Hello,

I’m unable to create an support account as I’m not the original account to purchase the theme (dev inheriting a project). I’m looking to make a small change by having 12 items on the portfolio instead of 8. Any chance you could help me out?

If you work on customer site, they have themeforest purchase id, so you can get id from them – it is part of TF account in downloads section. Then use that purchase id to register at forum. Simple!

We look for post over at forum after register.

Guys, congratulations on the theme.

I am using Striking as my main theme for almost a year and I am absolutely happy with it. I’ve already tried several other themes and I’ve never found a theme as powerful as Striking. Besides, the support is amazing. I had great experiences with your kind help and solutions.

I upgraded to the most recent version of the theme today and the shortcode generator is missing from my content editor. Is there something I need to do to turn this on?

Please go to Striking support forum – link in FAQ tab above, and we assist you. This normally happen with plugin conflict – many plugins use old jquery, and cause problem with tinymce. Support team member help you.

Are you planning on rolling out a responsive update soon? B/c I LOVE LOVE LOVE this template and here I am trying out a few new ones because mobile is needed in a new site we’re making… and I just can’t find anythign that works as well as Striking…

Please go to Striking Support Forum ->link in FAQ tab above, and follow stick thread on responsive Striking updates. We to give beta version for testing to all registered users on Saturday (if all go well) Feb 2. Forum will have link to place to obtain.

Striking Responsive have many nice features, all old Striking features manage to carry into responsive (very difficult and lots of work given power of existing Striking) + of course Striking always give some new as well. It very, very powerful theme – hopes you enjoy.

I bought this theme quite some time ago – version 3.0.2. My host advised that this theme has had safety issues and hence may have been the cause.

Why are updates not notified? (like others theme do advise) If they are outside the usual Wordpress dashboard, pls let us all know, so we keep our theme up to date.

Great theme … that’s the whole point to stick with it :)

Themeforest not have ability to confirm purchase code back when that version release – it did not have api interface. This ability much more recent for Themeforest. Striking introduce such ability in first 5 series year ago approx when Themeforest make confirmation api available.

Since then have internal update ability, and this way work well since introduction.

You probably have timthumb script security issue,correct. Since mid last yr Striking user no longer use timthumb.

May I ask what the ‘breadcrumbs parent page’ option does in the admin side of things?

Thank you for thoughts about Striking.

The breadcrumb parent page option is setting on the portfolio panel allowing layering of breadcrumbs for portfolio items.

Its an advance feature for visual sites such as photography sites that have in depth portfolio layering.

The gallery.php file under shortcodes is getting flagged as containing possible malware when I run scans through Wordfence because of a bad url in the file. Apparently that website is being flagged as possibly containing malware. Will this “Thank” to the site and url be removed soon? My site was hacked in November and it took me a month and a half to have Bing stop flagging me. I don’t what this to cause another similar problem and site interruption for me.

Yes, we see that poor Justin has “potentially” had his site hacked, and it showing up on the google advisory. But this will not cause a problem for you as this file is a 644 permission – no one has access to it and it is not an active link on a public page. But if you feel strongly about the matter, you can remove the line of code yourself, without doing any harm to the file. Just delete the line.

I think we will advise him of the matter, which is yet to actually be determined as definitive. We may remove the line at least temporarily, but quite frankly, wordfence throws 50% false positives at the best of times. Its job is to bring matters to attention, but it does not know whether they are actually an issue. This is not, but certainly anyone who is uncomfortable can remove it, and if we determine it is, we will remove it as well.

As per our support guidelines noted in the FAQ tab above, we ask that all users post on our Support forum for assistance.

In your case, you have an incompatible WP 3.5 plugin running that is breaking the normal scripting.

You should disable your plugins initially so that you get back to the root installation of Striking and WP. Confirm that everything is fine, and then activate plugins one by one to determine the culprit.

Please post on the support forum for any further discussion on this matter.

The themeforest comment thread is for questions from potential purchasers about Striking, not for Striking support questions.

Hi—been trying to update a copy of Striking I purchased for a site back toward the beginning of 2012. The update to 5.1.7.1 went fine using the purchase code, but when I try to update to the current version 5.1.9.6, the update fails and tells me to input the purchase code. Tried this a couple of times, even tried to get a new purchase code via themeforest, but it looks like the same purchase code I downloaded previously. This is a production site and the client won’t be happy if the site is down too long.

Everyone who posts questions here should take a minute and READ. This is not the place to ask questions for support for the theme. The GUYS are FABULOUS with their support and assistance, you just have to go to the right place…their support forum.

LOVE the STRIKING THEME! There is so much that can be done with it as it can be overwhelming, but James and Paul are real troopers and come through for me EVERY TIME! I am not a programmer so I appreciate all the lessons they have taught me.

Thank you for your kind words and pointed observation. It is a mystery to us as to why users persist in posting here when we have in the main item description, the FAQ tab above, and numerous replies here, the same message -> use the support forum for assistance!

Poor KaptlinLin is feeling left out in your thanks! LOL. I am going to go tease him now!! :) He is the chief core architect and even if he does get a “little” assistance now Striking is still his original baby and he loves it dearly.

Striking has more depth in respect of settings, features, layering and depth then is typical even in a premium theme, that is why we are classed as “heavy duty”, and perhaps what could be construed as an issue is that users have a a whole world of possibilities that they did not originally contemplate when first contemplating building a website. One has to sit back for a moment, and contemplate the landscape, and take the moment or two necessary to review the features, prior to commencing.

With the forthcoming switch to Striking Responsive, we will also help matters by supplying a set of video tutorials, which I think will assist users greatly in taking advantage of the extra features Striking provides.

Could you please tell me what compatibility with IDX plug ins Striking has? I really like what I see here, I just need to confirm that Striking has the capacity to work a real estate search feature using an IDX or MLS feed plug in. Thank you!

I can tell you that in the past, the idx plugin worked with Striking – but you have to add aline or two of code into the Striking Header in order for it to work, with wordpress. I helped a user fix this matter, but I will advise it was some months ago.

IDX has a header and footer synchronization script that has to be into the Striking header and footer php files (if my memory serves correct on what i did).

In the broker support area they have a codex on what is necessary for wordpress handling.

This is what I can advise at this time.

How would you go about keeping this theme updated after heavily customizing it? My developer tells me it can’t be done

HUH!! If one customizes the theme properly, and we supply all the tools for doing such – custom css field, custom js field, adding any php changes to the functions.php file at the bottom where we have made a section for custom code, or using the supplied child theme, one can keep updating endlessly. It states right in the help for the custom css and js fields that the info placed into them is stored in the database and is not touched by updates. Child themes work differently but accomplish the same thing. If you add to the functions.php file you would copy out, and copy back in, as part of the update process.

I think you should post your question on the forum, and we will provide you further assistance. Perhaps your designer has limited experience with wordpress?

Your developer is entirely incorrect. LOL. If that were the case our users who have been with us for almost 3 yrs and over 50 updates would have been in a great deal of trouble!! Just review some of the testimonials for other designers, and users, it it should be blatantly obvious that one can obviously update customized sites….....

All of a sudden I can’t seem to open my widget menus.

Any idea of why this could be?

I’ve tried updating to the latest version of Wordpress and have also tried on different browsers but nothing happens when I click them.

That is quite odd. I have to think you are having a plugin issue – a plugin not being compatible with WP 3.5 (which most are not btw). This is a great theme with regular updates and excellent support. Many themes ride the initial wave and then become pretty much unsupported. The developer has moved on to their newer themes. But this one just keeps improving and getting better!

It’s my 3 of 4th site with Striking. A superb theme, powerful and very easy to configure in depth, because the support is very fast and efficient!

The best is that a site based on Striking not look like all other sites based on WP.

Hmmmm…... We have no help whatsoever for users, really none whatsoever!! All the comments above about our great help, the FAQ tab telling where to go for help, the item description which has a button link to the support forum, just dastardly lies! :)

I think I have given enough hints, and when you get to the Striking support forum, go to All Discussions category, and you will see a number of sticky threads. Go to the thread for Striking Release ver 5.1.9.6 and review the instructions for installing the theme, and click on the video link contained within the thread on how to install the theme.

My guess ->you have tried to upload the whole zip you downloaded from Themeforest. This is incorrect.
