Good day. I have purchased this theme, but it is a bit hard to customize, since it is the first experience to create a website by myself. So, I want to import the demo site so that I can modify it easier. How can I import the demo site!?

TrueThemes

Sure thing my friend.

Please kindly follow along the Sterling Training Videos which outline instructions for installing demo content as well as using all the various aspects of the theme. It is likely that many questions will be answered during the videos.

I really love the Sterling theme, but before I buy it I have a quick question about the homepage templates. For the Homepage – jQuery + sidebar, is it possible to just have a static slide (the slide with the video on the right and text on the left)? This would make it similar to the Homepage – Lightbox Hero but with the different layout/design. I love the look of the video slide in the jQuery version but do not want a slider.

Thanks you!

TrueThemes

Yes sure thing.

This will require adding just 1 single slide to the homepage slider. When only 1 slide is present it will remain “static” and will not display any of the slider navigation arrows, etc.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Thanks so much

Cheers :)

Hi, I am desperately trying to have the slider without padding like on this website that is using you theme as well http://ein-klang.ch. Would you know what I need to do to achieve the same result? Thanks!

TrueThemes

Gorgeous site! Really great job! :)

It looks like the slider is no longer producing padding. Have you already resolved this issue?

Hello, actually the link I gave is not my website but it’s one I’m def. inspired by ;-)

It’s there that I saw the slider with no padding and I think it’s beautiful. That’s why I was asking you how to have the slider set the same way. But I’ll submit a ticket. Thanks a lot!

TrueThemes

Ah, ok brilliant stuff :)

Just adding a small bit of CSS to the Custom-CSS section of Sterling’s Site Options Panel will remove the padding:

.banner-slider .center-wrap {padding: 0;}

We hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for your kind answer for my last question. Here are other questions regarding the footer and shop. I have imported the demo site, but there is not “SHOP” in my menu. How can I set up “Shop” Page? And, about the footer, is it possible to upload picture on the footer?

TrueThemes

Hi There,

So very sorry for the delayed repsonse.

The Author Dashboard here on ThemeForest has been down for 3 days and it’s made it much more difficult to determine when a comment has been posted.

Have you resolved these questions or still looking for guidance?

As per setting up shop, this will simply require installing the WooCommerce Plugin. To install simply click on ‘Plugins > Add New’. Next search for ‘WooCommerce’ and install the WooCommerce plugin just like any normal plugin. Lastly once the plugin is installed WooCommerce will provide an automated “Install Shop Pages” option and you’ll be all good to go.

Hope these details are helpful.

This is a great looking template. My client wants me to put four photos of her as different personalities directly under the Home page banner. Ideally they would have a title and a short blurb underneath (and maybe a link?) Is this possible with the team element or something else?

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thanks so much for your kind words and interest in Sterling theme.

Yes this is indeed very easy to implement on Sterling.

It sounds like a 4 column layout with image frames will be the perfect fit.

The 4-columns with images will look something like the top row of images on this page: http://themes.truethemes.net/Sterling/gallery-4-columns

Note that the text beneath the images can be anything that’s required.

Hope this is helpful and please let us know if we can do anything else to help.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Cheers :)

I may not have been very clear. The four column Portfolio layout would be perfect if I could put it on the Home page under the banner, restrict it to a single line of pics and then add other content below. Is this possible?

TrueThemes

Yes. Wow great minds think alike – we didn’t even see this comment and we posted the link to the 4-column portfolio in your previous comment.

This is very possible and inserted very simply using Sterling’s Shortcode manager.

Cheers :)

Hi,

I dont know how to use jQuery+Sidebar homepage? Where do I insert the slides and text?

Thanks!

TrueThemes

Yes sure thing my friend.

Kindly check out this training video for complete details on setting up a homepage jQuery slider: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/sterling-wordpress-theme/video/42783234

When creating the the jQuery+Homepage template simply choose the page template called “Homepage – jQuery + Sidebar”

To add Widgets to this sidebar simply click on ‘Appearance > Widgets’ and add the sidebar items to sidebar labeled “Homepage Sidebar”.

Hope this information is helpful. For any additional questions please kindly reach out to us via our TrueThemes HelpDesk so we can gladly assist you in the most efficient manner.

Hey guys,

Can I see this themes change log?

Cheers

rarch47

Thanks guys! :)

We’ve been very happy with the theme. I recently noticed that our website http://totalnetworks.com isn’t working correctly on IE 11 and that IE 11 isn’t on the supported list. Works fine in Chrome and versions 10 and earlier. I have some concern that some visitors are using IE11. Is there a way to fix this or is an update coming soon to address the concerns?

Is this something I should have a ticket opened for? My wife manages our site, don’t think she’s opened a ticket. I figured that since IE 11 isn’t listed, it may be something that’s just not supported. Or maybe an update is forthcoming. Please let me know. Thanks!

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Really great job – your website’s looking awesome!

We’re currently unaware of IE11 rendering bugs so it will be super helpful to learn more about which items are not rendering nicely so we can do some testing and provide the fixes.

If you wouldn’t mind, please kindly submit this comment as a Ticket on our TrueThemes HelpDesk so that we can gladly collaborate on this and provide the solution.

OK, I will have her open a ticket. You guys totally rock! It’s a weird one. I’m only seeing it on IE11 on Windows 7. It’s a completely obvious rendering error immediately visible on the home page (slider doesn’t display right, just a blank box, menus are wrong, etc.).

IE 11 on Windows 8 seems to work OK. It's only the combo of IE 11 and Windows 7.

Weird.

I’ll have her open a ticket. I’m so glad that you’re available to help. Keeping up with all these new browser updates/issues must keep you pretty busy. Thanks for all your help!

I have a question can I order this for my client that I will be working with and install it on his account or must the client order it?

Lastly are updates provided on this website or done on the wordpress site?

Thank you!

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thank you so much for reaching out.

The simple answer is “either way is ok”.

If you’ll be building out the site and possibly utilizing our HelpDesk for support then it will likely be easier for you to purchase under your account that way you always have access to the download files, purchase code, etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers :)

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes that makes sense. Now how does updates work? Are the updates done through this site then need to be installed in Wordpress or can the client do this from Wordpress itself?

Pre purchase question. Looks like a great theme. In the shop is it possible to show sub-categories? I have a set of products that are first sorted by product range and then by product category – can this be shown in the shop sidebar?

TrueThemes

Thank you so much for your kind words and interest in Sterling :)

Yes WooCommerce comes with a variety of Widgets that make it super easy to display products by category. Simply drag-and-drop the Widget into the WooCommerce sidebar, set the settings and all will be well.

Here’s a screenshot of the “WooCommerce Product Categories” Widget: http://bit.ly/1fklzTc

Hope this is helpful :)

Is it possible to reverse the direction of the last two sub-menus in the menu bar on pages.

When you use the last drop down in the Main Menu, if your screen resolution is not wide enough, the drop down will fly towards the middle of the page, thinking it is floating. I’ve seen sites where the first few drop downs from the Main Menu are aligned to the left, then the last two or three are aligned to the right, so you stay within the box limit.

Thanks, and again, fantastic theme.

TrueThemes

Hi my friend,

It’s not currently a built-in option however we’re going to do some digging and help to come up with a solution.

Kindly allow a few days as it might require a bit of custom programming.

Thanks so much

Cheers :)

Now how does updates work? Are the updates done through this site then need to be installed in Wordpress or can the client do this from Wordpress itself?

Hi,

I have a pre-purchase question. I see WP 3.7 as the highest version of WP as of the last update of this theme. I searched the comments section here and found two that talked about WP version 3.8+ but they both seem to have some problems. Could you please confirm the that the current version of Sterling does indeed work with WP 3.8.1 without any issues that you know of? Thanks

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thank you so much for reaching out and your interest in Sterling.

We can confirm that Sterling works perfectly on Wordpress 3.8.1 – multiple customers and the live demo site are running this version.

We’ve just updated ThemeForest page to reflect WP 3.8 compatibility.

Thanks again

Thanks for the confirmation and the quick reply. I just bought the theme.

Is it really that hard to get this question answered???? Maybe I should be looking elsewhere and not here.

Now how does updates work? Are the updates done through this site then need to be installed in Wordpress or can the client do this from Wordpress itself (just updating the theme like is done for the plugins)?

TrueThemes

Hi There,

We’re very happy to assist.

Updates are published here on ThemeForest and then the theme gets updated via the Wordpress Dashboard.

An automatic email notification gets sent anytime a new update becomes available.

Here’s a tutorial video outlining the upgrade process: https://support.truethemes.net/?faq=how-to-upgrade-a-wordpress-theme-to-the-latest-version

Hope this helps :)

Hi, theme looks great. I test it on my iPhone and noticed that there is an issue wit the top menu, which doesn’t fold properly in mobile view. Is there a solution for that? just wanted to make sure before purchasing thanks.

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thanks so much for the kind words my friend.

We’ve just tested on iPhone and were unable to replicate the menu issue. Is it possible to provide some more details about which navigation and the errors being displayed?

Thanks so much

Cheers :)

Hi, I’m referring to the top menu (Home Team Sitemap Shortcodes Purchase?) – this when viewing in iphone is seems squashed.

On another note, is there any way to frame and align images and videos in a page/post (without a fixed width as you provide in the short codes) thanks,Dan.

TrueThemes

Thanks so much for the follow up details – they’re super helpful.

We’re going to have a closer look at the top navigation on iPhone to pinpoint any issue and add solution.

The image/frames videos currently have only the built-in size variations. Apologies my friend.

Cheers :)

Good day, I just purchased your theme. And there is some problem with uploading plugins from the site. It is only possible to add it straight to FTP. The site periodically crashes for a second and then it starts to work again. What could I do here? site is www.grateko.lv

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us.

The items you’ve described are very interesting. We’ve not run into this issue before.

We’re very happy to review the website and help to provide a solution. We’ll just need to gain temporary access to the website so that we can do some testing and provide a solution.

Please kindly submit a ticket on our secure HelpDesk outlining some temporary login details so that we can gladly login and provide assistance.

I’m starting to work with your theme, which is great! Had a question though:

my main menu has dropdowns. For example, there’s a menu item called “Passports”, an a sub item called “Fees”. On that “Fees” page, the breadcrumb doesn’t show the “Passports” category, it just says “Home > Fees”.

is there any way to add the intermediary step to the breadcrumb?

Default-user

never mind, just figured it out. I might end up having other questions though!

Brilliant!
