ChrisMooney, the previous people having problems with BuddyPress sidebar are most likely having the same problem as I did with buddypress-sidebar.php (where it said == instead of !=).
On a side note, I’d like to get next/previous links for the flex slider. I cannot do this without editing the core theme files.
Can you do one of the following on the next release so I can override this setting?
1) get_template_part(“framework/components/hpslider/hpslider”) instead of include()
2) use !function_exists( “st_hpslider” ) to see if the child theme has already defined this function
Thank you.
Hey there,
Thanks for letting me know about the sidebar issue, it’s been fixed ready for the next version.
1) This wouldn’t be the correct way, see http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/17/how-to-load-files-within-wordpress-themes under “Using require() and include()”
2) I’ve updated this, thanks for pointing this out, fixed ready for next update.
Thanks
1) Thanks for the information. I find it weird that include() will still be the best way to load it for child theme compatibility.
2) Great, much appreciated.
I’m looking to buy. But I can not resolve an issue with the comments of BuddyPress. Comments do not reload dynamically and need to refresh the page to see the answers online. It happens in your theme?
Hey there,
I just checked on my theme and the comments are posted via AJAX. I believe this is a standard BuddyPress feature. It may not work on older browsers or those with JS turned off though.
Thanks
Hi, is there any plan to include some shortcodes for a image galery or other litlle nice gimmicks?
No plans to add any more shortcodes. You can already add galleries to posts by using WordPress’ built in gallery shortcode.
Thanks
Does each visitor that signs up to the website have there own frontend dashboard or do they create posts via wp admin?
Thanks in advance
Hey there,
Users are given their own profile section where they can edit their details etc.
Checkout more about BuddyPress’ features here: http://buddypress.org/
Thanks
Chris, another suggestion/request for the next release.
I’d like the <li> elements around forums to have a css class/id that can be styled specifically for that forum.
Looks like the epicwebs_bbp_list_forums() method is being used to output this code in functions-bbpress.php.
The $sub_forum->ID variable is available for this and would be easy to attach to the element on line # 424.
Thanks!
Hey there,
I’m working more on the update today so will get this implemented for you.
Thanks
Thanks!
Hi Chris,
My site is back up at http://buddha.fm. On an iphone, how do I get rid of the right margin for the scroll bar. In my case, it is the red margin to the right of the white site container. I would like the white site container to extend 100% the width of the iphone ( Btw, I do not have the same issue on the ipad).
Also, is there shortcode for a contact form?
The latest version (1.0.2) fixed this issue. Re-download the theme and update.
The contact form is using this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/grunion-contact-form/
Thanks
I would like to move my forum – completely – from vbulletin to wordpress/buddypress including users, threads, posts, etc.
1 – Has anyone else done this with the theme, can you show me examples? 2 – Will it be a hard process and what sort of assistance can you provide?
Look forward to your answers and maybe buying your theme soon
Hey there,
1. I don’t know of anyone (ThemeForest doesn’t share customers details with us)
2. I’m not available for freelance work. Standard support is available for setting up and using the theme and there is documentation provided.
Thanks
Chris,
Another bug I’ve encountered.
On BuddyPress Group creation process the #page-header element should be the first child under the #site-container element but it’s nested under the .padder element.
This may only be visible with the BuddyPress sidebar on.
What happens is the dark header element only stretches the width of the main page content and the sidebar top is up where the header is suppose to be.
How to reproduce this behavior: 1) activate BuddyPress sidebar and add a widget to it. 2) Try to create a BuddyPress group.
Thanks for the detailed bug report, it’s much appreciated. Feel free to email these directly to me in the future
Thanks
What is a good contact email?

Thanks, will do.
Regarding Akent’s question: Does each visitor that signs up to the website have there own frontend dashboard or do they create posts via wp admin?
In one live example of this theme, the visitor must log in through the WP backend which appears as a bar above the theme. Chris, do you plan to add a frontend login to the theme?
Hey there,
BuddyPress provides front-end profile editing functionality (uploading avatar, editing profile fields etc). There’s no way to create posts in the front-end (not a BuddyPress or Social Buddy feature).
I’ve got a front-end login panel in mind for the next version along with the ability to remove the “Admin/Buddy Bar” and replace with more flexible (responsive) controls. BuddyPress v1.7 will be released soon, so I want to wait to see how the latest changes affect the templates as that area has been changed significantly.
Thanks
The page-header is missing from the forum page of BuddyPress Groups that gets added by bbPress.
http://domain.com/groups/<group-slug>/forum/Can this be added in the next version?
Thanks for reporting this, it will be fixed for the next version.
Have a great weekend
Thanks, you too!
Hi There, I’m looking to purchase your theme however could you tell me if its possible to add woo commerce and google ad words type widgets into the the side bars..
Thank you
Hey there,
The theme isn’t woo commerce “compatible” but the plugin should work with it, just not styled identically.
Using a plugin you could add Google Ad widgets. It’s not a default feature of the theme.
Thanks
Hi Chris,
Its been a while, any ETA to adding that second sidebar?
Really really would love that!
Thanks Shaun
Hey there,
It’s possible in a future update, but not right now.
Thanks
I have updated to 1.0.2 and its changed the appearance of my whole site?
Hey there,
You’ll need to provide more details. Email me via my profile with your WP admin details and a description of your issue and I’ll take a look for you.
Thanks
Hi Chris, do you know when the frontend posting, user dashboard update is likely to be? If already included, could you provide any screenshots/details?
Hey there,
I would recommend you install BuddyPress on a fresh WordPress install and play around with it’s default features so you get an idea of what the BuddyPress plugin provides.
For a user demo, use the account “guest-account” with the password “socialbuddy” on the demo site.
Thanks
Hi Chris, great work on this theme.
Does this theme come with a template PSD?
Thanks.
Hey there,
It doesn’t, sorry about that.
Thanks
Hi
The cropping tool when adding an avatar to the user profile seems a bit buggy. Can you help us with this?
Thanks
Hey there,
Which version are you on? If you’re using v1.0.0 this bug was fixed in an update. Re-download the theme from ThemeForest and upgrade.
Let me know if you have any issues.
Thanks
Good Day,
I’m noticing two things with the update. The forum header does not extend all the way over to the right of the screen. It seems to be cut off example:http://ugoishow.com/forums/ But more major is when I log in to test users and update my status I get a mini version of the homepage immediately under my new status and its doing this for all test accounts but not administrator. You can try ugoishow.com and try test user. user:ugo22 and password thisguy
Hey there,
Thanks for letting me know about the forum header issue, I’ve fixed this (update will be released soon).
With regards to your other issue I can’t replicate it on my dev setup. Does it persist when you detractive your plugins (except BuddyPress)?
Thanks
Good Day Chris,
Yeah I’m starting to believe it’s a plugin issue and will try to deactivate to see which one….but the strange thing it only happens to member accounts and not admin…will keep you posted.
It’s a really odd issue, deactivating plugins sequentially and trying to duplicate the problem would be the best way forward to pin point the culprit.
Best of luck
Update Chris,
It wasn’t a plugin or theme issue but I paced this code into the php theme funtion that threw the theme off once I updated a status. I was trying to prevent dashboard access for members while while keeping the buddypress admin bar at the top. If you have ideas prevent member access while keeping the bar please shoot it my way. Thx!
On another note..how do I get the search bar like in your demo for mobile devices? for navigating the site.
Hey there,
You need to setup your menus using the WordPress menu manager in WP Admin > Appearance > Menus.
Let me know if you have any issues.
Thanks
