When clicking in a menu scrolling with arrow keys do not works. To get it working you must click in an empty space.

Any thoughts?

Hello diegosueiro,

Thank you for reporting this behavior to me! You are correct, in order to use the keyboard arrow keys to scroll the page, the scrolling area needs to get focus first. Perhaps this can be automated quite easily by adding a script to do it.

Just copy and past the following code to the “Custom JS” field in the Theme Options page:

(function ($) {
    $(document).on('ready load', function () {
        $('#main').attr("tabindex",-1).focus();
    });

    $('body > header').on('mouseup touchend', function () {
        $('#main').attr("tabindex",-1).focus();
    });
})(jQuery);

And that’s it, you should now be able to use the keyboard’s arrow keys to scroll the page at any time!

I hope that helped, please let me know if that works for you and if you need any further assistance, I’ll be happy to hear from you :) Deepest regards, Jonathan

JoNa

Hi again diegosueiro,

Just as a side note, you might want to also add the following rule into the “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page:

#main:focus {
    outline: 0;
}

This will remove the border added by some browser to focused elements. Cheers! :) Jonathan

How can I translate the contact form fields, button and messages? And I’m not receiving the messages from form.

Default-user

Any thoughts?

JoNa

Dear diegosueiro,

Thank you for contacting me, and please accept my apologies for the delay in my reply.

To translate the language on the contact form, simply duplicate the two following files:

/wp-content/themes/spark/locales/EN_en.po
/wp-content/themes/spark/locales/EN_en.mo

Rename your copies to match your language: the first two letters indicate the country, and the last two letters indicate the language. So for FRANCE_french you will have “FR_fr.mo” and “FR_fr.po”.

Then simply use the “PoEdit” tool (Download here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/poedit/ ) to edit those files and translate each desired string into your language.

In the PoEdit tool you can hit Ctrl+F to look for a particular string to translate (for example “Message sent” etc.).

In order for WordPress to use your custom .po and .mo files you need to specify your language in the “wp-config.php” file by setting the following constant:

define('WPLANG', 'FR_fr');

Regarding your second question, did you make sure to enter your own email address in the Theme Options page under the “Contact Form” tab? Let me know!

I hope that you will find this information helpful. If I may be of further assistance, please feel free to to contact me again.

Kindest regards, Jonathan :)

Default-user

Thanks for the help. But there are some strings in which are not available for translation. For example: “Sending” “Please fill out his field.” “Please enter an email address.”

JoNa

Hello diegosueiro,

Thanks for your reply! These strings (i.e. “Please fill out his field.”, “Please enter an email address.“) are actually generated by the web browser, so it’s not directly related to the Spark theme. The HTML code only indicates the fields that require an email for example, and the browser shows a notification accordingly. I guess the messages would be in another language if the browser is set to another language.

There are actually 2 strings that cannot be translated: “Sending” and “Try Again”, that’s the only 2, and I’m really sorry that I forgot to make them translatable! I will make sure to fix that for the next update! If you would like to translate them now without waiting for the update, then you will have to edit the following file /wp-content/themes/spark/js/spark-main.js on line 209 and line 220.

I hope that helps! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you require further assistance with this, I’ll be more than happy to help! Best regards, Jonathan :)

Hey Jona, I’m having the same problem as another buyer above – I can’t make buttons open up pages in a new tab/ window

I’ve tried your example

Link[/button]

It doesn’t work. I have also tried adding the reqular code when you want to open in a new tab (target= “_blank”) – That didnt work either -

Did you find a solution for this?

Also Did you happen to find a solution for anchoring the footer to the bottom of all the pages/ posts (after the content) ??- I know we chat about this before – So I’m just checking, as it was a while ago i brought it up.

Cheers, D

what class should i use for featured buttons?

JoNa

Dear deano_,

Thank you for your messages! Please accept my apologies for the delay in my reply. Having the possibility to make a [button] open in a new tab/window is something that I missed and I’m really sorry about that! The good news is that I’ve just implemented it now and it will be added in the next update of the theme to be released soon.

Luckily you don’t have to wait for the update to be available and can use a workaround. The [button] shortcode is only a helper that actually creates a regular link with the “button” class added to it. You could just build your link manually using the WordPress editor (just switch to the “Text” mode) and pass the following:

<a href="http://example.com/example" class="button featured" target="_blank">Check Out The Features</a>

And you’ll get the exact same result as the simplified [button] shortcode, plus you can now set the target="_blank" attribute as desired.

Nevertheless I will release an update of the theme that adds the possibility to do the same using the [button] shortcode too.

Thanks again for reporting this to me and for your patience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me again if I can be of any further assistance, I’ll be pleased to help! Warmest regards, Jonathan

Hi Jona,

I submitted ticket ZHD-L5Z-6UYE a month ago and still have not received a response. I tried to access the git repository but was informed I couldn’t as you were at the limit of number of users.

Here are my questions:

1. I don’t want to use a logo. But in Chrome, the spot where the logo is supposed to appear is showing up as a broken icon. Suggestions?

2. I want to put different background images on different pages. Something like this:

refer to site:luciano-infanti.deviantart.com/art/Igarape-Redesign-376542830

Is there any easy way to do that to do that in this theme? Or do I need to do it in the css?

Thanks,

Jennifer

JoNa

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you for contacting me, and please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in my reply. I’ve just replied to your ticket.

In order to hide the logo, the simplest way is via CSS. To do that, simply copy/past the following into the “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page:

.logo {
    display: none;
}

Regarding your second question, yes it is absolutely possible to set a different background image or color for each section of the landing-page. Again using CSS is the way to go. For a working example, copy/past the following code into your “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page:

/* Define custom background images for each section */
.section-home {
  background: url('http://i.imgur.com/1vU12fm.jpg');
}

.section-features {
  background: url('http://i.imgur.com/3WcT2d2.jpg');
}

.section-prices {
  background: url('http://i.imgur.com/1vU12fm.jpg');
}

.section-contact {
  background: url('http://i.imgur.com/3WcT2d2.jpg');
}

If you have changed the IDs of your landing-page sections then adjust the names in the above code accordingly. Also replace the URL to the images with the URL to your own custom images.

You can also make the images to always use 100% of the browser’s width. To do that, and in addition to the above code, add the following rule that will set the size for the background images:

/* Set background size for all sections */
.landing-page-section {
  -webkit-background-size: cover;
  -moz-background-size: cover;
  -o-background-size: cover;
  background-size: cover;
}

Unlike the previous rules, you don’t need to change anything in the above block of code.

I hope that you will find this information helpful. If I may be of further assistance, please feel free to to contact me again, I will be more than happy to assist you!

Kindest regards, Jonathan :)

Hi Jonathan,

Great theme! A couple of presale questions that I might ask…

1- Is your theme capatible with http://wpmegamenu.com/? I will be needing a flyout menu item containing a widgetized contact form. 2- Is it possible to have a full-width section? I am wanting to have a section that will contain a responsive, animated iframe that will need to be full-width in the browser.

If yes to both these questions, I’m in!

Thanks,

John

Hello again,

A follow up question – would your answers to my two questions apply to your hybrid theme as well?

Thanks!

Hi kaan52,

Thank you for contacting me. Yes it’s absolutely possible to put a video instead of the slider. The slider is inserted using the following shortcode: [welcome-block] Just remove this shortcode from your Home page, and insert a shortcode instead!

Here is an example: src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/wkBexlVnW6I” frameborder=”0”></iframe>

Alternatively, you could even put a video within the slider, for that see this answer: http://themeforest.net/item/spark-responsive-retina-onepage-wordpress-theme/2372522/comments?page=10#comment_2513448

Thanks for your answer JoNa, it worked. But I had some trouble at first. There always was a problem with the video: This Video does not exist. I figured out, that the url in the tag “SRC” had to be like this:

So this means also your example does not work =) Keep up the awesome work.

Oops it seems like the Envato Comments system corrupted the shortcode that I posted – sorry about that! You are indeed fully correct and the format is

Documentation for this shortcode can also be found in the Theme Options page under the “Shortcodes” tab.

Thanks again for reporting back, and I’m glad that you found out the issue. Please don’t hesitate to contact me again if needed, I’ll be pleased to hear from you :) Deepest regards, Jonathan

Dear ervinf,

Thank you for your messages and sorry for the delay! I have just replied to your ticket:

What do you mean that all your customization are gone? Are you referring to the content/settings/images, or did you actually edit the core theme files?

If this is the first case, make sure that the name of the theme directory is the same as previously, otherwise WordPress will consider it as a different theme and will not use your custom settings for this theme. I hope that makes sense. You can find the procedure to update the theme in this FAQ: http://themeforest.net/item/spark-responsive-retina-onepage-wordpress-theme/2372522/faqs/9828

I know it’s confusing, but the theme should have been updated before updating WordPress. Anyway I can see that your site is back online and I apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please let me know if you still need assistance with this, I’ll be more than happy to hear from you.

Again please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need any further help, I’ll be pleased to assist you! :) Deepest regards, Jonathan

I love the <select> menu option for mobile. However, is there a way to have the default selection be “Menu”, and not the last link in the main navigation?

For example, if I have five menu items: Item1, Item2, Item 3, Item4, Item5. When I load the page on mobile, the drop down select menu defaults to displaying “Item5” as the text. I want it to display “Menu”.

Thanks.

Default-user

As a followup, for some reason, in the “mobiles-only-menu”, all my list items have a ’ selected=”selected” ’ tag on every list item. i looked at a different website using this theme, and that site’s menu is working correctly. Furthermore, your live demo is suffering from that same bug in which it’s displaying the last menu item instead of “Menu”.

Does that make sense?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello MrVictorCortez,

Thank you so much for reporting this bug! I can confirm that there is an issue marking all items as selected, which results on the last item to be always selected in the Mobile Menu dropdown. I am looking at it right now to investigate and fix this issue ASAP and I will release an update of the theme within a couple of days!

Thank you again for reporting this to me and allowing me to fix it, and I apologize for any inconvenience. Keep posted for the update! Deepest regards, Jonathan :)

Hi! Is it possible to change header? For example, I want to add phone number (just text) to the right of the menu.

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hey alexqxela,

Thanks for your question! Yes this is possible but will require you to use custom CSS rules to add or style your content.

Here is an example to add a phone number on the right of the top menu:
#menu-landing-page-menu:after {
  content: '1-800-121-212';
  display: block;
  float: right;
  font-size: 14px;
  font-weight: bold;
  margin-top: 30px;
  margin-left: 15px;
}

Just copy/past the above into the “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page. You can replace the example phone number with any text you want.

If you would like to make it clickable, why not add an entry in the menu, and then style it with CSS? To do that you must switch the menu to Manual mode (see the Theme Options page under the “Menu” tab) – Please watch this video tutorial to set up a custom menu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7SFpyzYlZw

Then once you have your custom menu set up, add an entry at the end of the menu that will represent the extra content that you would like to have, and then use custom CSS to make it look different than the other menu items. Here is an example:

#menu-item-192 a {
  font-size: 16px;
  margin-top: 16px;
  border-top: none;
}

Make sure to replace the ”#menu-item-192” with the specific ID of the menu item you would like to customize. You can check it by right-clicking on the menu item itself and then click on “Inspect element” in Chrome or Firefox.

I hope that you will find the above information helpful! Please don’t hesitate to contact me again if you need any further assistance with this, I’ll be more than happy to help :) Deepest regards, Jonathan

Hi, I sent a ticket for this also. Downloaded your theme and after editing a few pages, all of a sudden anything added after the first 2 pages, are on top of the first 2 pages. I have 4 pages in total, and pages 3 & 4 are ontop of pages 1 & 2… Is anyone else having this issue? Seems like an issue with the theme.. I have reset the theme 3 times and it keeps happening.

Hello alexqxela,

Thanks for your comment. It seems like your web server is missing the SimpleXML extension, which is weird because this PHP extension is enabled by default according to the PHP website: http://www.php.net/manual/en/simplexml.installation.php

This extension is enabled by default.

I suggest you to contact your web hosting provider and ask them why the default SimpleXML extension is missing. If you are running a private server and have access to the php.ini configuration file then take a look at this page to enable it: http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?191658-RESOLVED-Fatal-error-Call-to-undefined-function-simplexml_load_file()

Hi. I’m using default slider on the main page [welcome-block]. When the page loading first image shown with very bad quality…after some second quality improves. How can I fix this? I want to load image in perfect quality. I can wait one more second, but I need to show images at perfect quality.

JoNa

Hello alexqxela,

Thank you for your message! You can read more about this here: http://www.maddim.com/demos/spark-wp/responsive-retina-images/

Also note that this is the same technique used by the new version of Google Images, but if you would like to actually disable it then it’s definitely possible. Please edit the following file: /wp-content/themes/spark/core/spark-framework/helpers.php and add the following code on line 304:

$params_low = $params_x1;

That should load the high quality version directly, without intermediate image. I will add an option in the backend to disable it more easily in the next update of the theme to be released soon.

I hope that you will find the above information helpful, and please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can be of any further assistance, I’ll be pleased to hear from you ;) Kind regards, Jonathan

  1. Go to your Downloads page on ThemeForest
