Hi! I love this theme so much! I have a question and it doesn’t really involve your theme but I’m hoping you might have an idea on how to do this.

I created a user so my client can edit his website but I made him an editor because I don’t want him to see the Theme functions. When I created the Editor User, it hides the Soundboard Theme but it also hides the WooCommerce store and my client can’t manage his store.

How can I make it so that he see’s the Woocommerce Admin Panel BUT doesn’t see the Soundboard Theme Options?

Do you know how?

Thanks! I’ll be buying this again and again!!

red_sun

Hi there! I just tested the user role “shop manager” and that seems to be exactly what you want. It lets you manage the shop and the Theme Options Panel is hidden…

Hi, red_sun! I don’t know how to change the order of dates on the tour page. I’d like to display it in the order of “month”, “day”, “weekday”, “year”. Please tell me how to change this.

Thank you!

red_sun

Hey there! You woud have to make these changes directly in the theme files: file template-tourdates.php, line 95:

<div class="tour-weekday"><?php echo $pretty_date_D; ?> -  </div>
<div class="tour-month"><?php echo $pretty_date_M; ?></div>
<div class="tour-day"><?php echo $pretty_date_d; ?>, </div>
<div class="tour-year"><?php echo $pretty_date_yy; ?></div>

Move the 4 lines around as you wish, you can also change comma and dash right before </div if you want.

Do the sam thing in line 262 for past tour dates.

Cheers!

Sorry, let me ask you one more question. My band members are changed every gig. So if it’s possible, I want to add any text box or spaces under the each tour date on the tour page in order to display my band member’s name. Or maybe should I add text gadget in the right side of this page? Do you have any idea for this??

Thank you!

red_sun

You can add another custom field in the file includes/metaboxes/custom-meta-boxes, within the TOURDATES section.

 array(
         'name' => __('Band Members','gxg_textdomain'),
         'desc' => '',
         'id' => $prefix . 'members',
         'type' => 'text',
         'std' => '',
),

And then call the field value in the file template-tourdates.php.

set variable:

$members = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'gxg_members', true);

call variable:

<td class="tour-item tour-members"> <?php echo $members; ?> </td>

Hey Gerda, I’ve exhausted all the “additional icon” links on the social settings page but still have more links/icons I’d like to display at the bottom of my site. Can I A: Add more generic icon slots to the social settings slot (6, 7 etc)? or B: Replace any of the pre-set icons (I don’t use beatport or Twitter) with something of my own choosing? Thanks!

red_sun

Hey there…

Here are the instructions:

At the bottom of the file footer.php, right above </ul> add
<li> <a href="http://www.fullURL.com" target="_blank" class="social6" > </a> </li>

<li> <a href="http://www.fullURL.com" target="_blank" class="social7" > </a> </li>

<li> <a href="http://www.fullURL.com" target="_blank" class="social8" > </a> </li>

Replace “http://www.fullURL.com” with the full URL to the social profile.

In Theme Options > General > Custom CSS, add:

a.social6,
a.social7,
a.social8 {
        display: block;
        height: 32px;
        outline: none;
        opacity: 0.4;
        -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=40)";
        filter: alpha(opacity=40);
        -moz-opacity: 0.4;
        -khtml-opacity: 0.4;
        }

a:hover.social6,
a:hover.social7,
a:hover.social8 {
        opacity: 1;
        -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100)";
        filter: alpha(opacity=100);
        -moz-opacity: 1;
        -khtml-opacity: 1;
        }

a.social6{
        width: 100px;
        background:url('fullURLtoimage.png') no-repeat;
        }

a.social7{
        width: 70px;
        background:url('fullURLtoimage.png') no-repeat;
        }

a.social8{
        width: 80px;
        background:url('fullURLtoimage.png') no-repeat;
        }

Upload the icon image to your server (for example within your WordPress installation in Media > Add New) and replace ‘fullURLtoimage.png’ with the full URL to the image and change the width value to the images’s width.

Hi I recent just purchase this theme great item by the way but I have one problem my setup with Facebook I have Jetpack and Facebook plugin install. The problem I having is when I post to the news page which is tied with the bands Facebook page, 2 things happens..

PROBLEMS.. 1. When I post on the site etc. but when it points to the Facebook page I get this “Page not found Van-Halen.net ” on my Facebook page. it should hit with image but all I get is THE SIITE logo image not the image that I posted in the News post… the other problem I get on the reply post for users I get Facebook post is unreachable , until I make a post there than it feed back to the Facebook page with another news post which is the same as the first but has my message which I posted in the reply on that page .. Does this make sense.. Hope you understand what I mean . thanks hope you can help me with this

Hey chotito! This question was just asked by liamgowing (2 comments above yours). Please find the instructions in my reply to him.

Ok, done! Thank you!

Opening “Buy Tickets” in new window.

I’ve seen the following solution:

<form method=”POST” action=”<?php echo $url; ?>”>

with

<form method=”POST” action=”<?php echo $url; ?>” target=”_blank”>

But those lines of code do not exist in the Tour Dates Template. The closest thing I can find is this line of code:

<?php if ($button_text) { echo $button_text; } else { _e(‘Buy Tickets’, ‘gxg_textdomain’); } ?>

red_sun

Well the button for past dates should actually not appear at all for past dates. Did you make changes to the past dates code so that the button still displays?

Default-user

I don’t know if I did. If I did, I didn’t mean to. Either way, can you tell me how to make it say “Website.”

red_sun

In the file template-tourdates.php, look for the tour-URL code in the past dates section (should start around line 260) and change it to the following code:

<td class="tour-item tour-url">
<?php if ($url) { ?>
<a href="<?php echo $url; ?>" class="button2 tour-button"><?php _e('Website', 'gxg_textdomain'); ?></a>
<?php } ?>
</td>

Hi red_sun! I love the theme! I was wondering if there is way to add a facebook share button so it embeds on someones timeline. I see the facebook like button. I have tried a plugin but it doesn’t put the button with the rest of them.

red_sun

Hi clickonlite.. great to hear you enjoy working with the theme :)

The theme files actually include a facebook button for each news post below the twitter button that lets you share a post. See here: http://www.themes.red-sun-design.com/soundboard/sample-page/

Is that what you meant? If you are still developping locally that facebook button may not appear though.

Default-user
A “like” ends up in recent activity. A “share” gets embedded into your wall. Here’s a good quick article explaining. http://www.maketecheasier.com/differences-facebook-share-and-like/ I was looking to add a facebook share button.I think I found it here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/share-button Im not sure what to populate the fields with under Sharing Settings > Add a New Service. Is this possible to add a facebook sharing button through the “add a new service” option. Thanks for your reply, and again, awesome theme.
red_sun
Oh right… Try creating the share button via the link you mentioned and once you’ve added it to the theme files, replace the URL with the following code:
<?php echo urlencode(get_permalink($post->ID)); ?>

Hi there, I recently purchased this theme and am starting development for my client (the theme is great, and I’m looking forward to it!) I’m sure I’ll have questions over the next few weeks, but first off, I applied a google font in the Typography settings, but it only changed the headings. That’s fine, as my client would like to use a different font for the body. We have ‘Noto Serif’ in the headings and would like to use ‘Noto Sans’ in the body. Is there any easy fix for that?

thanks!

Default-user

Thanks! Is that line for the header.php in replace of this code:

<link href=’http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Ruda:900' rel=’stylesheet’ type=’text/css’>

or just underneath it?

thanks again!

red_sun

...underneith it…

Looks great, thanks!

Hey there… Thanks for purchasing Soundboard, I’m glad you like it!

Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with this plugin. I don’t think that this is a theme specific problem, but to make sure, you can switch to the default WordPress theme to see if the problem persists.

Hi! I would like to know if it’s possible in the tour date section to sort the past tour date from newer to older instead of older to newer.

Thank you

red_sun

Simply log into ThemeForest and go to the “Downloads” tab. Here you will find all the files you’ve purchased. If you re-download the theme, you will automatically get the newest version. Then deactivate and delete the old theme version from your WordPress installation and upload the new one.

If you update the theme, none of your content or settings in the Theme Options Panel would get lost.

Thank you! I really love the theme

red_sun

I’m glad to hear that :)

Hi again, Thanks for your earlier help! 2 questions: 1) Is it possible on the navigation menu to have the text change from black to white when a cursor is hovering over a menu item? We’re using a dark red color and the black text is hard to read. Here’s the site so you can see: http://www.sandboxsite.cappellaromana.org

2) The google font we chose for the headings (Noto Serif) seems to create a double strike instead of a true bold so that when you zoom in the letter is split, is this a theme thing or a google font thing?

thanks in advance!!

Default-user

Beautiful, thanks!!

Hi, thanks again for the nav menu help! I did notice that once I click on a menu item that has drop downs (for example About Us), and then am on that page, the drop down items continue to be white although the background is white. Any chance we can get them to display properly? Thanks again for your help, I’m loving the theme, it’s great to work with!

red_sun

I’m glad to hear you enjoy working with the theme :)

Add the following code to Theme Options > General > Custom CSS:

.sf-menu li.current-menu-item .sub-menu a {
    color: #222222 !important;
}

.sf-menu li.current-menu-item .sub-menu a:hover {
    color: #ffffff !important;
}

Hi there, Absolutely LOVE the theme. I just had one question – would there be any possible way to 1) Remove the white border around the slider, OR, 2) Change the border color? As seen here:

http://www.ijazzglobal.com/michaelmanson/

Thank you very much!!

Nick

red_sun

Hey Nick! I’m glad to hear you enjoy working with the theme :)

In order to remove the slider boarder, add the following code into Theme Options > General > Custom CSS:

#slide-bg {
    background: transparent;
}

Cheers!

Hey baltahuartado.. thanks for purchasing Soundboard!

Can you please send me link and login info to your site via the user contact form on my profile page so that I can take a closer look at this problem?

Cheers!

Hi, I have an issue with contact form. Unfortunatelly the mails are not coming to the set mail. What could be the issue and how to check it?

red_sun

Hey suchymar!

If your contact page seems to work on the front-end but doesn’t deliver mail (also check your junk mail folder!!), be sure that your server supports the sendmail protocol (ask your server admin if this is set up). If you can’t activate it, I would recommend to get a plugin for your contact page (I can recommend the “contact form 7” plugin for example)

Some hosts (like GoDaddy) have restrictions on which kind of email addresses can be used in contact forms. So that is also one thing that you should check.

Cheers!

Hi, 1. The theme is extremely slow. How can I make the performance better? 2. I would like to update the theme, but I have a lot of customizations done directly in files (language changes), how can I do this correctly to not make the customizations from the scratch?

red_sun

1. WEll first of all, make sure your images are not too big. You can reduce file size by using Photoshop’s “Save for Web and Devices”. That way images will not lose quality but load much faster. Also, if you google “speed up WordPress” you will find tons of useful blog posts and information!

2. It is never a good idea to make customizations in the theme files directly. Especially there is no need to make language changes in the theme files. The theme files include a .po file that you can use to quickly translate the theme. Here is a great blog post on how to do that: http://www.appthemes.com/blog/how-to-translate-a-wordpress-theme/ Anyways, here is another great blog post that explains how to upgrade a theme, even if it’s customized: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-upgrade-a-wordpress-theme-even-if-its-customized/

One other question for you fine folks:

Is there a way to adjust the opacity of the dark background that goes up against the main background image, as seen here? http://www.ijazzglobal.com/michaelmanson/

We would like it to be a bit more transparent.

Thank you so much!

Nick

red_sun

Hey Nick!

The content are is using a transparent background image (for cross-browser reasons – as IE8 does not support transparent background color). You can find and replace that image in the theme subfolder “images”, it is called 22297.png (color #222 and 97% opacity).

I just got this theme, and so far it’s pretty fantastic. It has made building this site so easy, and I can hardly wait to show my client. Thanks so much.

red_sun

Hey differently… thanks for the nice feedback! I’m glad you enjoy working with Soundboard :)

Hi again, Is there a way to dictate which post categories feed into the homepage center section so that not every single post ends up there?

thanks!

red_sun

... only by making a little modification to the theme files:

In the file template-home.php, line 42, replace

$query->query('posts_per_page=' . $post_number);

with

$query->query('posts_per_page=' . $post_number . '&cat=77');

Replace 77 with the category ID of the category that you want to display on the homepage. http://www.wprecipes.com/how-to-find-wordpress-category-id
