Theme looks great! I installed it, but for some reason I thought I could put my Pages up on the top menu. How can I change the top menu items to something else? Thanks!

mikedidthis

Hey Frank!

Glad you like the theme! The pages are located in the footer area.

If you want to change the links at the top, edit Line 975 with the links you want.

Its a great idea though, and something I will add into the next update, so you can do it via the dashboard.

Thanks again

Mike

Mike,

Yes if I could add pages, and have them as links on the top (via Dashboard options) that would make the theme PERFECT !

It’s a great looking responsive theme, great job!

Awesome..thanks Mike!

Loving this theme. It’s stunning and so clean.

I have yet to venture into Tumblr, but want this look for my personal site (to show latest work and posts). Couple questions:

1) Can the menu be customized to removed things like “Random” and replace that with a static page for “About”?

2) Is there an HTML version in case I’d rather not go with Tumblr?

3) Is the Disqus thing an option (in case I don’t want comments)?

(Sorry if some of these are noob questions…just figured I’d ask all in the same source)

mikedidthis

Hey Pigsel,

The update is now ready for you to download! Enjoy the customisable header links! :)

Default-user

Awesome! I decided to wait till it came through on ThemeForest to pick it up.

Once last question, if you don’t mind (since I can’t find the answer elsewhere), is there a way in the theme or on Tumblr in general to make the homepage a static page and push the feed/blog to a subpage from the menu?

I’d like to use this as a personal page but would rather the feed content not be front and center if doable.

Thanks man! Keep up the good work too!

mikedidthis

Hey!

Urm I am not entirely sure that is possible with Tumblr.

I think you would need to use a static html page for the index / personal page, and then have a domain of xxx.com/blog point to your Tumblr URL .

Many thanks

Mike,

First, congrats with this great theme! I have one question: will it be possible (and easy) to edit the maximum width of the theme? I really like that it is responsive, but I would like to edit the max width for higher resolutions.

Thanks in advance!

mikedidthis

Hey!

Thank you! And yes, you can edit the max width, the media queries are pretty clear.

The max width is based on a words per line method, but feel free to increase it.

If you fire me a message, I am happy to guide you through it.

Many thanks

Thanks for you reply Mike! One last question before purchasing: Is it possible (or will it be possible in the future) the have a [read more] option in a post? Sometimes writing posts that are too long to show on the homepage.

mikedidthis

Hey,

Sure, its already included, as its a tumblr feature.

Add the following code into the text area window when your creating a post and it will add the read more link:

[[MORE]]

Let me know if you get stuck.

Thanks Mike! I bought the theme this morning, and it looks great!

However, I think I found some small bugs. I hope you will be able to fix this!

- When creating a ‘Photo’ post and adding a photo with a deeplink to for example www.google.com, the image is shown at a very low resolution (see: http://www.frontwerp.nl/tumblr/tumblr-theme.png). - When I click on this small image, a black overlay is shown, but I’m not redirected to www.google.com, the deeplink behind the image.

Another small visual point (don’t know if it can be fixed): - Images that are uploaded in a ‘Text’ post have a 500px width. Could this be 600px, so that they are filling the whole wrapper?

I hope to hear from you! If you need any more information, please let me know!

mikedidthis

Hey!

Sorry to hear your having issues. There is a second delay before Click Throughs kick in, due to the nature of the image replacement script, but it seems they aren’t firing at all. Leave it with me and I will see why and post an update.

As for images in a Text post, sadly not. Tumblr restricts images to 500px, and I didn’t want to stretch the image to the container, as it seems bad practice from previous experience.

Thanks for you quick reply Mike! I will wait for an update. About the images (in a photo or text post), you might want to take a look at this theme: http://atlanticnoir.stylehatch.co/

As far as I can see these images are hosted on Tumblr (except the first one), and have a _1280 tag. Wouldn’t this be the best solution for the Simon theme?

Sidenote: I love the theme and I’m defenitely not negative, but would love to help to make it even better.

mikedidthis

Hi.

Thanks for the advice, but sadly this isn’t possible for Text posts. I can currently get replacement image URLs correctly for photos / photoset.

The first post on the URL you sent me is a Text post, and the image is one that is self hosted by the creator, not on Tumblr.

No offence taken at all and thank you for trying to improve the theme, but I am 99% certain on the above.

Again, thank you for the kind works, I will check out the clickthrough issue as soon as possible.

Many thanks

Mike

mikedidthis

Hey Frank,

Can you email me via my profile? I have a fix, and wouldn’t mind you confirming it works before I make it an official update.

Hey Mike,

Got the theme and started digging into it. Love it so far, but I’m wondering if there is a way to showcase the images to be wider than the posts? What I mean is, I like the width of the posts as they are, but would love to see any images run almost double the width. (see http://blog.vanschneider.com for what I mean).

mikedidthis

Hey Pigsel,

I actually toyed with this during development, but removed it as I thought it wouldn’t be used.

Maybe I was wrong. What post type would you imagine seeing this on? Photo?

I will work on adding this option for the next update. It will be something class based.

Many Thanks

I’d certainly use it for a text post with image insert. Still not sure of all the correct Tumblr classifications, but it’d be a nice option (maybe for both a single photo insert or blog insert)?

Also, where in the code can I manipulate the dimension allowance for the logo? The 160×60 is a little small and would like to get a bit bigger if do-able.

Thanks for the great response times!

Hi Mike,

Great theme, but it doesn’t seem to be supporting my link posts? The link goes to my permalink instead of the clickthrough URL I specified.

Any ideas?

mikedidthis

Hi Peter,

Ahh I see what you mean. I apologise, I made a mistake.

To quickly fix this if you change Line 1119 to the following:
<a href="{URL}" title="{Name}" class="title"><h2>{Name}</h2></a>
That should enable the click through URL . I will add this fix to the next update.

As for ‘tags strap’ do you want to remove tags altogether, including the dotted top / bottom border?

Many Thanks

Mike

Default-user

Great thanks Mike I’ll give that a go.

Yeah to effectively hide that tags bar including the dotted lines whether the post has tags or not. Would be great if it was a customisable option, or even just to know which code to remove.

thanks again, Peter

mikedidthis

Hey Peter,

Thats fine, I can add it as an option on the next update.

For the time being, I think the following Custom CSS should achieve what you need. Just add it to the Custom CSS box on the customisation screen.

.post footer {
display:none;
}
.post {
margin-bottom:4.5em;
}

Let me know if you get stuck.

Many Thanks

Hey Mike,

Been really digging into the theme and loving not only how simple it is, but also it’s organization. So easy to follow, even for a newbie like me. Two things I have left I can’t seem to figure out:

1) Can the post image be widened to go past the width of the text? For instance, if the main content is 600px (which I think it might be on a default web view), then could the images uploaded into a post (text or photo) be 800-900px?

2) If that is possible, then the follow-up would be: can the post title and post date be moved to sit under the post image?

Thanks!

mikedidthis

Hey,

Glad you like the theme. I really worked hard on making it as clean as possible.

1) I believe this has already been requested and should be in next version. This will only be available in a Photo post, as I don’t control image sizes in a Text post.

2) Photo posts don’t have a title, but you could use Tumblrs built in text editor to create one. Just wrap what ever text you want as a title in a H1 tag.

Many Thanks

Hey Mike,

Freaking ADORE the theme :) Tremendous work on making such a simple, clean site. I am running into just a couple “things” though, which are probably just my idiocy rather than anything else, but was wondering if you could help :P

1) Is there a way to have clicking images just go to the post rather than launching the modal? and…

2) For some reason, whenever a place an image into a text post, when viewing in different browser sizes it scales with the wrapper horizontally, but not vertically (read: the image squishes) — Is there a way to fix that? You can see what I mean here. Try making the browser window smaller—> http://19cbklyn.com/post/18835982068/vscofilm

Anyways, thanks and keep up the awesome work!!!!

Kory

mikedidthis

Hey Kory!

Thank you for the kind words. I got say you killed it with the customisation.

1) This seems to be something I can’t get right. Some users want the modal window, some want to go to the permalink. I personally think it should be permalink, then modal window on the permalink page, but its preference I suppose.

If you replace the following code between Line 1065 – 1067 the image will link to the permalink page, and then the modal should be available:
{block:IndexPage}
<a href="{Permalink}" title="{PhotoAlt}" class="bigger-pic" rel="{PostID}" data-click-through="{LinkURL}" data-replaced="">
    <img src="{PhotoURL-250}" data-250="{PhotoURL-250}" data-400="{PhotoURL-400}" data-500="{PhotoURL-500}" data-1280="{block:HighRes}{PhotoURL-HighRes}{/block:HighRes}" data-replaced="" />
</a>
{/block:IndexPage}
{block:Permalink}
<a href="{PhotoURL-250}" title="{PhotoAlt}" class="bigger-pic view" rel="{PostID}" data-click-through="{LinkURL}" data-replaced="">
    <img src="{PhotoURL-250}" data-250="{PhotoURL-250}" data-400="{PhotoURL-400}" data-500="{PhotoURL-500}" data-1280="{block:HighRes}{PhotoURL-HighRes}{/block:HighRes}" data-replaced="" />
</a>
{/block:Permalink}
2) Yep, it seems a height has been set for the images :( easiest way around this is to add the following to your Custom CSS box.
.text img {
height:auto;
}
That will override any heights set by tumblr’s RTE and stop the squish.

Let me know how you get on, again great work. Oh and don’t forget to rate it :)

Hi Mike,

I have another question about link post types.

The link post title styling is the same as a regular post title, is it possible to slightly alter the way that link post titles appear? For example, adding a small paperclip or arrow graphic to the left like on the tumblr theme on my existing site: http://www.peterpetrovski.com/

I just want to be able to differentiate these link posts from regular posts, so it’s clear they link off-site.

cheers, Peter

Sure, leave it with me, I will work something into the next update.

Many Thanks
