Also, the google map shortcode no longer works; not sure why. I updated wordpress the other day – perhaps that did it.
No, that would not be it. The shortcode is working fine for all our other users. When you post on the forum and one of the support staff contacts you, they will have a look at your setup to determine the causes of your matters. But I did go to your contact page and I see a js error, which is caused by a plugin conflict, and my guess might be Jetpack.
We will see you, and fully assist you, at our support forum.
Also, on the prior site, the blog feature images no longer show up. I did not alter those settings or change any code.
Something seems to have become universally wrong with the nivo functions
(For some reason it wouldn’t let me reply directly to your comment)
My apologies for wasting your time on here, James! I just signed up and posted in the Support forum. Thanks again for your help, and for the compliment!!!
And all should know that the issues this user had were (to the best of my knowledge) all resolved, and due to an external js function they were using in Striking. But we have had direct contact with video586 and I believe they are happily working away at their site.
Yes, the team was very helpful in helping me resolve the issue. A+
This is such a wonderfull theme plus (and that’s a big plus!) all the help you’ll get when you purchase this theme. Wonderfull. The best ever!!! Can I give more than 5 stars?
I have a proble wuth the porfolio gallery. When I chose on of the filters I can’t see the pictures whiy they are loading all the time
I think you have an error in how you have set up your portfolio shortcode. You also have a huge number of portfolio images loading on one page, and I would suggest that you have different portfolios assigned to different pages.
But in order to assist you further, please follow our support guidelines as noted in the Support Tab above.
I think it was a problem with plugins in the cache.
Now I have a problem with the logo. When I try to upload a logo says “Cheatin ‘uh?”
Please go to our support forum. We have a sticky thread on the Wordpress “Cheatin” message and how to deal with it, and of course, should you need further assistance you may request assistance.
How can I remove the logo area completely? I want to make the header background the main header image. I have no logo inserted but it has the logo text.
Please go to our support forum, register and post, and we will assist you with any usage questions you may have, per our Support Policy outlined in the Support Tab above.
Please, can we have a REALISTIC official release date?
It’s been months of delays, literally. It was supposed to be a matter of days… that was weeks ago!
Much respect for your work and I understand you don’t want to release until it’s good enough but… I’ve been holding back a large project because of this. If it’s gonna be a month or two still, I’d like to know.
We apologize. In our support forum we have laid out some of the challenges we faced as time progressed to port successfully all the current Striking abilities – famous for its flexibility and customization ability, and as we have progressed, we have in the end added a huge array of new features, many to overcome the difficulties responsive frameworks incur on utilization of advanced abilities in combination, and for customization. As you may be aware, many of the responsive themes have a terrible time with plugin compatibility, and we have also gone to great lengths to ensure compatibility with all the more popular plugins for ecommerce, SEO, forms, and more.
We have declared for the last 5 betas (since Early April) that owners could use it in production sites, and in fact several hundred sites are now running Striking Responsive Beta, and at this time we cannot see any reason why one would refrain from using it for a new site.
If you have been following the tracking at our support forum you would be aware that we have reduced the bugs to a handful of esoteric bugs that do not affect 99% of usage , and that we have commenced work on the ancillary items necessary for release such as a new TF demo, installable demo, new support forum and updating of help dialogues and help videos. This means we are very close. We are at the “polishing the paint and applying the decals” stage.
We released a new beta today, and I anticipate 1 more somewhere in the Sunday-Tuesday range (allowing time for feedback from today’s release) and then official release here at Themeforest in place of the current Striking non-responsive theme.
Thanks for your answer James,
I’m sure the wait will be worth it!
I just hope you take some time to update the look and feel of the theme; the demo is starting to look a little out of our time.
This sales page, and the demo content are being completely revised. And there will be many videos as well. Yes, the demo content does not at all reflect even the current abilities of Striking Regular, let alone have even a remote resemblance to Striking Responsive. We intend to post some “sneak peaks” of Striking R shortly here at TF.
In any case, as you are a license holder, surf over and download the Responsive beta, and start playing with it. We have yet to load the fluff stuff like the Call To Actions, but otherwise it is good to go.
Will the theme be responsive in a next update ?
Yes it will. Striking 5.2 may receive a “little” update prior to the switch of the non-responsive for the responsive to take care of any errors found, but the next significant update will be the responsive version of Striking.
However, why even bother waiting? As a license holder, you can download it from our beta site and start using it now. Hundreds of license holders have already swapped up to the responsive version – just go to the support forum, where you should be asking these types of questions in any case, and follow the instructions in the responsive beta sticky thread.
hey man, I need help setting up few stuff
tried to register to your support forum but it dose not allow me because I couldn’t find the licensee code (and its not like the image on your website)
Hi, see my reply below
I never heard about a company that dose not have phone or email to support her clients, your support forum needs a licensee number witch dose not exist on this website, so that means no support for me!?
Actually, we are likely the one of only 2 or 3 theme developers anywhere in the world who actually does provide live voice support to their customers. I have personally spoken to some 3000 of our users over time. Themeforest itself has absolutely no requirements whatsoever for support, and 95% of the themes on themeforest have no dedicated support other then these comment threads.
But if you read even say the last 5 pages of comments here, you would realize this is not the case for a Striking purchaser. We are reknown for our support. And we will support you as well!
The picture at our demo is out of date as Themeforest changed where they have the license about 2-3 weeks ago. I confess in fact we had forgotten about that picture, it was posted over 2 years ago!
Up at the top of this page there are some tabs underneath where it says the theme name “STRIKING PREMIUM….” -> Did you notice that one of them says “Support”? The 3rd item in the FAQ section of that Support tab contains a complete updated description on how to find your license key:
Go to your download panel in your account and look for the Striking Icon. You will see a “Download” button to the right of it. Click on this button and a dropdown will appear. One of the items in the dropdown list is the License Certificate and after clicking on it a download of the file will commence. Once you have downloaded your certificate (a simple text document) please open it up and your purchase code is found about 4-5 lines from the top.
Registration at our support forum requires your purchase code, an email address and your choosing a username. Its that simple! Please use the same username as you use here at Themeforest. We do not spam, nor do we sell this information to any third parties.
So there are the updated instructions, and if you follow them step by step you will obtain all you need, and be able to register at the forum immediately.
James thanks so much for the quick response forgive me if I was harsh I was just frustrated was looking to edit my website but im on the -2 GMT so was working until 4am
For the information of all be advised we have helped this user overcome their issues, which were simply a complete lack of knowledge about pretty much anything wp and web related. They are now in the process of building a nice portfolio oriented website for their professional photography business.
I WANT TO THANK THE STRIKING TEAM, I GOT A FAST RESPONS, PROFESSIONAL HELP, AND MANAGED TO SETUP A KILLING THEME WITH THE SUPPORT FORUM OF STRIKING,
SORRY IF I WROTE OTHERWISE I WAS TIERED AND LITTLE BIT CONFUSED AS MY KNOWLOEDGE IN WORDPRESS IS MINIMAL,
BUT AFTER FEW TOTURIALS I MADE A STRIKING WEBSITE, AGAIN THANKS ALOT!
I CAME BACK TO THIS WEBSITE JUST TO SHOW THE RESPECT FOR ALL THE PROFESSIONAL HELP I GOT FROM STRIKING
I want to update your theme to its new version, but I cant find out where is the “Item Purchase Code”...
Also if I update it, I wont have to redo all the theme settings?
The place where Envato is hiding the license certificate which contains the item purchase code seems to really be causing some grief for marketplace purchasers. I think we need everyone to start writing to them about this matter as we now have this question several times just on this page.
Please read my response to “canon_sir” immediately above your question, as it gives detailed instructions on how to download your License Certificate which contains your Item Purchase Code.
Sorry you are having this trouble, but it is not of our making.
BTW, if you are updating from Striking 126.96.36.199 to Striking 5.2 of course you would not have to redo your settings. One can update from any version of Striking from ver 1.0 all the way to 5.2, and the settings and other matters are all unaffected. But, there are some things one would change, and if you are jumping from a version older then 5.1.8 you should create a post on the forum so we can give you some pointers.
Hello, Bought this theme as a user and not really a programer. Can’t get it to work at all..also I can’t get past your Security Check part to join the help forum. Wasted quite a few hours at this and got nowhere at all. When I try and activate the theme it just goes to a “can’t display web page” and can’t do a thing. Have to go into FTP and chance the name of the striking theme folder to get the site back to the default WP theme.
No programming knowledge whatsoever is required to use the theme. Not even a little wee tiny, infinitesimally small amount! If you can’t get it to display, that means you have not installed it correctly. That has nothing to do with the theme, and everything to do with understanding wp and how to use it. Even your final sentence about going into ftp tells me that you are completely off the map on matters.
But, we of course, will get you on track. The first thing is to register at the forum. Themeforest for whatever reason has very recently changed how to locate the necessary info for forum registration. Its an anti-piracy measure and it is created by ThemeForest, and if you have a problem with it, you should speak with them.
I am not sure why no one is taking the time to read the Support tab above, specifically created by ThemeForest so that users can find the information they need. I posted in the two immediate posts above this where one finds their license certificate, and in the certificate a few lines down is the code you need. The commenter “Cannon_Sir” two comments above followed the written instructions, and once he did, he registered on the forum, and posted his first customization question already (he wants to customize a feature beyond the default settings, so is not a usage question he has).
I am also going to refer you to this package of videos, which will teach you how to install a theme, and how to use some basic functions in Striking. The videos are a little older, and the admin panel has been updated in its look since they were made, but the install videos are still perfectly applicable, as is the one on how to create slides, etc:
Striking Videos download package
Once you have succeeded in registering at the forum, we will go to the extent of even doing your install for you if you do not do it right, and actually contact you on skype and have a voice call if necessary. No other theme developer provides live support like that.
If for whatever reason you cannot follow written instructions, then please send an email with your skype id to support @ strikingsupport . com (remove the spaces -> i put in the spaces to deter spam bots) and I will contact you by skype and assist you.
Be advised it is Sunday, and we don’t provide the same level of support today as we do on any other day. But I may do some work tonight after my children are in bed, and if I see something from you here or email or at the forum I will respond.
Hello, Yes I know where the forum is.I tell you what you registair for me and send the details to me…bet you can’t. Anyway if you read it correct as you can’t Like I can’t read your instructions either.
Support is no good if you cannot registair at http://kaptinlin.com/support/entry/register cannot get past the CAPTCHA part to registair Is that a probleme for me??
I guess it is!
Ok, first. Did you go to the Download section of your themeforest account and download your license certificate? Please tell me if you succeeded in this step. I just created an image of where one would go in one’s Themeforest account to find the certificate and here is the link:
I do not know why you cannot get past the captcha, it has never been a problem for 15,000 other users. But lets take this step by step, first with confirmation that you have the certificate and have located your purchase code within it.
Can you advise where you are in the world and your timezone? Do you have skype (which is free) so that I might call you?
Got that. I had this theme working when I first down loaded it a few days ago It is when I downloaded the update and uploaded that and the theme has never worked again. I have reinstalled wp many times have gone throug the instalation instructions many times have uploaded the theme many times and still get an error and a blank page. and I don’t use skype. Also I have tried to set up an account to the forum using my laptop, my desktop, my works desk top, my ipad, my iphone and went to my friends house and used his laptop, desk top and ipad and my ipad connected to his broadband and still cannot open an acount to thr help forum. I am in the UK and its 00.04 am Monday 1st July.
can you provide a skype id so we can contact you and guide you through this step by step by screensharing? I live closest to your timezone so i will be contacting you as soon as we know your skypename.
BTW, for anyone reading these comments, Bert did succeed in registering for the forum.
We subsequently went into Bert’s site and did a detailed examination of matters, and found out the issues relate to his hosting, and their setup of their servers. Quite simply, they do not allow the functioning of the theme due to numerous php restrictions.
Hi, I am a striking user who just popped in to grab the new update, and I read the comments and wonder what the heck you guys above are doing! You gotta read the instructions! how you going to build a website if you can’t even follow a simple procedure!!
Striking is great, and the support is amazing. Even if you are stupid they will help you. I am shaking my head.
Hint: If you just bought Striking, go grab the new responsive version, its free for us all, and even if one is challenged mentally, they made it so easy to use it should be impossible to fail.
I feel bad for them. Thats why i had to post. I have used all the top themes and this really is the best for value and support. Once you get the lay of the land you will be able to do some pretty nifty stuff. And plugins work in it which they dont in most of the other themes.
Thank you for your very kind words of support about both the Striking Theme abilities and our support efforts.
Yes, one of the distinguishing factors about Striking is that we have more success with plugins then is typical, and in the forthcoming Striking Responsive matters are improved even further – in fact I have a test bed where I have three major eCommerce plugins plus wpml, nextgen, wp seo, quforms, gravity forms, and many other plugins, all running at the same time!! LOL
I did this as a stress test, but I have not heard of this being done with anything else ->its unusual for even 1 commerce plugin to work 100% let alone more then one active at the same time. But then we are the real thing when it comes to multipurpose.
Glad our product is working out for you and again thank you for your support.
I’m about to buy your very nice theme. But i’d like to know if it’s possible (and easy) to get :
- 2 different menus in the header
- a submenu widget on the left and keep a sidebard with other widgets on the right.
I am a bit confused by the question as i am not certain what you mean by “keeping the sidebar with other widgets on the right”
the sidebar and other widgets are not part of the header but part of the page. Thats why i am not certain to answer you question correctly.
Can you please advice where you want the custom menu, left of the page, left in the header (where striking has the logo) and what it is you mean by the “keep sidebar…..”
Sorry, I expressed myself porly.
Actually, it was 2 questions. 1) Is it possible to add a another menu at the top of the header ? 2) Is it possible to add a sub menu on the left on pages with right sidebar ?
I hope it is more clear.
1) it depends on what you mean by custom menu. if it is on a one line list of linkable (text) menu items. Yes you can do so by using the html box for the top right side above in the header. However if the menu needs to have pulldown menu items also you need to use custom coding as you will have to write out the css code for that menu completely. Or use a plugin like übermenu to posiition a complete menu in that area.
2) You can use a menu plugin which can present a submenu by shortcode to put it anywhere in a page. The page can be divided into columns. In one column you can then add the menu by shortcode. The theme has no ability to support this menu by shortcode natively. So a plugin must be used to have it work that way. There are also (free) plugins which can shortcode a complete sidebar area which you then can be put into a column (by the plugins shortcode) within a page accomplishing what you are trying todo.
I hope this clarifies that a bit otherwise if you have any questions left don’t hestitate to ask them.
Thank you very much for you answer. It’s very clear.
I have just downloaded the Striking 5.2 and uploaded the theme files to my website
Can someone tell me how to remove the this number UA-40110071-1 which appears in the top left corner of the site, this number was not there before I updated the theme files.
Apart from that the update went well, looking forward to checking out the new features
it looks like it is the G.A. code from google analytics. It must be a plugin causing this.
Please ignore my last cooment, i fixed the problem it was Google Universal plugin that was causing the issue
Glad it is resolved. Never heard of that plugin regretfully. Should you have any other questions please use the Striking Support forum for them and we would be pleased to assist you in your design endeavours.
I need a theme where I can create custom pages, adding shortcodes, php code, html codes to the page. Is that doable without hardcoding your theme?
Of course you can create custom pages, add shortcodes, and html in page content. Wordpress naturally does not allow php into page and post content unless one either uses a plugin, or adds the php to the functions.php page.
Just to be clear on a matter, Striking has a very large variety of shortcodes, but if you are speaking in respect of creating new shortcodes for use in the theme, there is no theme at themeforest (or anywhere else that i know of at this time but of course I may be incorrect in this regards) that allows one to create their own shortcodes as a natively supported theme feature. There are plugins that provide this ability, but neither our theme or any other of which I am aware have this ability.
I suggest you go to the following site:
and a bit down the page is a video. If you watch it, a few minutes into it we review a new ability in the Page Design Settings, and I think you might find it of great interest.
Thank you for your interest in Striking.
Featured images aren’t showing in blog posts. Homepage slider is not showing images except when I select 3D.
Without a url we are completely helpless to assist you. Please follow the instructions in the Support Tab above -> surf over to our support forum and post a thread requesting assistance.
I am wondering about two matters, permissions, and did you clear the Striking Cache in the Advanced Tab?
But without more information, we can provide no assistance, because we don’t know enough about your circumstances. So, go to the forum per our guidelines, post, and someone will assist you. Happily!
I cleared the cache and it worked. Thanks.
The tweets aren’t working, just saying loading tweets. https://188.8.131.52/project/repssi/
Glad you succeeded in addressing your image matter. If you go to the forum, there is plenty of information on how to work with the new Twitter api in our sticky threads. If you have difficulties after following those instructions, then please post there. This is not the place for support.
Hi. A couple of quick questions prior to purchasing:
1. I’ve read back through some of the comments and am unclear as to whether the responsive version is currently available. Can you clarify?
2. Would this theme work for an online art gallery that would need to feature 4 different galleries on 4 different pages at a time?
Thank you for your interest in Striking. Striking Responsive is in Beta form at this time, and has been available to Striking Regular purchasers as a free upgrade for testing for about 4 months.
At this time we are now preparing it for official release – it is a free update which will replace Striking Regular (so no new purchase necessary). The Beta package is mature with pretty much all bugs wiped, and only some new Call To Actions to be added to it. Our main work now is on ancillary matters such as the new demo site, demo content, new support site, updating the help, etc. Several hundred users have updated their site to the Responsive Version, and the new showcase will feature many of these sites.
For more information, go to http://www.strikingsupport.com
There is a video down the page from a prior beta release which goes over some info, and I think will be of interest to you.
We anticipate that the price will be changed to $60 or $65 upon release, it has that much in it versus other premium themes.
2. yes. The WP gallery function does not support multiple galleries on one page so this is what our portfolio posts and lists are intended. Or one can use Nextgen, but the Striking Portfolio options accommodate that easily, via the use of the portfolio items and portfolio shortcode.
PRE-SALES question…..I like to implement my own child themes so I can tweak my own css….not all themes support this easily. Does yours?
We have a child theme for Striking, set up already according to the WP codex guidelines and it comes with the theme purchase. However, we will also advise you that a child theme is 100% unnecessary for tweaking CSS in our theme. We provide several built in abilities for writing and customizing css right within the theme framework, and this css is saved to the db and so independent of theme updates. Same for custom js.
In all our time building sites, we have never had to use our own child, we only built one as some old fashioned designers insisted they needed it, although since that point and time most of them have learned they are unnecessary, and abandoned using the child. Our css fields can hold thousands of lines of custom css if that is what one desires.
If you go to http://www.strikingsupport.com and scroll down the page a bit, you will see a video from one of the prior beta releases, and I suggest you watch it, as in one section we point out a place where one can engage in custom css using built in theme abilities.
Ok, that is really awesome. Thanks for the thorough feedback. Yea, I want to just be sure that as I am writing my own CSS it does not get written over with updates. So, it sounds like you have a well thought out workflow. Great theme btw.
Hi Vegas Photographer
Thanks. Seeing how long you have been a TF member, you are likely aware we have worked very hard over the years to maintain Striking, and if you watched the video, you got a little taste of what is in store in the next major update, the transition of Striking to a responsive framework, and with many, many new abilities added.
As well, if you write custom php, our functions.php file does not get overwritten in updates, so we have created a place in the functions.php file for you to stash any custom php you create. As I said, no need for a child at all typically.
