This theme is amazing. End of story.
It’s so easy to set up, adding work to the portfolio is a piece of cake and quick to do, and with a decent knowledge of code is extremely customizable. The mobile version is also gorgeous. I think an addition of an area for custom CSS , as opposed to editing the actual code, would be nice, but other than that I have zero complaints. I am in love with this theme!
One quick question: I modified the theme a tad (mostly just added some red and custom type) and I was wondering if I’d be able to use what I ended up with, design-wise, as a basis for business cards? I’d like them to match my website but want to know if I can use some of your design concepts from the theme in the design of my business cards. The theme design was pretty much what I was working on anyway, and I don’t see a need to reinvent the wheel

Hi, Not by default. If you wanted to have that implemented you’d have to code that up yourself or find someone who can!

Hi, the theme is beautiful and I am interesting in purchasing but I have some questions. 1) Does the font support Japanese characters (I live in Japan)? 2) When I visit the sample page on my iPhone I cannot see the ‘Our latest work’ or the ‘latest from the blog’ sections at all (not only that, but no content is displayed in the sections and you can’t swipe out of the blank area). Can this be fixed?
Hi, To be honest, I’m not sure if Japanese characters will be supported. The theme is localized and ready for translation with .mo/.po files though.
I’m not sure what you’re seeing on the iPhone. I’ve just checked and it’s displaying fine on my iPhone 4s!

Mike, thanks for your reply. Theme is displaying perfectly on my iPhone today as well.
It is not a translation issue I am worried about. Rather, it is whether the font has Japanese characters in its character set. With my existing theme I type anything using Japanese characters and I just get a blank.
Just posted a test message on the theme page reading ?????????????????????(Hello, This is a message from Tokyo.) Assuming the comments use the same font as the rest of the blog, if they display all is good.

Hi Matt, By default you can only use images. I don’t think it would be too hard to integrate into either theme though. I’m fairly certain I saw a buyer with the same modification. I could probably help you make that happen in the support forum!

Great looking theme. As with Sergey, I’m also wondering how easy it is to change the font? In other themes, I’ve seen features in the admin/control panel to easily change the fonts for various components. Is there something like this in Slate?
Hi, There is no font management in this theme, unfortunately. You’ll have to know just a little code if you want to do that.

Hi, You could do that! You may have to make a few small adjustments, but generally you should be fine doing that.

Hi Mike, let me say your template is great. It is working perfect for us. I do have a few questions:
- I need to make my blog available in english and spanish, is there a way where I could have both?
- The galleries are great, I need to auto scroll however, like every 5 seconds or so, where can I edit that?
- In my browser IE and I’ve notice not only in my CPU but in others that there is a blank space the homepage between “what they’re saying” and the footer. I’ve notice doesnt happen on the mac. Is that something you know of?
- Also in the Porfolio Page the main banner, is there a way to put there a custom banner without a link to it? I mean I dont want it to take me to a post.

Hello! I am considering buying your theme but first I have a question – I am looking for a theme that will allow me to customize it so that the homepage has 5 portfolio thumbnails instead of the slider. I am not sure, yet, if I will place the 5 thumbnails all in the same row or if I will have 3 in the first row and 2 in the second row, centered on the page. Would this be possible with your theme? (If I were to buy it, would you help me figure out how to change the code to make that happen?)

Hi, You will be responsible for making those changes to the theme. I can provide help if the theme is broken, but not for modifications like that. It’s best to have a developer on hand to help with those things.

This theme works well, but I have to say the columns are annoying to work with in full width templates. Why do three 1/2 columns fit side by side? That makes no sense. Same with the six 1/4 columns that span a page. Having to edit the CSS of a paid theme for things like this is frustrating, but not enough to make me ditch the theme.
Hi pjurkovic, The columns are named as if they are using the default page template, which has a sidebar. So technically, two would fit on the page, making them 1/2 columns. Same with the 1/4 column. On the default page with a sidebar, it would fit 4 of them, making them 1/4 columns.
I could see how that might be confusing, considering I ended up using the full-width template on that page.
But why are you having to edit the CSS though? The naming of those elements shouldn’t affect their functionality.

I found that percentages made the column shortcodes function as they were labelled. It’s not such a big deal for me, but trying to explain to a client why 3 halves equal a whole is more trouble than simple altering the CSS to use percentages instead of pixels. It’s more intuitive for everyone and adapts to the page. Otherwise I like the theme.
You are absolutely right. The columns will likely get a much needed overhaul in the next update. Really appreciate your feedback.

Hi, This isn’t something the theme does by default, so if you want to do that, you’d have to know how!

How easy would it be to use the fonts you use in the Rewrite theme in this theme?
The font I mainly used was Helvetica Neue. So you’d have to go through the stylesheet and replace all instances of the old font with that one. Not too hard if you know what you’re doing.
