Since the Shepard slider shortcode doesn’t allow for a URL to be added to the images (http://www.vassp.org/), do you have a recommendation of a plugin that will work with this theme to allow me to do that? I tried the http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easing-slider/ but with this plugin active none of the sliders work (including the Easingslider)

I’m sorry, but we have no information about such plugins. We didn’t test our theme for compatibility with any plugin, except of Contact Form 7.
How about using an ordinary Slider instead?

My client didn’t like the large banner (regretfully after we had already agreed on this theme). Fortunately I just found a slider that works with the theme http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/smooth-slider/. On a side note my site is note the drop downs aren’t functioning correctly in IE9. I submitted a work ticket before Christmas and still no resolution (Ticket #2337)

Hi cmsmasters.

I bought the theme, installed it and configured the widgets using Google Chrome. However when I look at my website in internet explorer 8 & 9 the menu moves to the right-side and doesn’t look good. In Chrome I don’t experience this issue. So basically the Shepard theme doesn’t support IE8/IE9 in my case. Is there any way to resolve this?

Im having issues with my website hanging (getting stuck in a script by the looks of it) in IE8. Initial search suggests it might be CSS PIE.HTC. I am still running version 1.2.2 of the theme as version 1.3 seems to have problems displaying my contact form which uses Gravity Forms. Gravity Forms suggests this is caused by an out of date version of Javascript or JQery which has issue with conditional formatting.

You may use either our powerful Form Builder instead of Gravity Forms, or a Contact Form 7 plugin.

In response to the answer given to “granade” right above this comment: Is it possible to have the fullwidth css value by default for ALL of the images uploaded to posts? It seems really annoying having to add the css class manually every time I upload an image.

Oh, I’m afraid there’s no such option in this theme. However, it regards only content images, added in the post.
Slider, project and post features images and widget project or post images are responsive by default.

Here’s my short review of this theme:

It is good, mosly. 90 % is really good and really well made. However, as with most themes, some things aren’t as good as the theme as a whole, and some things are really awful. In particular, there are two things that I’m not satisfied with.

Firstly, the mobile (iPhone) portrait and landscape responsive layouts are more or less useless for any professional use. The scrolling top navigation bar is flimsy, and instead of rendering content to be more useful for a mobile device, each content element is just piled after each other one after another. If you have four 1/4 sized widgets in top bar, and four three 1/3 sized in the middle and bottom bar, you get a mobile website with endless scrolling and awful overview. Furthermore, the top slider (which on an iPad or desktop computer is phenomenal) is completely useless on an iPhone. I guess part of the blame is on myself for not testing the demo site on my iPhone more thoroughly before purchase.

Secondly, CMSMasters uses their forum in a really non-efficient way. Don’t expect answers to you questions anytime soon, and when an answer finally is given (after many days of silence), it is too often a generic “Create a ticket and we’ll give you personal support”. Sure, it is really appreciated to get personal help, but the answer to the post topic question is never shared on the forum, which means that their forum will never become a full fledged and user created knowledge center (since public questions too often get private answers and solutions).

As you know, all the template capabilities are available before purchase. We never cheat our customers.

Yep, some aspects of our technical support still need to be improved. We will do our best to reach the highest standards.
However, our forum is not an urgent way to solve your problem, usually it takes up to 48hours to answer your question there. It’s rather a knowledge base and same time a community for our clients, where they can share their solutions and get basic advices from our support team. Often we need the access to the web site before helping you out. To make sure we got you or for deeper consideration.

Hi. How can I update to be Compatible with WordPress 3.5? I updated and the midia upload stop work, even with all the plugins off. If I use the stantard theme, works… A JS error:

Actually the recent 1.3.2 version should be compatible. It’s available at Themeforest. Just download fresh theme archive.

You should make a backup of your theme before make any changes. Then upload all the fixed files, just as said in our README (Main theme folder > Fix 1.3.2 > README):
To update your theme simply copy “shepard” folder from Fix 1.3.2 to your server “wp-content/themes/” and replace existing files.

The settings should not be affected unless you have changed style.css (i.e. made some deep customization). In this case you may try to copy changed code to the updated style.css and then upload it to your server.

    Hello, I had a problem of invasion through a file located in the theme: wp-content/themes/shepard/theme/functions/upload-bg.php the user was able to upload a file using the functions located therein. Through this file somehow managed to perform write access on some server directories. Is there any update to the item in particular? I am awaiting a return. Thank you.

Then follow to the Fix_1.3.3 folder and open README.txt, you’ll find the instruction on update there. Basically you should replace some files at your server. But please, make a backup beforehand – just in case. If you have made some code changes in style.css, the update can harm your customization. You should copy changed code to the new file.

    Our client site got hacked using the upload-bg.php vulnerability too. It has reduced our trust in cmsmasters’ themes considerably. Looking into the exploit database, it appears that clockstone had a vulnerability too. I have visited several hacking forums that actually have threads devoted to cmsmasters. Please issue a statement to say what processes you now have in place to reduce the vulnerabilities in your current and future templates; without this, I see no reason for us to purchase from you again.

    Hi, thanks for your response and it’s good to hear you are trying to make your themes more secure. However, you haven’t stated what processes you have in place to avoid this in the future; “taking steps” doesn’t really inspire us with confidence. I also strongly suggest NOT installing the envato updater, as it then means your wp install has your API details in it, hence if it gets hacked, there is one more thing that is revealed to the hackers.

    Hello, really like your theme! Downloaded it last month and working on it with pleasure! few questions though: - should I use the fix_1.3.3 folder thats in the download folder of the theme. bit confusing in the online documentation cause it says ‘of you first use then just use the shepard.zip’ or so somewhere? - how can i move the preview part of a picture in a portfolio project? I have standing pictures and thats now leading to these bad looking previews; see what i mean here http://bit.ly/1389nBY - can i turn the latest works bar and the middle site bar around on front page? want the latest works bar (finally found the short codes for that) under the middle side bar if possible? - why does my video box on front page has no rounded edges?

    Dear Marion. If you have installed Shepard before the 1.3.3 update was released, you should replace the files at your server with ones we have in the fix_1.3.3 folder. It seem to be some code customization at your web site. If you have made any code changes in style.css, the update can harm your customization. You should copy changed code to the new file.
