Hi Gerda, a friend’s website has a small Tumblr-powered ”+ Follow” button permanently situated at the top of his site and a larger “Never miss a post!” + Follow button that pops up if you scroll down. Is there something like that in Soundboard, whereby someone can submit an email address, SMS text number or Facebook or other IM handle in order to receive an automatic update every time I add a new post to my site? If not, is there a third party application that can be added to do the same? And if so, how? Thanks!

red_sun

Hey there! Soundboard does not include something like this. You would have to find a plugin for this. On the page http://wordpress.org/plugins/ you can search almost 30.000 plugins.

Once you found the plugin that you want to use, check out this site to find out how to install a plugin: http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins

Cheers!

Danke dir schon mal!

red_sun

Hallo!

Here you go:

1)
#bg-wrapper,
#slide-bg {
    margin-top: 0;
}

#topnavi { width: 980px; }
2)
body { font-size: 14px; }
.sf-menu a { font-size: 14px; }
3)
#footer,
#social,
#copyright {
     background-color: #000000;
}

4) Solange Du keine Änderungen in den theme Dateien vornimmst sondern alle CSS Änderungen in Theme Options > General > Custom CSS einfügst, kannst Du das alte theme einfach löschen und dann das neue installieren. Dabei gehen keine Daten oder Einstellungen verloren.

Ok…so I purchased the theme but am a little disappointed to find out that on the home page, only the NEWS can be in the centre column.

I really wanted to be able to put a small slideshow using a plugin in the middle column and then have the news feed start below that.

I’m regretting buying this now…is there something that can be done??

Here is the test site so far: http://www.truckboxtreestands.com/

red_sun

Actually you can still put other content than the news in the center column. Simply put the content (tabs, slider shortcode…) into the editor of the page that is using the home template and it will display above the news.

As for the gallery: image cropping seems to not be working in your WordPress installation. I had a couple other customers a while ago with with the same issue. The problem was, that the server didn’t have the “GD library” istalled, which is important for image cropping.

You can find info about GD library on your server in the PHP info file. Here is more information: http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/What_is_a_phpinfo%28%29_file?

In the PHP info file, please check if the latest version of PHP and GD Library installed, also if JPG and PGN support is enabled.

Hope this helps.

Ok so I have been trying to fix the gallery issue with my hosting company and this is what they are saying:

“The issue that you are experiencing is due to the use of theme “soundboard”. It gives following error at the error log “20131207T174013: www.truckboxtreestands.com/wp-content/themes/soundboard/css/css_options_panel.php PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_action() in /hermes/bosoraweb121/b518/glo.codiep/truckboxtreestands.com/wp-content/themes/soundboard/css/css_options_panel.php on line 347” . Therefore, I would request you to either update the theme or verify the script with the help of web developer for the theme.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console. “

Can you please help with this? Again, here is the link to the photos: http://www.truckboxtreestands.com/media/photos/

Thanks.

Hey there…

image cropping is a native WordPress function and I don’t think that any code or error in theme files can break it.

I just installad a thumnail rebuild plugin on your site called “AJAX thumbnail rebuild” and after running it, the images display properly now.

Your WordPress installation should create those image sizes in that moment that you upload an image. Not sure why it doesn’t.

If you upload new images now and they don’t get cropped properly, you can now run that plugin again by going to Tools > Rebuild Thumbnails.

Cheers

Hi! I am just struggling problems with adding photos to albums. All photos are in different dimensions, most of them vertical (higher than wide). The result is that in the album overview all heads and feet are cut off. Is it possible not to resize them to that square size and keep them in original aspect ratio? Changing the proportional option in media-settings doesn’t affect anything. Thx! ;)

red_sun

Hey union-web! This would only be possible by making some changes to the theme files.

I have the Number of Headlines set to 4 but once I post another headline the posts already on the front page disappear how would I be able to add a “next Page” type system so that people can look at older headlines.

Thanks.

red_sun

I’m sorry but the homepage can not be paginated.

Hello!

Just wondering if it’s possible to replace the dashed line dividers with a custom image so that, for example, each blog post is automatically divided by my image rather than dashed line? :)

Also, weirdly, there is no twitter widget showing up on the soundboard theme I just installed for a friend…

red_sun

Hey there….

1. You can create the border code here: http://border-image.com. Use the code on the CSS selector .blog-bottomborder. Example: Put the following code into Theme Options > General > Custom CSS:

.blog-bottomborder {
border-style: solid; border-width: 0px 0px 14px;
-moz-border-image: url(http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/border.png) 27 29 34 27 repeat;
-webkit-border-image: url(http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/border.png) 27 29 34 27 repeat;
-o-border-image: url(http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/border.png) 27 29 34 27 repeat;
border-image: url(http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/border.png) 27 29 34 27 fill repeat;
}

2.Twitter made some major changes to it’s API. The new API (1.1) only works with authentication of each user. This is why the Soundboard twitter widget stopped working and I removed it in Soundboard version 3.06.

Please use a plugin instead. Fore example:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/kebo-twitter-feed/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/really-simple-twitter-feed-widget/

Hey I have a problem on my site that just started happening recently and I don’t really know why. Basically, when I view my site on mobile devices, everything is extremely zoomed in and cannot be scaled down when I pinch my fingers on the screen. You can’t zoom out. See for yourself: http://drew32.com. I’m not sure what I did but if you can direct me to help fix this problem that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default-user

No, I really haven’t. I don’t understand what could be causing this problem. Do you have any suggestions?

red_sun

I just looked at your site and the site now displays normal again on my phone. Did you fix the problem?

Default-user

Haha yup I just figured it out earlier today. You were right, for some reason one of my plugins was doing it. The thing is, it was a plugin that I’ve had for a long time… so somehow it just recently started acting up. Who knows lol. Thanks though.

I just wanted to add to some of previous praise for this theme and this developer yet MORE praise! I have been using the theme for a couple months now, love it, but possibly even more importantly LOVE the developer. I’ve have never found a theme developer even close to as responsive as this one. Honestly, I think her support far exceeds whatever the customary scope of support is for a theme developer.

I like to make the occasional “donation” to Gerda (the developer) after she helps me with whatever issue I’m having (it’s the right thing to do, especially if my request is of a “customizations” nature), but she loves coding, she loves her theme, and she loves problem solving so much I think she’s happy to help in any case, paid or not.

I never lavish this sort of praise on people, but I really have been just completely blown away by Gerda. If the look and functionality of this theme suits your purposes do not hesitate to pick it up, because it’s the best supported theme in this whole marketplace (IMO).

Thanks again, Gerda. You rock. :-)

red_sun

Thank you very much for you kind words, Mark :)

Hi there – just updating my site’s background image and header logo.

What do you suggest are the best jpg SIZES for these? As the info tab on the theme options doesn’t specify art work size?

Cheers

red_sun

Hey there!

On the Soundboard demo page I’m using an image with the following dimensions: 2800px x 1750px. In order to decrease the file size I recommend using Photoshop’s “Save for web and devices”. That way the image will load faster but not loose much of the quality.

You can upload a logo with any height and a max-width of 940px (=full width). The Soundboard logo on my demo site has a size of 440px x 50px.

Cheers!

Hi there, Really love the theme you designed. I am curious how to embed the JW Player into a page instead of the default pop up (lightbox?) player. I’ve looked through the JW support forums and don’t really see any advice that applies to this theme, i.e. pasting code into the page. I have no issue editing locally and uploading modified versions but figured i’d check here first. Also does this theme support Mixcloud? (not to be confused with soundcloud) Thanks a bunch!

Default-user

Oh my, think I found the answer to my question in theme options. derp.

red_sun

Great, you found it yourself! Glad you like the theme, onivato :)

Hi I hope this question hasn’t already been answered. I’m having a problem with the contact form on GoDaddy. Its weird cause it will send emails just fine to addresses not on GoDaddy but not send them to addresses on GoDaddy. I’ve checked to make sure its not getting blocked(SPAM). I’ve also contacted support and of course they said its the way it was programmed. Anyways I’m just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with this?

red_sun

Hey PureVision! Actually I myself had the exact same problem when I customized the theme for a client, any email address besides GoDaddy’s worked. I am just using the most basic PHP contact form, nothing special. And I also tried using the “contact form 7” plugin instead to create a contact form but that one didn’t work either. Why would anybody code a contact form that works for any email address than GoDaddy’s – their support is really no help at all. Oh my, I’ve seen GoDaddy cause so many problems… It’s honestly the last host I would ever pick.

I’m very sorry I can’t give you a solution to this.

Default-user

Thank you for the quick response! Its unfortunate that its the clients choice that we are going with GoDaddy because I’m in the same boat as you on it being my last pick. I forgot to mention that it does work when on another host. Its like they are blocking any emails coming from the same domain. Anyways I’m gonna try to dig into this more and will let you know if I figure anything out.

red_sun

Thanks, I am actually very interested if there is any solution to this.

table tr:hover td {
        background: #292929;
        }

Hello.

I’m having trouble with the JWPlayer. I’ve followed all the instructions that I can find with no luck. This is what’s happening:

The shortcode works great. But on the albums page, the audio will not play with either ver 5 or 6.

What’s going on?

You can see it here: http://campeonesdeldesierto.com/audio/los-15-grandes-de-nuevo-mexico-2013/

Thanks!

red_sun

Sorry for the delay!! Just replied to your email.

Default-user

Thanks! Because of your help, I was able to figure out that mp3s must have to be encoded at 320bps. All is working now. Thanks again!

red_sun

Great!

Hi Gerda, In Tour Dates Page and in News & Tour Dates widgets, the titles are displayed with the “permalink to (the title)” atribute. I removed them manually from the template-tourdates.php and widget-tourdates.php. My question: Is any other way, insted to modify the script and to altered the php templates? I have in mind that, in the future updates there be lost.

red_sun

You can either create a child theme http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes (make sure to use SB version 3.06) to make your changes, or you could at least make the title look like it’s not a link (remove hover color and make the curson not change to the hand) by putting the following code into Theme Options > General > Custom CSS:

.news-widget-title > a {
    cursor: default;
}

.news-widget-title > a:hover {
    color:#fff;
}

Thank you very much for the answer. I have another problem… I put, in a post, a tab with 3 sections. If I put only text it works just fine, all 3 sections ( tabs). When I add an NGG Gallery on the first tab, it also works fine.( first tab with an NGG, the others with text ). But here it comes the problem… When I add the second NGG Gallery in the second tab, and the third NGG Gallery in the third tab, it’s all messed up, nothing works… Can you help me?

red_sun

Hey there.. if you want me to take a look, please send me link and login info via the user contact form on my profile page.

Thank you for such an awesome theme! I can’t figure out how to decrease the gap between widgets on the footer. They are spaced pretty far apart and it looks weird. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance for your time. Shelby

red_sun

Hey shelbycheyka.. glad to hear you like the theme!

The 4 footer widget areas right now have a width of 220px each. You would have to add the following code into Theme Options > General > Custom CSS and adjust the width value.

#footer-widget-area .widget-area.grid_3 {
    width: 220px;
}

Hi, Love the look of this theme but are there any plans to make it responsive?

Thanks.

red_sun

I’m sorry jasontitley, I don’t have any immediate plans to make Soundboard responsive.

I usually do my customisations in a child theme so they don’t get overwritten when there’s an update, but I’m having trouble creating one for Soundboard. I’ve created a child theme and all I’ve got in it is a style.css which calls the parent style.css.

When I try to activate it, I get the following message:

Warning: require_once(.../public_html/wp-content/themes/soundboardchild/includes/metaboxes/meta-box.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /.../public_html/wp-content/themes/soundboard/functions.php on line 201

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ’/.../public_html/wp-content/themes/soundboardchild/includes/metaboxes/meta-box.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /.../public_html/wp-content/themes/soundboard/functions.php on line 201

I asked for advice on Wordpress.org and they said some themes just aren’t suitable for child themes. I’m not sure that’s right, it’s OK if it is, but can you let me know so I know how to proceed?

red_sun

Hey there! What version of Soundboard are you using? Soundboard is child theme ready since version 3.06.

Cheers!

haloo.

whether in these themes can create a sub menu? because there are no examples of a sub menu here

thx

red_sun

Hey amindn! When you hover over “Theme Features”, you can see a sub menu.

Cheers!

Hi, I have a problem! Works through time loading background in the subject line! Picture in the library, shown in the Style section in the subject, but does not appear on the site! web: http://ostrovgrez.info admin: http://ostrovgrez.info/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/adminn.png

Default-user

I use a translator if it is not clear what I wrote, I’ll try again) ?

red_sun

Hey Postovski! Please remove the background color in the Theme Options Panel as it is overriding the background image. Also, I see you added some css code (background color on the body tag) to the file dark.css. Please remove that one as well and the image should appear.

If you need any more help with this, please send me link and login info via the user contact form on my profile page.

Cheers!
