Nope
It’s pretty strictly coded as it is so that it flexes to fit in the most possible layouts/devices… which usually means giving up a bit in terms of fullscreen features as that’d require it to break “outside” of the layout. You’re entirely welcome to add mods to change this up, but I can’t guarantee support and stability for them as I do with the rest of the core theme. I always put usability/stability before features, and this is just one example of keeping it narrowly defined to keep the theme working for everyone.
2. The menu is already sorta floating – but what you’d be asking is a simple z-index sort of thing where it floats over the slider which would be behind it… that’s more or less simple if you can work out the slider customization
B
Hi, I love this theme, but struggling with one small issue. I do not need the tophat (have disabled it), but the spacing that it takes up is still appearing at the top of the page. I am basically trying to move the images on the homepage slider higher up the page. I need to:
1) Remove not only the tophat, but the spacing it takes up. 2) Control padding between the homepage slider images and top of the page.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Heya P! Got a link that I can check out for you? I’d be glad to take a peek – thanks! And don’t be afraid to use our new support ticket system over at http://makedesign.ticksy.com
Cheers! Brandon
Brandon
Hi Brandon, thanks for the quick response, I will def use the ticket system next time. This site is a dev env on my PC, so no link for you to view. But its just general formatting of where the slider sits on the main page that I am interested in. If you take any shapeshifter2 template and disable the tophat, the 1inch or so of space that it resides in is still there. This is creating a little to much whitespace between the mainpage slider images and the top of the screen. I am also interested in controlling the padding between the slider and top of the page if this is possible.
Heya P!
Let’s try out this custom CSS snippet in your custom CSS panel to see if that adjusts it for ya
#section-greatestwrapperalive { margin-top: -35px; }Cheers! B
Awesome! Works like a charm… You guys def have good/quick support – keep up the great work.
Happy to be of service! B
Is it possible to move the menu to the top instead of left?
Hi Super! Nope – that’s not a theme option at this time as the layout is pretty much based upon that being on the left or the right
B
For the homepage blurb images, I wish to just display static images that have no overlay effects, no lightbox effects, and have no links. How do I disable the overlay and lightbox effects?
Heya Id! Try adding this to your Theme Options > Styling Options > Custom CSS field:
.module-img span { background: url("none") none transparent !important; } .module-img img { background: none transparent !important; } .thumbLink, .lightboxLink{display: none;}
