I use the a striking RTL wordpress child theme I bought from here: http://rtl-themes.com/ that supports Arabic which is right to left.
Everything works great, I just want to make sure I always have the latest version of the theme installed. Is there a way to “alert” when an update comes out?
Thanks in advance!
Interesting, I have never seen this site, and Striking supports RTL natively other then the list shortcode with more coming in the forthcoming updates, but I suspect they have some other nice tweaks in their child, and I commend them for the ingenuity to target this specialty audience.
Unless they disabled the automatic update function in their child theme, you should still see notices. You can always check back at the Striking Support forum from time to time, for updates.
Be aware that if you update, the child they have produced may not work, you will have to give them some time to update their child for theme synchronicity, and I would suggest that when you become aware of an update, you first check with this child developer to ascertain if they have updated their child appropriately.
As well, also be aware that when one has a child, the process of updating a theme is different then when one has no child theme in place. The Striking Support forum has a thread for the current Striking version, and in it are instructions for updating a child. This may or may not be of some assistance to you.
If you have any other questions, please post at the forum, or log into the forum and send me a personal message.
Are there any plans to make this theme responsive? (My apologies if you already did so. The demo is not responsive.)
Yes, and the timeframe is very short, possibly in the first week of January. If you have been following the dedicated thread on the forum for the upcoming responsive release, you would know we are well along in our beta testing. Several design houses that use Striking have been beta testing, and you might want to review their comments. They are pretty wowed. We kept all the features of the current Striking (and if you have reviewed the responsive theme offerings then you are aware they are pretty simple) plus added many more.
Thank you for your interest in Striking.
I have weird problem with homepage ghost line on Windows 7 and Firefox 17.0.1 on it
I put full description of problem to http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/7198/problems-with-firefox-on-windows-7-with-striking-theme#Item_1 so please help me.
Everything else works like a charm!
Thanks and we responded at the forum. It is a problem with Firefox, not Striking. The links provided detail more fully – they have an issue with their css interpreter, amongst other things.
Months of saying it will be Responsive next week
The truth always works best
Yes, we have suffered some delay, that were unanticipated. Striking Responsive is in beta testing, and in fact some of the testers have posted some feedback in the responsive thread at the support forum. Did you see it yet? The comments from reflectiveimage on the prior page of these comments reflect his having seen the beta version, after being upset at the delay. His comments and change of tone occurred once he understood the magnitude of what is forthcoming. We have managed to carry over all the current Striking features, plus added many more.
We are very advanced in our Beta testing – we have been making changes and additions based on the feedback from the 22 design shops that are participating in the beta testing, and while a release by New Years Day is not realistic I think perhaps not long after that may be possible. We had originally wanted to time the launch of Striking R with some other new stuff, but we are going to forgo the simultaneous launch in favour of getting Striking R out the door.
Our deepest apologies about the delay. I do believe you will find the end product to be worthwhile.
If you have some sort of urgent need, or are planning for a new customer site, I suggest you contact me by pm at the forum.
I’m planning to purchase this theme and use Tribulant’s e-commerce shopping cart (WordPress Shopping Cart). However, I encounter this support article in their forum that says the Striking Theme has minor layout issues with their shopping cart plugin.
Can you comment on this?
Thank you for your interest in Striking. A couple of things you should know – Striking is in a period of metamorphosis, and in a short while the current version of Striking is being replaced by a completely new responsive version. We intend to test the R version with some of the ecommerce plugins, and either build compatibility into the theme or build bridging platforms. But we have not done so as of yet, and I would say most of this bridging work will not occur until the Jan/February timeframe. However, Tribulant’s eccomerce plugin, along with Woo, are the among the first priorities on the list.
As well, even the current Striking 5.1.9 series is extensively rewritten in its core code vs the prior series, and I cannot say off the top of my head whether those issues will still occur. What I can do actually, if you are interested, is set up the current striking version on a site, and if you have a copy of the plugin, you load it up and see what issues you encounter. As we are busy coding the responsive betas we don’t have time to play, but you could if interested, and we could attempt to support you in any issues you find. The current Striking theme is going to be supported for the foreseeable future even though being deprecated > we have to many users to abandon it (they don’t want to switch to responsive or the switch is going to take some planning and time depending on their skillsets) and it in fact is on path to Striking Ver 5.2 targeted for 2-3 week of January 2013.
As well, it that ecommerce plugin responsive yet? I don’t see that it is, but we do have a testbed set up for the forthcoming Striking Responsive theme and we can add you as a beta tester (it is a path based Striking site as Striking is fully multisite compatible as you may be aware) and you can play there with this shopping cart plugin if you like.
Should you be interested, please send me an email at support @ strikingsupport . com (without all those spaces obviously) and include your skype id, and we will contact you.
First Thanks for this theme, he is very nice
I have seen few little bug as this one :
When you see the website in full windows size, nothing wrong, play with the windows size and put it as the minimum one and put it back in full size.
The sub menu won’t have the background completely full. Tried it with Last Google chrome version.
I’ll notify you if I find another bug, I didn’t remember for the other one yet…
I fixed little bug about the menu when you put down the resolution or use the site on smartphone or pad (iPad etc). I just see you are working on the responsive, I’m waiting for this
I don’t believe i recognize you and I am assuming you have not posted at the forum, which is the proper place to make such posts, and also supply more detail, so that we can address any such issues.
Please cross post there, and include a web address or some screenshots. We always seek to improve Striking, but the above post, while I am sure is kindly intended, quite frankly does not help Striking move forward at all. Hopefully you will surf over to the forum, provide some relevant information per the forum posting guidelines, and should there actually be an issue, we will work to address it. And of course should you have “fixed” something, I believe the whole Striking base would be grateful for your knowledge and assistance.
Amazing theme…the support is fantastic. I asked for help over the holiday season and despite the timing, the support team responded right away and was very helpful. Thank you!
And we are still busting our butts to hustle out more wonderful stuff in the forthcoming updates. We have worked every day including Christmas and New Year’s. No rest for the weary! LOL
Thank you for your vote of confidence. We are doing our best.
Pre Sales question… will the upcoming Striking Responsive theme, be an upgrade to the current theme or a theme in it’s own right.. In other words if I purchase the current theme will I need to pay again for Striking Responsive?
BTW in looking at many themes Striking and its support looks the best. I am currently looking to move away from a theme whose upgrading and support are worrying to say the least.
Thank you for your interest in Striking. It is our intent to introduce Striking R as a replacement for the current version of Striking, so any current user will be able to upgrade for free. At that time the current non-responsive version of Striking will be deprecated, but we will still be actively supporting it, even to the extent of continuing to roll out updates for it > we have too large a user base to simply abandon or dump a theme and many of our current user base have no need or desire to switch to responsive, or have sites so large that they will need to take some time to plan out and prepare. So we will support both responsive and non-responsive, but once we introduce the responsive, only it will be sold at TF.
We have an active thread at the forum on the forthcoming responsive version, some of the beta testers – all of whom are independent professional designers and know all the responsive themes in the market have posted in it, and they seem to be loving what is forthcoming.
Striking support is famous, in fact it has been written up in many independent blogs. We are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but to date we have introduced over 50 updates to Striking, and it is now one of the very few themes that is still supported to current wp and internet standards even though it is over 2 yrs old.
We do not abandon. Its as simple as that.
There are lots of exciting developments on the horizon for Striking and its team. I do not think you will regret your money spent.
Thanks for thinking of us.
I have the same question as stepencj. I am looking at getting a theme in the next day or two and really like what Striking has to offer. If I get the current version, will the responsive version be additional or is it included in the price.
See my answer to stephen above. I think I covered off everything you asked and more.
Again, thanks for thinking of us.
I have another question. Are there any help guides/tutorials on how to get up and running with this? I am brand new to Wordpress and need all the help I can get.
Yes. We have a few and you can see some of them in the threads at the support forum. Striking R is going to roll out with a whole slew of new videos btw.
I can’t seem to add more than 1 social profile to the social widget anymore. Any ideas why?
Your question was answered already at the forum, and thank you for posting there, the correct place to ask user questions. Hence you received a quick answer.
Happy Striking and New Year
I keep getting this error intermittently. I have no idea what caused it, but it started happening after the last theme update. Any ideas/suggestions to fix?
As well, your question was answered already at the forum, and thank you for posting there, the correct place to ask user questions. Hence you received a quick answer. As we noted, it is nothing to do with us, but it appears to be from a prior theme or plugin from that author that you had installed.
I would like to know how to add more space between my logo and the navigation menu http://bitly.com/Itli3b
And Best Wishes for 2013,
You have a setting in your Striking General Panel that controls the amount of space between the logo bottom and the navigation. Did you try adjusting it?
I ask that should you require any further help – the Striking support forum is the place to post a question, and gets the quickest of answers. This Themeforest thread is for prospective buyers who have prepurchase questions, not for users who need usage or customization help. This is noted in our FAQs tab above.
We will gladly assist you there.
Our best wishes to you and your business for a prosperous 2013.
I have always used this place to ask for some help.
Please can you indicate the support forum URL pls ?
To answer your question :
Yes, you can adjust the height header within the panel control. BUT i then shall raise the logo bottom height and mine is already at the maximum ie 50 px.
Please find hereafter a screenshot of the header once i have raised the height header : http://bit.ly/UJIBtT (and that i don’t have the possibility to have more than 50px for the logo bottom).
The main page containing the Striking Description (click on the Item Details tab above this comment thread) has a button linking direct to the thread about 1/3 of the way down. As well, the FAQ tab above has the link in the first FAQ. But so you don’t have to go anywhere, here it is:
All requests are responded to in a short period of time.
I was curious about the language setup. i would like the site to be in both french and english. i see that some sites have a little pull down and you can select the language. is there that option for striking?
Thank you for purchasing Striking.
This is accomplished via the addition of a multi-language plugin such as Wordpress MultiLanguage. Striking is preconfigured for this plugin by default as we are developer subscribers to it.
I ask that should you require any further help with WPML – the Striking support forum is the place to post a question, and gets the quickest of answers. This Themeforest thread is for prospective buyers who have prepurchase questions, not for users who need usage or customization help. This is noted in our FAQs tab above.
We will gladly assist you there with any other wpml questions, such as how to turn on the preconfigured language flags in the widget area, etc.
Hello again. Any ETA on the responsive version of this theme? I really can’t wait much longer to set up my website and I have to have a responsive website given my clientele.
We have a full working beta of Striking R, now actually in Beta Ver 6. If you contact me at support @ striking support . com (without the spaces) and include your skype id in the email so I can reach you, I can add you to the beta site so you can peruse it. If you had purchased Striking already then I could have released a beta copy to you for testing and predevelopment.
I suggest you email me if you are interested in pursuing this any further. I would be pleased to discuss this matter, including timing, with you.
Thank you for your interest.
Thank you for using skype for your church group needs. May I ask if you followed the updating instructions posted in the version thread at the support forum? You skipped an important step. You did not clear your cache per the setting in the Striking Advanced Panel. After you have done such your slider images will return.
I ask that should you require any further help with usage matters – the Striking support forum is the place to post a question, and gets the quickest of answers. This Themeforest thread is for prospective buyers who have prepurchase questions, not for users who need usage or customization help. This is noted in our FAQs tab above.
Thanks, but that didn’t do the trick. My previous interactions were always in this thread, so thanks for the heads up.
Will follow for your post over at the forum. Do you also have a caching program in place? If so, you would need to clear it as well.
Thanks for really good theme.. Please add my website to the showcase list of striking.
Web Design Dubai
You did a great job. Everyone thinks we always have to use these fancy sliders, but high quality images with a nice slow transition in the Nivo Slider is super eyecatching. PS please contact me at the forum about one very small matter I spotted that I wish to make you aware.
Thank you for using Striking for your web design business. I think you were already scheduled for the updated showcase.
Hi thanks for your efforts with your themes, can you confirm your responsive release.. is it already available or is it yet to be released?
Thank you for your interest in Striking. It is soon to be released. If you have been following the forum, you may be aware that we just completed a major Striking update released only today.
So next we turn our attention to rolling out Striking R. I hesitate to give a specific day, but we intend to motor on it. We already have it 85% done, excluding adding the help functions and videos.
Hi, is it possible to add the wide full screen background, used on the homepage, to other pages with say a small galley or static photo overlaying it?
Please surf over to the Striking support forum, per our faq guidelines above, and ask your question, and we will provide assistance.
Hi, im new to striking.
I have a problem with the new update which is available. I get this error massage:
Downloading update from http://api.kaptinlin.com/themes/striking/verify-purchase/6692483f-ad74-482a-9a32-45a04806b83d/upgrade/from/188.8.131.52/to/184.108.40.206.zip…

What´s the reason for this?
It was an issue in the api itself, from the build, and has been fixed. You may attempt to download again.
As well, for all Striking users reading this comment, the Striking Support Forum is the place to get answers, and we have been responding to users real time on it. Quite frankly, we forget even to come here, until I remembered some users seem to be hardheaded about taking advantage of our free support at the forum, and ignoring the faq above!
This issue was resolved several hours ago, and noted real time, in the release thread.
Should anyone have any issues regarding the release, irrespective of their nature, follow us at the forum, lambast us at the forum (although the release has been progressing remarkably well in general given that it has a huge amount of code updates) and hopefully, even find one’s way to be nice to us at the forum…...
Patrick, and all others who were affected by this, our apologies for the inconvenience.
