Thanks for your clarifications on positioning Description and using extension for Layered Navigation. Sorry to keep bothering you – a couple of questions: 1. Category image does not appear on category page, though uploaded through image uploader in the Data tab of category & selected. Any special setting or modification required? 2. I wanted to have a plain background. But nothing changed after setting Background to “No Pattern” in Spicylicious Settings. I did clear browser Cache & tried different browsers (Firefox & Chrome).
Did you enabled the module? There is a drop-down “Enabled/Disabled? on the bottom. As for the category images, Which category image are you talking about?
Yeah, it works – I had forgotten to ‘Enable’ after selecting ‘No Pattern’ & saving. Silly of me!
Any thought on the image not appearing on category pages – though I can see thumnails on settings of “Category”?
Thanks & best regards.
Could you send me a link, please?
can you provide a menu as in Universe?
Could you please give links to some sites that use this theme, so I can see how others have implemented it. Thanks. Sam
Hello Samrosenthal,
unfortunately I don’t keep records on sites using my theme.
After installation everything going well except The “Region / State:” drop down is blank and not displaying anything on the below places. Since it is a mandatory field, a user cannot proceed further. how I can fix it? I am using Version 1.5.4 Thanks in advance
Hello pooya1,
when did you downloaded the theme for the last time? This was fixed few weeks ago. Could you please, re-download the files and check if everything is OK?
I downloaded 20 sep, How I can get final version, Should I replace all folder or specific folder?
Hello pooya1,
you need to go to your Profile>Downloads page and re-download the files. It would be easier to just replace all folders, but if you made any changes and want to keep them, you could only replace the catalog/view/theme/Spicylicious/template/account folder, catalog/view/theme/Spicylicious/template/checkout folder and catalog/view/theme/Spicylicious/template/affiliate folder
Thanks,
Hello,
I downloaded this theme for a client and I’m getting a script error that’s causing the page to freeze upon loading.
/catalog/view/theme/Spicylicious/js/jquery.roundabout.min.js:42
Could you please assist with this?
Thank you.
Hello NationalFoodie,
Did you checked the theme documentation? It is clearly stated there (with bold, red letters), that you must always have an EVEN number (e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.) of featured products. Otherwise, the roundabout script could cause some browsers to freeze. Just go to your admin and make sure you have an even number of featured products and everything should be OK.
Thank you for your help, clear oversight on my part.
Thanks for your email reply on Category image. Tried your code line – didn’t work. Never mind!
What should I do to remove Compare? Edit each template to remove the link? Or is there a way of getting rid of it globally on all pages? I tried some extensions – they don’t work!
Since theme is script & image intensive, it takes a bit of time to load. A preloader may help. Can you suggest any appropriate script? Where to place it?
Is it possible to make this Comments Forum searchable – so that we don’t ask same questions that might have been answered? I tried to go through as many pages as possible – but there are far too many!
Once again kudos for a great theme!
Hello paisleybay,
You would need to manually remove the link to Compare page in header. For all buttons, simple CSS style with display:none would be enough.
If the site loads slowly, it is probably your hosting server speed OR you have many products in the database. Usually the theme loads in 0,3 seconds. Did you enabled the system compression in System>Settings>Server tab? I would recommend you to use a value of 8 if you still didn’t set it.
Searchable item comments is something that we (authors) been asking for for may be 2 years. However only Envato (ThemeForest) could do this.
hey, i love this theme, i had upload it too, but its getting crash on chrome, pls help… #newby ups sorry this is the site www.misstutut.com
i just tried to clear all products & category, now it works, so it seems like to hard to load the page, ok thanks
Hello misstutut,
The problem is not in categories and products. May be it would worth the time to check and read the theme documentation.
It is clearly stated there (with red, bold letters) that you must always have an EVEN number (e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.) of featured products. Otherwise, the roundabout carousel script could cause some browsers to freeze. Just go to your admin and make sure you have the right number of featured products and everything will be OK.
Hi there Koev,
I would like to know how can I remove or move the position of (text_based reviews) in the product page??
It is in the way of other information in my website and it doesn’t look nice.
Thanks, Owais
Hello amjadowais,
if you don’t want reviews at all, you can simply disable them from admin System>Settings.
Thanks a ton, Koev. The system setting certainly helped speed things up a bit, but not to the 0.3 sec standard. From 20-25 secs. it has come down to 10-12 secs. Our store is for Indian customers, who mostly use slow broadband Internet connections. Slow loading of website is mainly because of that – not other 2 reasons (1. we use Blue Host whose servers are fast; 2. store is just getting developed – so, not too many products right now). Therefore, it may be necessary to display “Loading … Completed x%. Please wait”. Any good script that will go well with this theme? Where to place it? Where to link it? (header.tpl?). Thanks for your patience.
Hello paisleybay,
I have used this script for clients sites before and I think this is what you need:
http://www.gayadesign.com/diy/queryloader-preload-your-website-in-style/Could you please send me a mail with link to your store to test it? 10-12 seconds is definitely NOT normal.
Hallo Koev,
I am asking for help about your theme, which I test for now on local server.
1. On Register account page is missing introductory text “If you already have an account, please login …” 2. On Affiliate page also missing introductory text and bellow login window there is no footer. 3. I have enabled in my store just one currency – euro. Why side panel in currency tab, does not open and show euro as currency? 4. Side panel also not show slovenian special characters (Š?Ž)?
Thanks in advance, Zazi
Hello Zazi,
could you please send me a mail with link to your store?
Hi Koev,
My store is not online jet. I work on my PC under XAMPP invironment. First two problems you could see also in live preview of your theme. The third problem can be checked using the same language settings – enabled just one. Only last problem is about slovenian special characters, which are not shown in cart side tab.
Please help, Zazi
Hello zazi,
I’ll check the first two problems now.
The third one is not a problem. If there is only one currency it doesn’t show, because you don’t need to change it if there are no other currencies.
As for the special characters, some fonts just doesn’t support them. Which font are you trying to use?
Hello Zazi,
you were right for the first two problems. It was my mistake. Thank you for your feedback. I am uploading the update now. Should be available for download in few hours.
Hello Koev,
I would appreciate, if you could tell me which files should I update.
About currency tab in side panel – I would rather see, despite just one enabled currency, that is on mouse hover displayed. Otherwise I have a feeling that something about side panel is not working as it should. Would it be hard to customize that?
In Spicylicious theme controls I have chose as body font Trebuchet MS and for headings Architects Daughter. The last one I really like and would like to work also in my language. How could I know which font suport Slovenian special characters?
Hello zazi,
you can now download the updated files. You only need to upload two files:
1. catalog/view/theme/spicylicious/template/account/login.tpl
and
2. catalog/view/theme/spicylicious/template/affiliate/login.tpl
For the currencies, you would need to edit the currency module.
Open catalog/view/theme/spicylicious/template/module/currency.tpl and delete line 1 and line 23.
As for the fonts, you would need to check fonts.google.com and see if the font supports special characters.
How I do if I want to have multiple languages ? Nice theme by the way
Hello djskunky,
you would need to install language packs. There are many language packs available in opencart.com extensions section.
Hello Koev,
Thank you for your help.
I still have a problem with both of choosen fonts.
I checked Architects Daugter font on google – under review in test drive I see all slovenian special characters without problems. I also have noticed that I see this characters in some of themes pages (I have not checked them all), but not on modules, like side panel and featured slider on home page.
Second, I have also discovered, that affiliate/register page does not show special chatacters, not from Architects Daugter font, not from Trebuchet MS font.
I would appreciate a solution to this problem.
Zazi
Hello Zazi,
this starts to sound more like a language files encoding problem. It is not page related or module related in any way – a font would or would NOT render properly but it is not possible that it works fine on one place and not work on other place. Probably you would need to check your language files encoding and make sure it is UTF -8
P.S.: If you’re using OpenCart Europ – I can bet it is the language files encoding.
I’ve been there and it’s terrible translation.
Koev, I do not understand which language files should I check? In all language files is just simple translation – no UTF -8. However I do have under System/Localisation/Languages/Slovenian in field “Local” written UTF -8.
In my Error logs always appear the same three errors:
2012-11-02 14:14:05 – PHP Notice: Undefined variable: module_row in C:\xampp\htdocs\opencart\admin\view\template\module\theme_control.tpl on line 747
2012-11-02 14:14:05 – PHP Notice: Undefined variable: languages in C:\xampp\htdocs\opencart\admin\view\template\module\theme_control.tpl on line 788
2012-11-02 14:14:05 – PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\xampp\htdocs\opencart\admin\view\template\module\theme_control.tpl on line 788
Does have this errors some connection with my font problems?
No, this is not an “error”, it only shows that this module doesn’t have layout and position settings like other modules.
What kind of language pack are you using? Could you please send me an e-mail and give me one of your language files – one that doesn’t show special characters.
I would really like to help you even if it’s obvious that it is not a theme related problem, but unfortunately, while working on local environment, I can’t provide much help. I just can’t guess what’s wrong with your store.
However, there are many buyers using this theme with languages containing special characters and no one reported such problem.
Also, don’t forget, as I said in the beginning – OpenCart doesn’t work 100% correct on WAMP , MAMP, XAMP etc. – this is fact and nothing can be done!
As for the language files- the php file itself have an encoding and if it’s not UTF -8 it can’t render the special characters. Last week I had similar problem with OpenCart Europa pre-translated installation where some language files were translated but the php file encoding was set to “Western Europe” which is instant fail.
Hello Koev,
Problem with selected fonts I managed to resolve with your help, for which I sincerely thank you. You are right. Language files were not encoded as “UTF-8”.
Thank you and have a nice weekend, Zazi
Hello Zazi,
I am glad everything is OK.
