Common WordPress Installation Issues

Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to display only one part of the post on the blog and when I click on the “Read More” link to view the full post?

When creating/editing your post you have to click on the “Insert More tag” button just before the text that you need to be hidden. The button is located above the text area.

Is the “xxx” file format supported by the lightbox preview?

The lightbox plugin that I use in this theme is not created by me, it is called PrettyPhoto and here is a link to the documentation of this plugin. You can find the supported file formats and read some more information about it.

How do I change the order of menu items in the main header navigation?

You have to set the “Order” to each of your pages- This is field provided by WordPress. You can set values 1,2,...

How can I get rid of the message “Post category ID has not been specified” on the home page without having any posts there?

This message is output because this page template is expecting posts to be there and maybe you don’t need posts there. However you can open the homePage.php, find this message in the code (line 88) and delete the whole line.

The footer is floating at the top of the page, what is causing this?

This theme requires widgets to have titles set. So you just have to insert titles to your widgets, or if you don’t want any titles, you can insert ” ” (blank space) in the title field.

Some characters are not displayed, what is causing this?

In this theme I have used the Cufon font replacement for the h1,h2,h3 tags. Maybe the font used does not support those characters and you have to disable the font replacement and use the default font in order to show the characters.

If you want to turn it off you have to open script.js file and delete the lines:

Cufon.replace('h1');
Cufon.replace('h2');
Cufon.replace('h3');

I’m having a problem with the readmore link, when I insert a read more break in an article there’s no button at the break, to click to continue reading? I have to click the title of the post to show it.

This is not a bug, but it is how the theme is designed and this is only for the “Home page” template. The “Read More” link is for the blog page. However, if you still need this link you have to open the homePage.php file and just after the line (line 74 in my version):

<?php the_content(’’); ?>

You have to add this code:

 <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" class="moreLink">
      <?php echo(get_option("si_read_more"));
    ?>
      </a>
