Hey hermano8, Thanks for purchasing. Yes, I will include this in one of the next updates. Cheers, Heath

Hello

It seems that something it’s not working good. I am using the template Home with Sidebar and for some reason it doesn’t show the latest posts, how can I show the latest posts on the homepage?

Also, I want to add a feature post grid like this one androidmag.de It’s that possible? I know some code and I can add it manually between the header and the content wrap but I don’t know how to design that…let me know if there is any chance I can do something.

Thanks

by_heath

The posts aren’t showing? Can you send me a link to your site so I can see what’s happening.

Not using the theme as it is no. You could achieve it tho by using a plugin and inserting in the “Above Content Widget”.

Cheers, Heath

Great theme! Two questions regarding the main menu:

1. Is it possible to navigate to the first level? You mentioned in another comment that there was a workaround. 2. For some reason a couple of our subcategories are showing up side by side in the drop-down from the main menu, instead of vertically. The rest of the categories all seem fine.

Thanks!

Thanks! The site is www.inhmag.com if looking at it would help. (Check “art and fashion” to see the side-by-side problem.)

I’m adding this fix to the next update. In the meantime add this to the Custom CSS editor – you will find it under “Appearance” in your dashboard:

.navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu li { display: block !important; }

@media (min-width: 768px) .navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu:after { display:none !important; }

That will sort it out:)

Worked like a charm! We’re very impressed with your quick responses.

Hi Heath,

The thumbnail image sizes seem to be affected by the number of lines of preview text in the content feed…. for example, if there are more than four lines, the height of the thumbnail images decrease and leave a white block below the image thumbnail in the box.

my developers can't locate the code to set the preview to max three or four lines, which would resolve this issue. Can you please advise where we can find this / how we can resolve issue?

This is urgent as we are supposed to have launched this today but have been trying to resolve independently :(

Thanks so much, Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

Are you wanting to set a max height on the image or set an excerpt length on the content? You can set a max-height on the thumbnail by adding the below CSS to the Custom CSS editor:

.pad-blog-tn{ max-height: 300px !important; }

If you are looking to apply a different excerpt length you will need to go into the content .php file and replace ”<?php the_excerpt(); ?>” with ”<?php echo excerpt(25); ?>”. 25 represents the word count, change this as desired.

Hope that helps.

Hi Heath, Oddly it worked on older versions of browsers but not on my most recent update (in this case, safari Version 6.1.2 (7537.74.9) Strange, huh?

by_heath

which the css?

On the drop down menu, how can we hide or remove the small arrows?

by_heath

Hey aleraancc, Thanks for purchasing Stream. I am releasing an update tomorrow with this fixed, but in the meantime, you can put this into the Custom CSS editor located in the “Appearance” menu:

.navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu li { display: block !important; }

@media (min-width: 768px) .navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu:after { display:none !important; }

Cheers, Heath

I’m trying to disable the social icon’s appearing on author pages, is this possible?

by_heath

Hi Lee, Yes, add this code to the Custom CSS editor – you will find it under appearance:

.auth-social{ display:none !important; }

Cheers, Heath

I’m getting an error message on install from Wordpress that says…

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

by_heath

Hey peezarelli,

Thanks for purchasing:) That’s a weird one. Can I just confirm you are trying to install the “Installable WordPress File only” or “stream.zip” file as opposed to the whole package.

Let me know.

Hello,

I have two questions – 1 – how to set up the Nav to contain an “About Me” that points to a page like this as an About Me for the whole site.

http://themeforest.net/item/stream-a-modern-magazine-theme-made-for-reading/full_screen_preview/7126153

2 How to modify the order of items in the NAV.

I’ve read through your read me file and may have missed it. Thanks in advance for your input.

My site is – planetlucid.com/evolve

Hey Ry,

You need to go into “Appearance > Menus”. Select Create a new menu at the top of the page and enter a name for your new menu in the Menu Name box. Now click the Create Menu button.

You will then be able to select the pages, categories or links you want to add to the menu, and save.

Then designate the menu to menu location – “Main menu”.

Once you have created an about page, you can then add it to the menu, and you can drag menu items into your preferred order.

You can learn more about creating menus here: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Menu_User_Guide

Hope that all helps.

Hey Heath,

I’m wondering if it’s possible to put add a title to the header area alongside the logo. I’m using a logo image so it replaces the text, is there any way to have both (without having to put the text in an image)?

Alex

by_heath

Hey Alex,

Thanks for purchasing. I can give you something to achieve this. You would probably need to use the secondary navigation or the premenant toggle navigation option though as the main menu sits right of the logo of course.

Is this theme 3.9 compatible? I am having a lot of compatibility issues and am working through plugin by plugin but want to see if it is an issue with the core theme.

Hi ace216, Yes, it certainly is 3.9 compatible. What issues are you experiencing?

None of my embedded images are appearing: http://www.prsuit.com/featured2/ordinary-magic-how-travel-opened-my-heart/

That image is hosted in my wp-content. I don’t understand why they are not appearing.

by_heath
That’s very strange… The link is being prepended with “featured2”: http://www.prsuit.com/featured2/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/roadalps-1024x682.jpg As opposed to the correct link: http://www.prsuit.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/roadalps-1024x682.jpg

Have you installed any new plugins recently, or changed permalinks?

Hi Heath,

Vanessa here again. The site has gone live and it looks gorgeous but I have received comments that it is loading extremely slowly – have a look – camerainthesun.com.

I’m assuming you’ve received this feedback in the past – any suggestions?

Have you tested the site speed?

Thanks, VV

by_heath

It took me a long time to hit the site, but once there it was running quickly. Seems like it could be a hosting issue? Are you using W3 Total Cache, that can help speed things up, also using a solution like mircosoft’s azure for image hosting.

I tested the speed on the demo site. It received a score of 77. I’ll look to see if I can improve it.

Cheers, Heath

Hey! Heath

Please Can you provide change log or version number of your theme so it will be really easy for us to understand what is changed or which theme version is going on! :)

by_heath

Yes I WILL include a changelog with this latest release:)

Default-user

thank you :) ... when will be the new release available

When viewing our site on a mobile device, the small arrows in the menu are in the middle of the text. I updated the theme files yesterday, but it didn’t seem to fix it.

We also have a bigger problem (I submitted a ticket a couple days ago and haven’t yet heard back): the “older posts” button at the bottom of the home page doesn’t go to page 2.

Default-user
http://inhmag.com/ (all we have done to make the arrow not in the middle of the text, as a temporary fix, is to put

after the necessary categories). I will try that code and if the problem persists, get ahold of you on the support forum. Thanks!
Default-user

Sorry, the html styled my comment instead of just displaying! We put breaks after the categories to create a space for the arrow, but this makes a weird space in the menu (better than overlapping the text, but still needs to be fixed).

by_heath

OK. It’s definitely not running the latest updates. Once we get you on the latest update it will all be sorted.

Hello,

I’m noticing a bug with the featured author widget in the footer. It doesn’t show up on Pages, but it shows up on Posts.

I’ve replaced it by mimicking it in a Text Widget here http://www.planetlucid.com/evolve/

When you go to a Post however, both show up as seen here: http://www.planetlucid.com/evolve/exalte-logo/

I’d only like to use the Featured Author widget.

Thanks in advance and for all your help in the past.

- Ry

by_heath

Hey Ry,

It’s actually post specific, which is why it only shows up on post pages – it detects the author of the article and displays their information.

If you want to remove it from the sidebar, simply remove the “author spotlight” widget from the post sidebar widget area.

Hope that makes sense.

Heath

Heath,

Hello. I tried adding the custom CSS to hide the random arrow in the dropdown menu but it isn’t working: http://bikinimarketin.wpengine.com/

Any ideas? I’ve added this: .navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu li { display: block !important; }

@media (min-width: 768px) .navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu:after { display:none !important; }

Thanks, Nick

by_heath

Hey Nick, I am about to release an update which includes a bit of an overhaul to the nav. It now supports 3+ levels and this problem will be alleviated.

...that second CSS snippet should have worked for you tho?

Try it without the media query: .navbar-nav > li > .dropdown-menu:after{ display: none !important; }

Cheers, Heath

Hi Heath,

How can I remove the featured image from showing below the post title? Preferably without hiding it with CSS.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for the theme. It has been working very well so far. I have run into two issues though. The first is that I have added posts to the “Featured” category; however, they don’t appear to be showing in the fancy slider like you have on your demo page. The other is that the sidebar content doesn’t appear to be showing when I go to a posts page.

EDIT: when looking at your demo, looks like the sidebar widgets aren’t supposed to show up on the posts pages. I’m still trying to get the slider to work though.

Thanks,

Joe

I figured out the other issue as well, after reading through previous comments. I didn’t realize I had to create a static page that was set to be the home page. Thanks!

by_heath

Hi Joepond,

Yes, there are two sidebar areas, one for posts, and one for pages, so you can have different widgets for each.

And, yes, you need to create a homepage and assign it as the front page. I’m not sure why, but this was a specific request from TF that the index page couldn’t be used as the homepage template with slider… don’t ask me why.

That’s all covered in the documentation on the first couple of pages too if you get stuck.

Cheers, Heath:)

Hi, there!

This theme looks both clean and brilliant, and I am weighing whether to transfer my site over to it from Steam. I just have a couple questions before I’m sold:

1. Can you customize articles to have a full-screen photo-based layout and centered text without a sidebar as shown here? http://stream.byheath.com/about-2/ We aim to have a simplistic, uninterrupted experience, especially in our longform writing.

2. Is there a way to make the headline font size smaller for mobile? We’ve loaded your demo site, and there are a few issues with responsiveness, and the headline space conflicts take away from an overall beautiful design.

3. Does your theme have minisite-building capabilities and sidebar/page builders? (This was demonstrated through www.industrialthemes.com/steam, the theme we are currently using.)

Besides that, this is just phenomenal work. Thank you!

Hello,

Is there a way to disable comments through wordpress? I want to disable any commenting through wordpress and set it up so people can comment through facebook. Any help on this would be great!

Thanks,

Joe

by_heath

Yes, you certainly can, very easily. Simply go to “Discussion” and under “Default article settings” un check “Allow comments on new articles”.

Hey, by_heath:

Is there a way to change the behaviour of the Popular Posts widget to display the posts with the most views / reads instead of comments?

I tried changing
$query = array('showposts' => $number_posts, 'nopaging' => 0, 'orderby'=> 'comment_count', 'post_status' => 'publish', 'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1);
to
$query = array('showposts' => $number_posts, 'nopaging' => 0, 'orderby'=> 'post_views_count', 'post_status' => 'publish', 'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1);
as a guess in the most-popular.php file, but it sorted by most recent instead of views.

Your help is appreciated!

For others who might desire this modification, I tinkered a bit more and found that modifying the above to the following worked and sorted my Popular posts widget by article reads rather than number of comments:
$query = array('showposts' => $number_posts, 'nopaging' => 0, 'meta_key' => 'post_views_count', 'orderby' => 'meta_value_num', 'post_status' => 'publish', 'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1);
