your theme is indeed one of the best in terms of costumizability but, in my opinion, is falling apart desing wise, looking a little bit old.
Is the new responsive version going to revamp the look of the theme making it more 2013?
Thanks in advance,
The responsive version is already out in beta form for our user base, you just need to be visiting the forum to obtain access to it.
We released a new beta of the responsive version yesterday, and you can go here to see a brief preview video of some of the newest features added:
Striking has been totally overhauled and updated to the latest standards in the Responsive version, and has hundreds of new features, with 4 new sliders including the Revolution and Ken Burns sliders. The reaction from users has been fantastic, and yet the new theme has been written so that one can actually update their existing site without losing all their prior work, a flaw of every other theme that has attempted to change frameworks.
You will love all the new features, flexibility and call to actions in the responsive update. And it is an update, so it is FREE for existing users.
Very nice theme
That is very kind of you to say. Kaptinlin and the support team are hard at work on the responsive update. You can see a preview of it at the link I provided in the comment above to Daniel Roca
Just a heads up to anyone else reading. I bought this theme a few days ago, and it is amazing. The new responsive theme is available to download also which was an extra treat. The support that these guys give is amazing, I’m very happy with it and if anyone out there is a beginner or DIY’er you can’t go wrong with this theme.
You wont be disappointed.
I just bought this theme and when i try to upload the .zip fil into wordpress 3.5.1 i get this error,
“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.”
If you go to the Support tab above, you will see that there is a note in the tab “Common Wordpress Installation Issues” that comes from Themeforest itself (right below the green box indicating that we provide support at our forum, not here), about how to install the themes properly, and links on help for this. Your problem is not theme related.
Likely, you did not unpack the the zip you downloaded from themeforest, but rather tried to upload the whole thing using the wordpress Install Themes function. The links themeforest provides will get you on the right track.
Should you still have issue afterwords, then please follow our guidelines for registering at our support forum, where, as thousands of user can attest, we will support our theme and any usage questions you have.
Please do post back that you resolved your installation matter after following the Themeforest guidance, or post at the forum and we will assist you.
Is it possible to put the menu above the header/logo?
The theme native function is for the menu to appear where you see it.
A quick modification to the header file in Striking would allow it to be moved, although you might have to do a touch of custom css. Striking also has a header top widget area, and one could build a menu via url links, or use the custom menu widget in the header, as examples of alternatives.
As well, one can use the Ubermenu plugin in Striking.
Thank you for your inquiry into Striking. You might want to visit this site:
to check out the responsive version of Striking, and you can watch a video just posted about some recent changes to the latest beta of the forthcoming update of Striking.
Great Stuff! We love it!
Where can I download the demo content for the site setup you show? I dont see it anywhere on the support forum or your download area?
In the Themeforest package you downloaded, once you unpack it, one of the folders is “demo” and in it you will find the xml package, and the txt file containing the Striking options, which you copy and paste into the Advanced Panel/Import & Export/Import field. The xml file of course you use the wordpress importer plugin to import.
For Striking Responsive, which is in beta form, there is no demo package yet, although at the time of release we will have a new demo for it.
Should you have any other questions, please go to the striking support forum, as per our policy noted in the Support Tab above (which it appears that despite all of Themeforest’s recent work on this feature users seem determined to ignore, despite the fact service is much more frequent at the forum).
Just updated the Theme – and can not figure out how to ELIMINATE the “title” bars that appear above and below the Title of the Page…and also above and below the homepage Banner.
I thought there was a simple option….
I am not sure what you mean by the “title” bars. In the Striking General panel/Header Settings are settings for turning off the tagline, and the site title is easily deleted by going to WP General settings and emptying the field for the site title.
it also sounds like you are asking how to turn off the breadcrumbs, and that is found in the Striking General Panel/Page Layout tab settings.
We don’t provide theme support here. As per our policy very clearly stated in both the Support tab above, and in the Item Description, the place for support is our forum.
Should you have any further questions about the matter, please register and post a new thread at our support forum. You can also upload screenshots (which you can mark up using photoshop, microsoft paint, etc) to your thread.
Most likely there is a setting, but as I am not quite sure what you mean, I hope the above got you on your way, and we of course will gladly assist you further at the forum.
on what date does the striking responsive? please! =)
I think I answered your question before on the prior page. I am not quite sure why you keep on posting here when you can, and should be at the forum posting in the dedicated responsive thread, where this question and many others about responsive are answered.
It contains answers to all questions, and is updated frequently. And later today it will have more info for you.
Thanks, passes can not get used to the forum, but there between and read it seems that the launch is near, just say that it will be a Sunday. : S, I’m very ancioso!
I’m considering purchasing Striking but I’d like to modify the heading so that it has a metalic background look to it. Is this something that I can do with your template?
Also if I purchase it and it doesn’t do what I want it to, can I return it / get a refund? (I’d rather know for sure that it works and save us both time and aggravation
Thank you for your interest in Striking.
Striking has a dedicated background loading function for the header area, if this is what you are seeking.
I cannot speak for Themeforest, who are the licensing party (it is not us but TF who controls all aspects of distribution). But our general knowledge is that once software has been downloaded, no refunds are obtainable.
In any case, if you purchase a license, you would not install Striking Regular 188.8.131.52. Rather, what you would do is go to the support forum, register, and follow the instructions to downloading Striking Responsive. A new beta of the responsive version is being released today, likely the last before it is officially released. It is incredibly powerful and flexible, even when compared to Striking regular. It is free for all owners.
If you go to this link:
You can watch a video where I was explaining some new features added to the last beta released on June 8. It will give you a little flavour of what it is like.
We have another beta to be released today, so there will be another video in a few hours.
Striking is the highest rated theme of the top selling wp themes at themeforest (we keep an eye generally on the top 40 which is over 5000 in sales) by a significant margin. The reason for that is the theme abilities. Its extremely rare for a user to not be satisfied with the theme. It has a degree of flexibility that you likely will not have encountered before, and we are extremely dedicated to product support, and community support. I am not saying we are perfect (we have blown out our deadline for releasing Striking Responsive “officially” by a wide margin for example, although the final product does justify the delays…) but we are always working on the product, always updating, always assisting, always resolving.
Striking dates to 2010 in origination. But it is still compatible with the current versions of WP (its WP 3.6 compatible in fact) and all desktop browsers. The number of themes from 2010 that are still compatible I could probably count on one hand. That should tell you something.
This is a first rate Theme. As a developer, Striking is among the best I have ever worked with. Their support is incredible: very punctual and indepth solutions. If you are looking for a robust theme, I fully recommend Striking.
I just upgraded to theme version 184.108.40.206 at ultracustomgroup.com which created two issues. The first is the accordion slider does not react to the user in Chrome. It works fine in IE9 or FireFox. The second problem is the menu seems to be spread out further. We had to remove the home page menu item so it would not cover the logo area which occurs in all browsers. Please tell me how to correct.
Thanks in Advance,
I cleared the Chrome cache and the slider is working now.
Its always the chrome cache. We have countless threads on the forum about “something does not work” and it is practically one of the first things we ask – is it Chrome?
Should you have any other questions we ask that you follow the support guidelines and post at our Support Forum.
Just to say I have been extremely impressed by the support at the Kaptinlin forum. I’m a complete novice where Word Press is concerned, but when I faced an issue yesterday, James replied very quickly and clearly, even spotting issues with my site I hadn’t noticed.
By following his advice I was soon adding custom CSS and making the changes I wanted remarkably quickly. Much of this is due to the wealth of information already available in the Kaptinlin Support forum. If you are stuck with anything to do with Striking, its worth trying to Google search ‘Kaptinlin Support XXXXXXXXXXXX’ (where XXXX is your issue) – with so many people already using the theme and the excellent support they clearly receive, it’s amazing what you’ll find!
Thanks to all for the help, it’s very much appreciated… cheers!
Can you tell me how to remove the page titles and / or put something else there?
If you are referring to the page titles that appear at the top of the url window, this is typically done using an SEO plugin such as WP SEO or All in One SEO, both of which we recommend. Striking does have some automatic support for WP SEO in our new responsive version.
Should you have any other questions we request, per the guidelines we have published in the Support tab, that you use our support forum for help.
I am using the new Striking responsive beta and have done numerous sites with it. It is outstanding! But even more outstanding is the SUPER CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND SERVICE!! 5 STARS+
Just because a theme looks great doesn’t mean it will work the same way so customer support is critical. These guys provide the best!
Am I missing something but I cannot find my license purchase code it is not in the position you have specified in your documentation!!!!
I just want to register for on your support site
Themeforest very recently changed where you obtain your license certificate. If you go to the Support Tab above, click on it, you will go to an FAQ, and one of the topics on support guides you where to obtain the certificate:
””All one needs for registration is the License Purchase Code which you can obtain by downloading your “license certificate”. Go to your download panel in your account and look for the Striking Icon. You will see a “Download” button to the right of it. Click on this button and a dropdown will appear. One of the items in the dropdown list is the License Certificate and after clicking on it a download of the file will commence. Once you have downloaded your certificate (a simple text document) please open it up and your purchase code is found about 4-5 lines from the top.”“
I will monitor this page today so i can get confirmation that you found it. Of course, if I see you pop up on the forum then it is a moot point! LOL
Cheers James, I did everything apart from click the download link lol
Thanks i can now register onto the forum all being well excellent theme too!
Do you have any plans to add an icon set such as Vector Icons for WordPress in 5.2?
Not in Striking 5.2 I do not think. But in Striking Responsive yes, it is being added as we speak, one of the very last actions prior to the official release.
I am surprised you have not upgraded to the Responsive Beta. Did you need them in Striking regular for some reason?
I am interested in your template, but I have two questions:
1) Is the responsive version of the template available for users that purchase striking premium?
2) I was reading that it is very easy to add slideshows under the general options for pages and posts. Is this also available for portfolio posts? I would like to be able to add a slideshow for some of my portfolio posts.
1 – Yes it is a free update for any existing owner. It has been undergoing Beta testing by our user base although at this time now it appears about 10% of our users have actually switched to it, which is a considerable number. We have not formally released it yet only as we wanted to have it as error free as possible, and Striking Responsive contains a huge number of new features. If Striking Regular 220.127.116.11 is the baseline at 100%, Striking Responsive it 250% in comparison.
2) In Striking Responsive, you can use 4 of the 5 sliders to show both Blog and Portfolio posts. In fact any of those 4 slideshow types can have images, blog and portfolio posts all in the same slideshow! We have 5 slider types in Striking Responsive. The only one that cannot have blog or portfolio posts is the Revolution Slider, since it does not do Custom Post Types.
3) We also just added to Striking Responsive a new Easy Slideshow Creator, although this tool is for image slideshows only. I will have a video of it over at the beta site likely tomorrow afternoon.
I have a client that wants to create a Portfolio page and with each portfolio post they want to embed a slideshow. Is the Easy Slideshow creator available in portfolio posts? Thanks for the clarification.
Well embedding a slideshow is easy enough, they can either have the slideshow in the feature header, or use one of the sliders available by shortcode (3 are shortcoded) and put the slideshow into the post body.
The Easy Slideshow Creator is independent of the portfolio post. What i mean by that is that one would create a slideshow, and then as that slideshow has an “id” assigned to it (although you normally would see just the name such as “halo images”), and then our admin allows you to grab that name/id and display it where ever you please – page or any type of post.
This is all done by setting and toggles in the Striking Admin. And it is super easy to do.
I did not yet get around to making the new video for the Easy Slideshow Creator (as we worked on other matters over the last day), but I am going to do such Wed.
BTW, just for clarification. Everything that I am referring to is in Striking Responsive. Striking Regular 18.104.22.168 does not have features such as the Easy Slideshow Creator as it is being replaced by Striking Responsive. That is a free update.
Slideshows will not work on my homepage. As an “anything slideshow” it simply displays the first image, and the “Nivo slideshow” never loads at all. I have no idea what’s wrong. Please help. Thank you!
BTW, I love the look of your side.
I request you register at our support forum per our support policy clearly indicated in the Support tab above, and cross post your issue to it. One of the support team will contact you requesting your logins and your skype id, and contact you to assist you.
