Hi pixelenity, I’ve just purchased the Shutter WordPress theme and I want it exactly as the demo. I’m following your installations instructions in setting the files up correctly but I’m having trouble finding the “NextGen Tab” in the Theme Options menu.
Instruction: Set Shutter theme NextGEN Gallery options Go to Appearance>Theme Options in main menu Go to NextGen tab
Seems there is no NextGen tab in the menu?? All I see is the following: Sidebars Tags Content Background Slideshow Advanced
Could you please advise me on this. Thanks very much, Regards, Scott.
Hi Scott,
you need to install the nextgen gallery plugin first, after that the “NextGen” section will be available in the theme options panel.

>> EDIT : Your Answer solved the Problem, Thank you
Hello stempl
as per Scott answer, make sure the nextgen gallery plugin is installed, after that the “NextGen” section will be available in the theme options panel.
If you want us to take a look at your installation, please head to our our support forum open a new thread and use the “Contact us” link on forum footer to send us admin access to your installation.

Guys,
Great theme, struggling to work out how to add the galleries to the home page. I can see the demo ones there but how do i add my own galleries to this page. I know this is probably basic stuff but really struggling!

Hi Simon
We choosed nextgen as is one of the most simple (and downloaded) gallery plugin for wordpress, just install it, create as many galleries as you want and add them via the ngg gallery shortcode button.
here’s a nice video tutorial for you

Hi guys,
Totally understand how the gallery works, short codes etc. What i can’t seem to work out is how to get the gallery showing on the home page ie where you have the “all photos” “demo content” etc. Its currently flicking through blank pages as the images aren’t included which is fine but how do i get my images showing on this page.
I know its probably something really simple!
Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Simon
Hi,
The homepage gallery holds posts, it’s like a text blog’s list page, but seeing as thi is a photographers theme, it shows each post’s featured image in a gallery format. So if you would like to add a new image to this, you just need to create a new post, assign it a category, specify a featured image for it, publish, and you’re done. (there is a detailed “how to create a post”) section in the help docs, see that for more detailed instructions.
The nextGEN galleries are added to pages using shortcodes. These galleries have nothing to do with the homepage Gallery module, which is the core of the theme, while the nextGen is an optional plugin.
Hope this clears things up,
DOK
This is phenomenal. Quick question.
1. can I change the home page from photograph to blog post categories?
2. Can I remove it altogether?
Hi,
The homepage (Gallery) is in fact all posts. Each image is a post with the image being that post’s featured image. The associated post text content can be seen by clicking the “info” or “i” button under the logo, and if the post is long, then after that hit the “read more” arrow to be taken to a standard post page format.
The main homepage gallery can’t be removed because this is a photography theme and therefore it is the theme’s core.

Lovely theme. Is it compatible with WPML please (multilingual plugin). Thanks.
Lovely theme. Is it compatible with WPML please (multilingual plugin). Thanks.
Hi, thanks
no, we didn’t test with WPML
BF
Hi and thanks. One of the most frequent problems I found with some themes and WPML is that WPML needs to be able to build multiple menus (French/English, etc.). Do you think that is possible? I know I’m being insistent, but only because I love your theme!
this is a feature we may include in a future update because it requires extra effort but right now we didnt make any specific compatibility test so i cannot say if shutter/wpml combo would work out of the box or require some changes in theme.

Awesome theme guys

Hi Pixelidentity, Kudos on a unique wordpress design. Would like to purchase this. Have a few concerns 1. Can the homepage slider be selected portfolio works and not updated to the latest postings? 2. smaller thumbnails 3. can the information button take the viewers right to the actual post rather than to the summary? 4. Can the related posts/portfolio be on the side bar in visual format? 5. can recent postings be in visual format (as shown in the NextGen gallery widget)? thanks
hi
all those features would require theme customization in both code and styles.
BF
And is it possible to have sub categories in the menu?
Sub menu items are not supported.

Ahh fixed both of my problems by playing around with the options…I wanted my menu and galleries to open like you have it on your demo…I found the option “Gallery Opens in Fullscreen Mode” and clicked “No”.
This is a great theme but again, like so many other photography templates here in TF is not considering horizontal photos. All your previews are wide (landscapes) photos and pro photographers (like me) we don’t like when our website is cropping or not showing the entire composition of the photo.
Another thing with this templates is the pop window preview of the photos (timthumb?) the close button is on the right bottom and universally the close button is on the top right (facebook, and other social media sites). Probably this sounds dumb for you but most visitors to my portfolio get confused with the close button for the previews.
Besides that, great looking template
Hi Daniel,
We’re glad you like it. We do take into account vertical style photos. Its not demonstrated in our preview here but each image/post has a “fit” or “fill” option for the images. The demo is showing all “Fill” images, but “fit” will show the entire image (no cropping). There are image alignment options available also for both “fit” & “fill” situations. These options are on an image by image basis.
The popup is a customized version of prettyphoto. All prettyphoto skins have the close button in the bottom right. If a user is confused then they can simply click the dark page overlay in the background, this closes the lightbox also.
There is no timthumb used anywhere in this theme.

What a great job you guys did on this theme! I just bought it tonight for my wife’s boudoir business. She’s so excited about it! Major kudos for keeping it fast, and perfectly translated to iOS. My ORIGINAL iPad doesn’t have a problem with it in the slightest!
I did have a feature request, that others may find useful too… As of right now, since the homepage images are pulled from posts, the amount of interaction required to get to the blog post itself seems excessive. Is there a way you could add a “Blog” Page Template type, so we could create a “Blog” menu item that would list ALL blog POSTS .
From what I remember, this is the way a lot of programmers produce the “Blog” menu item. As of now
- from what I can tell -there is only one Page Type.. “Contact Form.”After I thought about it, you wouldn’t have to change anything about the way the home page lists it’s images, and people who have purchased, wouldn’t have to change their post/pages formats. But if there were just a “Blog” page type, it could aggregate all of the blog posts (maybe 5 at a time) into one list.. that looks just like the current single blog post design.
I hope this makes sense. I just spent 7 hours with the blog learning it.. and I still like it otherwise!
That’s a good sign.
Hi John,
Thanks for your feedback. We may add this capability in the future if the number of sales and buyer demand justifies it. It would be quit a bit of work, because the gallery is now the “blog list page” which is the core of the site, so the whole gallery module and theme would need to be restructured.
Apart from the Gallery, there are 3 page templates, “full-width” , “normal page with left sidebar” and “contact”.
Regards,
DOK
I got 29 images now…on the bar on the bottom when I click on the forward arrow to move to images 11-20 it brings up another button you have to press to move it to images 11-20…on your demo website this button does not appear…how do i fix it to where it doesn’t on my site either?
Thanks
Hi,
That’s to control how many thumbs are loaded at one time. Its useful if your gallery has hundred’s of posts/images.
To get rid of it, go to the “settings” item in the WP admin, then to “reading” and set “Blog pages show at most” to a high figure. This will be the number of thumbnails which will be loaded without needing to reload the page.

DOK
Thanks what you said fixed it! Awesome theme btw!
Hi,
I am totally new to Wordpress and have a very basic and simple question. I wanted to know if the photos shown on the main homepage only come from photos posted in blogs or do they include all photos including those in the galleries and in the blogs? I am not a heavy blogger and was looking for a suitable theme for my photography portfolio.
Thanks! Sarah
Hi Sarah,
They only come from the Blog. Each blog post has a featured image and this is the image which is shown in the Gallery. The post can have minimal content because really the image is the important part. This theme was designed for those who want to display large photos at the core of the site, rather then those of those who are heavy bloggers.

DOK
I bought your theme, and the installation process [import] running “Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagefilter () in / www / ............ / Wordpress / wp-content / themes / shutter / framework / php / PeTheme / PeThemeImage.php on line 14 ” The phrase pops up. I want to solve the problem. I need help.
Hi
it looks like your server php installation lacks GD support, please head to our our support forum, open a new thread and provide us admin access to your installation using “Contact us” link on forum footer

I’m thinking of purchasing this theme. One quick question…is the font used to create the logo included with the download?
Hey,
Nope the font is not included for the simple reason that we do not have rights to redistribute it, however you can find it as a free download here:

Hello,
Awesome job right here! Absolutely impressive!! I’m sincerely blown away by your creativity.
I want to buy this for a pet project of mine so I have 7 questions, please ask for my intent if any are unclear:Best,
Ancel Thelstan
Hi
1) Shutter doesn’t change how nextgen plugin works, it just restyles its elements so they integrate nicely in theme design. After you create a gallery, you can place it in post content by using the nextgen editor button. You’ll find tons of howtos and videos on the web on how to use ngg.
2) Yes, in fit mode the image is padded with black bars and you can define alignment (center/center, top/left, etc) on a per image basis.
3) That’s a shortcode, so you insert it manually
4) yes
5) that would be a customization which we cannot include in standard free support for the item
6) it will wrap, very long category names would use multiple lines
7) we use WP Super Cache in our template, caching won’t affect theme functionalities in any way.

Thanks. All the responses sit well with me except number 5, but I hope I can find my way around that. I just took the risk and purchased the file.
Great piece of work!
