Very sharp looking theme :)

On the single post pages is it possible to have the featured images display at with the width you are using now but with an open height (proportional resized without cropping or lighbox)?

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your comment and interest.

Yes, the height of the image is proportional!

I just purchased the new Stark theme and after installing it. I noticed a Stark Options as a primary admin menu and then a Stark Theme sub menu under Appearance. They appear to be pretty much the same. As a developer I would much rather have the one under the Appearance menu. I went to report this on your support but Stark is not yet listed in the drop down so no way to report it there.

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your purchase.

You are correct, the theme options can be found in both locations so people cannot miss it. The theme went live over night at our timezone so Im adding it to the support system now.

Thanks,

Where in the code can I turn off the one not under the Appearance?

damojo

Hi,

please use this file here

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6248073/theme_options_functions.php

upload it to functions/theme_options and replace the existing one.

We removed the main menu item for the options for you.

Please make a copy of this file since you may accidentally overwrite it with newer updates ;)

Kind regards, Damojo

Hello – are you able to sell DIGITAL items in the shop?

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your interest.

Yes. Please see the woocommerce documentation for all features: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/digitaldownloadable-product-handling/

Regards, damojo

MichaelKJordan

ok – not real familiar with WooCommerce.. Is it difficult to use? Do I need to download it into the theme?

damojo

Hi,

WooCommerce is quite easy to use, we find. It also offers a huge amount of options.

You simply need to install the woocommerce shop plugin and you are ready to go. I would advise looking at the woocommerce documentation to get your shop going :)

Regards, damojo

MichaelKJordan

will do – yes, it appears simple. Never looked at it before, regards.

On SLIDER REVOLUTION – It indicates that it is a $15.00 value, will we be required to purchase this or is it included?

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your interest.

$15.00 value means that this plugin is included and is the price that you would normally pay for usage on one of your sites. This applies to the other plugins as well.

Regards, damojo

MichaelKJordan

ok-so no additional costs?

damojo

No additional costs (If you use the plugins in this theme only, usage outside of this theme of course requires you to buy additional licenses).

Hope this clarifies things :)

Hello,

Thanks for this great theme. I am noticing that any changes to style.css are overwritten when the site responsiveness is turned on/off. Is this file being generated by the theme and can you turn that option off? I would like to make changes to style.css without the theme overwriting them if I select responsiveness yes/no.

Thanks.

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your comment and appreciation.

Yes, we are writing the stylesheet dynamically to make it cachable. My developing colleague will answer this question shortly!

Thanks,

Damojo

damojo

Hi,

yep, the CSS file is written when changing the theme options. That makes the pages load way faster. BUT you still got two comfortable ways to change the CSS.

When changing the CSS of any WordPress theme (not only ours) it is best practice to create a child theme. That prevents updates to interfere with your changes and will save you a lot of work/trouble. Check out this article for a “how to”: http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/theme-development/child-themes-basics-and-creating-child-themes-in-wordpress/

Anyway we additionally build in a shortcut to change the CSS without worrying it to be overwritten or updated. In the Stark Option on the Layout tab you will find a “Custom CSS” box that you could use. The CSS code here will be implemented at the very end of the style.css.

Hope this will help to clarify.

Cheers, D

Love the theme so far! Have a couple questions before purchase:

1. Can you post or send me additional screenshots of all admin/theme options (there seems to be only one screenshot in demo)? I need to make sure the right elements are customizable out of the box for a new site we’re building.

2. Do you know if Stark works with any membership plugins? Preferrably wishlist or amember wordpress plugin. There is a free and pro version for both you could test it on. Having this functionality with forum, shop, social, etc would be the ultimate for me it can just get difficult getting this much to play well together :-) http://member.wishlistproducts.com/

Thanks and awesome theme!

Hi,

thanks for your interest :)

1. I added links to screenshots of theme and page options at the bottom of the description page: http://themeforest.net/item/stark-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/4565745

2. We did not test with this particular theme (there are so many plugns that this is impossible, we focus on the most popular ones). Can’t this be done with buddypress as well?

Great theme.. I’m having some issues with the revolution slider and the dropdown menus.

1. Revolution Slider doesn’t work properly in responsive mode. Also not sure how you have it setup in the demo. I would like to set it up the way the demo theme has it but it won’t let me import your text file. What size does it need to be set at?

2. Dropdown Menus I’ve tried adding dropdowns but for some reason it’s not working?

3. Navigation Styles I’ve tried changing the navgation styles in the css panel in the theme options. It seems to break my responsiveness for the nav bar. Any suggestions how I could change those styles without breaking the responsive side of things?

damojo

Hi,

thanks for your comment!

1. I assume you want to setup the slider like on the homepage of the demo. Check out this screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/QBkivFe3

Assign the slider via the page option on the bottom of your page.

2. A screenshot of how you need to name the main menu and how to arrange the menu items: http://screencast.com/t/pbsRyXxdk

I have some presales questions:
  1. Is it possible to combine and compress css and js files?
  2. Any way to put js files at bottom?
  3. Are portfolio items SEO ready? (with yoast options)
  4. Can I link different portfolios?
  5. Your image gallery uses WP [gallery] shortcode or is a custom one?

Thanks!
damojo

Hi,

thanks for your interest in our theme!

  1. Yes.
  2. All theme js files are in the bottom of the pages. Plugins may be in the top part (depends on plugin dev).
  3. Yes, you can use the Yoast SEO plugin with this theme.
  4. Yes, we show it in the preview.
  5. Guess you are talking about the Revolution Slider inside the pages and posts? It is build with its own unique drag&drop backend.

Hope this answers help you in your decision!

damojo

Hi,

the portfolio issue is based on one old function we used accidentally. Please unzip https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6248073/stark.zip and put the included files in the corresponding folders on your server overwriting the existing ones.

We still cannot reproduce the second issue you mentionend but I included an other version of the portfolio.php.

Let me know if that works on your server.

1. I suppose you found this already. The top header left and right are both widget slots.

2. The theme works on a set grid (twitter bootstrap) which means that you cannot simply change content and sidebar widths, sorry.

And more… style.css overwrites than after a while. 1. I create child theme and simple style.css 2. After 1-2 hour work, file change. see http://take.ms/eSVfP

damojo

Hi,

if you change the options via the backend the style.css in the original (parent) theme forlder will be overwritten.

That is why you put the changes inside the child themes style.css. This one will not be overwritten and thus is independent from updates and other changes from the main theme. Basically the grand idea of a child theme.

Cheers, Damojo

I create style.css inside the child theme. But it overwritten.

damojo

Ah, yep, found it! Sorry, will post a link to an updated file here in a few hours.

Cheers, Damojo

damojo

Hi again,

to correct this please upload this file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6248073/theme_style_generate.php to the functions/theme_options folder replacing the existing one.

A general update is in the queue.

Sorry for the inconvenience and cheers, Damojo
