Hi, I was wondering how I add the descriptions under the main navigation menu titles?

kaptinlin

Hi teknomanx

I hope you posted over at the support forum as your question would have been answered soon after you posted. You have to enable custom menu, and then you put the text in the menu description field of each top level menu item.

I suggest that per our support guidelines, should you need more info please go to the support forum, register if you have not yet done so, and post your question and a member of the support team will respond with more information.

No response to the email that I asked sent 8 days ago, and was not able to register for the support forum even though I bought two themes and had two authorization codes no go.

Here is my issue:

Bought a slider CCGallery WP – Multimedia Gallery Wordpress Plugin.

Link: http://www.rgtsf.org/audio-messages/

Plugin developer said to check in with you about:

The logo and the flag are showing over the overlay because your header, which is contained in <header id=”header”>, has a high z-index of 1050, whereas the overlay uses a z-index of 1000. Set a lower z-index on your header because such a high z-index is totally unnecessary.

How do I change it the z-index down so that the flag and logo dont show up when I click play.

kaptinlin

Hi

First. Thank you for purchasing Striking, and in fact being a multiple purchaser. We are grateful for your patronage.

Secondly, may I ask when the last time you attempted to register for the forum? We had an issue with our TF api key for purchase code confirmation last week, but it is long since resolved, and even just examining our registration activity since Sunday, I see over 40 successful registrations, including 7 today so far. If you cannot register today, I will set up a registration for you – I will post an email address in a moment to which you can email.

Third. I don’t know to which email you used for your prior communication. We don’t actually use email in our day to day business, its all skype (we provide live support for our theme btw when necessary) and our forum threads and back end messaging. But for your reference, the email which you can use to contact us is:

suppport @ striking support . com (without the spaces of course)

and someone usually (and begrudgingly as we are so used to real time comm) checks it once a day or so. If you indicate you are emailing back, I will check it promptly. Shoot over your email address, and your purchase codes, and I will confirm everything is ok with the codes (we have a virtual terminal for validating them with TF), and create a forum account for you.

4) just like a plugin developer to give you a solution, and then follow the good with something stupid at the same time. The z-index we employ is usually necessary as our header allows for a lot of things to happen, more then a plugin developer would typically understand or see employed in a free or regular ($35-$50 range) theme.

You can change the z-index by posting the following code into the General Panel/Custom CSS tab/Custom CSS field:

#header {z-index: 1000;}

The complete code is found in the screen.css file of the css folder in your striking theme, on line 1768. This is assuming you are using Striking Regular 5.2.1 and not Striking Responsive Beta.

We will look forward to hearing from you, and again, sorry about the registration/contact difficulties, and thanks for purchasing our theme.

Great that worked. As far as support email is it: suppport @ striking support . com (with 3 p’s? )Registration might have been via that time. I was able to register now

Hi

The extra p is a typo. Glad you registered successfully -> we did have a headline in the forum for about 5 days noting the registration issue but I am thinking you went, left, and did not go back, and missed it in the intervening period.

Will see you on the forum!

Hi Franky,

no need to say sorry we are multilangual or are able to use google translate… LOL.

Can you can goto http://kaptinlin.com/support/ and drop your question in there? You can create a login account with your purchase code on that forum. After you have dropped the question we will probably ask you to provide us login details in a private email so we can take a peek what is going on.

Most likely you have set a custom sidebar to the blogpage which has no widgets in the widget container area.

where can I get my purchase code to signup on the support forum it does not let me download on the downloads page… im lost

kaptinlin

Hi Blackoperation:

Are you saying that when you go to your Themeforest Downloads page you cannot access the license certificate of any of your purchases?

To confirm you are doing this correctly go to this page, and review the image which provides some additional help:

http://www.strikingsupport.com/license-certificate

If you can see your certificate but cannot download it, then you need to contact Themeforest directly, and obtain their assistance, as that would be a Themeforest issue, since they control all aspects of the sale process. We have no say, or involvement, in any aspect of what occurs here. Other then the fact that we have an item for sale here, our abilities are the exact same as yours.

Once you succeed in download the certificate, open it up, and about 4 lines into it is the purchase code which you need for registration at the forum, and download of the Striking Responsive beta.

Please reply back about your progress.

I am trying to install network of sites with Striking as the main theme but when i try to update the wp-config file with the following lines, define(‘MULTISITE’, true); define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true); define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘arivuinnovations.com’); define(‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ’/’); define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1); define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1); The theme gets collapsed. Can you please let me know what needs to be done.

kaptinlin

Hi Arivu

Please go to the support forum for help, per the instructions in the Support tab. We do not provide support here.

And remember, if you are trying to set up a network of sites, you need a separate mysql database for each. Furthermore, these are the parameters needed for each site:

define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database define(‘DB_USER’, ‘username’); // Your MySQL username define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘password’); // ...and password

Although it has been some time since I have worked with a network of sites, I think all of the following is unnecessary in WP:

define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1); define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);

Any further help will be provided via our support forum. I am on vacation but just happened to check in. If you post at the forum, one of the support team will assist you.

I really like how customizable this theme is! One idea that could add another option to the theme; choosing different colors for your background that would slowly fade into each other after a set amount of time. Change the mood of your website or slide show. Take or leave it anyways, Keep up the good work!

kaptinlin

Hi ModestMouse

Thank you for the suggestion. A very unique idea. Not sure how we could implement it, but I will give it some thought.

I am not sure whether you are currently using Striking Regular Ver 5.2.1 or have jumped to Striking Responsive via the beta available to all Striking owners, but given the feedback we have received so far on Striking responsive, I think you will find enough customization options to blow you away.

Hi! I just purchased your Theme Striking and I love it! well done! I have just one problem. I have 10 slides installed, BUT there are no pictures running at the slideshow. What do I have mad wrong?

Thank you for your short support. Sabrina

kaptinlin

Hi Sabrina

I am going to ask you to go to the support forum, per our support policy (noted in the Support tab above) as we may need more info from you such as your site url, and the forum is where you and the support team members can discuss what is occurring.

But a quick hint. All slider items have to have a title up in the post title field (a slide is a type of custom post) and also a featured image. If you are lacking either of those, then the slides will not show up.

But it could be another matter, such as your server host permissions, and one you surf over to the Striking Support Forum, register and post, we can assist you if my hint above did not resolve matters. Please reply back one way or another so we can know you are on your way.

Please go to the support forum for assistance with any aspects of Striking, and post your questions on the forum. There are forum topics, including a notice in the forum header, about Nextgen 2.0.0.

Hello I purchased Striking. But I can’t install because when I want to create at FTP FileZilla a new folder in the wp-content/themes, I receive this message: 550 Can’t create directory: Permission denied

Please, help me

kaptinlin

Hi

You are going to need to talk to your host. Your issue appears to be that you don’t have admin level permissions for making adjustments in your website root.

However, I will also add you do not need to “create” a new folder. Unpack your download from themeforest, and then you have two choices: log into your wp dashboard, go to the Themes panel, and then the Install themes tab, and install the “striking.zip”.

Alternatively, if installing by ftp, you unpack the striking.zip so that you have the “striking” folder and then all you do is drag and drop that into the themes folder.

We have an older video on installing by ftp. Its not the current Striking package but it still does walk one through a full install, start to finish. We only took it down as it deals with an iteration of Striking from some time ago, and now Striking has a diff look in the admin, and more features, and we did not want to confuse users. Here is the link:

http://www.strikingsupport.com/StrikingFTP.mp4

Should you have any further questions, I ask that you please go to the Support forum, register, and post there, as per our support policy noted in the support tab above.

Thank you for purchasing Striking

I have a pre-purchase question. I see that you have a beta responsive version of the Striking Theme. If I were to purchase today would I not get the full, newly-released responsive version with my purchase? When will it be out “officially”. I will certainly purchase whenever I can get the full responsive version. Thank you!

kaptinlin

Hi sunflowerspiral

Access to the beta is a freebie we provide by way of our own support forum. Until we deprecate Striking Regular and load up Striking Responsive in its place here at Themeforest, we can only distribute Striking 5.2.1 by way of the Themeforest build, and cannot include the Striking Responsive Beta.

What will happen here at Themeforest eventually is that a future update will just be the responsive version of Striking – no longer a beta at that time.

If you have been following the responsive thread at the Striking support forum you may be aware that we have released what is intended to be the final beta. So now we have progressed to cleanup work, and to all the ancillary matters for launching such as preparing a new demo, getting the content ready for the revised sales page here at Themeforest, etc. My guesstimate is a week or so, but it is a rough estimate only.

Thank you for your interest in Striking.

I am interested in purchasing this however I have a few questions. Right now I use this theme: http://themeforest.net/item/bretheon-premium-wordpress-theme/4001061

My site is http://www.abedward.com

This template is horrible for SEO and it is ultra slow. Bad code.

What makes your template superior for SEO and can you see any improvements it can make for our company right of the bat?

Thanks!

kaptinlin

Hi Tommy

I regret to say I know nothing about this theme whatsoever (I’d never heard of it actually but that really means nothing). I can advise we refuse to build into our product any of these page builder type plugins/scripts as they are absolutely awful to work with and highly restrictive in our opinion.

I do notice on your site that there seems to be a problem with the nav script – I noticed that some of the dropdowns were having problems staying focused in firefox which is my normal browser of choice. The rev slider integration also seems to be odd, as it is not responsive, and I am wondering how it is integrated.

I have to say I think you have done a nice job on your site homepage. Were I a customer landing on it I would think I have visited a nice professional site. I know you indicated the theme code is bad and it is slow, but at least from an appearance perspective, you have an attractive design.

You should be aware that any of the advanced sliders like the Revolution slider, the Layered slider, etc, add to page loading times. This is not the same as an issue of bad coding and its affect on other matters, but these sliders do impose a burden on sites and I felt in fairness that you should be aware of that.

In respect of other recommendations, I really don’t have any as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Rather I recommend that you peruse the list of sites we have posted on our Item Details page, all which are built with various iterations of the responsive betas, and see whether anything catches your eye or not.

Striking Responsive has a huge feature list. Realistically, no site, even an advanced one, is going to use more then 40-50% of its features, but the goal is to give choice, and to give customizability. A substantial portion of our buyers are professional designers, so we have really three levels of features in Striking Responsive – Normal (little or no knowledge required to use), Intermediate (helps to know the wp basics or perhaps how that function works on the web to use best) and Advanced (has css and design options and so web/design knowledge is required to obtain maximum benefit). In the Striking Item details just below the list of sample responsive sites is a link to a forum thread on comments from users, and I suggest you review that thread.

In respect of clean code, I believe I can say we have always been renown for clean code. But you should be aware we do use a lot of cutting edge techniques in Striking Responsive. So if you test us against something like W3C compliance. I can only imagine the results since we are far ahead of it on the curve. We of course use only valid html5 and css, including many new css3 techniques, plus the very latest in js including backbone mvc js, etc. but the css and js interpreters vary from browser to browser. I just wanted you to be aware of that.

Otherwise, I can only point to the comments from responsive adopters, and our overall average as a theme. We have a 4.75 average after having been rated almost 2300 times. That is remarkable. It was easy to have a high average at the outset but we are 3 years old, and to be maintaining that rating after all this time I think says volumes about the quality of our product. Its not perfect, but its pretty darned good. It does deliver incredible value for the price for a retail theme in this type of marketplace.

One other thing I will add. As we are an older theme, well out of the limelight (notwithstanding the fact we have the most updates of any theme in the marketplace as we always stay current, and the forthcoming responsive update is just a part of that commitment to staying current), people don’t tend to find us first because we do not get any visibility under the Themeforest sales architecture. Buyers usually end up buying something all glossy on their first landing to TF, and its only after they hit a trainwreck and they themselves have learned a few things, that they learn what they really need, and then find us. We hope with the responsive update to become first choice again but you would be at least the 5000th purchaser to have come to us after exhausting other choices, and then Eureka!

Thanks for inquiring about Striking.

Best Regards
Striking Team

After that amazing email, we went ahead and purchased it. I cannot tell you just how simply amazing and POWERFUL SEO wise this theme is. The cleanest code, easy tools, proper formatting and to say quick is an understatement. Trust me, if you are looking for a theme that rocks for SEO, this is the one. Great work, great communication and customer responsiveness and support! A++

Hi

I went to your link, and your site looks wonderful. I hope you upgrade to the responsive version soon as I would like to add your site to our forthcoming revised showcase in the commercial category.

I also ask that you go to our forum thread on Posting your Sites and add it to the thread so that I have more info on you and your site. I am assuming you are the designer for the site.

Just a heads up that the Roboto font you are using from google is available as a fontface font, and implementing it via fontface is both quicker, and saves you some external script calls, and therefore a speed improvement.

Look forward to seeing you at our forum!

Thank you very much for the complements about Striking.

I am thinking of purchasing this theme … just a few questions before I do …

1 … it appears the responsive is beta at the moment. Does this mean that if I purchased the theme today … later when the responsive theme is ready for full release it would just be as simple as updating the theme? Or are the Responsive theme and the current non-responsive theme two separate things?

2 … are the Portfolios fully customizable. They appear to be … but I ask this because we just purchased another theme that wasn’t very customizable. it’s Portfolio page had very little code to mess with and was linked to templates and posts. So basically the portfolio page called to the most recent pages and added them to the page. We need to be able to define what thumbnails go on an individual portfolio page and be able to define where they link to. (hope that makes sense).

I appreciate your help and look forward to your response … the seem looks great and we hope it is able to do these things.

Hey James …

I purchased over a week ago. Not sure why the purchase badge isn’t appearing.

Love the theme … it’s very well organized. The PDF in the documentation folder could be a little clearer. But I read on your support forum it is pretty outdated and you have made a lot of changes to the shortcodes and such.

So I’ve been working on a site … and all seems to be going smoothly with one exception. When we made a Portfolio page … it seems to not be working perfectly.

The Portfolio Items work fine (these pages display proper video and images). But when we click on the Portfolio page with the thumbnails … the images pop up properly in the lightbox window … however the videos do not.

I’ve tried everything I can think of … but it’s still not working. Any thoughts?

Here is a link to to portfolio page …

http://www.annewilde.com/portfolio/

Basically … in the Edit Portfolio Item … I’ve set the “Portfolio Categories” to “Video”

Set the “Portfolio Type” in the “Portfolio general Setup” to “Video”

In the Portfolio Type:Video tab … i set the “Video Link for Lightbox” to the youtube full url link

Thanks a lot in advance for all your help.
