Last big ticket item… for now lol. How do I edit the text to the left of the slider images? It is not located in the home page or the style guide. Thanks

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your comment. The “welcome text” is editable right from the Theme Options page in the “Main Slider” tab.

Let me know if you can’t find it! I’ll be happy to assist you further ;) Best, Jonathan

Hey Tim,

Did you set your email address correctly in the “Contact Form” tab (in the Theme Options page)? Let me know! Best, Jonathan

OK… so I fixed most issues but there are a few major break downs I can’t find a work around to:

1. Contact form still isn’t sending me emails 2. Slider – isn’t animating on my co-worker machines (though it is on mine) 3. Top Navigation – I have the front page and contact page active yet there is no action when clicking on Contact us here at top.

Looking for your insight. Thanks

Is there a way to add a sidebar to a page? The only thing I’ve seen is the shortcode: [widgets area=one]. So I’m assuming you divide the page into columns and then add that in?

Would love if there was an easier way that I’m missing though

**Edit: Nvm I found it in the Shortcodes section. Don’t need help

How difficult is it to adjust the font size for a specific page? And where would I find this in the CSS ?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello Allin1Design,

Thanks for your comment. It’s not a problem to target specific pages with WordPress, however what text exactly would you like to resize? All the texts on the page?

All you have to do is to put a custom CSS rule within the “Custom CSS” field available in the Theme Options page. To target a page using its ID, simply prepend your CSS rule with ”.page-id-10” (in case your targeted page’s ID is 10). Here is an example to target all text within

tags on the page for which the ID is 10:

.page-id-10 p {
    font-size: 14px !important;
}

You need to specifically set the size for each title tags (h1, h2, h3, etc.) and paragraph tags (p). Because if you specify one size for the whole page then titles and regular texts will be at the same size, like in this example:

.page-id-10 {
    font-size: 14px !important;
}
So better have something like this:
.page-id-10 p {
    font-size: 14px !important;
}
.page-id-10 h1 {
    font-size: 18px !important;
}
.page-id-10 h2 {
    font-size: 16px !important;
}
/* etc...... */

I hope that helps! Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help with this, I’ll be happy to assist you ;) Best, Jonathan

Hey,

Thanks for a very nice theme – but for me the slider does not show the images for some reason. I’ve set the Cache directory to 777 as advised in FAQ and it still does not work – any advice?

I was testing your spark theme demo out on my ipad 2 ios 5.1.1 and your top menus do not work. Keep clicking on the menu links but they don’t respond. Try cycling through the links on the menu…

I don’t see a blog for this theme in your demo. Seems like it should have one since it’s built on WordPress. Can you confirm?

Bought this theme today and have been digging deep into it. One quick question:

I have activated the blog and the main blog page looks good. I see when I add widgets to “widget one” it adds them to a right sidebar. But when I go into an actual post, the sidebar is gone. I have messed around with the shortcodes on a post to make the sidebar show up but it’s kind of a hassle.

Is there a quick fix to make “widget one” automatically show up in a right sidebar on every blog post, just like it does on the main blog page? Thanks!

Hello richardjkaiser,

Thanks for your comment. I can confirm that in the current version you need to manually add the sidebar and widgets using shortcodes in each blog post. I understand this is hassle so I’m looking to improve this in the coming update, in which there will be an option to choose a layout for ALL blog posts (left/right sidebar with custom content/widgets).

I’ll make sure to keep you posted as soon as the update is available. In the meantime please feel free to contact me if you need any help, I’ll be happy to assist you ;) Best, Jonathan

Compliments on your theme – is it possible to embed a Vimeo video on a slider? So if I click on a picture it plays the video or even better the video pops out and plays the video.

I’m a novice to wordpress so if you could point me in the right direction that would be brilliant – specific plugins I may need, code required and where it needs to be placed.

All the best – FDW

Hello Fd-WORKS,

Thanks for your comment. Yes it is absolutely possible to put a video in the slider, actually it’s possible to slide anything: text, images and videos! In order to do so you need to use the <slider> shortcode so if you intend to put your video in the main slider you need to replace the automatically-built slider with the shortcode version. I suggest you take a look at the “Shortcode” tab in the Theme Options page for detailed information, and see this answer to reconstruct the dark welcome-block container for the slider: http://themeforest.net/item/spark-responsive-onepage-html5-wordpress-theme/discussion/2372522?page=14#comment_2743180

Here is an example using the <video> shortcode: http://themeforest.net/item/spark-responsive-onepage-html5-wordpress-theme/discussion/2372522?page=7#comment_2333004

Hello bitsko,

Thanks for your comment! Take a look at the Theme Options page under the “Contact form” tab you should be able to put your own email address to receive the form inquiries.

Been trying to figure a way to do this… is it possible to have more than 1 “landing page style page”? So my homepage is a landing page, made up of several pages. Resulting in a “1-page website.” But I want to create another page that is setup just like the landing page to basically keep the HTML5 fluid page scrolling and the different sections.

The only way I can think to do it is to install another copy of WordPress in a folder within this site. So 2 copies of this theme to create 1 site.

Any other way that you can think of? Thanks!

Hey richardjkaiser,

Thanks again for your comments. This is definitely interesting and I will look into it for a future update. Currently the way to do it is to have 2 copies of the theme like you describe it. Thanks again for your thoughts, it helps improving the theme ;) Best, Jonathan

I tried everything, permissions of cache folder, update timthumbs to the latest version, uninstall the theme and reinstall it, and timthumbs is always showing error ‘No image specified’. The image link is fine, what else can I try?

Thanks Anna

Finally is working. I turned this line to true: [line 33]

if(! defined(‘ALLOW_ALL_EXTERNAL_SITES’) ) define (‘ALLOW_ALL_EXTERNAL_SITES’, TRUE); // Less secure.

and I commented out this line [line 212] //$this->src = preg_replace(’/https?:\/\/(?:www\.)?’ . $this->myHost . ’/i’, ’’, $this->src);

Hi Anna,

Thanks for sharing your solution! There must be something particular with your server’s configuration to require such edit, anyway I’m happy that you had it sorted out :) I’ll share this with the TimThumb authors.

Is there a way of customising the menu when viewed on an iphone? I was think of either: 1. No menu what so ever – header with logo/name on; or 2. Menu appears at top but disappears as you scroll down the page.

Can this be done is so how?

Also when I view my ‘test’ website on an iphone it blinks – I think that it has something to do with the additional slider that I have added. Any ideas?

Is there a simple way of see what icons are available within the theme?

Many thanks FDW

JoNa

Hey ,

Thanks for your comment. Regarding the menu, take a look at my answer to cdching just below, you can hide less-important menu items on the mobile view, avoiding the limited width issue. Let me know if this solution works for you ;)

For the blink issue you mention, could you provide me with a link to your site so I can take a look? Thanks, I look forward to your reply ;)

Oh and about the icons, you can simply unzip the theme on your desktop and browser through the icons, they are located within the /images/icons/ directory, or directly on your server:
/wp-content/themes/spark-v1.9/images/icons/

I hope that helps! Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help with this, I’ll be happy to assist you ;) Best, Jonathan

I noticed the menu gets screwed up in the mobile view when I have 5 items in the navigation. Can this be fixed? The 5th button gets overlaid on top of the content.

JoNa

Hello cdching,

Thanks for your comment and sorry for the delay in my reply. You can choose to hide some of the menu items when the site is seen on a mobile device. In order to do so you will have to switch the menu to “Manual” mode (see the Menu tab in the Theme Options page). Then simply add the “hide-for-mobiles” CSS class to any menu item that you don’t want to appear for mobiles:

If you don’t have the “CSS” field then you need to activate it in the Screen Options panel:

This way you can hide less-important links for the mobile view, avoiding the limited width issue and still offer a great experience for mobile users.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help with this, I’ll be happy to assist you ;) Best, Jonathan

I would like to echo what cdching has said about the menu in mobile view. It looks terrible (sorry to be so blunt). If it can’t be fixed then I don’t see the point in using the theme, after all, it’s supposed to be responsive.

Additionally, if you place a contact form shortcode into a tabbed area, this works well in desktop view, but in mobile view it does not resize.

Finally, in the UK, when using analytics you have to make visitors aware of this and allow them to opt out of cookies. When I install and activate Cookie Control by Civic it doesn’t display properly. Is there a way to get this working? perhaps it’s a Javascript issue?
