Nice job looks great I’m sure this will be a big seller.
Thanks a lot buddy!
Yikes.. I would buy if you can tell me how to remove the thumbnail that expands in the center of the screen when you click on an image…
Err.. it’s very frustrating that when you click on an image and try to click the background, the thumbnails at the bottom don’t disappear. Can this be fixed?
The image that shows is part of the loader, I could probably add an update to make that an admin option.
Once you click on a thumb the thumbnails should automatically hide.
Nice & Clean Template buddy ! All the best with sales …
Cheers buddy!
Honestly I would love to like this one.. But the page templates don’t relate with the overall aesthetic at all. They look so weird and jolting and WTF ? I liked the opening gallery.. until I clicked on “News” and the “Bio / Contact” page, and then I totally lost interest.
That’s a matter of personal taste don’t you think?
I think they look perfect together, I initially created them as black with transparency but that took way too much away from readability.
Now it’s clean, content focused and easy to read.
It wouldn’t be hard to change the CSS background color
Scott.
Can the image panning be turned off?
Great looking theme by the way.
Good luck.
Hi, yes image panning can be set via the options panel.
Thanks, Scott.
Like this. A lot. I agree with cskadet. I would purchase if the thumb went away when you clicked on it. Also, is there an option to remove the “pixelated” look? High detail is lost with that effect.
Yes the pixelated overlay look is an admin option.
Thank you for that info. Any chance of that thumb going away after you select an image? I’m into it after that…
Okay, so once you click on a thumbnail you’d rather just see a preloader and not the thumb in the middle of the screen?
Re-check the demo now, like that?
Yeah! Thanks for the tweak! This works. I think it would be cool option for some people to just select a thumb and have it display full-screen without any ‘exploding thumbnail’ effect at all. After that, this is the best photography theme on here. The rest are too styled or mechanical IMHO .
Cool. Well if you purchase let me know and I can give you the updated .js file as I will have to wait for the review cue to push the update global.
Scott
Thank you! One more feature you may want to consider is having a tool tip or text area where one can write some text about the photo. If you click on it, it could link to something. Also, there aren’t a lot of full-screen video players being shown here. If you incorporated video into the mix, you’d set yourself up for more than just photographers as I’m sure bands would like showing shots of themselves as well as their music videos…
Okay guys, keep an eye on the CHANGELOG at the bottom of the item details, I have pushed the update to the review cue.
Once you see v1.1 that will be the updated version with no thumb in the center of the screen and just a standard preloader as in the demo now.
If you purchase before the v.1.1 update just let me know and I will give you the updated .js file directly.
Thanks, Scott.
Good change with the loader in the center now.. looks so much better.
I notice a few bugs that I just wanted to point out… it might help you with sales:
1. When I roll over a link in the menu, the black, transparent background rolls up and then awkwardly extends a little bit to the right. I’m guessing it’s not supposed to do that.
2. Most of the time when I click the ‘Going up?’ button, the screen goes very jittery in weird. When I move the mouse upward it scrolls back down anyway. Maybe you can tweak that somehow. Personally, I think it would be better if the image fit the entire screen from the solid navigation bar upward and you didn’t need to scroll up.
3. It would be great if when you are not hovering over the area where the thumbnails area.. it was hidden.
Overall, I will buy this theme soon.. but there are just a few things holding me back from making the purchase right now.
1. Will check that out.
2. Going up is mainly for pages/posts. You can turn image panning off so no scrolling.
3. After you’ve clicked a thumb it auto hides only showing after you mouse back over.
Ah, excellent
Okay, the v1.1 update changes the thumb loader to preloader and fixes the nav hover issue. Just have to wait for the review queue.
Scott
I had been looking for a nice theme for my photography on here for months now, and finally I found what I had on my mind! Seriously, I will definitly get this and I will use this.
BUT , I got the same oppinion as “wahkeenasitka” – the gallery is impressive, REALLY impressive, but the contentbox for the blog and the contact looks really terrible to me. Well, dont get me wrong. It is not terrible but compared to the impressive and very individual gallery, the content page is just some random basic “blog” theme.
Still, I am going to buy this when the update is on. Thanks for your work.
Glad you like it, as I mentioned you will easily be able to change the content color via CSS , it is simply a background color.
Scott.
I might putting some margin to the top as well.
I got a question: When I open page the first time of a visit, I can see some sort of white stripe going from the left to the right. Looks like a loading indicator, but for what?
It’s to preload the gallery. You can disable via the options panel.
I’ll do it and get it today.
Okay guys the v1.1 update has gone live!
Nice!!!
Any plans for adding a video/swf/flv background?
Best wishes.
Thanks. Possibly.
Hi Scott.
I think I had the honour of being your first Specere client – it’s a great looking theme, especially as I am a pro protographer in urgent need of a new look. I obviously received v1.09 – how do I update to v1.1?
Many thanks,
Hamish
Hey Hamish,
Cool!
Simply download the theme again and then upload and overwrite.
If you have made extensive modifications let me know and I’ll tell you what files to replace.
Scott.
Hi,
I am running xampp on my pc with wordpress. I have all permission set to read/write to overcome any difficulties while i am developing the site.
I am having a problem. I add images and set the template to gallery so that the images display as a background on the home page but when I browse to the homepage I am presented with the loading bar, a black background and an URI to the image in grey at the bottom of the screen in bold. No background image. The URI that is displayed is correct and the image does exist there.
Any help would be appreciated.
Other than that I love the theme.
Regards
Thanks for buying the theme!
It sounds as though Wordpress is formatting the URI , possibly wrapping it in unnecessary tags such as p tags or like.
Try viewing the source and have a look at the output. Let me know how you go on as I am happy to help.
Scott.
Ok i will chek that out. Caan u point me to where i can make the theme white? I require this as my corporate business image is white background based.
Sure, which parts do you want white?
Scott
Hi,
Lets go the whole way. In order of importance.
The bottom menu bar white The “film strip” transparent border, top and bottom white “film strip” image dividing lines white background white
My main aim is just the menu in white but i would love to see what the site looks like after changing the other colours.
On a final note, is there a way to make the background scroll through images automatically and have the film strip removed on the homepage only?
Hey,
You can use the custom CSS box in the options panel. The elements you want to change would be #footer and #image_scroller so you could do something like #image_scroller { background: white; } etc…
Again, I’d appreciate it if you’d rate the theme if you like it!
In regards to auto-scrolling, it doesn’t support that feature yet, but I may add it in the next update!
I will post you a link to my site once i have finalised the look in white. It looks good though buddy. How do I rate your theme?
Cheers buddy, appreciate it!
If you go to the item: http://themeforest.net/item/specere-wordpress-theme/198479 and look in the right column it should show the rating system, just click on the star you rate it.
Thanks!
It says a minimum of 3 votes required for rating…
EDIT I voted through my downloads screen.
Awesome thanks!
Scott,
I have just realised something with the background image that I require. I presume its either CSS or JavaScript that is fitting the background image to the browser???
I need the image to resize with the browser as it does now but I need it to still fill the screen.
An example would be my current background image. I is 1800×1200 and so fits the widescreen aspect nicely. If change the aspect ration of the browser to the same as a square monitor then i get the black background showing through at he top and bottom.
I think it would probably be safer to fit the image to width however perhaps fitting the image to the shortest edge automatic through script would be better?
What do you think? How do some of the other sites out there do it?
That would be possible, but then it would either not be a correct aspect ratio or it would begin cutting the image off.
It is set now to scale to a proper aspect ratio to display the images properly.
I forgot to mention. I am not using the image scroller at the moment. That is why i have asked about the background positioning. I do believe this theme in its next release cud blow all the others out of the water. It is already more customizable than most which is what people want when they pay the money.
Scott,
Check your mail. I hope you will like it.
Hey Shawpy, got the mail, nice work!
Sent you mail mate
Hey buddy, didn’t receive any more mail, unless it’s the same one I replied to earlier. re: gallery/categories
Yes that was the email. Is there a way? Msg me privately if you like.
Check your spam box I did reply.
Emailed you again buddy.
I’ll buy this for my whife…I think it works for a beauty salon
Cool! Glad you like it.
Scott.
Done.
Awesome! If you need any help with anything just ask!
Scott.
Thanks, I will. Hope it will not be the case, I’m pretty familiar with wp
Cool!
Hi Scott.
What size should the images be?
Many thanks, Hamish
Hi Hamish,
Any size you want but optimum size would be 1024×768px or above.
Scott.
That’s what I was about to ask, I got some issues, the preloader gets stuck and if I disable it the slider does not work… can you have a quick look? Maybe I did something wrong…but I don’t think so.
http://bodystyle.se
MY BAD ! Seems to be doing this ONLY when the f*king admin bar shows.
Ahhh, the new admin bar. Will check why it does that.
Hmm…any config tips to show the images more clearlly?
It all depends on the original image size.
Ok, I’ll make them to the real dimensions, I’ve just dropped them from Google
The toolbar it’s a deal breaker, be aware for future buyers. They anyway can disable it from the profile page in the admin but many will think it doesn’t work (we all know how things go with unexperienced webmasters).
It’s a great skin, really simple to use. Good luck and many sales I wish you!
Yeah I’m gonna have a look at that new admin bar issue, and thanks for the comments, glad you like it and find it simple to use!
