I love the Striking theme and can’t wait to check out Striking Responsive! From my experience, their support team is awesome and very prompt in responding to any issues.
Thank you for the kind words… it is higly appreciated as always.
You kept me well occupied getting you back in good order and I think we both learned something while going through the exercise of correcting the damage you did to your site in your recent endeavours.
We are grateful you took the time to acknowledge our support efforts and the theme abilities, and wish you the best of luck with your site and your design efforts.
I am wondering whether there are some settings that prohibit users to download my pictures.
the theme has no options for that. You can use a plugin which disables right click and other options. But it will not posisble to prevent die-hards from downloading the images as they can always look at the pure html code and find the link to the image.
Also some settings to your server can help people from reading directly images from the wp-content/uploads/year/month folders. I suggest you ask you hoster about that as that is hosting related.
In striking we cache images to a cache folder so the original image url gets a bit obfuscated when the image is resized. The image is called from that folder. But when a lightbox popup is used the link to the original image is again included and thus visible to anybody who wants to “steel” your images.
You could also consider add some watermarks to the original image for the large popup. This makes it pretty useless for copycats. The striking portfolio supports two images. one for the listing page (the index page) and one for the pop-up (the original (with the watermark)).
Hi, thank you for your reply!
We use “Striking” since the spring of 2011. To date, we have received incredible support, short and painless. The forthcoming update to “Striking R” expands the range of possibilities for the appearance of a Web page without limit. Currently, i am working on a demo page (http://demo.ihc-ml.de/home-neu) and realize more and more possible adjustments, especially by custom CSS for every single post, every single page or the entire site. It is not necessary to create a child theme! We are eagerly awaiting the official release of Striking-R here. Only, when will that be? ...
Thank you for the kind words… as for the final release.. it will be very shortly… i hope
Thanks for the kind words. We inch closer every day to the formal release.
I love your theme but I’m waiting new version since 3 months and I don’t understand… the new version doesn’t have :
- any layer slider (like that : http://kreaturamedia.com/layerslider-responsive-wordpress-slider-plugin/)
- responsive design
Sorry my english is poor, doubtless that I missed something…
Have a good day !
Thanks for your job !
Please go to the Striking Support forum and follow the link found in the Responsive sticky thread to the place where you download the responsive version of Striking. It has the Revolution slider in it for the layered slider type effect.
The 5.2 update released a few days ago was to bring Striking regular up to the latest scripting standards prior to our deprecating the regular version.
If you have any other questions, please ask them at the support forum, and we will assist you there.
Thank you and Best Regards
I have no experience and knowledge about website designing, no codes /shortcodes, SEO knowledge. I was thinking to use this theme for my Business. Is this theme easy to use?
Thank you for your interest in Striking.
Some aspects of the theme will be very easy, such as shortcode use. No coding is necessary for using any theme functions. SEO has nothing to do with the theme other then that the theme is optimized for code. Website “design” is outside of the scope of a theme, that is entirely up to you.
Striking does have a very active support forum, which is often extremely helpful for beginners. Buyers of Striking also are entitled to the forthcoming update where Striking will be made responsive, and the responsive release is going to include new videos which will be helpful for you.
But we also caution that designing a website has many elements that fall outside of the theme. You really should be prepared to exercise some patience, and to do some reading, as browsers, servers, abilities to work with media, etc all play a role in designing a website.
Most won’t tell you anything about these other factors, but you said you have no experience or knowledge, and we feel it appropriate to advise you that even with an easy to use theme, there are lots of external factors at play, and one has to be prepared to experiment, read, watch, etc in order to have a successful website.
eagerly and patiently waiting for the official release…
quick question: is the buttons design going to change? I find the thin black frame outdated. The same for the “snapshoot print” style in the “about us” section as well as other design elements.
Your theme skeleton is one of the most robust out there, no doubt about that, but design wise is really suffering from time passing, and that is an important thing to keep in mind when designing a website.
Finally, are we really going to see the official release before august?
Not sure why you don’t put your suggestions and thoughts into our suggestion thread at the forum, as there we and other users can comment on your suggestions and see whether anyone else in the Striking community shares your thoughts.
The button design is entirely customizable by css and the many web designers that use Striking as a base for their customer sites tell us that they like it that way, but we are open to suggestions. I actually have never had anyone say anything negative about our button design – even its base settings offer hover color options, size, color, link, text abilities, etc. There are 17 optional settings for a button now in Striking Responsive – the latest release of the responsive beta adds fontawesome icon ability to the buttons, tab and accordion titles, to navigation including subnav, and a fontawesome shortcode as well, so perhaps this additional settings for the button will be to your liking. I don’t know any other button in any theme that provides that many settings for customizing each individual button but if you can point the way, we are all eyes…..
I understand what you are saying about the picture frame image ability. We have not changed that as it would upset hundreds of sites where it is in use, but we do have some new call to actions being introduced into Striking Responsive that provide for alternative looks for images of any types, such as hover border effects, expand on hover, etc. I will add expand on hover to the picture frame as well at a minimum, and give thought to other css tweaks we might make.
Striking regular is a solid fundamental multipurpose theme whose intent was to provide the ability to control almost every aspect of design by either settings or custom css. But some newer effects introduced into the web are not in it, this is true.
Striking Responsive, which replaces Striking Regular very shortly, has a full array of modern design elements such as all these call to actions that are in vogue at this time, but retains all the abilities and core strength that Striking regular was valued for. As it is a free upgrade for all current owners, I don’t think one can ask for much more then that!
The feedback from users who have already switched over to the responsive version can be found in some comments in the last few pages here, and the reaction to it to date has been extremely enthusiastic. Its very likely the most robust, customizable, multipurpose theme available anywhere. I have no doubt you will find it to your satisfaction in its final release form.
We are actually working on the ancillary matters to official release now, such as the new demo content, new demo site, content for the themeforest sales page, etc, while tweaking functions here and there from the userbase—> I would say we are within a week of release or so. We missed releasing for this Sunday July 14, so I think official release will likely be Sunday July 21.
thanks for taking your time into this detailed answer. I really appreciate.
I have a pre-sales question.
I can’t find any examples of a top-bar menu above the main menu (e.g. with a couple of page references and a language switcher)?
Is it possible to have a top-bar menu and if so can you point me to a sample website?
I am trying to remember if we have any examples anywhere. I will build something and post back. In the interim I will advise you to to view this thread at our forum:
Here are a couple of sites that I recall have something in the top header widget area:
Hello. I have a couple of quick questions prior to purchasing your excellent theme.
I want to use the theme for my photography site and I would like to organize my galleries dividing them into categories (an example: landscape, seascape, night scenery, city, black and white, etc.).
It’s possible organize in this way the galleries?
Also, I want to organize my site in a simple and minimal way, for example: home, gallery, about, contact; without blogs and other menus. It’s possible organize in this mode my site? Finally, when I’ll go out the new version of theme responsive? And If I buy now the theme, after it exits the responsive new version, I have to pay more money? Thanks so much.
WP natively does not support categories for media and galleries created using the wp gallery function. One can use Striking’s portfolio abilities to create categories and display them, but the wp gallery function does not support categories, only pictures by id.
Nextgen plugin supports albums, which are similar to categories, but there is no way to combine albums in a single use of the nextgen shortcode.
Striking’s Portfolio functions allow for portfolio categories, and images can be displayed by category, multiple categories or portfolio id, and can be sorted in about 10 different ways as well. So our portfolio functions provide the solution I think you seek. You can see some examples of portfolios in the online demo.
There is a plugin for the media library in the codex (I recall one but don’t have the link or know if it is up to date) which allows for sorting of media in the library, but this does not extend to the wp gallery function. It is only for grouping in the library.
The organizing in a simple and minimal way is of course easily done in Striking. You can have as little or as much in navigation as you desire. And you can customize it.
The responsive version is an update, so there will be no additional cost. What is happening is that we simply will be deprecating the current version of Striking and uploading the responsive version in its place.
You probably have read some comments from other users about the responsive version. Its pretty exciting ->very powerful with many features. over at the beta site http://www.strikingsupport.com we have one video if you scroll down the page which gives a preview of a couple of new functions from a prior beta release. There will be more videos soon, and a video series accompanying the official release. We already have hundreds of users who have switched their regular sites to the responsive version.
Hi. I have read up on all the info regarding the new responsive version of Striking. I followed the steps to download (with putting in the purchase code as explained) however it did not accept it. Any ideas?
There seems to be a problem with the Themeforest validation api at this time that is provided for theme developers for these matters. We have had several reports just in the last little couple of hours.
We suggest waiting about 12 hrs or so to see if it sorts out. Also watch our support forum for updates. Its not Striking related but we use the api for all update and distribution mattes per the guidelines provided to us by TF.
I am going to ask you to go over to the support forum to repost this question. We don’t provide detailed support here in the themeforest comments per our support policy noted in the support tab above, and we are going to have to ask a few questions of you on this matter.
When you post at the forum, please include the shortcode you used on the page, and customization you have done. What I am curious about is that you have used the framed box settings in the shortcode accounting for white background in your blog listing. But we don’t support the framed box in the single post page, and yet you have a background or frame set (unless I am going batty and have forgotten something ->always a possibility given how many options we provide in our settings! )
So please head over to the forum and provide some info, and we will see about assistance.
When I try to download the latest update of the “striking” I get the message “error”: “Please give a correct purchase code”.
The same problem (Invalid Item Purchase Code) occurs when you try to open an account on the site http://kaptinlin.com/support
Please verify Item Purchase Code for a license, which I bought.
Thank you for your purchase of Striking. Please see my reply above to CB123 about the api failing. We are also investigating as well.
In respect of downloading, if you let me know what update you are trying to get there I may be able to be of more assistance. Is it the 5.2.1 beta? or the Striking Responsive beta? or the recent release 5.2?
If it is Striking 5.2 you can also download it here within your Themeforest account and install it by ftp.
I will be checking back from time to time today for your response.
Sorry about the inconvenience. One way or another, this will be corrected soon. Anyone who knows us knows we never just sit and twiddle our thumbs. We are always working, and always supporting. Some times more efficiently, other times less efficiently (!) but always at some pace…...
All TF api matters are corrected. Thanks for your patience.
After the last update I can´t see the pictures. It´s the same server with the same setup, I changed nothing.
Have you any idea?
Per our guidelines noted in the support tab above we ask that purchasers post for assistance on our support forum, as we do not provide support here at TF.
But as this appears to be a standard usage matter, I will suggest you go to the Striking Advanced Panel and set the Clear Cache setting to “On” and then save the panel. The setting will show OFF after saving, but will have flushed the temp theme image cache.
If this resolves the matter great. If not then you will have to head over to the forum and request more assistance, and one of the support team members will help you.
Thank´s a lot James!
Your welcome. I am hoping that the caching flush did the trick for you?
Hi I’m getting troubles to apply for a membership in your support’s page. I’ve put my item purchase code from themeforest several times and I don’t know why it’s not working!
Is it safe to publish my item purchase code here, for you to resolve this?
Thank you very much!
Never disclose your purchase code other then when we ask you directly, and we would only do that via our forum back end, or in a direct skype call.
In any case, we believe we have fixed the issue and ask that you try again.
Apparently we have fixed all but our support forum (see the report below from Westj007)! I will task this soon, sorry about the delay. We thought we had it fixed along with all the other api matters, but our forum software is apparently fighting back, so a little more code wrestling seems to be in order.
If you matter is urgent, you can email us at support @ striking support . com (without all the spaces which are just to help foil bots) and include your purchase code, and we will register you at the forum and send you back your user and password.
Thanks for your patience. Registration is fixed.
I am also unable to register on the support website using my purchase code. The theme does update automatically however, but I would like access to the support website.
You should be able to register now. We corrected the matter at the forum. I will keep an eye on these comments tonight. If you do not succeed let me know.
Can you please do a test for me with your code. Go to http://www.strikingsupport.com and input your key to download the latest responsive beta. Let me know if that worked.
I was able to download the responsive beta using my purchase code, but still could not register for support… Thanks, the beta is what I’m after right now, but would still like to access the support site, but it isn’t an immediate need.
We will attend to the forum registration again shortly. As well, there will be another update to the beta on Thursday at some point. Just follow the forum header for updates on matters.
Curious to know before purchasing, if this theme will support a private, password protected gallery for clients to view their photos before purchase?
Thanks for taking the time to answer!
Whether wp galleries or our portfolio items, they are always within the body content of a post or page. WP natively supports making pages and posts private or password protected. We have not disabled any of this functionality in Striking so my answer is that if you create a gallery of some sort, or a portfolio, and make the page/post password protected then your goal can be achieved in Striking.
I will point out in fairness that the wp functionality for such protections is fairly standard. One can obtain much better flexibility with a plugin such as S2Membership, which is available for free in the wordpress codex, and Striking is one of the few premium themes that is fully compatible with it – Striking is even compatible with its pro version.
I hope I have answered your question.
Again thanks for your interest in our theme. You will really love the responsive version of Striking which is a free update for all owners.
I gave Striking the 5 stars it deserves Thank you, again – I have used (& purchased!) your theme for 2 or 3 of my client’s needs and everyone loves it.
Thanks for you kind words. Glad it is working out for your clients.
Hi, this is a great theme – thank you! I am however having a very annoying issue with the sub-menu color. I have included a screenshot that details the issue and my site url. Please advise asap on how to fix this as it’s for an urgent client site. Thank you so much in advance.

Can I see a preview of the woocommerce intergration?
Since you are an owner, in fact you can install Woo, turn on Ecommerce in the Advanced panel, and see it for yourself.
We also have a woo thread in the announcement threads at the forum, and it has some screenshots.
If you can post at the forum with any questions you have, I can direct you to test beds we have running both in Striking Regular and Striking Responsive Beta, and the forum thread has a few sites that are running Woo.
Pre-purchase question. I wanted to see what a Woocommerce shop page would look like. But could not find anything in your demo or showcase sites?
It can look pretty much how you want as we include abilities in Striking to customize the shop page extensively.
Here is a link to one of the pages we are playing around with:
We have a thread at the forum on Woo and I recall I put up some screenshots a while ago:
Striking is compatible with Woo 2.0.13
My client is looking to launch a responsive website which would include:
1)Directories for hotels and other services with reviews and ratings
2) Features and blog posts
3) Paid events management with built-in ticketing system.
Looks like your theme has them, though I am not sure about the ratings. Is the events system in our system customazible with WooCommerce. Just wanted to make sure before I purchase. Appreciate your support in advance.
We don’t have any specific directory functions built into Striking other then the fact that we support sitemaps for posts, portfolios and categories. Normally users grab a directory plugin for this purpose based on our experience.
Well, we have a gazillion features for both blog and portfolios, so hopefully we cover the basic needs of users in that respect.
We do not have an events management plugin or script, or ticketing, built into Striking Responsive. Again this is usually something farmed out to a plugin.
Are you a professional web designer? I can arrange for you to get a back end looksee if you would like. Please send me an email at:
support @ strikingsupport . com (without the spaces)
with your skype id, and I will contact you.
please i want to by this theme, but i havent see or read how to install it anywhere, can you pls help before i buy this theme.
Striking installs the same way any other theme installs. Once you have purchased Striking, you download the Striking package from your themeforest account. Then you unpack this zip, and in it are some folders, and another zip – “striking.zip”. You would use the wordpress install theme function that is a standard part of all wordpress installations to install this zip.
The download package includes a 44 pg pdf document but really should you have any difficulties, you would go over to our support forum, post a message indicating you were having difficulties with the installation, and one of our support team would assist you.
We also have a video for installation:
which you can watch. It features an older version of Striking, but the version does not matter in respect of installation.
hi, thanks for your response to my question, now i have purchase and downloaded the theme, but the version i downloaded i think is 5.2.1, where is the responsive version, how can i download it. i have already started with this theme, but i dont mind deleting it at this stage so i can build with the responsive theme, pls help.
Thank you for purchasing Striking. Sorry about the delayed response. I think you posted late Saturday perhaps? And usually after 3pm Saturday we are pretty scarce until today (Monday).
You do not need to delete what you have done. One of the lovely things about Striking is that your settings and work carry over from Striking 5.2 to Striking Responsive, unless it is a setting or feature that has been discontinued for one reason or another.
We have a forum thread that has everything you need to know including the link, installation instructions, etc:
Be advised we have another beta, just a fix of some stuff and a few final last minute features, coming out on Tuesday. Its stuff we are catching or deciding to add while we work on the build out of the new demo site and installable demo content for official release.
You should register at the support forum (link is in the support tab above) as responses are much quicker at the forum.
