Wish I had found this theme first, instead of the one I got!
Two questions: Will the slideshow play a screencast.com video? (I don’t know why it wouldn’t, but it seems like every theme I’ve looked at only mentions Vimeo and YouTube.) I tried it with my current theme, but the height and width parameters are off, plus it displays width and height scroll bars. Not good. (Might be a problem with screencast.)
Also, when a video is displayed in a lightbox, is there any way to have a “close video” function displayed? I have never seen a theme with this option. The only way to exit a video is to click somewhere else on the screen.
We also support bliptv, daily motion, flash and of course html5 videos, but I don’t think any of us have ever tried with screencast. Most themes only support the two you mentioned as they are easy to support – html5 in particular is a huge and much more complicated jump in coding not to mention the difficulties in diff browsers related to html5 video.
The height and width parameters, if these are the only issues dogging you, are likely easily dealt with, since for almost all functions in Striking related to media, including in use in an iframe or lightbox, Height and Width are adjustable.
I suggest if you are a purchaser of Striking (I don’t see your purchase badge but your comment gives the impression that you have a copy or are designing for someone else who has purchased Striking) you head over to the forum and create a thread with more details and we will see if we can help. But be advised that we are hard into preparing a theme update, and if the issue does become a little more complex, we may have to sit on it for a few days.
Some lightbox scripts do not support a close button natively. The current version of Striking uses the colorbox script for lightbox generation, and we custom coded a close button for video when putting a video into a lightbox. So Striking has the close button feature if one is playing a video.
James, thank you for the fast and comprehensive response. I have not purchased Striking yet, but will do so within the next day or two. Not only are the documentation and features impressive, but the customer support is exemplary, judging by the Comments section.
One more quick question, please: In the future, I might want to add a social forum on a site created with Striking. Would I need to purchase a separate buddy press theme and install it in a subdirectory folder with a link to it on the main website, or can it be added with a buddy press plugin and be part of the original site? I hope that question makes sense. (I’m still learning the ropes of WordPress.)
James, just to add: I think raikit and I are asking the same thing. Raikit said, “We wish to support perspective for a forum or social network that we want to be integrated directly into our website to not have to resort to secondary locations.”
Hi , is it possible to do the differet logos in every languages?
Thank you for your purchase of Striking.
If you are using the wpml plugin for multilingual sites, I believe it is, as with wpml, one “cuts off” pages for a language at a certain point and then they are independent of the root language. We also have a thread on the forum on customizing the logo on a page by page basis using the page id, so in fact, although it might involve a little bit of custom css, I am reasonably certain it can be done in Striking.
You should head over to the forum for your questions – http://kaptinlin.com/support/ – as you must be aware from reading prior comments that we do not provide theme support on usage and customization questions except by way of our dedicated Striking support forum.
As both this question and your question below may involve separate custom css, please ask each as a separate question on the forum. Don’t lump them together – our forum posting policy is one question per thread, that way others can also search it out in the future.
To all Striking purchasers, please ask your questions on usage and customization by opening a thread at our Striking support forum (the button linking to the support site is found in the item details page about halfway down), and we will attend. And our support forum already has answers to many of the question being asked here at Themeforest.
We do not answer detailed questions on Themeforest as we only have so many resources available for free support, and so we concentrate them where we can do the most good – which is our support forum, where we have thousands of registered members, and posted solutions to 2 yrs of questions! As a result, we only visit this Themeforest comment thread once a week or so (and post this same message again and again) whereas the Striking support forum supported daily by the Striking Team.

we bought the theme over a year ago as the basis for the homepage of our sports club. I am still amazed at how flexible is the theme in the design possibilities.
The support is perfect and amazing.
Adaptations and support far beyond the place I think possible level.
We wish to support perspective for a forum or social network that we want to be integrated directly into our website to not have to resort to secondary locations.
Thank her for the great theme and great support up here!
Its James. Thanks for your kind words about Striking. You in fact bought in January 2011, and thousands of TF themes have not only come, but already disappeared in that time.
In respect of your suggestion, can you create a suggestion in the forum, and maybe expand upon your request a bit? It would be appreciated as I am intrigued, but need a better understanding of what you mean.
Striking is the best theme ever! I will use it for all my sites.
Great customer and technical support!
Thank you for your job
I see you joined back in late July, but just had occasion for the first time to visit us, and I gave you an answer within a very short time of your posting a rather unique error type generated by a 3rd party plugin. Glad we could help, and that there was a solution (!) and thank you very much for your kind words. We try.
I am certain you shall find our forthcoming updates very useful for all your client sites.
I am seriously looking into this template. On your page it says it is set for commerce. I am looking for a template that I can customize til my heart is content and this looks like it, BUT if I throw in a commerce add-on such as woo-ommmerce will it play nice with having that -‘shop’ as a nav tab on my top navigation? Just wondering what the commerce capabilities are since I am a wp blogger looking to keep my site as a blogging site, but adding commerce as a secondary addition to my readers to sell my branded products, is this possible with this theme?
Thanks for your interest in Striking. Striking has custom code in it so that the woo commerce plugin works in Striking. However, Woo recently updated their plugin, and so we are working on matching (and improving) the Striking and Woo integration for the forthcoming update of Striking. As well, in the next Striking release, we are also going to be advising and updating on other ecommerce solutions that work with the Striking.
Purchased this theme some time ago and it was working like a charm. Suddenly the images in the slider stopped showing.
this is the site: http://www.pproeducacion.org/
You are using a very old version of Striking – Ver 1.8 – from 2 years ago! But you have updated your wordpress to a current version. That version of Striking will not work with the current version of wordpress since the wordpress core has had many, many changes.
Thus you need to update your Striking to the current version, which you will have to do via ftp as your old Striking version does not have the internal auto update feature that the newer versions contain. So download from your account the current Striking package and install the striking theme by ftp.
If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, please head over to the dedicated Striking support forum, register (takes 5 seconds to do) and post any questions you might have, and we will help you. Updating is quite straightforward but we are always prepared to help.
we use your theme on this site: http://www.beauty2u.de/
Our problem is that the RSS feed dont work, it dont show anything of our articles.
How can we fix that.
I do not see your purchase badge, but I do believe you have posted on the support forum under your purchase id and I believe Paul from our team has responded? If not, please post or bump your thread at our support forum, and we will assist you. We are not aware of any issues with the RSS widget, which is widely employed, and I am suspecting if you have an outstanding issue, it is probably unique to your setup, and we will see if we can assist you in tracking it down.
Good night, is there any way to try before you buy?
At this time there is not. We are examining creating a usable demo, but it is not in place yet. But we would be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
Is there any news on the update yet?
I am posting as I have updates, on the support forum. I am in fact working on the multisite demo where existing users can go in and do some pretesting to help us confirm the core code, and with any luck, it may go live tonight or tomorrow. We have a full draft version in hand of Striking R, and are internally testing for stability, and have a couple of last minute things we are amending. Please go to the forum and follow the sticky thread on the responsive release, for the latest updates. I should be posting to it tonight with more info.
When do you expect to release the responsive version of Striking? Will surely purchase when it’s released.
Thank you for your interest in Striking. The responsive release is internally undergoing some stability testing, and we are progressing to a closed demo very very soon. Although you have not purchased, you can still read the threads at our dedicated support forum, and we have a sticky thread ongoing on the forthcoming responsive release (which is late we admit). Our expectation is about 7 days of closed demo testing, and then assuming all is well, formal release to Themeforest.
i’m trying to upgrade to the latest versino of the striking theme but i get the following error message when the archive with the theme upgrade files is being extracted:
Could not copy file.: .../wp-content/themes/striking/cache/images/index.html
Could you please describe how to fix this problem?
Thank you for purchasing Striking.
When you receive an error of this nature, it usually has to do with upload limits set by your host. One typically runs into this type of limit on cheap shared hosting. You have more then one option to deal with this. You can contact the host and ask them to increase your php upload limit, or you can install the theme by ftp.
Should you continue to have issues, please head over to the dedicated support forum, register and post a thread with your questions, and we will assist you.
How do I use relative url’s for my images used in the slider/portfolio’s etc?
I see no option anywhere, all I do is set the featured image, it doesn’t let me change to a relative url.
(Getting errors from timthumb with absolute url, relative works fine)
Nevermind, It seems the timthumb problem was being caused by the better wp security plugin.
Thank you for purchasing Striking. Glad you resolved your issue. We actually recommend that users disable timthumb – it is a legacy script and we have an option in the Striking Advanced Panel for users to turn it off, immediately after updating to the current Striking version. We have full instructions on this matter in the Striking 126.96.36.199 sticky thread, in the first post.
If you need help on any other matters, the dedicated Striking Support forum is the place to ask them.
Hi, I’ll ask again. Is Striking compatible with setting up a community forum within the website itself? I’m referring to the website that is generated from the main folder containing the Striking WordPress theme. Or does the site have to link to a separate community-type theme located in a subdirectory folder which is designed specifically for BuddyPress? In other words, I would have to buy another theme in addition to the WordPress theme.
I know what I’m trying to say, I’m just not sure it’s being communicated effectively. I’ve never set up a community forum before, but this is a future possibility for the website that I want to use the Striking theme with.
It appears I had misunderstood your question above, and apologize.
One community forum Striking is compatible with where the forum is installed within the website framework itself is wp symposium plugin:
As you may be aware, we are about to release a significant Striking update, and we are going to undertake some testing of other forum plugins so we can advise on compatibility, and if possible, on integration where it is feasible, with the new Striking release. We are planning on testing bbpress, simple forums and mingle.
Hi, James. Thanks for clarifying.
I took a good look at WP Symposium and will pass on it. By the time a forum is needed, I’ll probably get another theme that supports BuddyPress and install it in a subdirectory, simply because BuddyPress has such a large community of users.
For now I’m going to purchase the Striking theme sometime today, just to learn my way around. By the time I figure out a few things in it, the update will probably be released. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you guys do with that.
“TIA” stands for “thanks in advance”
Hi there, great theme!
I was wondering… Is it possible to remove comments & post comments box from posts – without messing with php template.
I now how to do that with template. But I’m afraid that I can lose my changes when updating theme.
Thx for answer,
Thank you for your kind words about Striking.
Absolutely. On every page and post page you are editing you will see in the metaboxes below the content editor an option to toggle comments on and off in the “Discussions” metabox. If it is not showing, the go up to the Screen Options tab in the top right hand corner – it is in Screen options that one determines the metaboxes being displayed for each page edit type. Once you have toggled on Discussion, you will see a check box for both discussions, and pings and trackbacks.
Should you have any other questions regarding this matter, please go to our Striking Support forum and we will provide further support there.
Having some problems with the navigation bar, I am using the built-in menu. But the navigation bar seems to indent itself, and in that gap is a transparent button which is the homepage, but I already have a home button in the menu and can’t seem to make it visible and move the menu over so it doesn’t favor one side of the template, and more centered. Any ideas? Here is the dev link to see what I am talking about http://fen.compassmac.info/
I believe everything you have inquired about (if I understand your questions correctly) is already answered at our Striking Support forum in support threads.
If you use google to search per the methods outlined in the support forum header ( http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussions ), and the posting guidelines, you will find all the answers about centering the navigation, adjusting the space between your logo and the menu, use of the built in nav vs the wordpress custom menu, etc. You do not have to register on the forum to search and review threads, only to post new threads, or to comment in an existing thread.
Should you have any further questions on these matters please register and post in the forum. We don’t attempt to provide support here at Themeforest.

Thx for your quick replay,
i found it.
Must say it’s best method I ever saw – and I saw a lot!
Thank you for your compliment. We do try. I think you will like the forthcoming updates of Striking. We have some new features that impact significantly for the better many aspects of the theme.
Something wrong with breadcrumbs section in Firefox 17.0. There is some shadow line appears.
I believe you have cross posted on the forum although perhaps under a different user name. Firefox itself has a compatibility problem with some computers using a brand of hardware acceleration for their video and this is affecting some theme elements. There are a couple of very comprehensive posts on the forum about this – including a link to the Mozilla thread that discusses the issue. The solution is to disable hardware acceleration temporarily. There are also separately a couple of firefox extensions that are also known to have some issues with wordpress.
If you have more questions about this, please do not hesitate to post on the forum, and make a note that you posted here under a diff user name, so we recognize any discussion that has already occurred.
I just love striking theme it’s sooo customizable.
I just installed Woo Commerce (using the current striking theme install)
and my entire site is running slow, the front page won’t even load and when the plugin is deactivated my site works fine.
Can you help?
Thank you for purchasing Striking and for your observations on the flexibility of Striking. As you know the customization ability of Striking is one of its salient market points.
In respect of woo commerce (a detailed and complex topic at the best of times) I ask that you go to support forum and we will assist you with your questions. As both KaptinLin and I have noted in the prior comments, we provide our daily support via the support forum. We support the woo commerce plugin with Striking, but Woo has updated its plugin recently, and the forthcoming update of Striking is intended to address any recent compatibility issues.
