Another thing… I also treied to use the jquery to see if the featured thing is the issue, and it doesnt shows any posts, I do have a thumb for the featured and to no avail help again :( thanks

IndustrialThemes

First let’s get the jquery version up and running, and then we’ll try to get the flash slider working. Are you sure you have tagged posts “featured” so that they show up in the jquery slider as explained in the documentation?

Hi I could send you an image or even give you access to the site if you like, but yes, it says exactly “featured”, I even deleted the other categories, so I have the standard and the featured category http://www.aurorapersson.com/featured.jpg

I deleted the template and upgraded the version again… still same problem :(

IndustrialThemes

Are you using tags or categories for featured?

graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh the thing is that my installation is in spanish, and the tags area is ON TOP of the categories, so all the time i was makin it wrong #$ x%x /

ok now its correct, the jquery works, the flaash also :D :D :D

now a quickie one. how to put text on the flash to make it spin sideways? where do I put that info? in the image, the thumb, where? thanks works great ;)

EDIT : the documentation mentions the flash will autocrop, but I have a vertical image longer than 350… it goes out of the slider, can it be fixd? or should I crop it myself tahnks

EDIT 2 : like the text had to refresh itself… dunno maybe had to delete cache now it works, the only thing is the resize of the image… thanks again

IndustrialThemes

Glad you got it working! To answer your question, yes you will need to crop the image yourself. Let me know if you need any more help.

Thanks, Brian

Is there anyway to get ahold of the piecemaker.fla file that was used to create piecemaker.swf? I need to make a change to the “loading” slide and you have made changes to the original piecemaker file to make it work with this theme.

Thanks!

IndustrialThemes

I don’t actually believe I’ve modified or even opened the source .fla file. Are you sure you are using the correctly modified .swf file?

Hi Brian,

Excellent theme! Nice work.

I’m having trouble simply getting the social networks (specifically Facebook) links/icons to show up in the footer. I don’t see it as an option in the bottom panel (only Twitter & Flickr)... Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Christopher

IndustrialThemes

I’m not sure I understand what your question is. What exactly are you trying to get to show up (when you say “Facebook”, what do you mean – what should be showing up)? Is it the bottom panels or the footer that you want them to show up?

Sorry I wasn’t clear and I’ve sort of figured it out.

I was just trying to replicate what you had in the ‘more’ panel for social links – only in the footer, next to the Quick Contact Form.

I’m assume this is done via a Widget containing html?

IndustrialThemes

Gotcha. Actually you’d have to hard-code that. The only widget in the footer is the quick contact form. So, if you drag a widget into the Right Footer widget panel, it will replace the quick contact form. The left half of the footer is just hard-coded. Does that help you out?

Hello Brian,

Great theme!

Is there a way to have the “more” panel open by default when you load the page?

Thanks in advance

IndustrialThemes

Try opening up the style.css file and locating line #161 and change that style block from:

#morepanel .content-wrapper { display:none; }

to

#morepanel .content-wrapper { display:block; }

and see if that does the trick.

Hi Brian,

I just purchased socket due to its versatility and love the layouts. I am having a difficult time trying to get the flash plugin slider to work. I read the directions and did place a “featured” tag on the post, along with “files” in front of the location of the picture and even tried with “files” not included in front of the location of the picture. The picture is located at: http://www.nbtchurch.org/images/006.jpg and at http://www.nbtchurch.org/files/slider_trial.jpg I have even created a folder called “files” to place the images in to see if that would work as well. I am working out of wordpress 3.03

I also attempted to place the picture in All I get in response is “loading first image”. The site is www.nbtchurch.org/wp302 . What am I doing wrong?

IndustrialThemes

responded via email :)

Hi again I have a question how can I put a 3 column page like you have in the preview? I think I moved a lot of the settings and dont know how to put that specific 3 column part in the home page thanks

IndustrialThemes

From the Socket FAQ :

How do I get my content into more than one column for templates that have a multiple column layout (templates A – H), like the front page of the demo?

Edit the page and in the visual editor you need to use the Heading 2 (h2) tag to start each column, which will split the content into a new column. So, for 2-column templates you will need to use two Heading 2 tags, and for 3-column templates you will need to use three of them. In code view, for the 3-column layout it would look something like this:

Header Text

...content here…

Header Text

...content here…

Hi Brian,

Which templates are associated with the blog and contact pages. I’m wanting to make some layout adjustments.

Thanks!

IndustrialThemes

Blog is index.php and contact I believe is template-S if memory serves me. The templates are explained in the help file so if I’m wrong look there and it’ll tell you.

Thanks Brian.

Last question, I swear!!

I’m using template D for my homepage. And I’d like the lower three panels to contain graphic images. But the Left Lower Panel seems to always show ‘recent blog posts’, even though I have the graphics in the widgets and the other two panels display fine.

Any suggestions? You can see what’s going on at:

http://urbanfarmer.ecologicdesign.org

Cheers!

IndustrialThemes

Make sure that in the Socket options page you set the bottom left panel to display a widget instead of latest blog posts. If you need help finding that setting, let me know. I don’t have the page in front of me so I can’t remember exactly which tab it’s under.

Hello Brian

awesome template you created.

A few months back you uploaded a socket-sql.sql file for beginners (like myself) to make it possible for editing.

That was a great idea and I was hoping to use it for my benefit. that problem is that I couldn’t understand your instructions to get it to work. this is what you said;

“Try this out: socket-sql.zip. That is the export of the Socket live demo site. Just import it into your Wordpress installation and it should be setup just like our demo. The admin credentials are username: admin, password: outerspice POSTED 8 MONTHS AGO ” (last post on page 2)

I tried dumping my database files and importing yours… the process works, but the site doesn’t, it redirects me to your website.

any suggestion helps.

thank you

IndustrialThemes

I realized after posting that comment that it has my URL hard-coded into the sql. There are two ways to go about fixing it. 1) you can change two fields in the wp-options table inside your wordpress database. 2) you can paste two lines of code in your wp-config.php file. I can instruct you exactly how to do either one. Which would you rather do?

Hello Brian, thanks for your prompt response.

either or seems like a great solution to me, but since I’m still getting a grasp of SQL , I would like to stay away from my database for now and just update the .php file. so if you please instruct me. It would be much appreciate it.

Thanks again

Please excuse the first paragraph of my reply.

IndustrialThemes

Here’s the link that explains how to do it. Just follow the first example “Edit wp-config.php”. It’s very straightforward. The only drawback is from now on you won’t be able to use your Wordpress settings page if you ever want to change your blog address (you’ll have to do it in the wp-config.php page).

Great thanks!

if the other step is just as straightforward, would you mind explaining it as well? or supply a link?... I’m wondering because if there’s no drawback from it, I would reconsider using it.

thanks for your assistance,

cheers

IndustrialThemes

It’s pretty straightforward as long as you follow the steps. Check out this link (you need option 2): http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#If_you_forget_to_change_the_locations

Hello,

I’m quite interested in that theme but before buying it I want to know if it can be easily translated to another langage?

Thanks for your answer,

Valentine

IndustrialThemes

I actually don’t provide any specific language files, but I can tell you that I have had lots of customers from other countries and other languages purchase, install, and translate the theme. I am not sure exactly what all is involved in doing so, but I know it’s possible, and apparently not too difficult.

I’m sorry I can’t answer your question more accurately. I just don’t have lots of experience with translations and other languages.

  • Has been a member for 3-4 years

OK, thanks…

I say it because it seems to be images, for example on “Latest Blog Posts”... And I can’t buy it if I have to translate images!

So you cannot change that? Or you have to create new images???

IndustrialThemes

The layered PNG files are included for all image-texts so you can change them to whatever you want them to be without recreating the images.

  • Has been a member for 3-4 years

So you mean I’ll have to change all writen image?

For example, I’ll have to rewrite this image :

data:image/png;base64,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

It seems very very VERY fastidious.

This image “link” being the “Latest” image/word of the “Latest blog posts” of the front page of your demo…

In most themes, you can just translate these kind of things in the .php files… Your theme doesn’t allow that kind of translation? Or a poedit translation?

IndustrialThemes

You are correct. A lot of themes have language files included. Socket does not have language files included. So, you’d have to manually translate it yourself in the code. I realize this is probably a deal breaker for you, unfortunately, and I’m sorry about that. I hope you find a theme that will work out for you!

Thanks, Brian

  • Has been a member for 3-4 years

Hi Brian,

If you say I can translate it in the code, it’s not a deal breaker at all: I find your theme really nice! But what do you mean by code? .php? Something else?

Thanks, Valentine

IndustrialThemes

Yes, the files are .php files. The code is well-commented, indented, and spaced well, so it’s easy to find your way around.
