Just a repeat Q, do you know if Layerslider or Cuteslider works fine with this theme? I’d like to use a nice HTML5 slider instead of the flash slider or basic sliders included, which do not have much in the way of transition options.

kaptinlin

Hi

The layered slider will work with some custom modification. Both the sliders noted are full width sliders, and Striking regular is a fixed framework theme, so you have to do a little custom css in order to make work properly.

Be advised that the forthcoming Striking Responsive version which will be replacing Striking regular here at themeforest (it will be an update so all existing users get for free) has the Revolution slider in it, which has many excellent transitions as part of its abilities. The beta of it is already in release to our existing users, and some have already swapped out their old site for the responsive version. One has to be a Striking owner in order to access the beta.

You can read the threads at our support forum, just not post. The link to the forum is found in the FAQ tab above.

Hi! Really, really nice theme! I’ve been considering purchasing it for a while now, but I have a couple of questions before I decide whether to purchase it or not.

1. Will you at some point be making this theme retina ready?

2. Is it possible to add different textured backgrounds to each section of the theme (header, footer, main body)?

3. Is it also possible to layer a textured background behind a transparent gradient within the slider & footer sections?

4. Is it also possible & easy enough to add in a custom divider?

Thanks so much! Again, excellent theme! Well done.

kaptinlin

Hi rjDezigns:

Thank you for your thoughts. You have not seen anything yet – we have a lot in the pipeline.

1) On retina, we are of two minds. we know it is popular with the apple kiddies, but retina imposes a big burden on loading, so we are still debating internally.
2) yes
3) yes
4) are you meaning to add as a new shortcode, or to place an image into a page? We have an advanced divider line shortcode now, which does not show in any of the existing demo (the online demo is way behind in features btw), which allows for the line color, thickness and width to be adjusted. Otherwise, if people wish a particular image, they just load it up via an image shortcode into their content.

As you are a designer, if you have any further questions, we can make contact privately – email us at support @ strikingsupport . com (spaces are to avoid harvesting) and include your skype id and timezone, and I will contact you.

Hello

Thinking in getting this theme but what i would like to know is

1 can the home page slider be changed to a still banner?

2 can i put a banner in the head off all other pages?

3 how hard would it to to add videos to some off the pages?

Thanks

kaptinlin

Hi shanekk

Thank you for your interest.

1. yes, of course. you can have anything you want, text, video, image, swf, or combination in the feature header area. You are not restricted to a slider. LOL, that is only the simple “premium” themes that have such restrictions.

2. yes

2. Of course. We have a whole array of video shortcodes, allowing a video to be anywhere, content, sidebar, footer, feature header, etc. Its a shortcode, and allows for youtube, vimeo, flash, html5, blip, dailymotion, so you are well covered.

kaptinlin

Hi shanekk

As you may be able to gather from the many of the other comments above and on prior pages, Striking is converting to responsive very shortly, and it will be an update of Striking, so this means it is free for existing users.

We already have a very advanced beta which is in release to existing license holders, and some users have already converted to the responsive version.

All the details are on our support forum, which you can peruse free. The link to the forum is found in the FAQ tab above.

Hello, thanks for the great work! Just one question: how do I add a new specific google webfont which is not on the list, or to update an existing one, without modifiying the template files?

Thankyou in advance :)

p.s: I might have found out another problem, as I’d like latin extended + cyrillic extended sets to be loaded, but they don’t seem to be…

for instance, fonts like “š?ž??” are showing up in the browser’s standard font. Example in the title here: http://www.triestelibera.org/2013/03/hello-world/

kaptinlin

Hi

It depends on the font as to whether we included the extended sets natively or or not. Please post any questions you have about usage of google fonts at our support forum per the instructions in the FAQ tab above. I believe we have a “How-To” on adding google fonts in the forum threads.

Hi Kaptinlin -

I’ve been updating a Striking site with the beta of the Striking Responsive theme and I have to tell say, you have outdone yourself. It is ‘frikin’ amazing.

I’ve been using your Striking theme since late 2010 and you have continually updated it with one function after another ( without having to buy a new theme )

This responsive update is outstanding, not just from the selection of responsive sliders, but with the all the ability to fine tune a site.

A couple I will mention – being able to put custom CSS and javascripts on a page / post basis outstanding.

A built in customizable landing page.

The other one that blew me away is the ability to have a full width frame work or boxed framework site wide BUT be able to make the blog side either one. You can really differentiate those two areas of your site – and the ability to have different background images on each page.

The shortcodes again just rock as you can embedded them mulitple deep – an example is that it is so easy to have a button shortcode trigger a lightbox shortcode with an shortcode that embeds a video or a form like gravity forms. The lightbox will allow for resizing either images, inline content ( for fast display ) or iframes.

For the developers, your theme generator makes it super easy to make site wide modification with only having to modify one file so updates are a breeze.

I am sounding like a fan boy here. But, really, really great work. You have totally outdid yourself

kaptinlin

Hi burt,
Really appreciated your comment. As a developer, it’s very enjoyable to know that my code make your guys happy. That drive me continue working on it. In last year, a lot striking users asking me about responsive version of striking. It’s not a easy work as striking have lots existing functions. But i know it’s worth to do it. And finally it’s about to come out. Really thanks for your prompt feedbacks and your contributes to the striking community.

I have an important suggestion!

I use a lot of the custom css, no chance to improve that section? it is much bigger for example, to make it more comfortable layout. like the custom js.

Thank you!

Hello,

I am having an issue with the theme, when I try upload a photo for the logo, I get a message… “Cheatin’ uh?”

I have made sure I changed the cache folder to 777, disabled the plugins… any ideas?

Thank you and happy sunday. R

kaptinlin

Hi riaverdiere

That is usually an error found when one has mismatched versions of Striking and WP. If you are still experiencing this error, I ask that you post a new thread at our Striking support forum per the instructions found in the FAQ tab above, and one of the Striking Team will assist you. Include info on the WP and Striking versions you have in place, and if you know it, the php version your host is running.

Hello,

I’d like to purchase the item but still have one question: will you include an option in the responsive version to keep the layout ‘static’ or is this something I have to do myself by setting the page width to a fixed value in a child theme?

Kind regards Laurens

Hello James,

thank you for the reply. The fact that alot of people are very happy with the theme and the fact that there is a hell of a support team supporting it, is enough for me to go for it! Will buy it tonight when I’m at home!

Thank you for a great theme!

I have now updated Striking and now, when in WP-dashboard, I want to save a new blogentry, or even just change existing entry, I press “publish” and my cursorer always land far down, on “SlideShow Source[+] more info”

So annoying! What can I/you do about it?

kaptinlin

Hi pianyberg

To diagnose this properly, we will need you to go over to the Striking Support forum (per the instructions in the FAQ tab above) and make a post, and include your url and both the striking and wp versions you have installed at this time.

I think you have either a not fully installed update of one of Striking or WP, or a plugin conflict. Are all the plugins you have in use WP 3.51 compatible? Try turning them off (you can leave on askimet and WP SEO) to see what happens. Advise the result in your post at the support forum.

Hi

Please see my answer above. But since you posted a url, I did surf over to your site, and you do have some plugin issues – the Sharethis plugin is throwing off a js error and I believe there are some other plugin related js matters as well.

We will provide more assistance over at the forum.

BTW – I love your header on the site. I have not seen that before.

Great theme and, for me very important, even better support! Normally you get a quick reply.

Im using this theme with Woocommerce and I’ve tried WP e-commerce. But the combination woocommerce & striking is very good, I can recommend this.

Hi Xavier:

Thank you for purchasing Striking.

Please go to our support forum and request assistance on this matter. Also indicate the version of Striking and WP you are using. The support forum link is found in the FAQ tab above.

Also indicate whether you are having this issue in the blog list, or an archive.

To the best of our knowledge the feature is working fine. I am wondering if some recent “fiddling” on our part in one of the updates by accident disabled this feature. If so, it is very easily corrected. I just did a very quick test the latest Striking Responsive Beta (its what i am working on at this moment) and it worked fine.
