I love the theme. I have been using it successfully for quite some time now. But there is one thing that is bothering me every time you guys update it.

PLEASE start using protocol relative URLs in your code.

My site is only accessible via HTTPS and every time you update, you’ve got hard coded HTTP URLs in your code for things such as the Google Fonts. This means that every time you update, we have to go through and edit the code so that the browsers don’t complain about insecure content.

This is most prevalent in Sterling/framework/theme-specific/admin-functions.php with the Google Fonts links.

Instead of linking to “http://fonts.googleapis.com/” could you please link to ”//fonts.googleapis.com/” so that it will connect using the correct protocol? This is a good thing to do on any code that writes to the page, that gets presented to the user browsing the site. And it would save me a hassle every time you update.

Other than that, great theme. I use both the WP and HTML versions so that my whole site is uniform. Great result. Much appreciated. Would really like to see a newsletter theme, but I know Karma is your flagship so am not too expectant.

Hi, I have a client that has (without discussion) upgraded, yes upgraded to IE 7!!

The edit content area has now lost its small icons such as Bold, Italics etc, and also the + for the shortcuts. Can you tell me if there is a fix for this and confirm if IE7 is the cause?

Sincere apologies but IE7 is not a supported web browser with this theme.

Kindly inform client that IE7 is 8 years old and the current version of Internet Explorer is IE11. Client should upgrade, or better yet, ditch Internet Explorer completely for a free standards-compliant browser such as FireFox, Chrome or Safari.

Indeed understood, however my contact has got it wrong they are using IE11 after all. And although I have updated the theme today it has not resolved the editing icons disappearance???

Revolution Slider resolution/size

Hi, love the update to the theme, and I am trying to use the revolution slider, but cannot find out the how to have the slider the full width of the boxed-layout.

What width does it have to be? Thank you.

Okay I’ve had this issue before but I can’t remember how I fixed it. The FAQ links work once but they stop working after clicking once. Please put your answer in the reply of this comment instead of requesting a private resolution. Sooner the better mate: Conference in the AM.

Please access your server via FTP Locate the custom-faq.js found in wp-content/themes/Sterling/framework/js Open the file and scroll down to line 32 and find the following code. 1

jQuery(at).highlightFade({color:’rgb(255, 255, 209)’, speed: 800});

…and comment out that line by adding two forward slashes like so: 1

//jQuery(at).highlightFade({color:’rgb(255, 255, 209)’, speed: 800});

Save the file.

How I can translate the theme into Spanish?

There are a few options for multilingual site-translation.

The comprehensive and more ‘professional’ solution is achieved via the WPML Plugin: http://wpml.org

WPML is a very powerful plugin that enables you to provide translated text for every part of your website. Please note however that WPML does require you to provide the translated text. This is the most accurate and professional method of translating a website.

Another great and much quicker/easier option is by using the Google Wordpress Translator Plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-translator/

Google Translate is an awesome service that enables you to begin translating your website within minutes. The only downside is that Google uses “machine translation” which means that things like grammar, proper language may not always be rendered correctly during a translation.

Both great options. Just depends on your desired needs.

Hi,

I have set-up a gallery of videos that are in my server, the videos open in lightbox and I have disabled the read more button, as I don’t want them as individual posts. But I noticed that I can only point out to one format of the video, let’s say WebM, is there a way I can have several video formats (MP4, WebM, OGG) and then depending on the browser it will choose the one it can play? Please let me know, thanks!

Yes i have followed the video’s they are good and they explain everything easely. But the thing i think is a bit messy is setting up pages with the shortcodes. I tried to use the xml feed and that did the trick a little bit but still, this was not a theme for me..

I am very pleased with the WP Sterling theme. I have used it on two sites thus far and I am starting on a third. TrueThemes support has been excellent and has provided me with prompt answers to my questions as well as accurate solutions to problems.

If there is one improvement I might suggest, it is to allow HTML in a gallery post description as a standard feature. This would allow text to be formatted and also allow a link to be placed under the image if the user wants BOTH a lightbox and a link. A KnowledgeBase article shows how to do this by making a small edit to the theme, but my suggestion is that this capability should be standard.

I like being able to edit the CSS in the child theme to darken the text throughout. I find that it is difficult to read text that has low contrast on mobile devices, especially outdoors!

I have also used the Karma WP theme to build a site. It is also an excellent theme that I would highly recommend. Thank you for these great products.

I have had the Sterling wordpress theme for a couple of years now. I am currently running 2.1.6 and wordpress 3.9.1. However I just noticed that the ”+” shortcode button is missing from my editor tool bar. Any suggestions?

Yes Wordpress 3.9 received an upgrade to TinyMCE editor so older scripts are no longer compatible.

The most recent version of Sterling (2.2.1) has been updated to work seamlessly with Wordpress 3.9+
