nice work.. very clean! good job!
Congrats, good luck with sales. Footer looks really great by the way.Kind Regards,Bedros
nice work! just a question: there is no gallery included?
For gallery, you can use shortcodes for image sliders that can be inserted anywhere in a post/page. By default, the theme styles a wordpress gallery as a list of images stacked next to each other wrapping around, continuing to the next row when full width is reached. Hope this is clear enough.
Nice work. Congrats
Glad you like it. Thanks
Great theme. I’ve bookmarked it for future projects. Just to let you know the fade effect on photos and menus is a bit jittery in Safari, haven’t tried it in other browsers.
Thanks for your interest and appreciate you letting me know about the issue. Will have a look.
Also another question: Are you planning to add in a page builder? That would make it the most complete theme I’ve ever seen
I plan to add visual composer but cannot promise on the date. I kept postponing it since I was not sure how useful it’s going to be for the users, specially with creative theme like this one. There are many shortcodes and appreciate their utility/time saving power myself but page builder is something that I am not fully sold yet. Let me know if it is something that you have used extensively and truly like it and I will seriously give it a thought. Thanks.
BTW, I am unable to see the jittery effects on Safari on Mac. It’s a little bit frustrating to not see the problem that others are experiencing
Awesome work! Good luck with sales
Very nice job!!!!!! GLWS !
Thanks you and thanks to everyone for encouraging words.
Do you have any instructions / documentation on how to use this theme. I can’t find them. Thanks
Well, that’s strange. The theme does come with elaborate documentation. Will verify and get back to you. Meanwhile, pls email me and I will send across the same.
I downloaded the zip file and checked it. Documentation is there. It is the folder named “Squash Documentation”. Please make sure that you have unzipped the file properly.
Since I have a few comments here asking for the same – here is a video on unzipping the Squash download file -
Pls note that the documentation, sample data and theme zip files are in the main folder itself, prominently visible upon unzipping.
We have the same problem. We couldn’t find the instructions / documentation…
As posted above, an annotated video on the files that come with the theme -
The documentation, sample data and theme zip files are in the main folder itself.
Beautiful. Do you have an HTML only version?
Right now only WordPress version is available. We have plans of releasing HTML version as well, but not very soon. Thanks for your interest
How easy is to change those semi-green buttons to full blue?
Just change the color name in the shortcode for the button. We have a few colors for buttons defined as shown in the page – http://portfoliotheme.org/squash/button-shortcodes/.
Very clean work my friend!!!!
Nice theme! bookmarked
Great theme, good luck with sales
Your theme looks great and I am purchasing it soon. One question though:
In Safari on the mac (someone els mentioned it earlier) the social media button react strange. That also goes for the navigation when you’ve scrolled down (i.e. on the homepage). Great option to have the navigation visual at all times! Can you fix this issue within the next month? My client wants a spotless site of course.
Any issues/bugs, I will be more than happy to fix quickly. In my testing with Safari on Mac, I do not see the problem you mention. A short video or even an image would help me. Thanks for your interest. Glad you like this theme.
Sorry for the delay… I made a short video, so please have a look. I’m running Safari 5.9.1 on an iMac with OSX 10.6.8: http://youtu.be/XzhNFvv0cHI
I did the tests on Mac OS X 10.8.4 with Safari 6.0.4/6.0.5 and the flicker “effects” do not show up there. We will need to work together on fixing the ones on old Safari by having a separate site and making changes with you testing it on your mac since unfortunately, I do not have access to an older Mac/Safari. I did some testing on Windows Safari 5.1.7 and it seemed to be behaving ok too.
BTW, are you expecting a lot of visitors to be having older versions of OS X and Safari for this site? If it is a small percentage, probably we can try our best to fix a few and not worry about every small detail. I am seeing that percentage of people who visited/tested my site with old OS X and Safari is about 3% (and it’s going to go down) even though percentage of visitors using Mac is about 40% and percentage of safari users are 12%.
My research on the web shows that the flickering can be overcome by a few hacks since the theme allows you to create custom CSS targeting Safari browser alone.
- Add -webkit-transform-style: preserve-3d; to the elements that are flickering.
- add -webkit-backface-visibility: hidden; to the elements that are
flickering. (Disadv – Removes fixed backgrounds on the page for some OSes for Chrome/Safari that you see on home page and hence I am a bit jittery on adding these hacks to all browsers). See some information here – http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3461441/prevent-flicker-on-webkit-transition-of-webkit-transform
- move the animating element outside of the parent the flickering
elements are within.
- Worst, remove animation/transition for all safari users from CSS and flickering will not happen. Hover will work but with no transitions/delays.
Let me know how you want to go about it. Thanks
Thanks for the fast an detailed reply. I’ll try to fix it with one of your suggestions. I’m working on the site now so in a few days I’ll figure out which solution works best. I’ll let you know.
Another question: I’m having trouble installing the revslider. Installing it from within wordpress didn’t work, so I tried it via FTP. It showed up in the plugins list but when I activate it I get this message: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 50331648 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /sites/dagmaat.nl/www/wp-content/plugins/revslider/inc_php/revslider_output.class.php on line 630. Any Idea what this could be?
Can you try the suggestions given below to fix the memory issue. Looks like you have hit the limit and if not with rev slider, it will happen sooner or later at some point of time if the size is not increased.
Thanks! that worked like a charm. Just allowing more memory in the wpconfig
Great. Let me know when you need help on the safari issue. Thanks
The memory Issue was fixed but now I’m running into problems when I want to have the squash theme and the rev slider active at the same time. When I try to do that, I get the ‘white screen’ and I cannot access the backend of the wordpress site anymore… Disabling one of them (via FTP) solves the problem, but that isn’t really a solution of course. any thoughts? Do I really need the revolution slider?
That’s bit weird and haven’t heard of it so far. You do not actually need the rev slider but it must work well with the theme with no issues. For now, you can just use flex slider or the nivo slider by choosing the same in the options panel under General tab. Make sure you uncheck ‘Disable Sliders’ option too.
Can you check if there are any PHP errors in the log when you activate the rev slider plugin? May be you have hit the memory limit again or it is some other configuration issue which can be fixed quickly.
Also, pls send the URL to this site and temp login so that I can take a look. Thanks
Thanks again, I’ll check it. Could you give me your email so I can send you a temp login for the site. It’s fresh so be free to snoop around…
You can email me through my profile page http://themeforest.net/user/LiveMesh . See bottom right section. Also I am away from my computer right now. So fixing up issues may take some time. Meanwhile you can use the other sliders that are available till then.
Ok, I sent you the login. I checked out the error log but it’s rather large. Can I send it to you as a txt-file or something?
You can send it to me.
As far as I could see I couldn’t send an attachment via your profile page, so I pasted the entire log as text in the message area. Hope you receive it….
As I said in the email, pls get in touch with your hosting provider to help increase the memory limit to help run the site smoothly. Thanks.
I increased the memory limit with my hosting provider and now it seems to run ok!
Thanks for all your effort!
Wonderful. Thanks for letting me know.
Hi, me again… The memory issue is completely solved now and I’m making progress on the website. Everything seemed to go fine and all of a sudden the social media icons from the footer show up on the top right the site. Could you please have a look what could have gone wrong? I’m lost… All I did was change a color in the style.css (I think)... I send you the login last friday (dagmaat.nl) Thanks again.
Looks like some files have been updated while others have not. At least looks like the file footer.php is old one while the stylesheet is from the latest update. Pls compare your installation to the current version to identify the changes and then the problem will get rectified. Thanks
I updated the footer.php and the icons are back in the footer again, only… they are not in the right place.
Also, the header has more heigth now… especially when you scroll down and the small navigation shows up. Any idea what els could be wrong? Sorry to be bothering you so much, but I’m approching my deadline…
Looks like the theme php files are not updated while the style.css file has been updated to latest version. If you have not made too many modifications to the theme files, pls take the new version of the theme (keep a backup of old one just in case you need to refer back or revert) and replace the old files with new one. Then you can reapply some of the changes you might have made. Hope this helps.
If you are doubtful, you can view the source of the demo site vs yours. The content you have in wordpress admin can remain the same as before.
Thanks for your reply (again…) I’ll try and figure it out.
Two other things and then i’ll (try to) leave you alone:
1) the contactform widget you described in the documentation is missing. I read another post on pasting the contact form short code from the demo site into a text widget, but then it does not nearly look as nice as in the demo site. Do I you another plugin, or is there another piece of code?
2) I changed the background color of the primary menu (navigation) to brown. That works in safari but in IE9 and IE10 the background stays grey. Can I fix this? There isn’t a setting in the theme options, is there?
Have been away from desktop. You should see a reply in next few hours. The contact form is only through the text widget the shortcode only. There is no special settings involved here. Will send out the actual shortcode when I am back. Thanks
Posted this to forum for the contact form widget shown in the demo site -
For primary menu color change, your custom CSS should be as shown below and should work on IE9/IE10 as well -
border-color: #A52A2A !important; }
Looks like markup I pasted got truncated. Here is the complete one -
background: #A52A2A !important;
border-color: #A52A2A !important;
very nice ! good luck !
dose it support RTL in any chance ?
Not at present. Glad you like this. Thanks
Great theme! But I have a problem, I can’t seem to find the contact form widget. I looked everywhere… can you help me with that?
Thanks for your purchase. Pls use a text widget with contact_form shortcode. For further instructions, pls look for contact form page under shortcodes menu item in preview site. Hope this helps.
Love the theme so far! Was wondering though if you had plans though to implement a “preview” feature for the Google fonts selction. Right now as is it’s very challenging to choose one out of the hundreds of them without knowing what they look like! Also, having them listed in alphabetical order would be very helpful as well!
Lastly, how can I change the overall color of the them from the teal color to another color? I looked in the Color options in the then theme but didn’t see an option to change that. I read the documentation and it mentioned the “Skin Font Color”, but I did not see the option ‘Skin Font Color’ in the Color options either.
Again, great work!!! Thanks!
Thanks for your purchase. Yes, it is a bit frustrating to navigate through the fonts now and it can be much better. Will put it in my todo list to make the changes you requested – alphabetically sorted font list with preview. Hope it happens soon.
I had that option skin font color for an earlier design. It will be nice to have a magic color picker which would change the theme color in one go to something custom you choose. You can simulate it to an extent by creating a copy of the file /css/skins/default.css and then linking to it instead of the default.css. With many buttons and icons adorning the theme elements now, it will require some manual work to change things – cannot be done everything through CSS.
I am in the middle of a code cleanup for the next update and once I am done with the same, I will attempt to provide a way for user to just change the color scheme by choosing the color from a color picker.
Thanks for these great suggestions – I definitely need input from experienced users like you to make things better.
Sounds good LiveMesh! You rock! Keep up the good work!!!
Hi, I sent a note, I purchased but on the homepage I am unable to see the background images that appear in the different sections as you scroll down. I uploaded the sample xml file that was included with the theme.
Pls see the forum post below for solution to this issue. Thanks -
